Can any one tell me that whether CGI based web application is good for handling high traffic applications or reporting tool or ERP application?
I’m specific with C with Mysql.
Any resource or a little advantages of CGI for such application are welcome.

Jurassic Park Dino SFX Were Animal Sex Sounds
With the recent re-release of Jurassic Park in 3D (read our review) plenty of fans are waxing nostalgic about the beloved dinosaur franchise. IGN’s own Lucy O’Brien recently wrote an editorial on why it’s her favorite film. There have been a wealth of behind-the-scenes featuretts detailing how the effects team created the revolutionary look of the dinosaurs using a combination of CGI and practical effects.
Here’s one we didn’t know, though: The Dinosaur sound effects were created with animal sex sounds. Yep, NY Mag reports that recordings of animals either in the midst of, or gearing up for, a “romantic moment” were used. Velociraptor = turtle love.

Dogs In Jail: Custody Canine Program Rescues Animals, Rehabilitates Men (PHOTOS)
By The Huffington Post News Editors
Glock, a German shepherd once on the verge of being euthanized for aggression, lay down on the grass, paws up, and quietly enjoyed a belly rub from a new friend.
The 3-year-old purebred has undergone quite a transformation since being plucked from an animal shelter’s death row, thanks to an unlikely group of dog trainers — inmates at Men’s Central Jail.
“Glock was a little aggressive, not obedient, didn’t want to stay in the kennel,” said John Buchholz, 40, an entertainment industry CGI artist from Downey jailed on an auto theft charge. “In a matter of weeks, through a daily routine where we take turns every half hour to train him, we’ve seen progress.”

3 Companies to Watch As Obamacare Stumbles Forward
By Keith Speights, The Motley Fool
Like a toddler, Obamacare is three years old but only just getting started. And also like a toddler, it appears likely to cause something of a mess. That looks to be particularly true with the health insurance exchanges slated to launch in October of this year. More than half of the states — 26 in total — opted to pass on creating a state-run health insurance exchange. Another seven states elected to go with a hybrid federal-state operation, leaving only 17 states plus the District of Columbia choosing to launch their own exchanges.
Despite the messy beginning, these health insurance exchanges could radically change the health care landscape in the U.S. in the coming years. Here are three companies to closely watch as Obamacare stumbles forward.
1. Selling shovels
As in the days of the gold rush, sometimes it pays more to sell shovels than actually mine the gold. That could be the case with CGI Group . Perhaps no other company is as entrenched in providing the capabilities needed for health insurance exchange as this Canadian information technology firm.
Large consulting firm Accenture landed the contract with the state of California last July to build one of the largest exchanges. Accenture’s bid included sub-contracting part of the work to none other than CGI Group. That’s not surprising. CGI is also involved in helping build state-run exchanges in Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Vermont. And remember the large number of states that decided to simply let the feds get the enjoyment of creating health exchanges? CGI is helping develop those platforms, too.
CGI‘s current valuation with a price-to-earnings multiple of nearly 160 looks ridiculously high — until you consider the future earnings expected for the company. When growth estimates are factored in, CGI‘s forward price-to-earnings multiple stands below 11. That’s relatively cheap when we look at the company’s historical valuation.
2. Playing both sides
One company is playing both sides of the fence when it comes to health insurance exchanges. UnitedHealth Group will sell health insurance through the exchanges — and help build the federally-operated exchange also. UnitedHealth’s Optum business unit bought Quality Software Services Inc., or QSSI, in September. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a contract for helping build the federal health insurance exchange to QSSI and others, including the aforementioned CGI Group, at the beginning of 2012.
Optum’s purchase of QSSI raised eyebrows on Capitol Hill. In December, leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to the chairman of QSSI asking pointed questions about the potential of a conflict of interest. Optum executive Andy Slavitt stated that UnitedHealth and Optum are “separately reported financially and separately managed,” noting that Optum’s clients include several UnitedHealth competitors.
Even without the QSSI purchase and its associated controversy, UnitedHealth remains a company to watch as health insurance exchanges are implemented. My interest really isn’t related so much to the financial impact on …read more

Video: Angry giraffe frightens vacationers on safari in Jurassic Park-style chase
Filed under:
Step aside Steven Spielberg, here’s a real-life animal-versus-car that did not require CGI nor a multi-million dollar production budget. As some vacationers on safari in South Africa recently learned, an upset 13-foot tall giraffe can be just as terrifying as the Tyrannosaurus Rex that chased down Jeff Goldblum and a Jeep Wrangler in the 1993 blockbuster film Jurassic Park.
According to reports, the safari group was photographing a wild giraffe, when for some reason, the animal began to chase the open-top vehicle at speeds upwards of 30 miles per hour. At one point, the giraffe even sideswipes the truck, knocking off the side mirror before the driver was finally able to escape the animal’s pursuit. All that’s missing is a little John Williams music bed.
Scroll down to watch two news reports showing the dramatic chase, an incident we’re sure the safari-goers will remember for years to come.

Sutherland Joins Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii
The 3D disaster movie Pompeii from Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson will see 24’s Kiefer Sutherland play its villainous Roman senator.
According to THR, his character will make trouble for the film’s hero played by Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington. He’s a slave on a mission to save his best friend, a gladiator trapped in a coliseum, and his true love, a young woman betrothed to the manipulative senator.
Set just before one of history’s most notable volcanic eruptions in 79 A. D., the story will use the disaster as the film’s backdrop and, no doubt, for numerous CGI effects in the same vein as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow.

Report: One Million Moms says Geico car insurance ad promotes bestiality [w/video]
Filed under:
The last time the group One Million Moms got upset about a commercial promoting bestiality was seven months ago. The offensive ad that time was a Skittles commercial that began and ended with a girl making out with a CGI walrus. Just in case you didn’t get that, a real live human girl was making out with a real live computer-generated walrus, and One Million Moms (an organization which is, by their own admission, only thousands of moms) publicly wailed and gnashed their teeth over the promotion of bestiality.
Now new charges of unsavory love of animals have been leveled at a Geico commercial featuring repeat character Maxwell the Pig. Maxwell’s a CGI swine who’s been placed in various situations for more than a year, promoting car insurance giant Geico and its app that allows Maxwell to get speedy service 24 hours a day. In the latest spot, he’s on a date and when his car breaks down in a secluded area, and his date isn’t in such a hurry for the two truck to arrive. From where we sit, the way it plays out, though, is totally harmless; most kids wouldn’t even get the suggestion, and any kid ought to know that girls just don’t get down like that with digital pigs.
One Million Moms has its eye on Geico, though, saying, “A bridesmaid was flirting with the gecko in a different commercial, so this is just becoming a norm for GEICO it seems.” If you think you can stand the filth, the commercial at issue is below.

Video: Fast & Furious 6 circus heads to Europe in new Super Bowl spot
Filed under: Marketing/Advertising, Videos, TV/Movies
Among the many Super Bowl XLVII commercials that caught our attention last night was the first official movie trailer for Fast & Furious 6, which promises more over-the-top action as Dominic Toretto and crew tear up the streets of Europe. Returning Fast & Furious stars include Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris and, back from the dead, Michelle Rodriguez. Predictably, there will be plenty of tuned hardware on display – both automotive and anatomical – along with loads of CGI-assisted stunts and chases.
Other than a stolen tank and crashing cargo plane, some of the vehicular excitement includes cars like a Dodge Charger Daytona (likely a lookalike), Ferrari Enzo FXX (ditto), along with today’s Charger SRT8, Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Subaru WRX STI, plus models like the Land Rover Defender and even what looks to be a vintage Ford Escort Mexico rally car.
The movie will be in theaters this summer, but TheFastAndTheFurious.com is promising an extended first look at the film tomorrow. Until then, you can check out the Super Bowl trailer posted below.
