Kevin Smith Readies Walrus Movie

We’re a bit late to the party on this one, but as it’s such an intriguing story, we thought we’d post…

Following the climax of Comic-Con last week, writer-director Kevin Smith took to Facebook to explain that his next film – Tusk – is set to shoot in Los Angeles and on location in Canada in September, in the hope that it will be finished in time for the Sundance Film Festival.

The crazy comes from the fact that the film’s premise comes from a by-now infamous Gumtree advert in which a Brighton resident sought a lodger to dress up as a walrus.

Nikita: When Will We See the Final Episodes?

While Nikita is returning for a fourth and final season on The CW, it hasn’t been clear when we’ll see it, with the show only listed as returning midseason. In addition, with the limited six-episode season, there has been the question of how it will air. Last week at Comic-Con, Maggie Q told us (check out the interview below) there was some talk of airing the six episodes in three installments, as two-hour TV movies.

However, asked about Nikita today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed, “The game plan for Nikita is not for three ‘two-hour movies.’ It is individual episodes.” He added, “We may end up doing a two-hour finale after we wrap the first four episodes.”

Days of Future Past Site Teases More Sentinels

Ever since we heard the next X-Men movie would be an adaptation of the classic Days of Future Past storyline, it was clear that Sentinels would be involved. And we did get confirmation of those giant, mutant-killing robots at Comic-Con this month when a big Sentinel head showed up on the streets of San Diego. But now, the viral site for the film, Trask-Industries.com, has evolved from just a landing page to a full-blown in-universe history of the movie version of the automatons. Some possible very mild spoilers follow for the film.

Kat Dennings Heads Into Thor 2 Reshoots

Marvel unveiled the first real, and somewhat shocking, footage from Thor: The Dark World at Comic-Con, much to the delight of fans earlier this month. As we know, the film will do a reverse trajectory and spend a great deal more time on Asgard for the second installment.

However, we do know that there is rumored to be a (relatively) significant portion of the story that takes place on Earth as well. In fact, Kat Dennings, who plays Darcy Lewis, Jane Foster’s research assistant, in the film was said to have an extended role in The Dark World.

The Very Best of Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con came and went with a whole bunch of madness in between. If you followed IGN’s coverage last weekend, you might have noticed that there were quite a few notable pieces of news that came out of the event.

You can still see all of it over at our Comic-Con index, but we thought it’d be fun to break down the best of the best across movies, TV, and comics.

The surprise of the con, Warner Bros.’ reveal that the sequel to Man of Steel will actually be a Batman/Superman movie shook Hall H like Krypton in its final hours. We know almost nothing about the film aside from the fact that director Zack Snyder and scripter David Goyer will be back, and that it is scheduled for 2015. Oh, and that it’s going to probably be called Batman Vs. Superman. Yes, the Dark Knight returns…

Sandra Bullock On ‘The Heat 2’: ‘I Can’t Imagine It’

By The Huffington Post News Editors

“The Heat,” Paul Feig’s hilarious buddy cop comedy with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, has been one of the surprise hits of this summer, earning $130 million in North America since its release on June 28. Before “The Heat” even debuted, studio Twentieth Century Fox commissioned screenwriter Katie Dippold to work on a sequel, owing to the advance buzz humming off the comedy in the lead-up to its premiere.

“I really like the idea we have for the sequel. I’m really excited about it,” Dippold told HuffPost Entertainment in an interview. “I can’t say what it is. I wish I could. I really wish I could, but I can’t: I would be immediately fired and murdered. But I really think it could be so fun. So I’m hopeful that we get to do it.”

Unfortunately, Dippold may not get the chance. Speaking with EW.com at Comic-Con, Bullock said she wasn’t interested in doing a sequel to “The Heat” at this stage in her career.

‘Orphan Black’ Season 2: Producers Spill On What’s Next For Tatiana Maslany And Friends

By The Huffington Post News Editors

It’s not often that a recent Supreme Court ruling comes up during a discussion of a cult TV show, let alone at a Comic-Con panel that, for the most part, feels like a raucous rock concert.

But such is the short, weird, extraordinary life of BBC America’s “Orphan Black,” one of the most well-received dramas in recent memory. In a few short months, it’s gone from obscure newcomer to buzzworthy pop-culture favorite, with critics, high-profile fans and a loyal audience keeping the show in the public eye long after its June 1 season finale.

(This post assumes you’ve seen the first season of “Orphan Black.” If you haven’t, get on that and come on back when you’re done.)

Diesel Says Marvel Role Has "Love Story"

You put Vin Diesel in a Marvel movie and the box office breaks, right? I mean, that’s gotta be what Marvel boss Kevin Feige is thinking with all this talk about Diesel joining a Marvel film as… somebody.

But if it happens, who will he play? Nobody is talking, but Diesel himself continues to drop hints about the role. Here’s what he told EW at Comic-Con this past weekend.

“Marvel was excited about bring

a different kind of relationship, a different kind of love story, I guess kind of inspired from the Dom-Letty relationship, into the Marvel universe,” the actor says. Dom-Letty, of course, refers to his and Michelle Rodriguez’ characters from the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Wadlow Talks X-Force

Kick-Ass 2 writer-director Jeff Wadlow was at Comic-Con this weekend promoting the return of Dave Lizewski, but his involvement writing the screenplay for Fox’s young mutants flick X-Force of course also came up.

“I love the current

incarnation, Uncanny X-Force,” Wadlow told Slash Film. “I love what

Rob Liefeld did in the nineties. I remember buying X-Force 1 and what I’ve really loved about the announcement that we are working on the movie is how excited people are by the potential, but also how curious they are like ‘What’s the line up?’ What’s interesting with X-Men, I mean they have an iconic lineup, so you know who is going to be in that movie, but X-Force it’s like ‘Who is it going to be?’ I love that people are guessing.”

Gillian Anderson: Sex Scene With David Duchovny On ‘The X-Files’ Never Happened’ (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Gillian Anderson wanted to set the record straight about a comment she made during Comic-Con this year. She dropped by “The Tonight Show” to clear up any misunderstanding. It wasn’t a misunderstanding of what she said exactly, though. That part everyone is getting exactly right.

At Comic-Con, Anderson reunited with her “The X-Files” co-star, David Duchovny, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show. While there, she told the press that the pair once shot a sex scene that never made it to TV. As it turns out, this never happened.

“I made a joke about it, but it isn’t true. There wasn’t one. We did have sex, because we had a child,” Anderson said of their characters. “We didn’t film the process of making the child.”

DC Team-Up Likely Called Batman Vs. Superman

So a Superman/Batman team-up movie is happening. Director Zack Snyder’s announcement at the Warner Bros. panel on Saturday was perhaps the biggest news out of Comic-Con this weekend. And while we know almost nothing about the film, it turns out Man of Steel co-writer David Goyer, who is also penning the sequel, let slip the likely name of the film at a different panel.

Goyer said the following at the Superman 75th Anniversary Panel, but the reveal was drowned out in the craziness of the day’s bigger Hall H panels: “We aren’t sure if the title will be Batman Vs Superman or Superman Vs Batman, but they will face off.” (Snyder did say on Saturday that that the iconic The Dark Knight Returns — wherein the two fight it out — will “inform” the film.)

Gina Carano is Taking Avengelyne to the Big Screen

MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano is set to play the eponymous character in the big screen adaptation of Rob Liefeld’s comic book series Avengelyne.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carano and Liefeld are “re-conceiving” and “rebuilding” the title as a vehicle for the actress, and the proposed film(s) will carry a tone akin to Kate Beckinsale’s pulpy Underworld franchise. For those unfamiliar with the Image comic book series, it centers around a fallen angel who now fights demons on Earth using her considerable super strength.

Carano and Liefeld were at Comic-Con last week to promote a relaunch of the series, and according to THR the search is now on for a writer or writer-director for the movie adaptation.

What Was Saints Row IV's Original, Insane Ending?

A slew of Saints Row IV talent, including creative director Steve Jaros and actor Troy Baker held a panel at Comic-Con and doled out some neat tidbits regarding the game. Perhaps most interestingly, the original ending to Saints IV was meant to unfold as an extended Bollywood musical sequence. Yep, that was almost a thing.

The team at Volition loved this idea, and went as far as to looking into a choreographer and seeking out the perfect song. Sadly, they realized that this would take too much time in order to meet the August 20 release date, so the ambitious finale was eventually scrapped.

Another fantastically insane detail that trickled out during the panel was that SRIV’s first piece of DLC is set to hit 45 days after the game launches. Enter the Dominatrix, which was originally slated to be an expansion for Saints Row: The Third, will be presented a mockumentary of content that had to be cut from the game. Ambitious, indeed.

Comic-Con Stuntmen Rescue Woman Dangling From Balcony In San Diego (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

A group of Comic-Con stuntmen in San Diego put their daredevil skills to heroic use on Thursday when they rescued a woman who appeared to be about to jump from a 14-story balcony.

Gregg Sergeant, one of the three stuntmen from a company called Stunts 911, told the station that they reacted after hearing people yell, “Don’t jump!” and causing a commotion.

In a cellphone video obtained by 10News, one stuntman seems to sneak up behind the woman and grab her to prevent a jump or fall.

Comic-Con And Hollywood's Fan Girl Problem

By Dorothy Pomerantz, Forbes Staff

Heading to Comic-Con, I expected the massive convention crowd to be heavily male. After all, we’re told again and again that young male teens are the main demographic for these movies. Hollywood puts almost no effort into attracting women or young girls to their biggest blockbusters so why should very many girls make the expensive pilgrimage to San Diego? …read more

Konami Hints at Next Castlevania Game

A new Castlevania game was teased at Comic-Con, alongside the announcement that it would not be developed by MercurySteam, the team behind Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate, and the upcoming Lords of Shadow 2.

During a roundtable interview attended by GameSpot, Castlevania producer David Cox remarked about certain mistakes made during previous installments in the series, and how Konami intends on fixing them in the future.

“We have to really plan differently and do things differently. And we’ve made mistakes on this one, as well, which we’re going to hopefully improve for the next one,” Cox said. “I think it’s a learning process and I think game developers are learning every day how to do things better.”
