:)

Hello all-

I’m new here so I thought I’d do an intro. I’m a 41 year old married (16 years) Mom of 2 kids. I call myself a child of God but escribe to a baptisty flavored, new covenanty, fundementalisty kind of warm graceyness. I am also a Navy wife so I have a soft spot for military and veterans. My kids are teens and we enjoy all the benefits of growing through this stage in or families journey. Easy and challenging….we all love each other. Since we have moved all over the States, we consider each other as “home”. Currently living in Washington State, we would like to head back to the east coast next tour. My Husband is also in the Lord (praise the Lord) and my kids have been brought up in the faith (albiet we are experienceing some growing pains in areas of faith right now) and will continue to try to set a loving example for our adultlettes. I was a stay at home Mom until 2 years ago. Currently I am coming up on my Senior year as an art student getting my BFA in Visual Communications, doubled majored in Graphic Design and Illustration. I live in such a “blue” state, and go to an art school so finding conservative christian company is covetted by us. Not easy to find. So here I am. Looking for a bit of online company and discussion. I look forward to discussion, debate, prayer, and learning. :)

Dustin Theoharis, Man Shot 16 Times, Files $20 Million Suit Against State Department Of Corrections

By The Huffington Post News Editors

An unarmed Washington state man who was shot 16 times by law enforcement last year has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the Department of Corrections.

In February 2012, police executed a search warrant on the Auburn home where Dustin Theoharis was renting a basement room. Officers were looking for different man — a convicted felon who had violated parole — and after successfully apprehending him proceeded to search the home for firearms, according to KING 5.

A King County sheriff’s deputy and a Washington State corrections officer reportedly found Theoharis in bed and opened fire on him after he reached for what they thought was a gun.

Remarks by the President at a Naturalization Ceremony for Active Duty Service Members and Civilians

By The White House

East Room

11:36 A.M. EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you so much. (Applause.) Well, good morning, everybody. Secretary Napolitano, thank you for administering the oath and making it official. Director Mayorkas, distinguished guests, family and friends, it is a great pleasure to have you here at the White House. And it is an honor to be among the first to greet some of my fellow citizens of the United States.

Today, here in the people’s house — a house designed by an Irish immigrant — we welcome 28 men and women, immigrants themselves, who from this day forward have earned the precious right to call this country home.

And I know this is an incredibly special moment for you and your families, but I have to say, it’s a special moment for the rest of us as well. Because as we look out across this room, we’re reminded that what makes somebody American isn’t just their bloodlines, it’s not just an accident of birth. It’s a fidelity to our founding principles, a faith in the idea that anyone, anywhere, can write the next great chapter in this American story.

That’s the promise of America. And today we know it’s alive and well in each and every one of you.

At first glance, of course, it would be easy to define this group by their differences. They all hail from different corners of the world — from Nigeria to Nicaragua, from the Philippines to Peru. They arrived here in different ways. Some of you came here as children, carried by parents who wished for them a life that they had never had. Others came as adults, leaving behind everything you knew to seek a new life. But what binds you together — what binds us all together — is something more meaningful than anything of that. A love for this country and all that it represents — that’s what unites each and every one of you.

For Nikita Kirichenko — there’s Nikita right here — that love runs so deep it led him to enlist in our military. Nikita came here at the age of 11 from Ukraine. His mother saw America as the one place on Earth where her son could do anything he wanted. And a few years ago, Nikita decided that he wanted to join the Air Force so that, in his words, “I could give back to a country that took me in and gave me a better life.” Thank you, Nikita. Today, we proudly salute him not just as a member of our military but also as a citizen of our country.

Today, we salute Elrina Brits. Where did Elrina go? There she is. Elrina was born in South Africa, came here as a child, grew up in Washington State. When Elrina decided to join the Navy, somebody told her that she wouldn’t be able to …read more

Northern Oil Might Not Be Cheap for Long

By Matthew DiLallo, The Motley Fool

Filed under:

Canada has a problem. While it might have the world’s second-largest crude oil source, right now its oil is way too cheap. Before you start to get excited that the price might come down at the pump, I should warn you: The reason that oil is cheap is that its stuck up there. Blame the lack of pipeline capacity to take that oil to the refining marketplace. So, just how cheap is Canadian crude oil you ask? Take a look at the chart below:

Source: Enbridge Investor Presentation

A price differential that large — more than $40 — is causing producers to get creative to get Canadian oil to market. They need to be creative, because as tough as it is for current producers, it could get much worse. There is an impressive list of projects expected to begin production over the next few years. Among them is ExxonMobil‘s massive Kearl oil sands project. The $12.9 billion project is eventually expected to produce 345,000 barrels of oil per day.

That oil, along with the myriad other production projects ramping up over the coming years, needs access to the refining market. The good news is that there are two catalysts on the horizon that, when taken together, should help provide a boost to the price of oil even as more of it starts flowing. While that might not be what your wallet wants to hear, it is better than shipping that oil to China or continuing to import it from the Middle East.

Increasing rail capacity and utilization
While Canadian producers aren’t fond of selling lower-priced crude, oil refiner Phillips 66 is working overtime to increase its access to this price-advantaged crude oil. For every dollar per barrel the company can save, it equates to $450 million being added to its bottom line. To help make this happen the company has ordered 2,000 rail cars to transport crude oil to its refineries. It also recently signed an agreement to have Canadian crude oil shipped by rail and then barge to its refinery in Washington State.

Source: Phillips 66

Many others are joining the crude oil by rail bonanza. Among them, Canadian National Railway , which didn’t move any crude oil two years ago. This year the company is projected to move 30,000 carloads of oil. What’s really quite amazing is that everyone wins. Refiners access cheaper crude oil, rail company’s enjoy the transportation earnings and producers are able to earn $18 per barrel more than oil shipped by pipe because of all those pipeline bottlenecks. The big question is if these are just temporary profits until those pipeline bottlenecks get sorted out.

Significant pipeline expansions
Rail is hot today, but will it be needed tomorrow. The U.S. imports 15% of its oil from Canada. Of that, more than half of it comes through a pipeline owned by …read more

Washington Gov. Inslee Joins Bates Technical College and Ameresco to Announce Next Round of Energy Efficiency Grants

Ceremony and tour with Bates Technical College officials showcase building improvements completed with Ameresco as a result of previous state grants

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. & TACOMA, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Ameresco Inc. (NYS: AMRC) , a leading energy efficiency and renewable energy company, joined with officials from Bates Technical College to host Gov. Jay Inslee and local leaders on Wednesday, March 13, to announce the award recipients for the second round of 2012 energy efficiency grants from the Washington State Department of Commerce. Ameresco customers awarded grants include: Olympic College, Pierce Colleges, Green River Community College, City of Olympia, City of Renton, City of Edmonds, City of Kirkland, City of Lacey, Spokane County, Island County, Grays Harbor County, Okanagan County, Kittitas County, and the Port of Longview.

Bates Technical College, a previous state grant recipient, partnered with Ameresco to complete a multi-phase $5 million energy efficiency upgrade project for the College. The $2.1 million in State energy efficiency grants Bates received was part of the 2010 Jobs Act, which like those announced today, supported energy and operational efficiency projects that create jobs and reduce costs.

The energy project at Bates focused on updating building systems at the College’s Downtown Campus, South Campus and Mohler Campus facilities. The improvements have increased energy efficiency and upgraded important facility systems, which in turn have helped Bates Technical College to save energy, reduce costs and lower the college’s carbon footprint.

“The energy efficiency improvements completed by Bates Technical College and Ameresco demonstrate the tremendous progress being made with these state grants towards a more sustainable future for Washington State,” said Ron Langrell, President of Bates Technical College. “The approach used here serves as a powerful example to other educational institutions and organizations as it demonstrates how large-scale energy efficiency projects can both drive sustainability and economic development.”

In addition to Gov. Inslee, the event hosted at the South Campus featured Bates Technical College President Ron Langrell, Bates Trustee and Labor Representative Mike Grunwald, Department of Commerce Director Brian Bonlender, Tacoma Power Superintendent Ted Coates, Fritz Feiten of Ameresco, Noah Reandeau representing the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council, and student representatives.

Bates Technical College was honored to host Gov. Inslee to highlight the benefits of these grants and to showcase how our work with Ameresco has benefited …read more

Lawmakers “Accidentally” Legalize Warrantless Invasion Of Gun Owners’ Homes

By Daniel Noe

Guns SC Lawmakers “Accidentally” legalize warrantless invasion of gun owners homes

Lawmakers in Washington State have accidentally written a bill permitting police to invade private homes for the purpose of confiscating “illegal” guns and accessories, such as magazines that hold over 10 rounds.

According to Senate Bill 5737, introduced on February 13th by Democrat State Senators Murray, Kohl-Welles, and Kline, no one may possess an “assault weapon” or the combination of a semi-automatic pistol or rifle capable of using a detachable magazine AND any magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammo.

Happily, however, you ARE allowed to possess an UNLOADED assault weapon “…for the purpose of permanently relinquishing it to a law enforcement agency of the state.”  (Pg. 6)

Naturally, the statute would NOT apply to police, members of law enforcement in the state, or to federal authorities; in short, the oft-referred to “only ones.” That is, the only ones, the political ruling class tells us, who can be trusted with firearms.

However, if one happens to own an “assault weapon” prior to the effective date of the legislation, he may keep it IF he agrees to “safely and securely store the assault weapon.” And by the way, “THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY MAY, NO MORE THAN ONCE PER YEAR, CONDUCT AN INSPECTION TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE…” Not surprisingly, safe and secure storage is not defined in the bill. (Pg. 7)

Also not surprisingly, this language was quickly deleted from the bill immediately upon lawmakers learning of the public outrage their little foray into dictatorship had spawned.

Yet, in order to provide cover for the bill’s sponsors and fellow liberals, duplicitous “journalist” Danny Westneat is hoping to sell Washington gun owners on the laughable story that the whole thing was just an unfortunate mistake! According to Westneat, one of the bill’s sponsors, Democrat Adam Kline “…did not know the bill authorized police searches because he had not read it closely before signing on.” Naturally, ALL prospective laws should be written without paying much attention to what’s in them!

And the PRIME sponsor, Democrat Ed Murray, admitted that the language was “probably unconstitutional.” “I have to admit that shouldn’t be in there,” allowed the munificent liberal.

PROBABLY unconstitutional?  Here is the 4th Amendment to the Constitution:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

And by the way, MR. Murray, how were your “only ones” to know which homes to enter and search? Could it be that mandatory, statewide gun registration was to become the next in your series of “common sense” gun laws?

But even with the Orwellian language now removed, SB 5737 is an affront to the God-given rights of the American people. After all, the bill still states that, should one inherit an “assault weapon,” he must either dispose of it by allowing law …read more

Colorado Anti-NDAA Bill Heads To Committee

By Breaking News

PANDASealBlueBlack Colorado Anti NDAA Bill Heads to Committee

Colorado’s “anti-NDAAlegislation was first introduced and assigned to the House State, Military, and Veteran Affairs Committee last month. Now, on Feb. 13, the bill will reach its first hearing.

Colorado’s bill is another in a string of similar bills in other states introduced this legislative session to combat and stop certain provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

Similar to Washington State’s legislationColorado’s version focuses on the problems with Section 1021 of the 2012 NDAA that purportedly authorizes the inclusion of U.S. citizens in its definition of “covered persons,” i.e. suspected terrorists, who can be indefinitely detained by the military without charge or trial.

The bill declares Colorado is not a “battlefield” subject to the “laws of war” and prohibits the detention, capture, or use of deadly force against any person in Colorado without charge or trial.

While the committee is the notorious place where bills go to die, lobbying action from the American Civil Liberties Union is giving the legislation a fighting chance. It’s reported that the bill appears to have enough votes to get it out of committee.

Supporters of the bill are urged to contact members of the committee to ensure it passes onto the floor. (Out-of-state supporters are also urged to contact members of the committee, without mentioning the state they are calling/emailing from.)

One call. Two emails. Change history.

Wave of UFO Sightings in Victoria, B.C. January 14, 2013

By ScottCWaring

Date of sighting: January 11, 2013
Location of sighting: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

COMOX VALLEY – A B.C. UFO investigator says 2013 is already shaping up to be a busier-than-normal year for sightings of unusual lights and strange flying objects.
Brian Vike authors a blog entitled The Vike Factor and has investigated more than 11,000 reports from across Canada and around the world. Vike says there was a spike in activities on the morning of January 11th when triangular shaped objects and unusual lights were seen over Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. The sightings followed an asteroid, which streaked over the skies of B.C. and Washington State.
One report indicates a mother witnessed a large school bus sized triangular object in the sky just after she dropped her children off for school. The witness reported seeing the solid object moving along until it started to hover and had three balls of orange light on each point. The witness reported to Vike that the balls of light went into the centre of the object before it disappeared.
Vike estimates around 90% of what is reported to him can be easily explained, whether it’s by people seeing the International Space Station flying overhead, or Chinese lanterns taking to the sky or flares being dropped from aircrafts. Others he is still struggling to explain.
Vike’s blog can be found at http://britishcolumbiaufos.blogspot
