Sandra Bullock On ‘The Heat 2’: ‘I Can’t Imagine It’

By The Huffington Post News Editors

“The Heat,” Paul Feig’s hilarious buddy cop comedy with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, has been one of the surprise hits of this summer, earning $130 million in North America since its release on June 28. Before “The Heat” even debuted, studio Twentieth Century Fox commissioned screenwriter Katie Dippold to work on a sequel, owing to the advance buzz humming off the comedy in the lead-up to its premiere.

“I really like the idea we have for the sequel. I’m really excited about it,” Dippold told HuffPost Entertainment in an interview. “I can’t say what it is. I wish I could. I really wish I could, but I can’t: I would be immediately fired and murdered. But I really think it could be so fun. So I’m hopeful that we get to do it.”

Unfortunately, Dippold may not get the chance. Speaking with EW.com at Comic-Con, Bullock said she wasn’t interested in doing a sequel to “The Heat” at this stage in her career.

Diesel Says Marvel Role Has "Love Story"

You put Vin Diesel in a Marvel movie and the box office breaks, right? I mean, that’s gotta be what Marvel boss Kevin Feige is thinking with all this talk about Diesel joining a Marvel film as… somebody.

But if it happens, who will he play? Nobody is talking, but Diesel himself continues to drop hints about the role. Here’s what he told EW at Comic-Con this past weekend.

“Marvel was excited about bring

a different kind of relationship, a different kind of love story, I guess kind of inspired from the Dom-Letty relationship, into the Marvel universe,” the actor says. Dom-Letty, of course, refers to his and Michelle Rodriguez’ characters from the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Guess What's Missing From Man of Steel?

Director Zack Snyder talks up his upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, dropping a mini-bombshell on a key piece of the superhero’s mythology that’s been excluded from the movie.

“I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Kryptonite in the movie,” Snyder said. Man of Steel hopes to humanize Superman, but by giving him new flaws and vulnerabilities. Superman actor Henry Cavill said, “Although he is not susceptible to the frailties of mankind, he is definitely susceptible to the emotional frailties.”

Interestingly, EW also saw footage from the film and reveals that in the movie little Kal-El is special even on his doomed home planet of Krypton, where his birth is said to cause alarm among some citizens.

Nolan on Kubrick as an Influence

Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan usually plays his cards pretty close to his chest. But in a new article about Stanley Kubrick, the helmer has let loose with how the legendary filmmaker has influenced his own work, including his upcoming sci-fi picture Interstellar.

“From a storytelling point of view, from a directing point of view, there is one thing I associate with what

does, which is calm,” Nolan tells EW. “There is such an inherent calm and inherent trust of the one powerful image, that he makes me embarrassed with my own work, in terms of how many different shots, how many different sound effects, how many different things we’ll throw at an audience to make an impression. But with Kubrick, there is such a great trust of the one correct image to calmly explain something to the audience. There can be some slowness to the editing. There’s nothing frenetic about it. It’s very simple. There’s a trust in simple storytelling and simple image making that actually takes massive confidence to try and emulate.”

‘Pineapple Express 2′ Trailer Is J/K April Fools’ Day, ‘This Is The End’ Viral Marketing Instead (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

To celebrate April Fools’ Day and simultaneously viral market the new film “This Is The End,” Seth Rogen, James Franco and Danny McBride have put together a trailer for “Pineapple Express 2.” This time, they must assassinate Woody Harrelson (played by Jonah Hill, because obviously). Thug life, indeed.

“This Is The End” is Rogen’s apocalypse comedy where the actor cast his famous friends as variations on themselves (Franco, Hill and McBride are joined by Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel and a cast of dozens). The comedy was co-written by Rogen and Evan Goldberg (“Superbad”) and co-directed by the pair as well.

“We thought it’d be funny to see really famous people die in super graphic ways,” Rogen said at WonderCon this weekend (via EW.com). “People were into it. At first we thought they’d be insulted or something like that — and some of them were — but most of them weren’t. They were into it.”

Emmerich Details Independence Day Sequels

It’s been awhile since we’d heard anything on Roland Emmerich‘s two Independence Day sequels, tentatively titled ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two. In a recent interview, Emmerich was able to reveal a few story details filling us in on what’s in store for our humble little planet.

According to EW.com, ID Forever picks up 20 years after the first film, when a distress call sent from the first wave of aliens brings reinforcements back to Earth. “The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back,” the director explained. “And they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years.”

Why Will Smith Turned Down Django Unchained

When Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained was first announced, many thought that Will Smith was a shoe-in for the title role. However, Smith has revealed in a recent interview that he turned down the part because it wasn’t big enough.

“Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!” Smith told EW.com, referring to Christoph Waltz’s Dr. King Schultz. But before he left the project, Smith said he implored Tarantino to give Django a more central role in the film. “I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!'”

‘Scandal’: On Opposite Sides Of A Case, Fitz And Olivia Share A Miserable Phone Conversation (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Olivia and Fitz couldn’t have been further apart as “Scandal” returned to ABC. In fact, they were on opposite sides of the case this week. Fitz had nominated a man for the Supreme Court only to have a mistress scandal erupt. When the woman came to Olivia, she found herself standing opposite her one-time man to defend his nominee’s “other woman.”

They did share a conversation on the phone, but it proved to be a “heartbreakingly emotional” moment, according to EW. At this point, it hurts too much for them to spend even a moment together, and yet they can’t stop reaching out. It was Fitz who picked up the phone this time.

“I was calling, because apparently I haven’t kicked myself enough today and I needed a little more misery,” he told her. “You ruined me. I’m ruined.”

Elbit Wins $115 Million Electronic Warfare Contract

By Dan Carroll, The Motley Fool

Filed under:

Israeli defense company Elbit Systems subsidiary Elisra has won a $115 million contract from an unspecified Asian customer for the manufacture and delivery of multipurpose electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The award, which Elbit announced on Sunday, will be carried out over two years.

Elisra General Manager Edgar Maimon was quoted in the company press release as saying, “This award further attests to our position and recognition as a world leading supplier of EW systems. We are experiencing a growing global demand for various types of EW systems, and I trust that further customers will follow and select our advanced systems as their preferred solution.”

The latest victory for Elbit comes following its full-year earnings release last week in which the company announced increased year-over-year revenue. Earlier in March, the company picked up orders for its Hermes 900 UAV as well as for logistics equipment.

G.I. Joe 2's Adrianne Palicki Talks Lady Jaye

Adrianna Palicki will soon burst onto the silver screen as Lady Jaye in the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation, teaming alongside Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis in the film.

In a recent interview with EW, Palicki explained her physical preparation for the role, which included a SEAL-approved workout regimen. “Harry Humphries is a retired SEAL, so… he brought his whole SEAL team to train us, and they’re actually in the movie with us, guiding us, which was the most nerve-racking part because if you mess up, you know they’re going to be pulling you aside and scaring you.

“Thankfully I love the character and she’s very well-written,” Palicki continued. “She’s a tough girl. She’s got a little bit of a chip on her shoulder. She’s like the only chick around all these guys so she kind of has to hold her own. She’s the intelligence in the group; she’s the weapon specialist. So there’s a lot to carry with that.”

‘The Walking Dead’: Andrea’s Choice, Promise Of Crazy Ahead

By The Huffington Post News Editors

If you thought “I Ain’t a Judas,” the Sunday, Feb. 24 episode of “The Walking Dead” was as slow as a one-legged walker, fear not: Things are about to get crazy.

“It was a little bit of moving the chess pieces around the board, getting ready to get crazy,” executive producer and comic book co-creator Robert Kirkman told EW. “Things are going to get crazy pretty soon. There’s some big stuff coming.”

The episode saw Andrea (Laurie Holden) reunite with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and her former traveling companions for the first time in nearly a year. It was all in the name of peace. Andrea returned to Woodbury, but before she left the prison, Carol urged her to end everything and kill the Governor.
