‘Covert Affairs’: Blackmail Puts A New Person In Charge Of The Domestic Protection Division (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

There’s a new boss in town on “Covert Affairs.” After finding some incriminating photos of Senator Pierson during an investigation at Henry Wilcox’s apartment, Joan saw an opportunity. She used the evidence she’d gathered to basically blackmail her way into becoming the new chief.

“Can I just say that it’s such an honor to be working for the first woman to be DCS. I feel like I’m part of CIA history,” her secretary told her, bringing in a bottle of wine.

“And I suppose we are,” Joan agreed.

Amazon Web Services files complaint in court over CIA contract

Amazon Web Services has filed a complaint in a U.S. court after the Government Accountability Office sustained in part a protest by IBM against the award of a contract by the CIA for a cloud computing project.

IBM had challenged the evaluation of proposals and the selection decision in the award of the CIA contract for commercial cloud services to AWS in Seattle, Washington.

The bid protest complaint filed by AWS on Wednesday in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims is under seal as some of the information contained in it is under a protective order from the GAO.

“We believe strongly that the CIA got it right the first time. Providing true cloud computing services to the intelligence community requires a transformative approach with superior technology,” AWS said in an emailed statement.

Abandoning the region, America’s created chaos: Libya, Egypt, Syria, and a nuclear arms race | Jerusalem Post – Blogs

By Dave Robbins

American policy in the region has had a quality of improvisation during the past fifteen years. Attacking Afghanistan had justification as response to al-Quaeda’s attack of 9/11 and the Taliban government providing refuge for Osama bin Laden. But whatever success was achieved by American Special Forces and the CIA in that country failed to be […]

Harris Tweed was Cold War ‘uniform’ for CIA

By hnn

WHILE British secret agents of the 1970s were portrayed on TV in tight blue jeans, shirts with huge collars, ludicrous wide ties and brown cardigans – a la The Professionals – their real-life equivalents on the other side of the Atlantic opted for … Harris Tweed.

The American hero behind the Iran hostage rescue featured in the film Argo has revealed the fashion style of CIA agents during the Cold War as he was honoured for services to the famous Scots cloth.

Tony Mendez was played in the Best Picture of the Year Oscar-winner by Ben Affleck, whose Harris Tweed jacket is giving the fabric its highest-profile Hollywood exposure in years.

Former agent Mendez, speaking in New York, confirmed that the movie reflected reality and that Harris Tweed had been “part of what every agent wore” during his time in the service…..

Secret court OKs continued US phone surveillance

A secret intelligence court has decided to continue an order that forces Verizon Communications to turn over hundreds of millions of telephone records to the government each day in its search for foreign terror or espionage suspects.

The longstanding Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court order must be renewed every three months. It had been set to expire Friday.

National Intelligence Director James Clapper announced the new order.

The surveillance program has been under intense scrutiny since June, when former CIA employee and National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden leaked details of two top secret U.S. surveillance programs that critics say violate privacy rights.

Snowden has been charged with espionage and is seeking asylum from several countries, including Russia.

US: Wanted ex-CIA officer headed for US

A former CIA base chief convicted in the 2003 abduction of an Egyptian terror suspect is being sent to the United States instead of Italy, which wanted him to serve prison time for his role in the notorious anti-terrorism program known as extraordinary rendition, the U.S. State Department said Friday.

Robert Seldon Lady was detained in Panama this week after Italy and Interpol requested his arrest. After barely two days in detention, he was put on a plane to the U.S. by Panama, a close U.S. ally that offered no explanation for its decision.

“It’s my understanding that he is in fact either en route or back in the United States,” State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf told reporters in Washington. She declined to disclose other details about his case.

Italy’s deputy foreign minister, Lap Pistelli, said in a statement that Italy “acknowledges” Panama’s decision, adding nothing more about the case. Italy and Panama have no extradition treaty, Italian diplomats said, but Panama would have been free to send Lady to Italy if it wanted.

Lady had crossed the border into Costa Rica this week and was sent back to Panama where he was detained, according to an Italian official familiar with Italy’s investigation of the rendition of Cleric Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the case.

A Panamanian National Police official said Lady, 59, had been detained Wednesday on the Costa Rica-Panama border. The official also spoke on condition of anonymity due to lack of authorization to discuss the matter.

Nasr, also known as Abu Omar, was hustled into a car in February 2003 on a street in Milan, where he preached, and transferred to U.S. military bases in Italy and Germany before being flown to Egypt. He alleged he was tortured in Egypt before being released.

Italy conducted an aggressive investigation and charged 26 CIA and other U.S. government employees despite objections from Washington. All left Italy before charges were filed in the first trial in the world involving the CIA’s extraordinary rendition program, under which terror suspects were abducted and transferred to third countries where many were tortured.

All of the U.S. suspects were eventually convicted but only Lady received a sentence — nine years in prison — that merited an extradition request under Italian legal guidelines.

Ex-CIA agent convicted in Milan in kidnapping held in Panama

A former CIA base chief convicted in the 2003 abduction of a terror suspect from an Italian street has been detained in Panama after Italy requested his arrest in one of the most notorious episodes of the U.S. program known as extraordinary rendition, Italian and Panamanian officials said Thursday.

Robert Seldon Lady, the former CIA chief in Milan, entered Panama, crossed the border into Costa Rica and was sent back to Panama where he was detained, according to an Italian official familiar with Italy’s investigation of the rendition of Cleric Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr.

The government of Panama, which maintains one of the region’s closest relationships with the U.S., was officially silent on the case. Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino told The Associated Press that he was unaware of Lady’s detention and the press office of the National Police — which works with Interpol, the international police agency — said it had no information. The CIA also declined to comment.

All left Italy before charges were filed in the first trial in the world involving the CIA’s extraordinary rendition program, under which terror suspects were abducted and transferred to third countries where many were subjected to torture.

All the U.S. suspects were eventually convicted but only Lady received a sentence — nine years in prison — that merited an extradition request under Italian legal guidelines. Two former Italian spy chiefs were also convicted this year for their role in the cleric’s kidnapping.

The case caused tensions between Rome and Washington, two traditionally stalwart allies. In April, Italy’s president, Giorgio Napolitano, pardoned a U.S. Air Force colonel convicted in the rendition case, a move Napolitano hoped would keep American-Italian relations strong, especially on security matters.

Napolitano said he granted the pardon in hopes of resolving an affair that the United States considered unprecedented because a U.S. military officer for NATO had been convicted for deeds committed on Italian territory.

The colonel, Joseph Romano, was security chief of the Aviano air base in northern Italy, where Nasr was taken on his way to Egypt.

In issuing the pardon, Napolitano’s office said the president had taken into consideration the fact that Obama, immediately after his election, had put an end to George W. Bush administration anti-terror practices that both Italy and the European Union considered to be “not compatible with fundamental principles of rule of law.”

Italy: convicted ex-CIA chief detained in Panama

The Italian justice ministry says a former CIA station chief who was convicted in the 2003 abduction of an Egyptian terror suspect from a street of Milan has been detained in Panama.

Robert Seldon Lady, the former Milan station chief, was sentenced by an Italian appeals court earlier this year in the extraordinary rendition case to nine years in prison after being tried in absentia in Italy.

The ministry said it didn’t immediately have details on when or where in the Central American country Lady was detained.

Criticized Petraeus to take $1 salary at NY school

Former CIA director David Petraeus (peh-TRAY’-uhs) is taking a big salary cut for his visiting professorship at the City University of New York after being criticized for how much he was getting paid.

The New York Times reports (http://nyti.ms/13n0A8O ) Petraeus will teach his seminar at Macaulay (muh-KAHL’-lee) Honors College in the next academic year for $1. That’s down quite a bit from the $200,000 that Gawker.com first reported he was getting.

The high salary for someone teaching one class spurred outrage in a system in which the average full-time faculty member salary is just under $90,000.

Petraeus’ attorney says he proposed the change because he wanted to keep focus on the students and the teaching, not the money.

Petraeus was an Iraq and Afghanistan war hero but left the CIA in scandal after an affair with his biographer.

Did Vogue Crash the Set of Homeland For Claire Danes's Cover Shoot?

By Justin Fenner

Is that Claire Danes or her Homeland character, Carrie Mathison, on the cover of Vogue‘s August issue? Danes, who plays a CIA agent on the hit show, is so in character on the cover and in the pages of the magazine that it’s a little difficult to make the distinction.

It doesn’t hurt that her costar Damian Lewis, who plays Marine Nicholas Brody, has a guest spot in some of the pictures, making it look a little like photographer Annie Leibovitz showed up on the set with a camera and a rack of designer clothing. But in the coordinating interview, Danes told Vogue writer Elizabeth Rubin that even though she’s connected with her character, being on the highly charged political drama has “not really” changed how she thinks.

“I think growing up in New York in a very liberal environment, I confused jingoism with patriotism, and that mistake has been corrected as I’ve reconsidered what the potential cost of serving our country can be,” Danes said. “But I don’t think I’ve become more of a political beast.”

If you need any more proof of Danes’s power as an actor, take a look at more photos from her Vogue shoot here. …read more

Senators Caving To Obama’s EPA Nominee

By Breaking News

gina Senators Caving To Obama’s EPA Nominee

Right now our nation is almost falling apart and it seems that no one has any backbone to stand up not just against Barack Obama, but all those that he places into office! From what has happened in recent times, with the many scandals and little action being taken on them, it now seems that maybe the people in Congress should just stay home. Perhaps they should not collect a penny, because none of them seem to care or even think of what will happen next week much less 20 years from now because of their inaction. Senator David Vitter (R-LA), a recent power to be dealt with, now seems to be caving to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) nominee Gina McCarthy because she answered questions right! Come on now, once she gets into her office, she will do just as Obama tells her to do! Yes, both sides are now almost a total waste for being in Washington, D.C. unless they have the big names with them; the common people do not really matter.

Let us take an early example of this with Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) when she voted not to make English the national language. Now let us jump forward to today and check out Senator David Vitter and what he is about to do. Senator David Vitter, along with others, are now thinking of allowing Obama to have his EPA head so he can continue to stop coal, oil, and natural gas!

Just today we learn that Senator David Vitter whom once had stated that he would filibuster her nomination, is now thinking of confirmation her.

We have to wonder just what is Senator David Vitter giving up to do this?

We asked his office and we got no comment, leaving us to wonder why the change of heart and why the support of someone who will be used to destroy the coal industry, put people out of work and help to cause energy prices to skyrocket. What did they get in return for their not stopping the nomination because we do know that most of the time something is given up or given away when a vote switches? We just have to wonder anyway just what good is Congress since Obama seems to be able to not just ignore the Constitution, but do as he pleases, much like a Dictator rather than a President.

Now, I have reported a few of these that I discovered myself and every one of them were deleted by Google within 3-5 months. The last video I made was of the Lazar style UFO over Cape of Good Hope, Africa, but those @#$#erds at Google deleted it soon after. The post is on the left side of this web site. What I’m saying is that I have reported over 50 Google earth UFOs and none…I repeat none exit today. That in it self is undeniable proof that Google in working with the US government to keep alien evidence under wraps. It sounds like Google, the NSA and CIA are in bed together. You can also see that when you visit Google Mars. It looks like a child’s scrap book, not a professionally put together map. Scott C. Waring
