Huma Abedin: The Latest “Good Wife”

By Judy B. Lloyd

Huma Abedin Huma Abedin: The Latest “Good Wife”

We’ve seen it all before in real political life. Hilary Clinton stands by her man after he has engaged in oral sex with Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office. Huma Mahmood Abedin, now the latest victim, stands by her sexting-addicted husband Anthony Weiner.

It’s like a season of CBS’s epic drama, The Good WifeThe show examines the twists and turns of a political wife who stood by her husband after torrid affairs and a corruption scandal landed him in jail. The Good Wife, Alicia Florrick, is left to pick up the pieces for her family. She re-enters the workforce as a junior associate with a prominent Chicago law firm. Four seasons later, she’s granted partnership in the firm.

The Good Wife, Alicia Florrick remains by her husband’s side. Last season, her law firm defended husband Peter Florrick and his campaign as they dealt with charges of voter fraud after he is elected Governor of Illinois. Alicia defends him along with the senior partners. Its’s ironic under the circumstances. It’s why we keep watching.

This early interview with Julianna Margulies, who plays Alicia Florrick on The Good Wife, paints the picture of the modern day political spouse –

A reporter asked why political women don’t tend to get caught in sex scandals. “Women do not have the time,” Margulies answered. “Dear Lord! Between the kids and the job and the cleaning and the cooking, we just don’t have the time!”

Margulies admits that she, too, tended to look askance at the political wives who stood by their wayward men — until she took the role. “[The part] gave tremendous respect for them — so quick to judge until I stood in Alicia’s shoes,” Margulies said. “It’s not like these are silly little women waiting for their husbands to come home. A lot of them have two degrees and are incredibly accomplished.” Read more here.

Enter Huma Abedin, wife of the Weiner (a.k.a. “Carlos Danger”). She shows a striking resemblance to The Good Wife.

In the real life saga, former Congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned due to a “sexting” scandal in 2012, appears to be rebuilding trust in his marital relationship after the birth of the couple’s first child. After the bitterness, blame, denial, lying and cheating, Weiner decides to run for Mayor of New York; his fully supportive wife at his side. She is once again betrayed; her husband once again caught again “sexting” under the alias “Carlos Danger”.

More people are watching the Weiner-Abedin union now with greater scrutiny. What most people don’t know is this: The saga gets even juicier.

The man who asked America to define what the meaning of the word “is” is regarding sexual relationships presided over the Weiner-Abedin wedding as officiant. Weiner (a Jew) marries Abedin (a Muslim). And Bill Clinton officiates.

It doesn’t get much better than this.

If the true life episode with Weiner and Abedin wasn’t an episode of The Good Wife before, it is most likely going to play a role now.

Recognizing Stan Musial Is More Than Just A Christian Act

By Judy B. Lloyd

3406098830 57642c5bac Recognizing Stan Musial is More than Just a Christian Act

I am a devout Major League Baseball fan. I love the game. My son has played Little League since he was four years old, and I used to live very close to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

I think I own most all of the great baseball movies: Bull Durham, For Love of the Game, Major League, The Sandlot, and The Rookie.

Being a devoted fan, I understand the value of the streak, baseball rituals, and what makes great players exceptional in the Major Leagues. Part of that is the ritual itself.

Stan Musial is in an elite group of baseball greats elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. His passing this January was a huge blow to the City of St. Louis and his fans nationwide.

Musial, a devout Christian, was remembered recently by a grounds keeper at the St. Louis stadium who etched a cross and Musial’s #6 onto pitcher’s mound before every game.  Apparently one fan complained:

“Stan the Man,” a deeply spiritual and devout Christian, passed away in January. As a tribute to Musial, a few weeks ago a grounds-crew member began etching the cross and Musial’s number, 6, onto the pitcher’s mound before every game. (One fan complained that the “6″ too closely resembled the Christian icthys symbol.)

Last week, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak ordered that the markings be removed, explaining that he learned of the practice from a newspaper story. Mozeliak told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “It’s just not club policy to be putting religious symbols on the playing field or throughout the ballpark. I didn’t ask for the reason behind it. I just asked for it to stop.”

Read the rest here.

Interestingly, the St. Louis Cardinals held their “Christian Day” bringing together people of faith last week on July 6th.

In my mind, St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak went too far in appeasing one fan in the name of “political correctness”. What’s wrong with a groundskeeper remembering his boyhood hero? And why take action the same week that your franchise is recognizing Christians?

In contrast, today in St. Louis, the “Stan Musial Memorial Bridge” became official when Gov. Jay Nixon signed legislation approving it.

Since the bridge is shared between the States of Illinois and Missouri, federal legislation is pending signature by the President which would rename the bridge the “Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge” to honor our military. This was the result of a bipartisan compromise byIllinois Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL) and several other Members of Congress.

Seeing all of these acts in the same week made me think that being “PC” (as in “politically correct”) has definitely made otherwise smart people go a little bonkers as they try to appease finger-pointers who are religiously intolerant.

This is what Dr. Ben Carson, now a Washington Times columnist, said in this article about submitting to “political correctness” –

Barack Obama: George W. Bush Fan Or Foe?

By Peter Brown

Prior to being elected President, Barack Obama came across as a real outsider hoping to bring change to a failing system personified in one man: then-President of the United States George W. Bush. Indeed, much of the criticism leveled against Bush was valid. He and the Congress had started long and costly wars in Afghanistan and Iraq at a time when America could ill afford to be spending such amounts, given the precarious state of its public finances. Bush had made compromises with treasured civil liberties by passing the invasive Patriot Act and indefinitely detaining suspects at Guantanamo Bay. Some of these suspects at Guantanamo Bay had been tortured by the American authorities. George W. Bush had been a combination of the worst traits of Republicans and Democrats; he had combined the aggressive militarism and nationalism of Republicans, hated by many people worldwide, with the free spending ways of the liberal Democrats, leading to the worst public finances this nation had ever seen (that is, before Barack Obama’s presidency). He gave Obama a mess that unfortunately has been further complicated by Obama instead of cleaned up. Indeed, while many admired George W. Bush’s personal decency, as far as policy was concerned, many began to see Bush’s policies for what they were: disasters.

Many of these things should be no mystery to anyone after Obama rightfully criticized Bush over and over again in the 2008 campaign. It has been noted by some writers that Obama’s policies have been very oddly a continuation of much of what Bush’s policies were while he was in office. Of course, there have been differences as one would hope to see between a “conservative” Republican and a far-left Democrat, but the similarities have been uncanny. Obama has continued Bush’s interventionist ways and has compiled a record of spending that matches his largess.

That is why it was no surprise to see Barack Obama get up and roundly praise the man whom he had routinely condemned to get elected. To see him chum around with the former Presidents both left and right showed what a sham his criticisms of Bush had been. Bush was transformed from the almost devilish figure he had been to Obama in his early days to a man of “compassion and generosity,” a real example (in Obama’s eyes) of what a leader should be. It is clear that Barack Obama has joined the “world’s most exclusive club” and has forgotten the very reasons why he wanted to be elected in the first place. It was also no surprise to see George W. Bush praised by Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton in addition to Obama. Maybe this “conservative” President, this “Reaganite,” is a little more to the left than we had assumed. Maybe our current President is a little more of an insider and a statist than he appeared to be in order to get elected to the world’s most powerful office. Food for thought, at least.

An Eagle Scout’s Take On The Current Boy Scout Controversy

By Daniel Noe

Yesterday, Western Journalism linked to an article about the controversy over allowing openly gay boys into the Boy Scouts of America controversy.

It looks like after relentless pressure, the Boy Scouts are caving into the homosexual agenda (which as I will explain later has nothing to do with homosexuality per se.)

This just might be the last straw for me…

First, some background. From 1998 until 2004, I was a proud member of BSA Troop 199 in Oldwick, New Jersey. I made a lot of friends and even acquired a few mentors during my time in the scouts. One of my proudest accomplishments in my 26 years was attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in October 2004. I remember the ceremony as if it was just yesterday. It was a lot of hard work, but it was more than worth it.

I am still in touch with several of my fellow Eagle Scouts (some of whom just might be reading this right now!) And man do we have a strong opinion on what is happening to the program we were privileged to be a part of during our teenage years.

I do know some “scout dads” who will cease any involvement, current or former, with the Boy Scouts should they yield to the gay lobby.

I should also mention (proudly) that I am a theologically and culturally conservative Christian who after attending a more moderate church for 15 years was saved earlier this year after attending an Independent Baptist church for two weeks. I am proud to call Sun Valley Baptist Church in Anthem, Arizona my new home church.

The reason why I am specific in terms of what kind of Christian I am is because sadly, a LOT of Christianity has been watered down in America. Whole denominations are indifferent to traditional marriage, “social justice,” the increasing usurpation of our God-given liberties under multiple recent administrations, and even abortion.

When it comes to marriage, I subscribe strictly to its biblical definition. (To some people, that makes me a “bigot,” an accusation I will proudly wear with a badge of honor.) Why, you may ask? Because God did not create Adam and Steve, nor Alice and Eve. He created Adam and Eve. End of story.

I believe that Christians are to hate sin while at the same time loving the sinner. It is not gays themselves I am opposed to. It is the gay lifestyle, which is shamelessly promoted on television, Hollywood, the rest of the media, and the Democratic Party (this should not suggest that I am any fan of the Republican Party, FYI.) It is specifically promoted as a “normal” lifestyle, which just simply is not true to the many of us Christians who read the Bible for ourselves.

It is not the job of Christians to call them names (i.e. “perverts”, “queers”, or worse.) Unfortunately, some Christians will distract fellow church-goers from the fact that they are sinners by just demonizing gays (or immigrants or Muslims) all the time. These Christians should know better as

Normalizing Sin And The Decadent Society

By David Lane

us capitol building SC 3.6 Percent Unemployment for Government Workers

A keynote is defined as being “the first and harmonically fundamental tone of a scale.”

Sustainable freedom and a free people require a foundation of moral absolutes that foster biblical truth and restrain vice — the fundamental tone in the Founding of America was laid on the bedrock of “for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith … ” and the Geneva Bible.

Homosexuality is debauchery. God’s loyalty and fidelity — that guard the nation — make sustainable freedom dependent on seeking virtue. There is no “fear of God” from the Republican Party establishment today.

“Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality,Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.” -1 Corinthians. 6:9-10

Virtue is a key component of freedom.

What homosexuals do in their bedroom is none of my business, but — politically — someone’s values are going to reign supreme.

R.L Wing, analyzing the principles of Sun Tzu, observed: “The weapons were quite different, but the armies were nearly as large and the devastation and human suffering just as profound. Today, the chariots and crossbows are gone, but the conflict, throughout the world, is exactly the same: a struggle for ideological supremacy and control of resources.” Ideological supremacy — the moral against the immoral — is the current fight within the Republican Party by establishment moderates and the biblically conservative grassroot, precinct-level ground forces.

Solomon wrote, “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

The glory of a nation lies in its righteousness, not in its wealth or military might. The key to maintaining sustainable freedom is righteousness. Moral character is what preserves the nation and guarantees freedom.

Freedom always faces a fundamental moral challenge; virtue is a key component of freedom. Taking the present Republican leadership amoral route — in the end — will destroy the Republican Party, initially, and then vie for America’s freedom.

It will take nothing short of a cultural revolution for biblical arguments to be heard, much less to become material to the debate. Homosexual desire and marriage is unnatural and — more so — is a symptom of advanced cultural decay and precursor to the collapse of the Republican Party and the nation.

Os Guinness’ A Free People’s Suicide – a must read – says “Freedom requires truth and virtue. Arnold Toynbee’s repeated observation, ‘History shows that all great nations commit suicide’. But the theme of this book owes far more to Abraham Lincoln’s expressly American understanding of the challenge: ‘if destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.’”

Iowa Republican Party Chairman A.J. Spiker did a great service to America in his letter to RNC leadership:

Fellow RNC Members,

While inclusion is important, elected Republicans (we all know the …read more

State Senator Blocking Nevada Anti-NDAA Bill

By Breaking News

On March 26th, we asked you to contact Representative Tobin, who was blocking HB 2573 from coming up for a vote.

The response was huge.

Activist PostWestern JournalismLew Rockwell Blog, and several other websites picked up the alert, which was seen by thousands of people across the web. The Action Alert worked so well, according to our friends at Freedom Outpost, that Rep. Tobin did a 180 and changed his stance on the bill.

Now, State Senator Tick Segerblom is blocking Nevada’s Anti-NDAA legislation.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) authorized the indefinite military detention, extraordinary rendition, and application of the laws of war without charge or trial of anyone, including U.S. citizens. SB378, once amended, will protect the rights of the people of Nevada. It has 16 cosponsors, including 14 Republicans and two Democrats, more than nearly every other bill in the legislature.

When PANDA Nevada’s State Team Leader, Chris Corbett, met with Senator Segerblom last week, the Senator laid out a challenge:

“If people really care about this bill, they’ll call me”

Tick Segerblom is playing games with our rights, and he has laid out a challenge. Let’s show him we don’t play games with our unalienable rights.

Challenge Accepted.

Call or fax State Senator Tick Segerblom and politely tell him to defend our unalienable rights. Tell him to honor his oath and bring SB 378 up for a vote. Most of all, tell him that if he does not, you and countless others will not only refuse to vote for him, but do whatever it takes to unseat him from office.

Contact State Senator Tick Segerblom NOW (Out-of-staters are encouraged to contact as well, and we find it most effective if you don’t mention your state):

Big Banks May Be Getting Too Big To Jail

By Breaking News

Eric Holder 10 SC Big Banks May Be Getting Too Big to Jail

Are banks too big to jail?

If there was any doubt about the answer to that question, Eric H. Holder Jr., the nation’s attorney general, last week blurted out what we’ve all known to be true but few inside the Obama administration have said aloud: Yes, they are.

”I am concerned that the size of some of these institutions becomes so large that it does become difficult for us to prosecute them when we are hit with indications that if we do prosecute — if we do bring a criminal charge — it will have a negative impact on the national economy, perhaps even the world economy,” Mr. Holder told the Senate Judiciary Committee. ”I think that is a function of the fact that some of these institutions have become too large.”

Mr. Holder continued, acknowledging that the size of banks ”has an inhibiting influence.” He said that it affects ”our ability to bring resolutions that I think would be more appropriate.”

College Creates Plenty Of Debt But Not Much Skill

Student Debt College creates plenty of debt but not much skill

Our children’s opportunities to learn based on technological advances has been more than offset by the loss of appreciation of literature and the humanities – including history, theology, philosophy and even economics. Our old friend Jon T. I met a young man recently with a degree in “Environmental Studies” from screwball UCal/Santa Cruz, home of the Banana Slugs. His student loan is $90,000 and he still can’t get a job. His girlfriend has a degree in Psychology and is only $60,000 in debt and can’t get a job either. In a two class society, only the wealthy and their satraps will be able to get a college education.

My Grandson’s Saudi ex-roommate at University of Alaska/Anchorage rolled out his prayer mat then went out to play. Illinois Must Honor Concealed Carry Law

By Doug Book

guns SC Illinois Must Honor Concealed Carry Law

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has told Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan for the last time that she MUST honor the Constitution of the United States by doing away with her state’s ban on the concealed carry of firearms.

It was back in December of last year that a 3 judge panel of the Court found the Illinois law banning concealed carry to be unconstitutional. “The Supreme Court has decided that the [2nd] amendment confers a right to bear arms for self-defense, which is as important outside the home as inside,” wrote 7th Circuit Judge Richard Posner, paraphrasing the opinion of S.C. Justice Samuel Alito.  Naturally, the scrupulously liberal Madigan then petitioned the entire 10 member court, hoping that the ruling might be overturned. But the full court refused to reconsider the ruling of the panel. (1)

And now the Illinois legislature has about 4 months to rewrite its unconstitutional ban into something acceptable to groups which strictly preserve the 2ndAmendment rights of the American people. And that is the REAL question: will the ONLY remaining state to disallow concealed carry abide by the ruling of the court by creating an honest and reasonable statute? If so, it will represent a truly staggering break with the leftist-inspired, Illinois tradition of governing as though rights were privileges of which the common classes are rarely if ever deserving.

After the 2010 McDonald v Chicago decision in which the Supreme Court struck down the city’s decades-old, unconstitutional handgun ban, brainless thug Mayor Richard Daley and city officials crafted a new ordinance to “comply” with the ruling. Naturally, this group of self-serving thieves and political prostitutes sought only to defy the Court with an ordinance which limited each person to ONE operable weapon; allowed no gun to be taken outside the home; prohibited the existence of gun stores and firing ranges within the city; mandated “approved” training and marksmanship; charged $100 for a 3 year pistol permit; banned handguns the police superintendent considered “unsafe due to their size” and, of course, required fingerprinting of gun owners and registration of their weapons.  Needless to say, these provisions did NOT apply to law enforcement or certain city officials. (2)

Since that time, constitutional rights groups have been in court with the City of Chicago on a seemingly daily basis, suing to terminate the Daley legacy of wanton abrogation of liberty. On three occasions, the city has lost court decisions to the NRA and twice Rahm Emanuel has decided to amend the Daley ordinance, “…conceding that the city had little chance of successfully defending lawsuits against certain aspects of it.” (3)

Incredibly, Chicago City Corporation Counsel Steve Patton has accused the NRA and others of “…cherry-pick[ing] the things they thought they could marshal a challenge (on).” How does one “cherry-pick” UNCONSTITUTIONAL provisions in a city ordinance? Could anything be more typical of a Chicago official than to whine because the city’s assault on freedom has been found unacceptable by those who prefer liberty to the beneficent dictatorship of nanny-state hoodlums!

In Defense Of Gun Rights For The Mentally Ill…

By Daniel Noe

Talk about defending the indefensible.
Starting in middle school, I volunteered with my church to worship with the mentally and physically ill community at the Matheny Medical and Educational Center in Gladstone, New Jersey. In high school, I continued to visit Matheny and spend time individually with many of the residents (and volunteered regularly during one summer when I was home from college.) I saw firsthand for myself how grossly distorted the stereotypes of mentally ill people perpetuated by Adam Sandler’s movies are. While the typical person would probably be scared and uncomfortable encountering one of the residents of Matheny, I just smiled at all of them, knowing what wonderful souls they all are.
Specifically, I remember attending a Christmas concert at Matheny in which a number of the residents performed in a choir. I did not care that they lacked the “talent” of people who are on shows like “American Idol.” These beautiful souls had at least ten times the heart those apparent “celebrities” can ever dream of having. Ten times out of ten, I would rather see the Matheny residents perform than watch so-called “talent” shows on tv; and I hope I am not alone here.
Liberals and “poverty pimps” like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton struggle to explain their relevance by claiming that they speak for groups like women, minorities, gays, etc. who they say cannot speak for themselves. I’ll bet they did not once ever consider speaking up for the right of a group that in reality cannot literally speak for themselves. Of course, I mean the mentally ill.
In short, I am disgusted with how the mentally ill are being scapegoated in this so-called “debate” over gun control.
A few weeks ago, we here at Western Journalism linked back to an article originally published on LewRockwell.com titled “Don’t Disarm the Mentally Ill.” Browsing the Facebook comments regarding this post, I was very disappointed with some I saw. Apparently, I and like-minded people have a lot to do in debunking all the well-ingrained stereotypes people have about a very misunderstood segment of our society. If I asked you to picture in your mind a mentally ill person, what would said picture look like? A delusional schizophrenic walking around in bunny slippers? I sure hope not. Mental illness is a much broader concept that many might not be able to understand. But I digress…
Anyway, the article had several good points. First of all, define “mentally ill.” I fear, not just under Obama but any future administration, that the definition of this term will be expanded either based upon political preferences or other unusual factors. And apparently, one out of every five Americans two years ago could be described as “mentally ill.” Again, though, who is “mentally ill?” Is the young female doctor who suffers a panic attack and has to be institutionalized for a day or two deserving of this classification? What about ordinary people who are among the 11% of Americans taking antidepressants? …read more

Video: Obama Lied, Americans Died

By Kris Zane

Part 2 of Western Journalism’s video series on the Obama Administration’s and Senate’s Report on the attack on the Benghazi consulate. Click here for Part 1.

The Obama Administration’s “Benghazi Accountability Report” was a sham that didn’t actually answer any questions; didn’t address why four Americans were left to die; didn’t address the entire “protest turned violent” over an anti-Muslim video lie, or where exactly Obama supposedly got this information; and, despite the term “accountability” in the report, didn’t actually hold anyone accountable.

The Senate’s Report, “Flashing Red: A Special Report on the Terrorist Attack at Benghazi,” shows that there was no evidence of a “protest turned violent” over an anti-Muslim video; shows that Obama left Americans to die while he twiddled his thumbs; and actually answers many questions regarding exactly what occurred on September 11.

But it doesn’t go far enough.

Congressman Frank R. Wolf, along with over twenty-five co-sponsors in the House of Representatives, have introduced House Resolution 824 to create a Special Committee to conduct a real investigation into the attack on the Benghazi consulate in order to find out what really happened in Benghazi and what  Barack Hussein Obama is hiding.
