Oscar winner Jamie Foxx may be poised to make his big screen comic book movie debut as Electro in next year’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but there is one other comic book role he desperately wants to play.
During an interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Foxx told Movies.com about his as yet unrealized dream movies: “Spawn is one, yeah. And Mike Tyson. Those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them.”

Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon suggests that Clark Gregg’s beloved character Agent Phil Coulson probably won’t be in the sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In an interview with WPRI at San Diego Comic-Con, Whedon was asked if Coulson will return for Avengers 2: “He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in Avengers 2. Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing.”
Fear not, though, fanboys. Coulson’s back from the dead (if he even was to begin with) as the star of the upcoming TV series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Industry gossip today stirred up fans eagerly awaiting director J.J Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.
Badass Digest‘s Devin Faraci claims that while at this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, he kept “hearing tons of rumors that JJ Abrams is on the verge of dropping out of Star Wars”.

Samuel L. Jackson has been talking about his desire to make a sequel to animated superhero movie The Incredibles, revealing that he has asked the moviemakers at Pixar the question many times.
Jackson was appearing at San Diego Comic-Con to promote his forthcoming Robocop remake, and was asked what he think makes a good movie franchise.
“The biggest challenges for franchises is keeping them fresh and exciting” he explained. “Most times you need a good bad guy to make that thing continually work. Sometimes they don’t. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been in some really good franchise films. Star Wars, and now the Marvel series. But you have to have fresh characters coming into the familiar that make audiences want to see them and relate to them.”

The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon said Sunday at San Diego Comic-Con that superhero-scientist Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man/Giant Man) won’t be in his sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron.
And since Pym won’t be in the film, Whedon revealed that Ultron — the villainous robot created by Pym in the comics — will have a different origin story in the big screen version. (Fans are already speculating that Tony Stark will now be Ultron’s creator instead.)

Wired has deservedly earned major bragging rights after they brought a 400-pound robot named “WIRED Mech” to San Diego Comic-Con. The Robot was built in 24 days and has been a major hit at the con.
The Stan Winston School, part of the team responsible for bringing the creation to life, uploaded the above heartwarming video to their Youtube channel on Thursday. It features an adorable cape-clad hero named Zooey meeting WIRED Mech. The robot promises to protect the little girl if she is in need of a bodyguard, but judging by how fearlessly Zooey runs up to the giant metal creature in the first place, we don’t think this little one will ever be a damsel in distress.

Director Matt Reeves began the Fox panel at San Diego Comic-Con today to talk about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to 2011’s Rise of, and he was joined by cast members Jason Clarke, Andy Serkis, and Keri Russell.
The sizzle reel shown was short, as the film is still shooting and the process to create the finished apes effects takes 10 to 12 weeks per shot, but what was shown was a tantalizing glimpse of humanity’s quick slide into self-destruction following the events of the last film. Times are tough for what’s left of mankind after the Simian Flu. We hear how the humans spent four years fighting the virus, and another four years fighting each other. There are gunshots. Clarke is in the forest, desperately calling out “I need to talk to Caesar!” And then we cut to a close-up of an ape’s eyes. As the camera slowly pulls back we see that it’s Caesar, a bit older from when we last saw him, with white war paint on his face and a red stripe down his brow. And behind him, other apes, all with weapons… waiting to attack. Cut to the title: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

At the start of this afternoon’s Fox panel at San Diego Comic-Con, The Wolverine director James Mangold started things off with a bit of a dig at that other solo Wolverine movie — “It ended up with a lot of other mutants in it as well,” he joked.
Well, the funny thing is, this panel also ended up with a lot of other mutants! As in, practically the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, and Omar Sy. Director Bryan Singer and producers Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Hutch Parker were also in attendance.

The Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con ended with writer-director Joss Whedon taking the stage at Hall H to announce the official title of Marvel’s The Avengers 2, which is … Avengers: Age of Ultron!
You may know that “Age of Ultron” is a relatively recent Marvel Comics storyline so it’ll be interesting to see how much they cull from that for the big screen sequel to the 2012 blockbuster.

Marvel Studios took fans to Asgard on Saturday with their presentation of footage from Thor: The Dark World at San Diego Comic-Con. Be advised of SPOILERS from the footage that was shown!
The cavernous Hall H was packed with Marvel fans for the studio’s movie presentation, which also included a sneak peek at Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the studio’s Phase 3 slate. No cast members were there … but a certain character was: Loki!
Yes, Tom Hiddleston made a surprise, in-character appearance as the god of mischief who demanded the crowd show him glory if they wanted to see what was in store for the Marvel panel. Hiddleston was clearly enjoying himself, cracking himself up at a few points.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con today, Telltale provided the first details about The Walking Dead: The Game’s second season.
According to the panel, Clementine “will definitely be a part of” the upcoming season, and the fate of Kenny “will be explored.” A teaser image shown during the panel showed what appeared to be Clementine sitting in the rain next to a child.
Little else is known about season two, and there’s still no details on whether this means these characters will be playable or if they’ll simply be making cameo appearances.

A question was asked today at Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and it was a perhaps predictable one considering the franchise’s core fanbase: “How intense will the kissing scenes be?”
Thankfully this led to stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson recalling shooting a scene that involved her snot connecting to his mouth. “It’s going to be really hot,” they laughed.
This was the first time Hunger Games has ever done the huge Hall H at the con, and it was a fun one, owing largely to Lawrence and her charm. She caused much swooning in the aisles of the hall.
The panel also included director Francis Lawrence, Willow Shields (Primrose), Lenny Kravitz (Cinna), Jena Malone (Johanna), Jeffrey Wright (Beetee), Liam Hemsworth (Gale), and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta).

Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski joined writer-director Stuart Beattie and creator Kevin Grevioux at San Diego Comic-Con’s huge Hall H today to debut footage from Lionsgate’s I, Frankenstein.
Beattie kicked things off by explaining that this Frankenstein is like none we’ve ever seen before, an ageless creature who is caught up in a war between gargoyles and demons in a modern day dystopia — with the two sides fighting to discover the secret behind his immortality.
The trailer shown to the crowd begins with Eckhart’s Frankenstein saying, “I am not human. I am unlike none other.” From there, a torrent of gothic, action-heavy imagery followed, with gargoyles — stone gargoyles — and winged men (demons?) flying, battling, and attacking. Frankenstein gets down to some stick-fighting, and also has a pair of big old blades that he uses. We also get glimpses of his past, seemingly when he was first created and, perhaps, discarded by his creator, and these are juxtaposed with modern images of a high-tech lab. It all culminates with an onscreen promise: The Legend Lives 2015.
