Neighbors say the dismembered body of a missing 6-year-old girl in Harvey, La., was discovered early Tuesday morning in a trash bin, Fox8Live.com reports.

Ahlittia North disappeared from her apartment late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Deputies have said someone also took her brown and plaid comforter, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Lisa North tells The Times-Picayune the sheriff’s office contacted her around 1 a.m. Tuesday about the discovery. Sheriff’s office spokesman Col. John Fortunato declined comment until a news conference scheduled at 3 p.m.

The girl’s body was found in a trash bin not far from their apartment.

Investigators had previously searched dumpsters and trash cans in the area, the report says.

Deputies reportedly named 20-year-old Matthew Flugence as a person of interest. The girl’s mother says he babysat her kids before. Investigators tell FOX 8 he is a suspect in a sexual battery case involving an 11-year-old girl.

Alan Moore Talks LXG TV Series

Comic book writer Alan Moore is notorious for not approving of let alone liking any of Hollywood’s adaptations of his graphic novels. So it shouldn’t really come as any surprise then that he’s not keen on the news that FOX is developing his comic book The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as a television series, this after it was already turned into a less than celebrated feature film.

In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Moore said “the modern entertainment industry clearly (has) no ideas of its own and having to go through dust bins and spittoons in the dead of night to recycle things.”

Statement from News Corporation President and Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey Regarding Broadcast Television and Aereo

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)– “News Corporation has a long-standing commitment to the broadcast television business, and to delivering the highest-quality entertainment, sports and news programming to our viewers on a localized basis. We are committed to broadcasting under a business model where programmers receive fair compensation from parties that want to redistribute our product while continuing to make our product available for free to individual consumers that want to access our signal.

“We believe that Aereo is pirating our broadcast signal. We will continue to aggressively pursue our rights in the courts, as well as pursue all relevant political avenues, and we believe we will prevail.

“That said, we won’t just sit idle and allow our content to be actively stolen. It is clear that the broadcast business needs a dual revenue stream from both ad and subscription to be viable. We simply cannot provide the type of quality sports, news, and entertainment content that we do from an ad supported only business model. We have no choice but to develop business solutions that ensure we continue to remain in the driver’s seat of our own destiny. One option could be converting the FOX broadcast network to a pay channel, which we would do in collaboration with both our content partners and affiliates.”

California pastor tackles burglary suspect, holds him for deputies

A California pastor whose church was repeatedly broken into finally took matters into his own hands, tackling a burglary suspect and holding him until police responded.

Pastor Steve Kihlthau of Stockton Baptist Church said the sanctuary’s alarm sounded for the fourth time in a week at about 3 a.m. Monday, prompting its alarm company to notify him to check out the situation, FOX 40 reports.

“All of a sudden, I heard a glass door start to open and I see a guy run out, carrying a satchel, a bag and I said a few choice words to say, ‘Stop where you are,'” Kihlthau told the station.

The 60-year-old pastor then tackled the suspect when he didn’t spot a weapon.

“We wrestled on the ground,” he continued. “Probably for at least five minutes before the sheriff got here.”

Kihlthau said he had met his limit with four earlier break-ins, costing the church thousands of dollars in equipment, including three computers.

Dwayne Hickingbottom, 52, was arrested following the incident and was charged with burglary, battery and vandalism, San Joaquin County Sheriff‘s deputies said.

Wheelchair-bound Marine Disrespected By TSA Agents

By B. Christopher Agee

tsa col logo SC Wheelchair bound Marine disrespected by TSA agents

The Transportation Security Administration continued to earn its reputation for inefficiency and a dearth of common sense recently with its unconscionable treatment of a disabled Marine.

According to a complaint letter written by Republican California Rep. Duncan Hunter, the Marine – still on active duty despite losing both legs to an improvised explosive device – received shabby service from his arrival at the checkpoint at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Ariz.

“The individual escorting this Marine asked the TSA officer which of the two checkpoints to enter and received the response, ‘either one,’” his letter contends, noting they were later informed they picked the wrong line.

“As a result, a TSA officer asked the Marine to stand and walk to an alternate area,” he wrote, an obviously ridiculous request given his situation.

The soldier, instead of being treated with the respect such a hero deserves, was then forced to remove and reattach his prothetic legs “only to advance to a secondary screening location where he was asked again to stand, with extraordinary difficulty, while his wheelchair was examined for explosives.”

While undercover TSA agents are able to sneak mock explosives through checkpoints without being detected, at least we can rest assured that those who risk life and limb to protect our interests overseas are having their privacy invaded by these self-important government employees.

This unfortunate incident further illustrates the shameful trajectory of this nation in recent years. Individuals who should be viewed as suspect by anyone with a modicum of common sense escape scrutiny in an effort to avoid profiling while those like a disabled Marine, a toddler, or a great-grandmother are relentlessly prodded and treated like a criminal.

Along with Hunter, I agree prospective airline passengers should be screened prior to boarding; but I also stand with his advocacy for smarter use of such resources.

“I am concerned by the apparent lack of situational awareness and respect among TSA officers,” he said, “specifically when it comes to the treatment of war wounded.”

Though the TSA might be among the most high-profile agency showing such signs of idiocy, I’m afraid this is just a symptom of a much large problem. There is a huge “lack of situational awareness” whenever the federal government is involved.

Boeing worker mentors 'Barefoot Bandit' at Wash. prison

Jonathan Standridge and Colton Harris-Moore made an odd couple as they sat together in the visiting room of a Washington state prison one day last spring.

Standridge, 57, is a project manager at Boeing, one of the world’s most important aviation companies. Harris-Moore, 21, is the “Barefoot Bandit,” a world-famous airplane thief who is serving a seven-year sentence after a sensational run from the law in stolen boats, cars and planes.

As it turned out, they had a lot to discuss. Aerospace design. Books. And second chances.

“What have you heard about me?” Harris-Moore asked, Standridge recalled.

“I’ve read all about the `Barefoot Bandit,”‘ Standridge said. Harris-Moore replied: “That’s not who I am.”

Ever since, Standridge has returned to the prison in Aberdeen, a two-hour drive from his lakeside home in the Seattle suburb of SeaTac, at least once a month, hoping to have a positive influence on what has been a bleak, if sometimes thrilling, young life, and to repay a favor someone once did for him.

“This is a young man that is fully engaged in the rehabilitation process that we in society ask of those folks who are in our prison system,” said Standridge, who has tutored Harris-Moore in the airplane business and a lot more.

The progress is threatened by new burglary and theft counts that could add to Harris-Moore’s sentence, he said.

Standridge was lining up other aviation specialists to meet with Harris-Moore when the prisoner was transferred last month to the Skagit County Jail. Prosecuting Attorney Rich Weyrich said he filed the charges because the plea agreement other prosecutors reached with Harris-Moore in 2011 was too lenient. A hearing was set for Thursday.

Harris-Moore grew up poor on Camano Island north of Seattle, raised by an alcoholic mother and a series of her felon boyfriends — a feral childhood he wouldn’t wish on his “darkest enemies,” he once wrote to a judge. He earned his first conviction at age 12, in 2004, for stolen property, and things only got worse. After he walked away from a halfway house in 2008, he embarked on a two-year burglary spree, breaking into unoccupied vacation homes and stores, and stealing money and food.

Some of the crimes were committed barefoot, and by 2010, he had rocketed to international notoriety as he stole small airplanes in the Northwest, flew them with no formal training and landed them with various degrees of success. A few were only lightly damaged, but two crashes were so severe he could have been killed.

His final run was a cross-country dash to an airport in Indiana, where he stole a plane, crashed it in the Bahamas, and was arrested in a hail of bullets.

He pleaded guilty to dozens of charges, apologized, and sold the rights to his story to FOX, which plans a movie. Any proceeds will repay his victims.

That, Standridge tells him, is the past — useful in determining how we got where we are, but not what we will become.

A chance encounter led Standridge to Harris-Moore. At last year’s Seattle International Film Festival, …read more

Bullies In The Newsroom

By Bradlee Dean

“Democracy becomes a government of bullies tempered by editors.”– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today’s state-run media gives us knowledge of what is going on in America and around the world… or does it?

Although the media has a damaging 21 percent approval rating according to a recent Gallup poll (I am surprised it is that high), it still seems as though the locomotive of socialism runs full steam ahead because, for the most part, the American people do not know we are a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. America is ruled by Law, not by opinion or the media’s false polling.

With their socialist-communist agenda behind their reports, they are attempting to bully anyone who stands against their propaganda into submission.

Let’s pull the curtain back on the media so you can see who is doing the reporting.

In 1917, Congressman Oscar Callaway entered a disturbing statement into the congressional record:

J.P. Morgan, a banker and a steel tycoon, hired 12 high-ranking news managers and editors, and asked them to determine the most influential newspapers in America. He wanted to control the policy of the daily press of the United States (that policy being whatever they wanted it to be).  The twelve found that it was only necessary to purchase 25 of the greatest newspapers.  An agreement was reached, the policy of the papers was bought, and an editor of their choice was placed at each paper to ensure that all published information was in keeping of the new policy. (Again, keep in mind it was their policy.)

Now you know why ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, FOX, etc. are reporting the same content. It is all derived from the same source.

In a nutshell, those who are attempting to rearrange reality to become the reality they want you to believe in control the news media.

Mark Twain rightly stated, “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re misinformed.”

Let me explain…

Richard Salant, former president of CBS news, said: “Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have.”  That’s pretty arrogant, isn’t it?

Walter Cronkite, former CBS news anchor said, “News reporters are certainly liberal and left of center.”

Herman Dismore, foreign editor of the New York Times, said, “The New York Times is deliberately pitched to the liberal point of view.”

Richard Cohen, senior producer for CBS, said,  “We are going to impose our agenda on the coverage by dealing with issues and subjects that we choose to deal with.”

America, it is time to turn the television off (Psalm 101:3; 2 Corinthians 6:17). You have two options: stand for truth and demand justice, or become the victims of your own undoing and be trodden under the foot of media oppression.

Let’s take the next step and show you the twisted ideology of those who report the news:
