Taro Aso, Japan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Says Tokyo Could Learn From Nazis’ Tactics

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Japan’s gaffe-prone deputy prime minister has said Tokyo could learn from Nazi Germany when it comes to constitutional reform, prompting a rebuke from a Jewish human rights group.

In a statement on its website late Tuesday, the US-based Simon Wiesenthal Center called on Taro Aso to clarify his comments that Tokyo, which is mulling a change to its pacifist constitution, should look to the way the Nazis quietly adopted reforms.

“First, mass media started to make noises (about Japan’s proposed reforms), and then China and South Korea followed suit,” Aso was quoted by Japanese media as saying in a speech Monday to a conservative think tank.

“The German Weimar constitution changed, without being noticed, to the Nazi German constitution. Why don’t we learn from their tactics?”

In response, the Jewish rights group said: “The only lessons on governance that the world should draw from the Nazi Third Reich is how those in positions of power should not behave”.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, the Japanese government’s top spokesman, on Wednesday declined to answer media questions about the comments, saying “deputy prime minister Aso should answer that question”.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party has said it wants to revise the US-imposed pacifist constitution to define Japan’s defence forces as a full-fledged military force, amid territorial tensions with neighbours China and South Korea.

That has stirred strong emotions in Beijing and Seoul which have long maintained that Japan has never come to terms with its militaristic past.

Aso, who is also Japan’s finance minister, is known for his sometimes uncomfortable remarks, including saying earlier this year that elderly people should “hurry up and die” to avoid taxing the country’s medical system.

Obama’s “Phony” Scandals

By Rock Peters

Democrat Donkey Scandals Train SC Obamas Phony Scandals

“With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing, and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball,” Barack Obama said in a speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. on July 24, 2013.

“If four Americans get killed, it’s not OPTIMAL.”–Obama’s calloused, abnormally detached, and incredibly narcissistic response to Comedy Central’s John Stewart’s question about the changing story of the Benghazi attack.

Does Obama think that the Muslim terrorist attack on our consulate in Libya on 9/11/2012 didn’t really happen and that four Americans (Ambassador Chris Stevens, Glenn Doherty, Sean Smith, and Ty Woods) weren’t actually murdered?

The Obama Laundry List of Phony Scandals

1. IRS targets Obama’s enemies: The IRS targeted conservative and pro-Israel groups prior to the 2012 election. Questions are being raised about why this occurred, who ordered it, whether there was any White House involvement, and whether there was an initial effort to hide who knew about the targeting and when.

2. Benghazi: This is actually three treasonous scandals into one:

a) The failure of the administration to protect the Benghazi mission.

b) The Obama administration changed the talking points in order to suggest the attack was motivated by an anti-Muslim video.

c) The intense stonewalling, complete shutdown, and absolute refusal of the White House to say what President Obama did the night of the attack.

d) Breaking 200 plus years of honorable American military tradition to never leave any solider behind.

3. Spying on the the AP: The Justice Department stole a plethora of Associated Press reporters’ phone records as part of a leak investigation.

4. James Rosengate: The Justice Department suggested that Fox News reporter James Rosen is a criminal for reporting about classified information and subsequently monitored his phones and emails.

5. The Holder perjury I: Attorney General Eric Holder told Congress that he had never been associated with “potential prosecution” of a journalist for perjury when, in fact, he personally signed the affidavit that alleged Fox News reporter James Rosen was a potential criminal.

6. The ATF “Fast and Furious” debacle: Allowed weapons from the U.S. to “walk” across the border into the hands of Mexican drug dealers. The ATF lost track of hundreds of firearms, many of which were used in crimes (including the December 2010 killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.)

7. Holder Perjury II: During congressional hearings held on May 3, 2011, Congressman Darrell Issa asked AG Eric Holder when he first knew about the “Fast and Furious” gun walking scheme. Eric Holder replied under oath: “I am not sure about the exact date but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.” Holder flat out lied to Congress under oath;”Project Gun Runner” (Fast and Furious) was launched by Obama with Holder’s full knowledge on March 24, 2009. Holder is guilty of perjury and should be arrested.

8. Secretary Kathleen Sebelius runs an extortion racket: HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius solicited donations from companies HHS might regulate. The money would be used to help her sign up uninsured Americans for ObamaCare.

9. The Pigford scandal: A U.S. Agriculture Department effort that began as an …read more

Nominal Food Stamp Cuts Elicit Leftist Outrage

By B. Christopher Agee

Food Stamps Card Self Respect Loss SC Nominal food stamp cuts elicit leftist outrage

As hard-working Americans across economic lines are forced to survive on less and less during Obama’s all-out assault on prosperity, leftist are up in arms over extremely modest cuts in welfare checks.

According to reports, the unsustainably dense population of food stamp recipients will see an average drop of between $20 and $25 per month in their so-called benefits.

Celia Cole, the hyperbolic CEO of the Texas Food Bank Network, explained that the organization is counting down the days until each government dependent in the nation “gets a little hungrier.”

A family of four, receiving the maximum monthly payout of $668, will now get $643, which Cole apparently sees as one of our greatest injustices.

“This cut will be the equivalent of taking away 14 meals per month for a family of four, or 11 meals for a family of three,” she said, contending that legislators responsible should feel “the shame that they’re doing something wrong.”

Cole joins a chorus of leftists engaging in the false argument that fiscal conservatives are evil for suggesting we make desperately needed cuts to our runaway spending. If anything, these cuts are far too insignificant to offset the rampant waste for which the federal government has become known.

No one is advocating the starvation of America’s poor; however, the political left has long encouraged families to rely on a monthly government check instead of their own resourcefulness and skill. Since welfare has become a way of life for a large percentage of the population, fewer producers exist to support more consumers.

These real economic considerations have no bearing on the utopian worldview of those who favor a nanny state and unfettered social program spending. Likewise, these vacuous talking heads rarely address the reduced standard of living among those not feeding at the government trough.

As Americans continue to see their hours cut in advance of the looming Obamacare fiasco, and increasing taxes take a bigger bite out of their paychecks, it becomes difficult to muster sympathy for a 3.7 percent decrease in “free” money.

A nation as historically blessed and prosperous as America should absolutely have a safety net in place for those unable to provide for themselves; unfortunately, too many in today’s culture treat it like a hammock.

I Have A Few Questions, Mr. Obama . . .

By Allan Erickson

Obama Little Man Wasnt There SC I have a few questions, Mr. Obama . . .

. . . since the mainstream media won’t ask.

Questions for the President at his next press conference:

Four dead in Benghazi and many seriously injured under suspicious circumstances, a government cover up, witnesses gagged, questions unanswered, investigations derailed.  That’s not a scandal?

Reporters’ records seized, false allegations leveled by DOJ, reporters threatened, reporters and editors prevented from doing their jobs, cover-ups, government intimidation.  That’s not a scandal?

Guns run to drug cartels in Mexico, hundreds killed with them (including our border agents), no following-up to arrest perpetrators (instead ANOTHER cover-up), allegations that American guns cause Mexican violence, border security virtually ignored, government interference with investigations.  That’s not a scandal?

The EPA used as a legislative arm of the executive branch, installing rules that Congress voted down (a clear violation of the Constitution.)  The EPA also used to persecute political opposition.  Not a scandal?

NSA surveillance you authorized seriously suspected of violating citizen rights, and that’s not a scandal?

Recess appointments and an illegal war in Libya, both impeachable offenses.  Not a scandal?

The IRS used to stomp down conservative groups so they cannot educate and influence citizens about Founding principles that contradict your radicalism.  This is clearly an unconstitutional use of power, amounting to illegal political activity.  That is a phony scandal?

ObamaCare, passed illegally and unethically; called a train wreck by the very man who helped write it and get it through Congress; promises to bankrupt the country; a measure designed to redistribute wealth and not provide care; a series of laws and regulations violating privacy, the doctor-patient relationship, and the sovereignty of the states.  That is not a scandal?

Your records, Mr. President.  You’ve released virtually nothing about your life, your education, your term in the Illinois legislature, nothing.  Now a respected country sheriff and his investigators, along with document experts, insist that the birth certificate you released is a forgery.  This means you are hiding something, that it is likely you are not ‘natural born,’ a requirement in the Constitution for becoming President.  And this is not a scandal, Mr. Obama?

What would qualify as a scandal in your view, Mr. Obama?  Oh.  That’s right. You have already answered that question.  It’s scandalous for citizens to own guns, possess private property, keep the fruits of their labor, determine for themselves what kind of schools they prefer, select their own doctor, speak up about matters of conscience, freely exercise their religion, advocate original founding principles, or worse yet, join the Tea Party.

Critics accuse Canada's Conservative Party of ‘politicizing history’

By hnn

The release of the Canadian Museum of Civilization’s first research strategy — following a two-year process of reflection that was nearly derailed by the federal government’s decision last year to rename it the Museum of History and rewrite its mandate — has revived the age-old debate over the politicization of Canadian history.

With Canada’s 150th birthday approaching in 2017, and the bicentennial of the War of 1812 just passed with unusual fanfare, the public’s appreciation of Canadian history is ripe for revision, and not just because some of the flagship national museum’s exhibits date to the 1990s, not long after it was renamed from the National Museum of Man. From the rewritten citizenship guide that undid years of Liberal ideological dominance, to the renaming of Canadian military units to honour the monarchy, history is increasingly the lens through which the country sees itself, and a ripe target for those who wish to change it.

Now that the words “critical understanding” have been struck from the museum’s mandate, however, critics fear that history without criticism becomes propaganda….

Inside Boehner’s Strategy To Slow Walk Immigration To The Finish Line

By Breaking News

John Boehner SC Inside Boehners Strategy to Slow Walk Immigration to the Finish Line

House Republicans head home for the August break having done little to pass immigration reform, falling well short of Speaker John Boehner’s goal of voting on legislation before next week’s monthlong recess begins. But far from a failure of leadership, top House Republicans are casting the inaction as a tactical play designed to boost reform’s chances.

Keeping immigration on the back-burner helps avoid a recess filled with angry town-hall meetings reminiscent of the heated August 2009 protests where the backlash against health care reform coalesced. Doing nothing also starves Democrats of a target, Republicans argue.

“August was a central part of our discussions. People don’t want to go home and get screamed at,” a House GOP leadership aide said.

Instead, they’ll go home and talk about the need to stop government overreach, trying to draw voters’ attention back to the now largely dormant IRS controversy and the dismantling of Obamacare, a message that plays well with the Republican base.

But more than that, Republicans say, the delay in dealing with immigration helps them internally.

There Will Be a Maybach Successor and It Will Be a Benz

By Jens Meiners

1997 Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept

Mercedes will place a new S-class atop its range to replace Maybach, much like this Mercedes Maybach concept from 1997.

Mercedes-Benz is readying an ultra-luxury version of the new S-class that is being designed to take over at a slightly lower market position than the ill-begotten Maybach. Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche told Automotive News that the vehicle would compete with vehicles in the $200,000–$250,000 range—rather than the 400-large-and-up bracket Maybach inhabited. He added that the technological and luxury content will top that of the 2014 S-class as currently offered in the marketplace.

The highest-priced S-class to reside outside this über-luxurious range-topping S-class will the the upcoming S65 AMG—which we hear will bow in Los Angeles this November—the AMG models, however, place high emphasis on extreme power and ostentatious sportiness. Benz’s challenger to the Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls-Royce Ghost would have to display more restraint and a more-conservative style. The upcoming high-level S-class could have a slightly longer wheelbase than even the long-wheelbase model we get stateside, but it won’t come close to the now-discontinued Maybach 62.

Daimler’s decision means that the brand will abandon the segment occupied by both the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62, which competed head-on with the Rolls-Royce Phantom and the Bentley Mulsanne. Born out of the inability to snatch up either Bentley or Rolls-Royce brands, Maybach never came close to achieving its projected market performance, and has been regarded as an unnecessary aberration for Daimler at best.

At the S-class launch in May, Mercedes chief designer Gorden Wagener told us that the new S-class is positioned “a half-segment above the outgoing model,” and that its “classic lines” would make it a credible successor of the Maybach. Our own sources tell us that one of the styling elements of the upcoming, top-level S-class will be traditionally styled, high-gloss, machined wheels. The new model is expected to arrive in 2015 as a 2016 model.

Congress’ Plan To Exterminate Every Last Tea Partier

By Floyd Brown

Congress Congress Plan to Exterminate Every Last Tea Partier

I love the Tea Party members of Congress. They’re courageous, principled, and, at times, innovative in their use of legislative rules to make major statements about policy. It’s too bad they face a wily foe who poses as their friend. You see, the GOP leadership in Congress is committed to Tea Party failure, especially concerning Obamacare.

The latest Tea Party initiative is Senator Mike Lee’s plan to kill the continuing resolution (the bill that funds the government) unless Obamacare is stripped of funding. Lee’s plan is a good one; but sadly, I’m going to predict its failure.

In the end, Republicans who claim to be against Obamacare will scurry like scared children to protect Obamacare’s funding — just as they’ve done at the passage of each continuing resolution since they captured Congress in 2010.

Lee described his plan this way to WBAL Radio:

“I’ll utilize every procedural mechanism at my disposal to do it.” He continued, “I generally don’t signal in advance what procedural maneuvers exactly I’ll use because it’s usually not good strategy. But what I am saying is I will not vote for a continuing resolution that contains funding for further Obamacare implantation and enforcement. So far I have got, I don’t know, 13 or 14 Senate Republicans who have joined me. I think a corresponding effort is starting to be kicked off in the House. And I expect these numbers to grow steadily as Americans realize the president has said he’s not going to implement the law as written. If he’s not going to implement the law, we shouldn’t be forced to fund it.”

The Lee plan is based on sound logic. If Obama won’t follow the law as passed, why should Congress continue to fund his autocratic and capricious manipulation of the program?

The problem Senator Lee and other principled members of Congress don’t seem to grasp is that their plan disrupts the business-as-usual consensus that governs Washington. Their bold plan endangers the power of the established elite and the Republicans who enjoy being part of that elite.

In reality, here’s how the situation will unfold.

Mike Lee will announce the Tea Party plan to great fanfare. Many Republicans in the Senate and in the House will embrace the plan. But the elite in both parties will come together and congeal to protect the status quo. They’ll work to get other conservatives to attack the plan and muddy the waters. They won’t attack the substance of the plan; they’ll  just knock it for being unrealistic or unobtainable.

In fact, a conservative senator -Tom Coburn- has already gotten the ball rolling. He blasted the plan right on cue.

Coburn explained his opposition to the Lee plan to the Washington Examiner: “I’d be leading the charge if I thought this would work. But it will not work.”

And he charged Senator Lee and others of being dishonest: “The worst thing is being dishonest with your base about what you can accomplish, ginning everybody up and then creating disappointment… It’s a terribly dangerous and not successful strategy… You’re …read more

Obama’s Secret Meeting To Screw Conservatives

By Floyd G. Brown

abolish the irs 300x300 Obamas Secret Meeting to Screw Conservatives

Recently, IRS official William Wilkins has been implicated in the IRS scandal that targeted Obama’s political opponents. And Capitol Hill Daily has now learned he may have personally discussed his actions with President Obama – just days before Wilkins’ office released new procedures for how the IRS reviews conservative groups.

White House visitor logs confirm that a “William Wilkins” was at the White House on April 23, 2012, specifically to meet with Obama. Was it the same Wilkins? Unfortunately, everyone who can answer that question is hiding behind a lawyer.

Regardless, it’s now clear that directions were given to the IRS officials in Cincinnati from the highest levels of government to target perceived opponents of President Obama. This was no low-level operation. All of the testimony points up the chain of command.

This is a gross violation of the IRS rules intended to keep the agency above or outside of politics. The IRS should never be involved in promoting partisan politics.

If this was an isolated scandal, one might forgive the agency. But this is only one of multiple scandals that show the agency has become a nest of corruption.

A Laundry List of Scandals

Where to begin?

The IRS is giving incarcerated criminals who submit fraudulent returns tens of millions of dollars in refunds. These are dollars that felons aren’t eligible to receive. The fraud figure increases every year, and at last tally, the IRS dealt north of $35 million to crooks, according to a federal audit.

The IRS also gave one million noncitizens, most in the United States illegally, approximately $9 billion in tax credits – even though they didn’t provide valid Social Security numbers on their tax returns.

The IRS also handed out $33 million in bogus electric car credits.

Recently, two dozen IRS employees were charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in government welfare, including food stamps and housing vouchers. The scheme fleeced U.S. taxpayers out of at least a quarter of a million dollars, according to federal prosecutors on the case.

Another scary prospect is the empowerment of the IRS as part of Obamacare. The IRS will be the go-to agency for enforcing the fines on Americans who don’t buy the expensive, mandated health insurance plans.

As the abuses multiply, it’s time to seriously consider the only real fix.

A Clear Solution

The fix that will end this pattern of scandals is total abolition of the IRS.

And I’m happy to report a movement is building on Capitol Hill to actually abolish the IRS. You see, only abolition can protect us from an agency which has become bathed in scandal.

Abolishing the agency would be easier than most understand. All Congress would have to do is simplify the tax system. With a changed system, we could end the aggressive, highly discretionary and unfair targeting by the IRS. Either a flat tax or a national consumption tax would allow the agency to be eliminated while improving compliance and increase revenues.

Several members of Congress have taken up the battle and called …read more

Sirius Looks To Cruise Past Guidance Again

By Trefis Team, Contributor

Quick Take Sirius XM will report Q2 2013 earnings on July 25, and we expect strong results driven by healthy subscriber growth and the adoption of Internet add-on service. The company recently reported that it gained 715,000 net subscribers in the second quarter and has raised its full year guidance to 1.5 million. In the long term, we expect the company to gain more than 1.5 million subscribers annually and believe that even the current guidance may turn out to be conservative. Sirius XM will report its Q2 2013 earnings on July 25. We expect strong results driven by healthy subscriber gains and higher average revenue per subscriber. U.S. car buyers purchased roughly 1.4 million cars and light trucks in June, bringing the half year new vehicle sales to about 7.8 million. This implies growth of roughly 7.7% over the first half of 2012 which suggests that the U.S. automotive industry could see another record year as sales continue to climb since the recession of 2008-2009. As a result, Sirius XM had another good quarter and recently reported net subscriber gain of 715,000, which prompted it to raise its full year guidance to 1.5 million net subscriber additions. …read more

Atheist Group Wants Holocaust Memorial To Remove Star Of David

By B. Christopher Agee

Atheist SC Atheist group wants Holocaust memorial to remove Star of David

Extremists representing the Freedom from Religion Foundation recently targeted the planned design of a Holocaust memorial in Ohio because it includes a Star of David. One wonders where the Jewish symbol would be appropriate if not such a somber site.

Butting into another state’s affairs, as the FFRF so often does from its home base in Wisconsin, group co-presidents Don Barker and Annie Gaylor sent a letter to those behind the Statehouse Holocaust Memorial.

The hypersensitive correspondence predicts displaying a Star of David at the destination “would create the legal precedent” for “an equally large or larger permanent Latin cross on Capitol grounds.” The godless complainants continued by suggesting the memorial is nothing less than a “constitutionally problematic endorsement of religion.”

While the structure is set to be erected on public property near the State Capitol, there is nothing legally prohibitive regarding the display of such a memorial. Atheist bullies, including those in the FFRF, care little about the law, though, relying solely on intimidation in their quest to eliminate any semblance of faith in public.

This phenomenon is an utter bastardization of the First Amendment and resonates only with the most bitter God-haters among us.

Though a large portion of those killed during the Holocaust were not Jewish, the monument’s designs also feature a unique memorial to all victims and local heroes who helped free concentration camp prisoners. Of course, that will satisfy those preoccupied with attacking traditional symbols of faith; and community leaders now find themselves in the unenviable position of deciding whether to cave to atheist demands or stand on principle.

At times such as this, I sincerely wish this nation’s faithful were as loud and direct concerning their belief as are those who are trying to silence us.
