Plastic Headlight Lens Restoration Results.

By Sharp Advice

:coffee:

Many threads on the subject posted in automotive forum. Many are old and some very outdated. Many original posting members long gone also…:( Oh Well…

Had badly yellowed and cloudy plastic lens. Prior cleaning result only satisfactory and none lasted all that long…:thumbdn: Hopefully, product used today will last longer….

Product used, 3M Headlight Restoration Solutions. Completed kit purchased locally at the H/Freight store while shopping. Impulse purchased item!!!…

Final Results. Excellent….

Follow directions and not long after wards the DIY headlight restoration project is done.

Side Note:

Most products warn user not to over due or use excess product or excess process step(s). If you’re from the OLD school, you’ve likely heard the phrase, if some is good, more is better?!!!

Then you’ll love this product. Every step in the multiple sanding process of the first four/five steps instructions advise and encourage excessive sanding.

YEP! More is better!!!… And the instructions encourage it!…:D

:beers:

No question(s) asked. Therefore, no replies needed. FYI only post.

An Eagle Scout’s Take On The Current Boy Scout Controversy

By Daniel Noe

Yesterday, Western Journalism linked to an article about the controversy over allowing openly gay boys into the Boy Scouts of America controversy.

It looks like after relentless pressure, the Boy Scouts are caving into the homosexual agenda (which as I will explain later has nothing to do with homosexuality per se.)

This just might be the last straw for me…

First, some background. From 1998 until 2004, I was a proud member of BSA Troop 199 in Oldwick, New Jersey. I made a lot of friends and even acquired a few mentors during my time in the scouts. One of my proudest accomplishments in my 26 years was attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in October 2004. I remember the ceremony as if it was just yesterday. It was a lot of hard work, but it was more than worth it.

I am still in touch with several of my fellow Eagle Scouts (some of whom just might be reading this right now!) And man do we have a strong opinion on what is happening to the program we were privileged to be a part of during our teenage years.

I do know some “scout dads” who will cease any involvement, current or former, with the Boy Scouts should they yield to the gay lobby.

I should also mention (proudly) that I am a theologically and culturally conservative Christian who after attending a more moderate church for 15 years was saved earlier this year after attending an Independent Baptist church for two weeks. I am proud to call Sun Valley Baptist Church in Anthem, Arizona my new home church.

The reason why I am specific in terms of what kind of Christian I am is because sadly, a LOT of Christianity has been watered down in America. Whole denominations are indifferent to traditional marriage, “social justice,” the increasing usurpation of our God-given liberties under multiple recent administrations, and even abortion.

When it comes to marriage, I subscribe strictly to its biblical definition. (To some people, that makes me a “bigot,” an accusation I will proudly wear with a badge of honor.) Why, you may ask? Because God did not create Adam and Steve, nor Alice and Eve. He created Adam and Eve. End of story.

I believe that Christians are to hate sin while at the same time loving the sinner. It is not gays themselves I am opposed to. It is the gay lifestyle, which is shamelessly promoted on television, Hollywood, the rest of the media, and the Democratic Party (this should not suggest that I am any fan of the Republican Party, FYI.) It is specifically promoted as a “normal” lifestyle, which just simply is not true to the many of us Christians who read the Bible for ourselves.

It is not the job of Christians to call them names (i.e. “perverts”, “queers”, or worse.) Unfortunately, some Christians will distract fellow church-goers from the fact that they are sinners by just demonizing gays (or immigrants or Muslims) all the time. These Christians should know better as

Ledger on concrete wall Calculation Check

By Jgavin26

Hello,

Through unforeseen circumstances I had to change the design of my deck. I was going to build a freestanding deck but will now need to use a ledger attached to a solid concrete basement wall. I am in the process of designing it and have proofed calculations for everything except the wall itself. I took a stab at the calculations; does this seem right?

I will be using ½” hilti wedge anchors with a min embed depth of 2.75”. To figure out whether or not the concrete will hold up I calculated the following:

Concrete Strength: Assumed 1000 psi. I don’t have original plans so I erred on the side of caution here. Home was built in 1977. Any idea if a standard strength requirement was used then?
Bearing Surface: 2.15 Square Inches. Calculated by multiplying {[circumference (1.57”) x Embed Depth (2.75”)] divided/ by 2 (only half of total surface area will bear on concrete)} = 2.15 square inches.
Bearing Strength of Concrete holding Wedge Anchors: 2,150 Pounds 2.15 square inches x 1000psi = 2,150 Pounds

My calculated live and dead load for the ledger is 736LBS/Foot and I plan on using two anchors top and bottom spaced every 12”. So, every foot I will have 4,300lbs worth of concrete bearing strength which is much greater than the planned load of 736 LBS/Foot. Do those calculations add up for you experts out there?

If it matters, FYI; top of deck will be 2’-5” high, 11’x9’(ledger side), 2x12s 12” oc

I am still trying to figure out how to calculate lateral load, but that may be better suited for a difference topic/post so this one doesn’t get off track.

Thanks for the help.

Prince Hisahito Heading To Elementary School Is Your Daily Dose Of Cute (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

There are few things that brighten our day as much as an adorable royal kid, especially one in sunglasses or pulled-up socks.

Fortunately, during his entrance ceremony for elementary school today, Japan’s Prince Hisahito opted for the latter look, with the addition of some more aww-inducing accents. The 6-year-old looked back-to-school ready in a short suit with loafers, white socks and a dapper cap. (FYI, he just graduated from kindergarten in March — shortest school vacation ever?)

His Imperial Highness — he’s third in line to the Chrysanthemum Throne — is sure to make plenty of friends in this get-up. Who wouldn’t want to trade lunch snacks with the kid carrying a leather tote bag? Lucky for the little guy, he had parents, Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko, to walk him up to school for the big day.

Oh hey, it’s a

Turns out, CC the sloth, who, FYI, is from the Staten Island Zoo, was on the show to help promote explorer Lucy Cooke’s book, ‘A Little Bit Of Sloth.’ According to Cooke, CC loved all the attention — “especially when the make up girls combed her hair so she looked all pretty for the show.”

Efficient logging of time measurements

By tamil.pamaran

Hi all,

I am working on a software, which was developed using C programming on unix environment. I have added certain functionality to the software.

Now, I interested in measuring time taken by new functionality (Mean value of huge amount of tests). Since new function will be part of many threads and will be running simultaneously.

I am looking for a efficient logging mechanism to log time duration for each execution, that will not reduce the performance.

I hope appending to a log file creates bottleneck.

FYI. This software is real time one and will be running for many weeks.

Thanks in advance,

Tamil

How to troubleshoot a 1000 nodes Apache cluster?

By admin_xor

Hi all.

May I get some expert advice on troubleshooting performance issues of a 1000 nodes Apache LB cluster. Users report slow loading/response of webpages. Different websites are hosted on this cluster for different clients. But all are reporting the same issue.

Could you please let me know what all basic aspects you would take into consideration for this sort of issue.

FYI. I do not have access to the load-balancers.
