Where Will Superman vs. Batman Film?

Man of Steel was shot largely in Vancouver, but that’s not where its sequel — possibly titled Batman vs. Superman or Superman vs. Batman — will be filmed.

VanCityBuzz reports that the Warner Bros. sequel will lens in Toronto instead because their tax incentives for the film industry are better than those offered by British Columbia.

Henry Cavill is set to reprise his role as Superman. Also returning are director Zack Snyder, writer David S. Goyer, and cast members Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne. The role of Batman has yet to be cast. The sequel is slated for a 2015 release.

The Very Best of Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con came and went with a whole bunch of madness in between. If you followed IGN’s coverage last weekend, you might have noticed that there were quite a few notable pieces of news that came out of the event.

You can still see all of it over at our Comic-Con index, but we thought it’d be fun to break down the best of the best across movies, TV, and comics.

The surprise of the con, Warner Bros.’ reveal that the sequel to Man of Steel will actually be a Batman/Superman movie shook Hall H like Krypton in its final hours. We know almost nothing about the film aside from the fact that director Zack Snyder and scripter David Goyer will be back, and that it is scheduled for 2015. Oh, and that it’s going to probably be called Batman Vs. Superman. Yes, the Dark Knight returns…

CinemaCon: Man of Steel, Hobbit, PacRim

Warner Bros. touted their summer 2013 slate at Tuesday’s CinemaCon, while also giving theater execs and the press a look at what lies beyond the blockbuster season.

Zack Snyder presented the new trailer for Man of Steel, which you can drop your jaw watching below, and Todd Phillips presented the trailer for The Hangover Part III.

Guillermo del Toro appeared to present the same convention-only trailer for his sci-fi epic Pacific Rim that he recently showed to fans at WonderCon. They also screened trailers for the upcoming comedy We’re the Millers (starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis), horror film The Conjuring (starring Vera Farmiga and directed by Saw’s James Wan), and thriller Getaway (with Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez).

First Man of Steel TV Spot has Landed

Warner Bros. has released the first TV spot for Man of Steel, which you can check out below:

The spot is basically an edit of the most recent trailer, reaffirming Zack Snyder‘s weighty take on the Superman story. Expect more from WB in the weeks leading up to Man of Steel’s release.

Man of Steel opens June 14 in the US & UK, and June 27 in AU.

First 300: Rise of an Empire Images

The first images from 300: Rise of an Empire, along with some details about the film from director Noam Murro, have become available via USA Today.

Adapted from Frank Miller’s graphic novel “Xerxes,” the film takes place in a parallel time period to Zack Snyder’s epic blockbuster 300. This time the battle will occur at sea. The Greek general Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) fights to unite Greece and battles an invading army of Persians lead by the mortal-turned-god, Xerxes (Roderigo Santoro) and Artemesia (Eva Green), the vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

J.J. Abrams Talks Superman Flyby

J.J. Abrams has been discussing aborted take on Superman, explaining perceived parallels between what he had planned and what Zack Snyder is doing in Man of Steel.

Speaking to Empire about his treatment for Superman Flyby, the Star Trek director described his take on the character’s origins.

“The thing that I tried to emphasise in the story was that if the Kents found this boy, Kal-El, who had the power that he did, he would have most likely killed them both in short order” he explained. “And the idea that these parents would see – if they were lucky to survive long enough – that they had to immediately begin teaching this kid to limit himself and to not be so fast, not be so strong, not be so powerful.

Report: Bale to Return as Batman in Justice League?

Christian Bale is in talks to reprise his role as Batman in DC’s upcoming Justice League movie, Christopher Nolan will oversee the project, and Man of Steel-helmer Zack Snyder will produce – and possibly direct – if a new report from Latino Review is to be believed.

The website claims that Nolan is now in charge of the entire DCU at Warner Bros., and is in discussions to act as a sort of Godfather to the project, as well as produce alongside Zack Snyder. The studio allegedly wants the film to be set in the same universe as Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, which naturally means a return of Bale’s Batman. Not only that, but Justice League would also tie in with Snyder’s gritty Man of Steel, which means – you guessed it – Bale’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman would appear in the same universe, in the same movie, at the same time.

Russell Crowe: Man of Steel Is Supersonic

Russell Crowe will soon make his debut as Jor-El, Superman’s biological father, in Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel. And in a new interview, the actor spoke about Warner Bros.’ latest approach to the franchise and Snyder’s vision for the title character. Here’s what he had to say:

“It’s very complicated, it’s really complex,” he said. “I don’t think anybody has really tried to get into the psychology of what it must be like to be Superman and what people would really respond like in a modern society if somebody like that just popped up. I think Zack Snyder was given a great deal of responsibilty because when it comes to comic book heroes and superhero films the top of the food chain is Superman. I think the biggest indicator for me of how it’s looking is that the financier of the film has sent me gushing emails, he just loves it.

A Closer Look at Man of Steel's Costume

Yesterday, DC Comics revealed its product solicitations for April 2013, and among the lineup was this new 1:6 scale Man of Steel statue, which offers a closer look at Henry Cavill’s Superman in the upcoming film from Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder.

Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, this statue measures 13.25″ high x 8.5″ wide x 5.75″ deep. The piece will retail for $129.95 US and goes on sale May, 2013. (Also stay tuned for more Man of Steel statues, depicting Jor-El, Zod and Faora.) See the image below:

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder is developing a Star Wars film that will take place outside of the planned new trilogy of movies.

Vulture reports that the helmer, who has also made 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, is “developing a Star Wars project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series’ galaxy, though parallel to the next trilogy. It will be an as-yet-untitled Jedi epic loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, with the ronin and katana being replaced by the Force-wielding knights and their iconic lightsabers.”
