What Was Saints Row IV's Original, Insane Ending?

A slew of Saints Row IV talent, including creative director Steve Jaros and actor Troy Baker held a panel at Comic-Con and doled out some neat tidbits regarding the game. Perhaps most interestingly, the original ending to Saints IV was meant to unfold as an extended Bollywood musical sequence. Yep, that was almost a thing.

The team at Volition loved this idea, and went as far as to looking into a choreographer and seeking out the perfect song. Sadly, they realized that this would take too much time in order to meet the August 20 release date, so the ambitious finale was eventually scrapped.

Another fantastically insane detail that trickled out during the panel was that SRIV’s first piece of DLC is set to hit 45 days after the game launches. Enter the Dominatrix, which was originally slated to be an expansion for Saints Row: The Third, will be presented a mockumentary of content that had to be cut from the game. Ambitious, indeed.

Saints Row 4 Had President Colbert, Dragons

In the original version of Saints Row IV, you did not play as the President of the United States.

“We wanted Stephen Colbert to be the President,” Volition creative director Steve Jaros tells IGN. “I have concept art that’s amazing. It’s Stephen Colbert on a battlefield holding the American flag, his sleeves are ripped off, he’s got a bald eagle tattoo. That’s Steven Jr.” he says. “It was badass,but finally it was like, f**k it, you’re the President. Why give it to someone else?”

Numerous things changed between the initial Saints Row IV concept and what we have now. Stephen Colbert as the President of the United States of America is the least crazy of the lot.
