‘Orphan Black’ Season 2: Producers Spill On What’s Next For Tatiana Maslany And Friends

It’s not often that a recent Supreme Court ruling comes up during a discussion of a cult TV show, let alone at a Comic-Con panel that, for the most part, feels like a raucous rock concert.

But such is the short, weird, extraordinary life of BBC America’s “Orphan Black,” one of the most well-received dramas in recent memory. In a few short months, it’s gone from obscure newcomer to buzzworthy pop-culture favorite, with critics, high-profile fans and a loyal audience keeping the show in the public eye long after its June 1 season finale.

'Orphan Black' 1.03 Review: Learning the Rules of Clone Club

It’s surprising how good BBC Worldwide’s new show Orphan Black is, especially when you consider the premise: Sarah (Tatiana Maslany), a tough woman with a troubled past, meets her clone, Beth, just as Beth is committing suicide. Sarah assumes Beth’s life in order to raid her bank account, then learns that there are other clones—fewer now that they’re being killed off. And it seems that Beth was a cop with a past of her own. Why did Beth commit suicide? How will Sarah escape with Beth’s money? Who’s killing the clones? What does “Orphan Black” mean, anyway? Orphan Black is a puzzle box of a show, one that the audience and the main character are trying to open.
