An Inexorable Slide To Tyranny

By Gene Daily

With the passage of the NDAA and his use of executive orders, Obama has managed to bring about an inexorable slide to tyranny. On March 16, 2012, he signed executive order 13603 about “National Defense Resources Preparedness.” This act provides Obama with the authority to control food, water, production, material, and labor of almost unimaginable proportions. This, of course, is not the first time it has been done. Like it has been said, “There is nothing new under the sun.”

In 1933, just shortly after his election, Franklin D. Roosevelt declared a state of emergency. His actions were covered by the NIRA (National Industrial Recovery Act), which essentially gave him the same scope of power that Obama now has. In his inaugural address in January 1933, Roosevelt said, “If we are to go forward, we must move as a trained and loyal army willing to sacrifice for the good of common discipline, because without such discipline no progress is made, no leadership becomes effective. We are, I know, ready and willing to submit our lives and property to such discipline, because it makes possible a leadership which aims at a larger good. This I propose to offer, pledging that the larger purposes will bind upon us all as a scared obligation and with a unity of duty hitherto evoked only in time of armed strife. With this pledge taken, I assume unhesitatingly the leadership of this great army of our people dedicated to a disciplined attack upon our common problems.”

In the same year, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany. In many ways, Hitler and FDR faced similar problems with high unemployment, inflation, a lack of consumer confidence, a lack of industrial output, and a country in the depths of depression. Hitler also managed to unite his countrymen into one unified people under his total control, just as Roosevelt through executive order managed to command the entire nation’s economy. In Germany, this act was called “The Enabling Act”, another name but essentially the same function. For example, after the Enabling Act, Hitler declared public holidays for workers in all industries, while at the same time banning all workers’ unions.

Throughout much of the late 1920′s and into the late 1930′s, Mussolini in Italy enjoyed support and adulation from liberals and progressives in the USA. So great was his support that an image resembling him was contained within a sculpture representing Atlas in Rockefeller Plaza. He was being revered as having unified and put the labor force of Italy to work, creating a fast-growing Italian economy through collective means.

In January 2013, Obama in his second inaugural address said”But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action. For the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and

State Senator Blocking Nevada Anti-NDAA Bill

By Breaking News

On March 26th, we asked you to contact Representative Tobin, who was blocking HB 2573 from coming up for a vote.

The response was huge.

Activist PostWestern JournalismLew Rockwell Blog, and several other websites picked up the alert, which was seen by thousands of people across the web. The Action Alert worked so well, according to our friends at Freedom Outpost, that Rep. Tobin did a 180 and changed his stance on the bill.

Now, State Senator Tick Segerblom is blocking Nevada’s Anti-NDAA legislation.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) authorized the indefinite military detention, extraordinary rendition, and application of the laws of war without charge or trial of anyone, including U.S. citizens. SB378, once amended, will protect the rights of the people of Nevada. It has 16 cosponsors, including 14 Republicans and two Democrats, more than nearly every other bill in the legislature.

When PANDA Nevada’s State Team Leader, Chris Corbett, met with Senator Segerblom last week, the Senator laid out a challenge:

“If people really care about this bill, they’ll call me”

Tick Segerblom is playing games with our rights, and he has laid out a challenge. Let’s show him we don’t play games with our unalienable rights.

Challenge Accepted.

Call or fax State Senator Tick Segerblom and politely tell him to defend our unalienable rights. Tell him to honor his oath and bring SB 378 up for a vote. Most of all, tell him that if he does not, you and countless others will not only refuse to vote for him, but do whatever it takes to unseat him from office.

Contact State Senator Tick Segerblom NOW (Out-of-staters are encouraged to contact as well, and we find it most effective if you don’t mention your state):

Hunters Begin Boycott Over Colorado Gun Laws

Guns SC Hunters begin boycott over Colorado gun laws

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Hunters across the country are boycotting Colorado because of recent legislation meant to curtail gun violence.

Michael Bane, a producer for The Outdoor Channel, announced he will no longer film his four shows in Colorado, and hunters are joining the protests.

Hunting outfitters say people began cancelling trips after the legislation passed, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported ( ). The numbers are few, but growing.

Colorado’s governor signed bills this month that ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds, and require background checks for private and online gun sales.

Those new gun laws and others were drawn up in response to mass killings at a suburban Denver movie theater and a Connecticut elementary school.

Texas Map 2 SC Texas Anti NDAA Bill Heads to House Floor

You don’t mess with Texas. At least, that’s precisely what State Rep. Lyle Larson is saying with HB 149.

HB 149 is designed to counter the indefinite detention provisions, sections 1021 and 1022, of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. These sections authorize the indefinite military detention, without charge or trial, of anyone who commits a “belligerent act” or is suspected of terrorism and violate over 13 provisions of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. The law has also been condemned by retired members of the Armed Forces, a current U.S. CongressmanFederal Judge Katherine B. Forrest, conservative pundit Rush Limbaugh, and the American Civil Liberties Union.

Rep. Larson’s bill, once amended, will protect the people of Texas from indefinite military detention and extrajudicial assassination without charge or trial. However, we have to get it through Committee first.

It’s time to bring the pressure. One call, and taking 30 seconds to tell your legislator what you think, can make all the difference.

Contact members of the Texas House Federalism and Fiscal Responsibility NOW and tell them, politely but firmly, you will accept nothing less than a YES on HB 149. (Out-of-staters are encouraged to call as well.)

One Man Blocking Arizona Anti-NDAA Bill

Obama NDAA SC One Man Blocking Arizona Anti NDAA Bill

The 2012 NDAA allows any person, including American citizens, to be indefinitely detained without charge or trial, sent to a foreign country to be held, and even executed. Not a single law has eradicated more of our Constitution protections since the Civil War.

Now, Arizona has a chance to defeat it. Arizona has the chance to become the first state in America to enact real protections for its citizens against the NDAAHB 2573, introduced by Rep. Carl Seelpassed Committee 6-2 last month and passed the Rules Committee yesterday.

Yet, one Representative does not see the tide turning to liberty. Representative Andy Tobin is currently blocking HB 2573 from receiving a full House vote. He is willing to kill protection for the people of Arizona and allow the Federal government to trample the rights of his constituents.

We will not allow him to block this bill. The rights of the people of Arizona depend on it.

Show Rep. Tobin the tide is turning in favor of liberty. Urge him, politely but firmly, to bring HB 2573 up for a vote.

If you have to leave a message, ask him to call you back. If you send an email, ask for his reply and tell him to honor his Oath. Forward this crucial message on to friends and family.

Contact Rep. Tobin NOW and urge him to bring HB 2573 to the floor (out-of-staters are highly encouraged to call as well, and we find it most effective if you don’t mention the state you’re calling from.):

Las Vegas Passes Anti-NDAA Resolution

By Breaking News

LasVegasPassesAnti NDAALegislation Las Vegas Passes Anti NDAA Resolution

PANDA Nevada (People Against the National Defense Authorization Act) announces the passage of a Las Vegas City Council Resolution defeating the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act).

Just before noon on Wednesday, the honorable Las Vegas City Council passed a resolution rebuking the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 NDAA, 5-2. The resolution may be read here at: http://tinyurl.com/cyu5bue.  The Resolution will now head to the Clark County Commission; if passed, it would be the first Joint City/County Resolution passed in response to the NDAA.

The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act was overwhelmingly passed by Congress and signed into law by President Barack Obama on December 31, 2011. The 2012 NDAA declares the United States to be a battlefield in the war on terror; and Section 1021 and 1022 authorize the indefinite military detention, without charge or trial, of persons on US soil.

This violates at least 23 Articles of and Amendments to both the US and Nevada Constitutions.

PANDA’s Clark County Chapter Head, Daphne Lee, stated,

“I am so incredibly grateful to the honorable Council members for supporting our efforts. I would especially like to thank Councilman Beers for helping me introduce this resolution to the board, and to Mayor Goodman for her amazing vocal support for the rights of all persons in Nevada. This action will support other cities, counties and states all over the country who seek to take a stand to protect constitutional rights.”

Christopher Corbett, PANDA Nevada State Team Leader, said “This is an important first victory in the fight to restore and protect civil liberties in Nevada. Hopefully this resolution will encourage the rest of Nevada to pass similar resolutions and state legislation.”

There is already action under way to pass similar resolutions in Northern Nevada.  Both the Washoe County Commission and Reno City Council have agreed to look at this issue in the next 30 days.

State Senator Don Gustavson has also submitted a bill to be considered during the 2013 Nevada legislative session.  The Nevada Liberty Preservation Act (SB378), which has 16 bipartisan cosponsors, will lead the way in restoring Constitutional rights to all persons in Nevada.

This movement is just getting started. “We the People” will take back this great nation, one city, County, and State at a time.

“Sin City” To Introduce Anti-NDAA Resolution

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC Sin City to Introduce Anti NDAA Resolution

The fight against indefinite military detention continues. Yesterday, the Las Vegas City Council and the Clark County Commission drafted anti-NDAA legislation to protect the Constitutional rights of their constituents.

City Councilman Bob Beers and County Commissioner Chris Giunchliani put forth the draft.

Afterward, Daphne Lee, the Clark County Chapter Head of PANDA, and Christopher Corbett, Nevada Executive Director of PANDA, expressed their gratitude to Beers and Giunchliani. Corbett said:

“This initiative will help raise awareness of the NDAA and encourage other municipalities and our state legislators to do the same.”

Specifically, sub-sections 1021 and 1022 of the NDAA allow the indefinite arrest, imprisonment, and/or transport to foreign prisons of anyone on U.S. soil whom the federal government declares is a terrorist suspect. In short, the 2012 NDAA enables the government to make any person on U.S. soil a prisoner of war.

Currently making its way to committee in the Nevada State Legislature is a related bill, Don Gustavson’s BDR 728, the Nevada Liberty Preservation Act.

You can help stop this violation of our Constitutional rights. You can help stop the NDAA. Encourage your representative to support this legislation, or thank them for doing so:

Nullification: A State’s Right

By Avg Joe

first amendment47258 Nullification: A States Right

What exactly is nullification? We generally hear the term when a jury decides to nullify a criminal prosecution by acquitting an obviously guilty defendant. Most prominently the O.J. Simpson verdict probably typifies the term. Nullification is now a growing topic in states moving forward legislation for the purpose of nullifying Federal Law and the overreach of Federal Government.

Being the gun packing, Bible clinging extremist that I am, I attended a Day of Resistance Rally to see what it was all about. It was 23 degrees outside with a steady 20mph wind from the northeast, which made for a chilly rally. Snowberms pushed up around the edges of the parking lot provided little protection from the bitter wind, but still, somewhere between 150 and 223 people braved the cold and stood in solidarity for the right to keep and bear arms. The first speaker, the mayor of the town, spoke about nullification. He began by talking about how the states had essentially nullified the national ID law or the federal Real ID law by enacting their own laws. He went on to speak about current State legislation being considered and the principles of state’s rights and the overreach of the Federal Government.

My state representatives recently introduced a law intending to protect citizen’s Second Amendment rights from the Federal Government. The controversy surrounding the legislation (Alaska HB69) was whether State and local law enforcement can arrest and charge Federal agents for enforcing Federal law contrary to State law. Wow, what a mouthful. The liberal left claims that the law is unconstitutional because of the supremacy clause, while the sponsor says they are making a statement and they don’t really care what the federal government thinks.

At this point I wish I had been taught more about the Constitution in high school or was that the plan all along? Is the constitution so complex, and the framework and purpose of our Federal Government so unimportant, that it is not taught in school? Was I not paying attention? Taking the right classes? Why do I know so little about this? I felt liked someone just smacked me with a stupid stick.

While this topic isn’t new, many people do not really understand this concept of nullification. I certainly didn’t. So off to the internet I went and I found some really interesting stuff. First of all, the States individually came together and created the federal government through the Constitution, which was written to LIMIT the power of the Federal Government. Ok, that alone blew my mind. The other main principle that I came away with is that the Federal Government does not really have the power to do what they do. They have basically high jacked principles such as the Commerce Clause to regulate all sorts of things, including firearms.

So how are states nullifying Federal Law and which ones? Probably the best publicized in the non MSM is the NDAA, the National Defense Authorization Act that provides authority to the Federal Government to indefinitely detain U.S citizens and other unconstitutionalities. Then there …read more

Michigan Senate Votes 37-0 To Defeat Obama’s NDAA!

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC Michigan Senate Votes 37 0 to Defeat Obamas NDAA!

In a vote of 37-0 (1 absent), the Michigan Senate joined the growing list of of states and municipalities throughout America in passing their version of the Liberty Preservation Act, released by the Tenth Amendment CenterSenate Bill 94 (SB94) now proceeds to the Michigan State House. State Senator Rick Jones, the bill’s sponsor, and grassroots activists forged the bipartisan alliance against the federal law that applies the law of war and indefinite detention to anyone on U.S. soil.

After the bill’s passage in the Senate, PANDA Michigan’s Dennis Marburger vowed relentless opposition to all federal legislation that subverts the U.S. Constitution, saying:

“The very active and knowledgeable group of Michiganians fighting this egregious Federal overreach will not rest until there is real, tangible and viable state resistance to D.C.’s attempts to deny our rights and threaten our safety – whatever unconstitutional legislation, edict or judicial fiat our government employees use as an excuse.”

The unlawful mandates of the NDAA are sections 1021 and 1022, which allow the arrest, detention, and/or transport to foreign prisons of anyone the federal government “suspects” is a terrorist. Those so imprisoned can be denied trial, access to an attorney, and the ability to even advise someone they have detained.

To enforce NDAA, the federal government will need assistance from the states. If signed into law, SB94 will announce the strong determination of the people of Michigan that the 2012 NDAA is unconstitutional.

SB94 is a companion bill of HB4138, sponsored by State Representative Tom McMillin. A similar bill passed the Michigan House last fall on a vote of 107-0.

Arizona’s Anti-NDAA Bill To Have Hearing On Thursday

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC Arizonas Anti NDAA Bill to Have Hearing on Thursday

This Thursday will be a busy day for anti-NDAA activists in several states. Arizona, along with Washington state and Maryland, will have a hearing to decide the fate of a bill that seeks to stop the 2012 NDAA’s provisions that allow for the indefinite detainment of U.S. citizens.

Arizona’s legislationH.B. 2573, is written to prohibit any state agency from providing “material support or participate in any way with the implementation of Sections 1021 and 1022 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.”

It also requires the Director of the Department of Public Safety or a county sheriff to report to the governor and state legislature if agents of the federal government attempt to work with their agencies to enact the indefinite detention provisions.

Supporters of this legislation are encouraged to call and email all committee members to urge them to vote “YES” on H.B. 2573 before the hearing so that it moves on to the State House floor.

Out-of-state supporters are urged to contact members of the committee, without mentioning the state they are calling or emailing from, as we find that has more of an impact.

In-state supporters can also attend the hearing in person, which will start at 8 a.m. on Feb. 21 at the state capitol in Room HHR 4.

Call. Email. Testify.

Victory! Indiana, South Carolina Anti-NDAA Bills Fly Through Committee

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC Victory! Indiana, South Carolina Anti NDAA Bills fly through committee

Yesterday, Feb. 13, “anti-NDAAlegislation passed senate committees in both Indiana and South Carolina.

In Indiana, S.B. 400 was championed by Sen. Jim Banks and Elkhart County Sheriff Bradley Rodgers, who both spoke before the Corrections and Criminal Law Committee hearing in support of the bill.

Sen. Banks pointed out the sections of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 that violated the U.S. Constitution, specifically Sections 1021 and 1022 that allow for the indefinite detainment of American citizens without due process.

PANDA Indiana Team Leader James Kerner praised Sen. Banks’s speech, saying, “I suggest the ACLU, Occupy movement, Tea Party movement, and Oath Keepers throw their full support behind Sen. Banks. He should be made a household name like Ron Paul.”

Sheriff Rogers spoke of the oath he took to uphold the Constitution and asked if he would be prohibited from taking action if federal agents illegally kidnapped citizens in his district.

The committee’s answer: “No.” The bill passed unanimously, 8-0.

Likewise in South Carolina, word comes from the Tenth Amendment Center that legislation seeking to nullify the “indefinite detention” provisions of the 2012 NDAA was approved by the state Senate Judiciary Committee, 14-6.

The bill was pre-filed last fall by Sen. Tom Davis and called Sections 1021 and 1022 of the 2012 NDAA “a direct threat to the liberty, security, and well-being of the people of South Carolina.”

The next step for the bills in each state is to reach the floors of their respective senates for a vote.

Thanks to organizations such as the Tenth Amendment Center, American Civil Liberties UnionBill of Rights Defense Committee and tireless grassroots activists everywhere, successes for defeating the 2012 NDAA are starting to happen all across the country.

States Join The Fight To Nullify Indefinite Detention Under NDAA

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC States Join the Fight to Nullify Indefinite Detention Under NDAA

President Barack Obama signed the latest National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law on January 2, renewing the power to apprehend and detain Americans indefinitely granted in the previous year’s version.

In order to protect their citizens from being grabbed and imprisoned under the provisions of the NDAA, many state lawmakers are standing up to the federal government, proposing resolutions nullifying this unconstitutional power at the state borders.

Nullification is a concept of constitutional law recognizing the right of each state to nullify, or invalidate, any federal measure that exceeds the few and defined powers allowed the federal government as enumerated in the U.S. Constitution.

Nullification exists as a right of the states because the sovereign states formed the union, and as creators of the compact, they hold ultimate authority as to the limits of the power of the central government to enact laws that are applicable to the states and the citizens thereof.

As President Obama continues accumulating all legislative, executive, and judicial power, the need for nullification is urgent, and liberty-minded citizens are encouraged to see state legislators boldly asserting their right to restrain the federal government through application of that very powerful and very constitutional principle.

Colorado Anti-NDAA Bill Heads To Committee

By Breaking News

PANDASealBlueBlack Colorado Anti NDAA Bill Heads to Committee

Colorado’s “anti-NDAAlegislation was first introduced and assigned to the House State, Military, and Veteran Affairs Committee last month. Now, on Feb. 13, the bill will reach its first hearing.

Colorado’s bill is another in a string of similar bills in other states introduced this legislative session to combat and stop certain provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

Similar to Washington State’s legislationColorado’s version focuses on the problems with Section 1021 of the 2012 NDAA that purportedly authorizes the inclusion of U.S. citizens in its definition of “covered persons,” i.e. suspected terrorists, who can be indefinitely detained by the military without charge or trial.

The bill declares Colorado is not a “battlefield” subject to the “laws of war” and prohibits the detention, capture, or use of deadly force against any person in Colorado without charge or trial.

While the committee is the notorious place where bills go to die, lobbying action from the American Civil Liberties Union is giving the legislation a fighting chance. It’s reported that the bill appears to have enough votes to get it out of committee.

Supporters of the bill are urged to contact members of the committee to ensure it passes onto the floor. (Out-of-state supporters are also urged to contact members of the committee, without mentioning the state they are calling/emailing from.)

Constable And Activists Urge City Council To Pass Anti-NDAA Ordinance

By Breaking News

On Monday, January 28, 2013, a group of about 30 individuals came out to support the introduction of the Liberty Preservation Ordinance to the Sunbury, PA City Council and Mayor. Attendees included members of the People Against the NDAA, American Civil Liberties Union, Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, Oathkeepers, and the Susquehanna Valley Liberty Alliance.

Also in attendance was State Constable Ed Quiggle, Jr., the Constable for Sunbury’s 9th Ward, who signed a similar resolution for his ward last year. Constable Quiggle introduced the ordinance to the city council speaking in favor of its passage and reminded the councilmembers of their oath to support and defend the U.S. and Pennsylvania Constitutions.

Specifically, the ordinance would require non-cooperation with the indefinite detention provisions of the 2012 NDAA from all of the city’s law enforcement agencies, including the Sunbury Police Department and the Offices of Constable for the various wards of Sunbury. It would also ask that they interpose to stop the indefinite detention of U.S. citizens by the federal government within the city.

The councilmembers indicated they would need extra time to digest the information given. It is expected that the ordinance will be placed on the table for a vote at the next City Council meeting on Monday, February 11, 2013.

Mayor David Persing also said he needed to do more research to verify what the presenters told them; but if true, he couldn’t imagine anyone on the City Council voting against the Liberty Preservation Ordinance.

P.A.N.D.A. Pennsylvania, the Sunbury P.A.N.D.A. Chapter, and the Susquehanna Valley Liberty Alliance are encouraging people to once again come out to the City Council meeting on February 11th and support the Liberty Preservation Ordinance.

The meeting on the 11th begins at 6:15pm and is held in the Sunbury Municipal Building, 2nd floor, 225 Market Street, Sunbury, Pa. 17801.

Wyoming To Battle NDAA Indefinite Detention

By Breaking News

Obama NDAA SC Wyoming to Battle NDAA indefinite detention

PANDA Wyoming announces the introduction of HB 114, the Wyoming Liberty Preservation Act, and issues a call to action to ensure it passes committee.

On December 31st, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, containing provisions which authorized the indefinite detention, extraordinary rendition (and assassination) of anyone around the world without charge or trial. This law marked one of the darkest eras in American history, declaring the United States a battlefield and legally subject to the laws of war.

PANDA (People Against the NDAA) has been fighting back. Founded in January 2012, PANDA has grown to be the largest organization in the nation fighting indefinite detention and the NDAA. Since the launch of Operation Homeland Liberty, PANDA has started state teams in almost 25 states, and reaches thousands daily with the message of liberty.

Now, in the second shot (after BDR 728 in Nevada) to be fired across the Federal government’s bow, HB 114 has been introduced in Wyoming. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Kendell Kroeker and co-sponsored by Rep. David Miller, Rep. Hans Hunt, and Sen. Cale Case, will protect the liberty of the citizens of Wyoming by prohibiting the unconstitutional provisions of the 2012 NDAA to be enforced here.

“The Constitution of the United States has the Bill of Rights for a reason,” said Representative Kroeker, “I take an oath to support, obey, and defend the Constitution and I take that seriously.  When the federal government passes legislation that violates the constitution, it is our duty as a state to make sure we protect the rights of our citizens.”

Now, in order to protect the rights of the citizens of Wyoming, we must take swift action. On Tuesday, January 29, 2013, the Wyoming Liberty Preservation Act will be voted on in the House Transportation, Highways, and Military Affairs committee. There are however, Representatives on that committee who do not understand the seriousness of this issue and the importance of securing our inalienable rights.

Call these legislators immediately and demand they honor their oath, and stand up for the rights of all Wyoming citizens. Demand these representatives pass the Wyoming Liberty Preservation Act:

Rep. David Zwonitzer:  (307) 630-1955

Rep. Rita Campbell:  (307) 850-7364

Rep. Robert McKim:  (307) 248-2564

Citizens To Demand Pennsylvania Town Take Action On NDAA

By Breaking News

PANDASealBlueBlack Citizens to Demand Pennsylvania Town Take Action on NDAA

On Monday, January 28th, citizens, including members from groups such as the Susquehanna Valley Liberty Alliance, the Sunbury chapter of PANDA (People Against the NDAA), Oath Keepers, and the ACLU, along with the Constable of Sunbury’s 9th Ward will be presenting the Sunbury City Council and Mayor with an ordinance to uphold the Bill of Rights and interpose against the unconstitutional indefinite detention provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012, also known as NDAA.

In March 2012, Pennsylvania State Constable Ed Quiggle, Jr., the elected Constable for Sunbury’s 9th Ward, signed a resolution opposing, and requiring non-cooperation with enforcement of, the NDAA and PATRIOT Act. Also in Pennsylvania, two counties, Fulton County and Elk County, have signed legislation opposing the indefinite detention provisions of the NDAA.

After signing his resolution, Constable Quiggle delivered copies of the resolution to the City Council and urged them to act on NDAA, but no action was taken by the City Council. Sunbury Councilmen Eister and Troup have been asked if they would consider such legislation during appearances on local radio shows. Both councilmen have stated they would consider supporting such legislation. During a recent appearance on WKOK, Sunbury Mayor David Persing said he didn’t know enough about the NDAA and asked for more information. So far, Councilman Joe Bartello is the only member of the council to show strong support for passing an ordinance to oppose the NDAA.

Outside of Pennsylvania states such as Virginia and Utah have passed legislation expressing opposition to the the NDAA’s indefinite detention provisions, and many more states are currently considering similar legislation. States such as Arizona and Rhode Island are among some of the states whose legislatures had passed legislation against NDAA during last year’s sessions, but were not fully passed and enacted. Anti-NDAA legislation is expected to be introduced in Pennsylvania’s General Assembly during the current legislative session. Cities, counties, and even Sheriffs across the country have taken action to interpose against the unconstitutional provisions of the NDAA.

The Susquehanna Valley Liberty Alliance and the Sunbury chapter of PANDA is urging all citizens to come to the City Council meeting on Monday the 28th at 6pm and urge the council to pass the proposed ordinance as soon as possible. They are also urging citizens to contact the members of the City Council and the Mayor to ask for their support of the proposed ordinance.

Video: Three Good Reasons Americans Need Their Guns

By Bobby Powell

SOURCE: The Truth Is Viral

We live in a violent world.

American citizens are much more likely to be killed by lightning than by international terrorism. That’s a given; but the odds of being killed in a violent crime increase dramatically here at home, among our shopping malls and movie theaters. Mass shootings like the ones in Newtown and Aurora (isn’t it sad that we now know these beautiful small towns by a singular name, forever equated with unparalleled tragedy?) are horrific for sure; but nobody says anything about the fact that there is a Newtown-type body count on the streets of Chicago every single weekend, or that more people were murdered in that city last year than the total number of soldiers and Marines who died in Afghanistan during the same time period. Nearly all of the victims in Chicago were killed with handguns.

Even in the tranquil woods of Northern Michigan, there is need to be concerned for one’s personal safety (this writer’s in particular, as I have been the target of numerous death threats over the internet and over my office telephone because of my support for conservative commentator Michelle Malkin and the 2nd Amendment.)

Malkin had been the target of thug rapper “The Game” and hundreds of his followers on Twitter whose vile epithets and threats of rape and murder were just too much for this writer to remain silent. The Game had tweeted that Malkin and FOX News should be boycotted. Fair enough. I called for the same in reference to his album “Jesus Piece” and was suddenly “Malkined.”

Hundreds of The Game’s fans began tweeting obscenities, and there were a few death threats thrown in as well; but what really drew my attention was one Twit’s threat to rape my wife, who is battling Stage IV Colo-rectal and Liver cancer. These threats have been reported to the proper authorities, and I am anxiously awaiting the results of their investigation.

Since I can’t have a police officer stationed outside my house 24/7, and any help from 911 would most likely arrive too late, I have once again applied for a concealed pistol license (CPL) so that I can protect my family wherever I go without drawing stares and freaking people out with the .40 caliber cannon I carry.

However, since Michigan is an Open Carry state, I suppose I will have to suffer the occasional disapproving glance until I go before the gun board next month. That’s what law-abiding citizens do; they apply for a permit if they wish to carry a concealed weapon. How many criminals does the anti-gun lobby expect will do the same?

But the Second Amendment is not about personal protection or hunting. The Founders were wise enough to enshrine our Natural Rights in the Constitution. They knew that there would always be evil men who would do anything to gain absolute power, and they wanted to give their posterity the means to defend themselves from Tyrants who would wield that power like a club given the opportunity.

Nate Wessler, an attorney on the ACLU’s Targeted Assassinations team, told this writer after the President had ordered the deaths of American citizens Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan without so much as charging them with a crime that Obama was now “Judge, jury, and executioner.” Writing as Publius in Federalist Paper #47, James Madison proclaimed “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands… may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

Taken together, the truthful statements of these two men define the new paradigm in the United States: a once proud Constitutional Republic where justice and the rule of law reigned supreme, but which has devolved into a state where the President can now order the extrajudicial killing of an American citizen in secret, behind closed doors.

The Republic has fallen, and a Tyranny now stands in its place. It is only a matter of time before the evils that have been visited upon the innocent peoples of the Middle East through Obama’s support of al-Qaeda are turned inward, against the American citizenry at large.

This video and the accompanying article are not the ravings of a paranoid gun nut. Dozens of states have told the federal government that they will not allow the indefinite detention of their citizens in accordance with the NDAA. Michigan, my state, is the latest among them.

On December 5th of 2012, the Michigan House of Representatives voted 107-0 to nullify that treasonous federal legislation. Sheriffs from all over the country are standing up, mailing letters to the President and Vice-president informing them, literally, that they will not comply with new gun legislation that violates the 2nd Amendment, quite literally saying “over our dead bodies.”

Seriously people, your local elected representatives (don’t count on anyone in Washington for help) are beginning to realize that this country is about to fundamentally change; and they are taking steps to protect the citizens in their state, in their county, and in their town. Fears of a new American Revolution abound; and if history is any indication, we are on the very brink of one.
