Joe Miller Of Alaska Considers 2014 Senate Run

By Breaking News

Joe Miller SC Joe Miller of Alaska considers 2014 Senate run

Serious times call for bold measures, Joe Miller said yesterday in a press release: “With the re-election of Barack Obama, our very way of self-government is in peril. The Constitution is under attack, the value of human life degraded, religious liberties are threatened, the Second Amendment is increasingly in jeopardy, and the right to protection from unlawful search and seizure is giving way to a virtual surveillance State.”

Not long ago, Miller just barely missed the turn to the Senate when Lisa Murkowski asked for a recount, telling the judge that those who spelled her name wrong on the ballot should be included in the count. She won the recount, and the Miller/Murkowski contention perfectly reflected the division rising in the Republican Party between establishment conservatives and new Tea Party candidates. Miller was a Tea Party champion and had the support of Alaska’s former Gov. Sarah Palin.

Murkowski, who represents Alaska today, is the poster child of the political group “No Labels,” which claims to be a “growing citizens’ movement of Democrats, Republicans and everything in between …”

No Labels is high-fiving Sens. Mark Udall (D-CO) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) for their role in sparking a bipartisan seating movement among members of Congress in advance of the State of the Union address,” their web site reads, featuring photos of Murkowski and Udall.

“In 2010, I was one of the first candidates to warn of a looming debt crisis and predict the coming downgrade of America’s credit rating,” Miller said. “My campaign championed the prerogatives of State governments under the 10th Amendment, and pointed out the massive threat to our individual liberties coming out of Washington. In October of 2010, I predicted that regardless of who represented Alaska in DC, ‘the era of earmarks is dead.’ And we were ahead of the curve on entitlement reform.”

The Tea Party Comeback

By Breaking News

Thousands of Tea Party activists will gather Monday at rallies across the nation to mark Tax Day, April 15–and to re-ignite a movement that had been written off as dormant by the media and the political classes.

After propelling the Republican Party to the majority in the House of Representatives in 2010–and likely for the next decade thereafter–the Tea Party seemed to retreat. It failed in its political aim of defeating President Barack Obama in 2012, largely because of its earlier failure to find an alternative nominee to Gov. Mitt Romney. It was tarnished unfairly as racist, extremist, and–especially after the Tuscon shooting of Jan. 2011–violent, and was blamed even by some Republicans for the debt ceiling impasse in mid-2011.

Yet the Tea Party also succeeded in stopping the rapid growth of federal spending and taxation. The Tea Party ensured that there would be no bailouts for profligate states and no large-scale tax increases. Though it had to swallow the tax increases of the “fiscal cliff” deal in the early hours of 2013, it essentially preserved 98% of the Bush-era tax cuts. And by shifting the national debate in favor of deficit reduction, the Tea Party laid the foundation for the budget sequester–a set of across-the-board spending cuts that the American public has largely tolerated, even in the face of President Obama’s attempts to create panic and outrage.

Gadsden flag, called Tea Party symbol, removed from New York military armory

A group of New York veterans is preparing to march into court after a town ordered the Gadsden flag removed from a military armory.

The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., has removed the Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag from the New Rochelle Armory after the city council refused to let a veterans organization display the flag, World Net Daily reported.

The United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association of New Rochelle is fighting the decision, ordered by City Manager Chuck Strome after complaints that the flag is a symbol of the Tea Party movement, according to World Net Daily.

But Strome did an about-face after Peter Parente, president of United Veterans Memorial, sent Strome the history of the Gadsden flag, which is flown beneath the U.S. flag on many military sites, according to World Net Daily.

Then the New Rochelle City Council overruled Strome, voting 5-2 to have the flag removed.

According to the Washington Examiner, the council objected to the flag because they said Parente is a member of the Tea Party and wants to display the flag to push a political agenda.

Parente said no one in the veterans group is a Tea Party member. “I’m a proud Republican,” he told the council, according to the Examiner.

Now, the veterans have found an ally in the Thomas More Law Center and are ready to go to court.

“Their outrageous decision to confiscate a cherished symbol of our War for Independence smacks of pure partisan politics,” Richard Thompson, chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, told World Net Daily.

“Many Americans fought and died for our independence under that flag, and the law center will take available means to return the Gadsden flag back on the veterans’ flag pole. As one Revolutionary War hero said, we ‘have just begun to fight,'” he added.

According to the U.S. Navy website, beginning Sept. 11, 2002, all U.S. Navy ships have flown the First Navy Jack flag. The flag, first used by the Continental Navy in 1775, consists of a rattlesnake superimposed across 13 alternating red and white stripes with the motto, “Don’t Tread On Me.”

According to the site, Commodore Esek Hopkins used the First Navy Jack as a signal to engage the British in the American Revolution. The Jack in today’s fleet represents a historic reminder of the nation’s origin.

Town Bars Veterans Group From Flying Gadsen Flag

By B. Christopher Agee

Dont Tread on Me1 Town bars veterans group from flying Gadsen flag

The Gadsen flag, its yellow background highlighting the uniquely American phrase “Don’t Tread on Me,” is under a direct attack by the city council in one New York community.

Effectively displayed by many in the Tea Party movement, who use its message as a rallying cry, New Rochelle council members recently voted to ban a local veterans organization from displaying the flag.

Reports indicate that the city manager initially wanted to let the group fly the flag after one council member expressed his displeasure with the display. Ultimately, in a 5 to 2 vote, the council decided to force its removal anyway.

Responding to allegations he wants to use the flag to support his own involvement with the Tea Party, the group’s president stated that no one in the organization is a Tea Party member, though he described himself as a “proud Republican.”

Not satisfied with merely stripping a group’s freedom to display a flag at an armory, council members reportedly hurled insults comparing the flag to graffiti and even the Nazi flag.

The fallacy of thought expressed by this city’s leaders is not lost on Thomas More Law Center president Richard Thompson.

His firm has been retained to present the veterans group’s case, and he expertly skewered the illogical decision.

“Using the city council’s reasoning, they would remove the Stars and Stripes from flagpoles because both Democrat and Republican parties, as well as most political candidates, use the Stars and Stripes in their campaign messaging,” he said.

This outrageous decision is indicative of a much larger problem that has long stymied those on the right.

Any paraphernalia connected to a conservative individual or group is so roundly and rapidly demonized by the knee-jerk liberal crowd; the mere invocation of an otherwise worthy phrase is seen as somehow hateful and unacceptable.

Conservatives, by nature and necessity, are notoriously independent, which means the left has a stark advantage in initiating such attacks.

So-called progressives describe themselves as tolerant, though they have expertly bastardized the word to mean something altogether different.

In reality, conservatives tolerate – if not endorse – opposing ideas and behavior far more than leftists. Vindictive rulings such as the one made in this case prove how intolerant the lunatic left can be.

Rand Paul Faces Skeptical Howard University Audience

By The Huffington Post News Editors

WASHINGTON — Maya Cade, a Howard University freshman with a sunny disposition, was walking down 4th Street on the eastern side of campus Tuesday afternoon, texting with a friend about an unusual speech scheduled for the next day.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will on Wednesday become the first elected Republican office holder to speak on Howard’s campus in years. Cade, a political science major, ran into a friend on the sidewalk while talking to a Huffington Post reporter about Paul, a Tea Party-affiliated conservative.

“He’s coming today isn’t he?” asked her friend, who gave her name as Brittany.

Wise Up, Mr. O’Reilly

By Rev Michael Bresciani

On Tuesday evening, Laura Ingraham was seen slouching back in her chair in an exhausted pose in response to Bill O’Reilly’s defense of the term ‘bible thumper.’ Ingraham, a regular substitute host anchor for O’Reilly, couldn’t get a word in edgewise; and when she did, it was only to state once again that the term may have offended or berated people who trust the bible.

Mr. O’Reilly is not helping the ratings, and he is not the first to knock some of the audiences off the grid. A recent announcement by Fox News’ president Roger Ailes to move Fox away from the right and back to center was the first hit to the ratings, and some sources have noted a 22 percent decline in audiences.

The second dark cloud forming in the wings is the Tea Party’s call to boycott Fox because they refuse to discuss serious matters like the Benghazi scandal and the findings of Sheriff Arpaio’s cold case posse on the fraudulent documents of President Obama. Lots of evidence and questions have been raised by the Sheriff, but not a peep has been heard by Fox and friends.

When Bill decided to call Christians who read their bibles and stand by them ‘thumpers,’ he crossed a line that even Ailes may not fully understand.

Get a proper definition, O’Reilly.

A Harvard education and a Catholic background may have insulated Mr. O’Reilly from hearing the term; but in protestant circles, it is a familiar term and not very appreciated. But we have only to check a few sources to see what the term means.

“Originating from typically southern US fundamentalist Christian sects given to evangelizing in a very outgoing, rambunctious way, often characterized by a religious bigot standing on a street corner, with or without foam around his mouth, shouting about how we should all turn to Christ, whilst vigorously thumping his soft covered bible for emphasis.” Urban Dictionary

“(U.S.) someone perceived as aggressively imposing their Christian beliefs upon others. The term derives from preachers thumping their hands down on the Bible to emphasize a point during a sermon. The term’s target domain is broad and can often extend to anyone engaged in a public show of religion, fundamentalist or not. The term is most commonly used in English-speaking countries” Wikipedia

“an overzealous advocate of Christian fundamentalism” Merriam-Webster

“Bible thumper is a slur used against particularly vocal Christians who constantly quote the Bible when discussing non-Biblical topics (often about science, but also about homophobia, porn, etc.). The term comes from old-timey circuit preachers who would emphatically thump a bible held aloft while making their points.” Rational Wiki

In today’s world, we don’t need a plane trip back to the ivy-covered halls of Harvard for a visit to her splendid libraries, but just a few clicks on Google to see if we are misusing a word or a common phrase. The word of the day, Mr. O’Reilly, is ‘Bible Thumper’; go look it up.

At least be true to your own religion, Bill!

Roger Ebert’s Politics: What The Legendary Film Critic Had To Say About The Issues

“I’m a liberal,” he told the Los Angeles Times, and he didn’t hide it.

After cancer surgery claimed much of his jaw in 2006, Ebert lost the ability to eat, drink or speak with his natural voice. Fortunately, he never lost the power to type.

Todd Akin, Allen West Lavished Government Money On Staff After Losing Reelection

By The Huffington Post News Editors

WASHINGTON — After Todd Akin lost the Missouri Senate race to Democrat Claire McCaskill in November, he had one final piece of business to take care of as an outgoing member of the House of Representatives — giving piles of government money to his staff. Akin nearly doubled the salaries of his House staffers in the quarter after his defeat, according to the website LegiStorm, which tracks congressional pay.

Only retiring Democrat Gary Ackerman of New York was more generous with public money, barely topping Akin’s 98 percent increase in pay, the website shows. Allen West, a Tea Party favorite from South Florida, was the fourth biggest giver of taxpayer bonuses after he lost reelection to Rep. Patrick Murphy (D-Fla.). Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) was the third most generous, according to LegiStorm.

West and Akin routinely decried wasteful and out-of-control government spending, calling for major cuts to social programs.

Obamacare: Hatched By Mostly ‘Tea Party Activists’

By Sally Zelikovsky

Tea Party SZ Obamacare: Hatched by mostly ‘Tea Party Activists’

Once again, the Tea Party has become the favorite “whipping boy” of the left — this time with the ridiculously laughable and delusional assertion by Douglas Zeigler in the Roofers and Waterproofers Local 81 newsletter from Oakland, California, that Obamacare was “hatched in congress by mostly ‘Tea Party activists’ along with their insurance company lobbyists.”

Just when you thought you’d heard it all. Blame it on us!

In Mr. Zeigler’s alternate reality, Obamacare is somehow the fault of the Tea Party.

Zeigler does acknowledge that the Affordable Health Care Act is anything but “affordable,” lamenting rising health insurance costs to the detriment of those it was supposed to help.

One wonders, though, where this man and others who think like him have been for the last 3-4 years? Living under a rock completely unexposed to the Obamacare banter?

I find that hard to believe. Even “low information voters” understand that the Pelosi-Reid-Obama troika was 100% responsible for Obamacare.

On March 9, 2010, then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi said of the Affordable Care Act:

“We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy.”

That infamous quote along with all the political jockying in 2010 went viral. Mr. Zeigler must have had his head in the sand during Obama’s first two years in office not to notice.

He might find it enlightening to know that 219 Democrats voted “Yes” for Obamacare whereas ZERO Republicans (null, zip, nada, zilch) voted “Yes.” Ouch!

In fact, all Republicans—including the handful who, at that time, associated with the Tea Party movement—voted AGAINST Obamacare along with 34 Democrats.

It strains credulity to believe anyone could be that oblivious but then again — in man-on-the-street interviews, people actually thought that Sarah Palin was Obama’s running mate.

No, I don’t imagine he was unexposed or even ignorant of the process. It’s more likely that he was just another “useful idiot” blindly trusting his union leaders, dutifully attending rallies and town halls with his union’s imprimatur and fully equipped with pre-made, pro-Obamacare signs supplied by his union.

He was probably misled into believing that his people would be taken care of if there were any messy glitches with Obamacare.

Remember all of the waivers granted to big unions and companies that supported Obama?

Now that “working families” and the middle class are feeling the pinch, they have to blame someone and they cannot point fingers at the very man they re-elected. That might suggest that they were, um, wrong.

So, they might as well do what they always do when backed into a political corner and change the narrative. This time, in addition to casting tea partiers as racist, sexist, homophobic, radicals, they have planted the seed that we are “birthers”—having given
“birth” to Obamacare.

But here’s the truth:  The Tea Party movement was a direct, grassroots response to the mammoth, out-of-control spending of the Obama Administration and the 111th Democrat –controlled congress in the months after they first took power. The Tea Party coalesced around Obamacare in the summer and fall of 2009 trying to prevent it, read it, defeat it, …read more

Rubio Threatening Filibuster On Gun Control

By Breaking News

Marco Rubio SC2 Rubio Threatening Filibuster on Gun Control

Marco Rubio pledged Thursday to join a group of Republicans led by Sens. Rand Paul (KY), Mike Lee (UT), and Ted Cruz (TX), also Tea Party stalwarts, threatening to filibuster gun control legislation that comes to the floor of the Senate.

Rubio posted the following statement on his website:

We, the undersigned, intend to oppose any legislation that would infringe on the American people’s constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance. The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens’ right to self-defense. It speaks to history’s lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history’s warning about the oppression of a government that tries.

Paul, Lee, and Cruz had written earlier this week to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), pledging to “oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions.” Reid has plans to bring a bill to the Senate that would increase background checks and penalties on straw purchases of firearms.

‘Wife Swap’: One Couple Refuses To Attend Post-Swap Roundtable Discussion (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

The culture clash was even more extreme on the latest episode of “Wife Swap.” Producers had to know there was going to be the potential for serious ramifications by swapping a proud Christian Republican family with a polyamorous one. Gina Louden found it too much when she swapped into the Envy family — a husband, wife and girlfriend.

Gina, a Tea Party activist and political pundit, couldn’t even make it through the week, abandoning the show to check into a hotel. Then, against the rules of the show, she contacted her husband, John.

“Hey, honey. We’re definitely dealing with dark forces here,” John told her. He’d been preaching against the Envy lifestyle to Angela, the wife he inherited for the show, to the point he was traumatizing her. Gina, on the other hand, had been trying to convince Chris to step up and not expect the women to wait on him hand and foot. She felt that the girlfriend was an innocent victim in the relationship.

Social Conservatives Need To Change Their Strategy

By Greg Baugher

Marriage SC Social conservatives need to change their strategy

To people on the right, let’s face it. The issue of gay marriage is not going to go away. The left has been pushing this issue since Reagan’s day, and they are not going to let up. Liberals who constitute the vast majority of leadership positions in academic institutions, Hollywood, and the mainstream media are focused on helping LBST activists portray all those who hold traditional social viewpoints as bigots, just for disagreeing with them. Conservatives have lost the moral high ground because for the most part, the Bible and traditional views of the older generation have lost credibility and relevance to many demographic groups. Liberals in leadership positions have convinced many of those in the middle of the political spectrum that to exclude gays and lesbians from marriage “rights” is just plain morally wrong. Politicians who attempt to uphold marriage as between a man and a woman in today’s ideological climate risk losing their reelections in many districts.

Marriage as an institution and social structure has been around since the beginning of human existence. Although in some cultures polygamy has been tolerated at times, marriage’s definition as between a man and woman has never been in dispute throughout these eons. Modern liberals who want to redefine it to sanction the lifestyles of homosexuals should consider all aspects of the subject, not just the wishes of the adults who feel marginalized by marriage laws. The effects on our societal structure and the children in our society should take precedence over all else. The definition of marriage matters.

But despite our own personal views on what constitutes a marriage, American democratic ideals and the society in which we live require that homosexuals be granted the same privileges and benefits as heterosexuals. The benefits of marriage are many, and many of these benefits are currently denied to homosexuals. Realistically, it is only a matter of time before liberal forces gain enough strength to overturn federal laws. Then the very ideal that marriage traditionalists have fought against, the complete redefinition of marriage to include homosexual couples, will become the law of the land. Along with this will be the demand that states recognize gay marriage in the same way that the federal government does. Another time of turmoil will ensue, such as in the days of the civil rights movement. I do not believe that the right can save marriage by just attempting to hold back the inevitable tide. In the end, marriage traditionalists will be silenced; and future generations will never see marriage in the same way.

Conservative groups from the Republican Party to the Tea Party to religious conservatives need a different strategy to fight this war. We need to remove marriage from the front line of the federal battle before it dies a tragic death. I suggest that we rewrite federal laws, as well as eventually state laws, so that the word “marriage” is removed from all legislation and replaced with “civil union.” Then, marriage can remain essentially a …read more

Dysfunctional Government: Distrust And Gridlock

By Allan Erickson

Congress Dysfunctional government: distrust And gridlock

Watching the round-table discussion on ABC Sunday mornings is instructive.  George Will always provides unique insight couched in history.  He made the essential point recently that the two political parties are so far apart that any compromise on financial issues appears unlikely. Along with Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin on the panel, Will’s input was routinely constructive, oriented to problem-solving, never going so low as to employ personal attack.

Others, like Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Paul Krugman, agreed with Will: there is a tremendous trust deficit responsible for gridlock.

Conservatives in Congress do not trust this President, and for good reason.  It is very difficult, if impossible, to work with someone who smiles reassuringly in private, then eviscerates in public.

I find it amusing people like Wasserman-Schultz and Krugman decry distrust and gridlock.  They call for restoring trust.  And in the very next breath, they attack conservatives as liars and obstructionists.  Apparently, they didn’t learn everything they need to know in kindergarten.

Wasserman-Schultz never missed a chance to demonize Republicans and the Tea Party, her central reason for existence it appears.  Krugman called Jeb Bush a liar and dolt and condemned anyone embracing Reaganomics.  Without missing a beat, both of these people also called for a new civility and real debate!  Beholding this display of dysfunction only served to buttress Will’s point: an intractable Left prefers demonization, which accounts largely for the gridlock. Promoting failure is successful for them, so why change?

However, it appears the Poser in the White House is beginning to employ a little of Reagan’s wisdom reaching out to the other side of the aisle, a “hopeful” sign say some Republicans.  It won’t work.  You cannot make a dove from a strutting peacock.

Recently, we have seen the Poser attack Republicans for sequestration cuts he created, close the White House to public visitation, and claim those cuts prevent the people access to The People’s House.  We have seen him play other games to make the ‘pain’ as severe as possible, such as suspending all college programs for military personnel and threatening massive layoffs, resulting in reduced security. Fear and demonization are and will remain the centerpiece of the Poser’s attitude.

But to appear like a real leader, the Poser then took Senators to dinner in a phony show of willing conciliation.  Have we forgotten this man has hammered conservatives most of his adult life, most intensely in the last four years?  In one night, we are supposed to forget years of double-dealing, underhanded maneuvers, accusations, and vicious denunciations?

To their credit, conservatives appear willing to attempt, once again, to work with this Alinsky organizer, whose motto is ‘isolate and ridicule.’  However, they should be reminded of Reagan’s advice when dealing with a lawless adversary: “trust, but verify.”  It might also be prudent to look into drone countermeasures.

Rand Paul Endorses Immigrant Path To Citizenship

By Breaking News

Rand Paul 4 SC Rand Paul endorses immigrant path to citizenship

WASHINGTON — Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Tuesday that illegal immigrants should be allowed to become U.S. taxpayers and ultimately get a shot at citizenship, a significant step for the Tea Party favorite amid growing Republican acceptance of the idea.

“Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport” the millions already here, the potential 2016 presidential candidate told the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into becoming and being taxpaying members of society.”

It was the latest sign that the Republican Party is moving to broaden its appeal to politically influential Latinos and other ethnic minorities after significant election losses last fall. Paul spoke a day after a Republican National Committee report called on the GOP to support comprehensive reform, though without specifying whether it should include a pathway to citizenship, which is decried by some conservatives as amnesty.

Meanwhile, a bipartisan group of senators is nearing agreement on sweeping legislation to overhaul the nation’s immigration policy, an effort that could get a boost from Paul’s stance.

The Kentucky Republican said for him to support such an approach, a stronger border must come first, and Congress must agree that border security has improved. The path to citizenship he envisions would come with other conditions, too, that would make it long and difficult for illegal immigrants to travel.

Video: Barack Obama’s Surveillance Society

By Kris Zane

After 9/11, Barack Obama and his leftist base were livid that George W. Bush under the Patriot Act was engaged in warrantless wiretapping of Americans’ phone calls and email. We all remember them foaming at the mouth, marching in the streets with their idiotic swastikas and photos of Bush as Hitler.

The Left, proclaiming Barack Obama lord and savior, are eerily quiet now that Obama has taken Bush’s Patriot Act to an unimaginable, Orwellian level.

Obama has embraced Total Information Awareness—TIA for short—which refers to the government’s ability to compile a massive, searchable database, comprised of every type of electronic communication and information imaginable. We’re not just talking about phone calls and emails anymore. Barry Obama has already been compiling literally billions of phone and email records since ascending the throne. Now he’s out for bigger fish.

In September, the National Security Agency will open a one million square foot mega-database facility, built by an army of ten thousand construction workers.  Located in Bluffdale, Utah—an area known more for polygamists than Orwellian databases—the Utah Data Center will store information in the yottabytes. A yottabyte—10 with 24 zeros after it—makes a terabyte look like small potatoes. It will take 200 megawatts—enough to power 200,000 homes—to feed this behemoth and will use an air conditioning system larger than what was used for the World Trade Centers—combined. So much for “Green” energy.

What kind of data is Big Brother Obama gathering?

Landline and cell phone traffic. Email. Texting. Facebook posts. Tweets. Skype. Discussion boards. Web pages. Travel records.  Banking records. Credit card transactions. Stock market trades. Google searches. If it travels through wires or the air, you can bank on it that Big Brother Obama is routing it to the Utah Data Center. Your smart phone’s GPS will even beam your exact location so Big Brother Barack Obama will know whether you’ve joined one of those “domestic terrorist” groups like the Tea Party.

This massive database will be available to the FBI, CIA, the Department of Defense, and of course the White House, gorging Obama’s gaggle of leftist czars with private information on every single American.

The Fourth Amendment, protecting us against unreasonable search and seizure? Barry Obama can’t be bothered with little things like the Constitution.

But snooping on Americans electronically isn’t enough for Obama. He’s ordered a fleet of  “public safety” drones, estimated to reach 30,000, that are able to make sure all the conservative “domestic terrorists” are behaving themselves. All outfitted with the ability to intercept virtually any wireless electronic communication. All able to determine whether Americans are armed or not. All with the ability to vaporize American citizens in the blink of an eye.

Want a look into the future for conservative Americans, who don’t want to be a part of Obama’s Orwellian database?
