Sony Pictures gave fans at today’s San Diego Comic-Con their first look at their upcoming RoboCop reboot. Stars Joel Kinnaman, Abbie Cornish, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton and director Jose Padilha were all on hand to screen some footage from the 2014 release.
The first sequence shown was a TV news set-piece following OmniCorp’s deployment of battle droids and ED-209s during the American occupation of Iran during “Operation Freedom.” The TV reporter embedded with the robot military unit is touting their success at keeping the peace — which we see is the pure intimidation of unarmed citizens — when an explosion rocks the street and the OmniCorp droids turn lethal. This entire TV news segment is hosted by Pat Novak, a firebrand pundit on a Fox News-style network. (Jackson described his character as “Rush Sharpton” in a nod to the outspoken duo of Rush Limbaugh and Al Sharpton.)

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. (Applause.) Thank you, everybody. (Laughter.) How do you like my new entrance music? (Applause.) Rush Limbaugh warned you about this — second term, baby. (Laughter and applause.) We’re changing things around here a little bit. (Laughter.)
Actually, my advisors were a little worried about the new rap entrance music. (Laughter.) They are a little more traditional. They suggested that I should start with some jokes at my own expense, just take myself down a peg. I was like, guys, after four and a half years, how many pegs are there left? (Laughter.)
I want to thank the White House Correspondents. Ed, you’re doing an outstanding job. We are grateful for — (applause) — the great work you’ve done. To all the dignitaries who are here, everybody on the dais — I especially want to say thank you to Ray Odierno, who does outstanding service on behalf of our country, and all our men and women in uniform every single day. (Applause.)
And of course, our extraordinary First Lady, Michelle Obama. (Applause.) Everybody loves Michelle. (Laughter.) She’s on the cover of Vogue, high poll numbers. But don’t worry — I recently got my own magazine cover. (Laughter.)
Now, look, I get it. These days, I look in the mirror and I have to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be. (Laughter.) Time passes. You get a little gray. (Laughter.)
And yet, even after all this time, I still make rookie mistakes. Like, I’m out in California, we’re at a fundraiser, we’re having a nice time. I happen to mention that Kamala Harris is the best-looking attorney general in the country. (Laughter.) As you might imagine, I got trouble when I got back home. (Laughter.) Who knew Eric Holder was so sensitive? (Laughter and applause.)
And then there’s the Easter Egg Roll, which is supposed to be just a nice, fun event with the kids. I go out on the basketball court, took 22 shots — made two of them. (Laughter.) That’s right: two hits, 20 misses. The executives at NBC asked, “What’s your secret?” (Laughter and applause.)
So, yes, maybe I have lost a step. But some things are beyond my control. For example, this whole controversy about Jaz-Z going to Cuba — it’s unbelievable. I’ve got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one. (Laughter and applause.) That’s another rap reference, Bill. (Laughter.) I’ll let you know. (Applause.)
Of course, everybody has got plenty of advice. Maureen Dowd said I could solve all my problems if I were just more like Michael Douglas in “The American President.” (Laughter.) And I know Michael is here tonight. Michael, what’s your secret, man? (Laughter.) Could it be that you were an actor in an Aaron Sorkin liberal fantasy? (Laughter.) Might that have something to do with it? (Applause.) I don’t know. Check in with me. Maybe it’s something else. (Laughter.)
Anyway, I recognize that this job can take a toll on you. I understand — second term, you need a burst

On his radio show Thursday, Rush Limbaugh claimed that Democrats craved the “chaos” of gun violence to justify further restrictions on gun possession.

There is something eating away at this country.
A dark, oppressive cloud hovering over America.
Rush Limbaugh said on Monday that America is dying.
We are in the throes of the worst terrorist attack since 9/11. Poison-laced letters are making their way through the mail. Bomb threats are now a daily occurrence. Boston is being managed like a war zone, with other cities quickly falling in line.
With all of this going on, Barack Hussein Obama stood in the Rose Garden yesterday and threw what can only be described as a temper tantrum.
He didn’t get his way—universal background checks for all gun sales—and proceeded to threaten and cajole America for daring to engage in the democratic process.
If it would have been any other day in America, we would have chocked it up to a normal occurrence in the Obama administration.
But it was not a normal day. And there won’t be a normal day for a while.
How could Barack Obama stamp his foot and shake his fist in the midst of a crisis for something that a recent poll said about 4% of the public thinks is important? It doesn’t make sense. It is like something out of a Twilight Zone episode.
It only makes sense if the something that is eaten away at this country, oppressing us, and poisoning us like a toxic cloud, is Barack Hussein Obama.
North Korea is threatening nuclear war, the Middle East is slowly being taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood (who we happen to be in bed with), and our economy is on the verge of collapse as we approach a $20 trillion national debt.
And what is Barack Hussein Obama doing? Playing golf. On another vacation. Hosting a star-studded, multi-million dollar “soul music” celebration and throwing tempter tantrums.
It doesn’t make sense.
It only makes sense if the something that is eating away at this country is in fact Barack Hussein Obama.
And that is exactly what is happening.
It is time to accept the truth, however hard to swallow as Americans, that Barack Hussein Obama’s goal is to destroy the United States of America.
Go ahead, let everyone cry “conspiracy theorist” until hell freezes over. There is no other explanation.
Obama has turned America into a police state, with TSA agents’ presence expanding by the day.
Cameras peek into every nook and cranny of public space.
Bush’s Patriot Act has been discarded for something completely new: simply spy on everyone and everything.
The Utah Data Center in Bluffdale, built by an army of 10,000 construction workers and due to open in September, will be the biggest spy center in the world. The one million square foot facility is so massive that it can store every single electronic communication for the next 100 years—and still have room to spare.
What exactly will the Utah Data Center be storing? Emails. Telephone calls. Tweets. Facebook posts. Travel records. Credit card transactions. Bank records. Stock market trades. Google searches. In a word: everything. Oh, and by the way, this will all be done without

“As a dog that returneth to his vomit, so is the fool that repeateth his folly.” That’s Proverbs 26:11 for a certain popular cable-news host who just returned from a nice Caribbean vacation. And, no, I’m not Bible thumping. I’m O’Reilly thumping.
On Tuesday night’s edition of The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly devoted the first 20 minutes of the show — and another segment later on with Charles Krauthammer — to refuting what he characterized as unfair attacks on his recent positions. And most of that time was spent defending his claim that traditionalists haven’t mounted a compelling argument against faux marriage, that all they can do is “thump the Bible.”
And even though this accusation has brought O’Reilly great criticism, he didn’t back down but doubled down. He said that his commentary was just “honest analysis”; he also said his claim is vindicated because traditionalists are losing the marriage debate, and, opined he, this wouldn’t be happening if they were mounting the better arguments. Is this honest analysis? It is in the sense that O’Reilly believes it. But it isn’t true analysis.
O’Reilly first discussed the matter with Laura Ingraham, whom I like, but both she and later guest Charles Krauthammer completely missed the point. Ingraham simply said that O’Reilly shouldn’t have used the term “thump” and that pro-marriage forces haven’t had that long to ponder the marriage issue and construct arguments (?!), while Krauthammer very articulately exhibited a grasp of the obvious and said that you’re not going to win policy debates with secularists by quoting Scripture. But the real issue is that you’re not going to win debates with anyone if you ignore your best and brightest.
Moreover, it’s not just that there are compelling marriage arguments on the right.

Author’s Note – I began my most recent post with the following:
“I never imagined that I’d find myself quoting Bill’s one-time heart throb (okay, eons of time ago), but using her just happens to suit my purpose. (Guess Bill and I aren’t so different after all….)”
Due to an inadvertent title change (the title was to have been the same as this one’s), readers were no doubt puzzled by this. Hopefully, this will clear things up.
Anyone who registers even the faintest EKG response realizes that the “Mainstream Media” isn’t mainstream. So if you felt your not insignificant intelligence was being insulted…and therefore didn’t dive headlong into the piece, I’d ask you to reconsider, as I believe our perception of the establishment media (which almost no one in this audience either reads or watches) is at the very root of all that ails us…and I mean that with absolute sincerity!
Note that I did not say that the endangered media is the problem, but that our perception of it is. Hear me out….
Every national Conservative pundit I know, with the exception of Rush Limbaugh (who has famously – and accurately – dubbed them the “Drive-by” or “Endangered Media”), Michael Savage, and Joseph Farah (who both refer to them as the “so-called ‘mainstream’ media”), mindlessly refers to them as the “mainstream” or “MSM” – freely bestowing upon them the highest of both compliments and credibility!
Would we have called the Communists’ Pravda (far more conservative today than our own state-controlled press!) the Soviet Union’s “mainstream” media? Of course not! It was nothing more than a state-owned organ of propaganda…and while George Soros may not own the New York Times outright (or even in part), it is clear that he, his allies, and his pawns are in lockstep with its entire agenda. (Obviously everything I have said about the networks applies to the so-called “Newspaper of Record,” as well as to its counterparts from coast to coast – whose viewership and coffers are also universally, and happily, “on the brink.”)
To put this in perspective I will recount an experience I had last spring, when AZ State Representative Carl Seel took me by to introduce me to then Speaker of the House, Andy Tobin. It was a Friday afternoon, perhaps 2:00 or 3:00, and the Speaker had gone for the week, as it turned out. His secretary dutifully wrote down my name and phone number, however, promising to have him call me…which, of course, he never did. I knew little about the Speaker at that time, but have since learned all I need to know: he’s a “Republican” – not a Conservative, and a “politician” – not a Statesman, as best I can tell. (It’s difficult, of course, to know any of our “representatives” well when they refuse to respond to their constituents!
As I left his office that day, and passed through the deserted anteroom, there on a …read more

The talk radio host’s lament stemmed from yesterday morning’s jobs report, which was a “punch to the gut,” if you will.
By The Huffington Post News Editors
Thursday’s big foray in the world of trying to get Beltway pundits to maybe notice that the effects of the sequestration are actually real and kind of a big deal came from The Washington Post’s Sarah Kliff, who reported that “Cancer clinics across the country have begun turning away thousands of Medicare patients, blaming the sequester budget cuts.” The issue involves the intersection of the sequestration’s cuts to Medicare and the expensive pharmaceuticals that oncologists use to treat their patients. Cancer clinics are increasingly finding themselves forced to make a Sophie’s choice that one clinic executive describes as being “between seeing [Medicare] patients and staying in business.”
Kliff’s article has not been sufficient to convince conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh, however, who took to his microphone today to characterize Kliff’s article as “manufactured and made up.” But not long after taking issue with Kliff’s story, Limbaugh got a call from a fan, who tried to set him straight.
Beginning with Kliff, here’s what’s at stake:

Offending the moral sensibilities of millions of Americans, Time Magazine is featuring cover stories showing two white homosexual couples kissing. The Right Scoop blog ran a “censored version of the offensive covers.”
John Aravosis, the homosexual activist who runs Americablog.com, said this is part of a propaganda campaign to normalize homosexuality. He said, “The kiss has been quite a powerful political weapon in the gay arsenal for a while now. And checking our archives, it’s rather amazing how important the ‘gay kiss’ has been to our political struggle over the years.”
The purpose is to desensitize people to homosexuality and increase acceptance of the lifestyle.
Media bias is also evident in the influence of the media-funded National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA).
The NLGJA says coverage of the homosexual marriage debate before the Supreme Court was “balanced—supportive even” and that program hosts “felt compelled to disagree with them [opponents of homosexual marriage] on air.”
We noted the media’s failure to cover the March for Marriage in Washington, D.C.
On the Time cover photos, the NLGJA said, “The black-and-white photos are an interesting, provocative selection. The magazine didn’t opt for family photos of smiling, nonthreatening gay and lesbian families and their kids: It went for the part of same-sex marriage that may be most off-putting to mainstream cultures. The kissing, the sexuality. It’s a bold choice for a mainstream publication to make.”
Regarding the story itself, the NLGJA said it “was largely positive, save for a colorful sentence about AIDS and bathhouses.”
The offensive phrase was that the deadly disease AIDS was “burning outward from the bathhouses…” These are places where anonymous gay sex is common. Homosexuals are determined to keep coverage of the health hazards of homosexuality out of mainstream media.
On his Reliable Sources program, supposedly devoted to media criticism, host Howard Kurtz featured two homosexual rights supporters, John Aravosis and Jennifer Rubin, who writes “The Right Turn” blog for The Washington Post.
Nevertheless, he noted the bias in the coverage, explaining that “Liberal commentators are thrilled that the marriage debate is swinging their way, at least in the court of public opinion, while many conservative pundits were muted or surprisingly supportive.” He cited Bill O’Reilly of Fox News declaring that “The compelling argument is on the side of homosexuals,” and dismissing opponents as Bible-thumpers.
The latter was apparently a reference to the Christian teaching that marriage involves a man and a woman and that homosexuality is prohibited in the Bible because it is unnatural and sinful.
Rush Limbaugh countered: “So how many of you who watch Fox are Bible thumpers? Do you think there are any Bible thumpers, quote/unquote, that watch Fox? Because last night you were sort of marginalized on [O’Reilly’s show] The Factor as not having a compelling argument and just being a bunch of Bible thumpers.”
Limbaugh also noted the influence of the “Gay Mafia,” which he described as “the activist homosexual lobby” contributing “big bucks” to the Democratic Party and leading the campaign for homosexual marriage.
Interestingly, it was Time Magazine that ran a …read more

Most of us fell out of our chairs while watching the mega-hit TV miniseries The Bible when the character portrayed as Satan looked almost exactly like Barack Hussein Obama.
Glenn Beck immediately tweeted out the resemblance, and Rush Limbaugh jumped on the bandwagon the next day.
It was creepy to say the least; and it was reported the Obama administration was in hysterics, with something like fifty million people seeing that particular episode.
Of course, no one honestly thinks Obama is Satan; but the apple does not fall far from the tree.
Last week, the hacker known as Guccifer released a March 21, 2012 email hacked from the account of Colin Powell, an email sent from Andrew Knight, former director of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire News Corp and now working for the Rothchild banking conglomerate. In the email, Knight urges Powell to encourage Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, to attend the playground of the elite, the Bohemian Grove—long known to take part in an occult ceremony called the Cremation of Care, where members wearing red-hooded robes cremate a coffin effigy at the base of an idol they call Moloch. Conspiracy theorist giant Alex Jones infiltrated the Bohemian Grove in 2000 and videotaped the ceremony, where a mock human sacrifice was offered to a god known as Moloch.
Of course, this is the exact kind of ceremony that Satanists take part in, substituting Moloch for Satan himself.
The Bohemian Grove has been called the American version of the Bilderberg Group, a secret gathering of the rich and powerful to decide how the world will be run. The June 2008 Bilderberg meeting at the Westfields Marriott hotel in Chantilly, Virginia was secretly attended by Democratic rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Mysteriously—or not so mysteriously—Clinton shortly thereafter dropped out of the race, obviously Barack Obama being the candidate of the globalists. And if you look very carefully at the mainstream media coverage shortly after the Bilderberg meeting that began on June 6, almost to the day, the mainstream media switched from supporting Clinton to Obama. For example, Politifact, the go-to source for hit jobs on political opponents, ran a smear piece June 3 comparing Obama to Bush. On June 12, Obama released his so-called short-form birth certificate, which was immediately deemed a fraud. But who do you think began defending Obama almost to the day after the Bilderberg meeting? Politifact. For example, on June 13, Politifact began running articles backing Obama’s phony birth certificate and continued to belch out a stream of articles defending Obama on every front.
The Bohemian Grove is a much different breed than its Bilderberg cousin, held in Monte Rio, California a month after the Bilderberg soirée. Only males are admitted, with reports of male prostitutes that “service” the attendees.
The Cremation of Care ritual always takes place—and guess who was rumored to be there? Barack Hussein Obama—although the black hood portrayed in The Bible …read more

Bill O’Reilly exploded at conservative radio host Laura Ingraham Tuesday over her criticism of his argument that gay marriage advocates have a “more compelling” case than gay marriage opponents. O’Reilly claimed last week that opponents simply “thump the Bible” and the biblical argument wasn’t strong enough against reasonable logic that gay Americans just want to be treated like everyone else.
The argument began when Ingraham told the Fox News host that she felt there was a feud between O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh over the issue. She added that she didn’t believe O’Reilly needed to make his comment about “Bible thump.”
“There’s no feud between me and Limbaugh,” he responded. “I don’t talk to Limbaugh.”

You can’t win the fight if you don’t put on the gloves.
A punch-drunk, old heavyweight boxer knows that’s a truism, but not the churches of America.
The Supreme Court heard arguments this week on the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state by a 52 to 47 margin in 2008 but has since been declared unconstitutional by federal courts.
Fox TV, Rush Limbaugh, and other talk-show pundits have weighed in, arguing the conservative — and moral — position that sanctifying gay marriage with the grace of the U.S. Constitution is not only wrong but a serious threat to the culture of this country.
But those media outlets often speak to those who are already in the choir. That leaves a lot of other Americans who aren’t hearing anyone preaching the conservative argument on gay marriage.
I don’t expect the GOP to provide any leadership. Republicans are too busy cat-fighting with each other and making sure their presidential choice will be whooped by Hillary Clinton in 2016.
And where in the heck are the churches on the issue of legalizing gay marriage?
Where are the Protestants, Jews, and Catholics? Have they lost their tongues? Their hearts and wills? Their institutional you-know-whats?
Where’s the moral outrage? Why aren’t thousands of our pastors, priests, and rabbis shouting from their pulpits? Why aren’t they leading their congregations through the streets in mass protest?
Why aren’t their bishops appearing on the tube with David Gregory and Piers Morgan to defend the institution of marriage as a union of one man and one woman?
Like the bank executives who are too chicken to stand up to the federal bullies in Washington, and like the energy company bosses in California who won’t stand up to the Green Socialists in Sacramento, the churches cower in fear.
Are they afraid to lose their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by engaging in political activity? Are they afraid to be derided as religious nuts and cultural Cro-Magnons by the liberal media?
Or are our churches and their comfortable leaders simply no longer willing to fight for what is right?
This fight over Proposition 8 isn’t just about saying it should be legal in the eyes of government for two people of the same sex to get married in California.
It’s ultimately about changing the culture of the entire country; it inevitably will lead to teaching our public school kids that gay marriage is a perfectly fine alternative and no different than traditional marriage. There is also a very slippery slope leading to other alternative relationships and the unconstitutionality of any law based on morality. Think about polygamy, bestiality, and perhaps even murder.
Churches should be in the vanguard of the fight to defend the culture against legalized gay marriage, not hiding in their pews.
Sure, the mainstream liberal media will be against them and will ignore them as much as they can. But if the churches show up en masse — and make sure millions of their members’ voices are heard — the media will be forced to cover them, and even the …read more
