Comic-Con: The X-Men Reunited

At the start of this afternoon’s Fox panel at San Diego Comic-Con, The Wolverine director James Mangold started things off with a bit of a dig at that other solo Wolverine movie — “It ended up with a lot of other mutants in it as well,” he joked.

Well, the funny thing is, this panel also ended up with a lot of other mutants! As in, practically the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, and Omar Sy. Director Bryan Singer and producers Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Hutch Parker were also in attendance.

Comic-Con: Days of Future Past Plans

20th Century Fox has been coy about what sort of presence the X-Men franchise will have at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con. The Hollywood Reporter recently confirmed that The Wolverine will be there at Saturday’s Fox presentation, and now a new report claims that, as suspected, X-Men: Days of Future Past will be the panel’s “secret” film.

According to Vulture, “the Bryan Singer–helmed film will be sending over a dozen cast members to San Diego to tease the ambitious sequel.” We already know Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Peter Dinklage will already be at Comic-Con for, respectively, The Wolverine, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, True Blood, The Following, and Game of Thrones. So that leaves the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, and Lucas Till, who Bryan Singer revealed via Twitter is reprising his First Class role of Havok (see the pic Singer tweeted below).

Halle Berry’s Baby Bump Upstaged By Solange Knowles? (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Halle Berry joined designer Michael Kors on Saturday night to celebrate her efforts with the United Nations World Food Programme to help fight world hunger. Her baby bump made an appearance (ICYMI, the actress is pregnant with fiancé Olivier Martinez‘s baby), and was joined by other fabulous ladies.

Hilary Rhoda, Irina Shayk, Erin Heatherton and more models hit the red carpet wearing Michael Kors (naturellement). But it was Solange Knowles who really blew us away in a black blazer and sky-blue pants. In fact, Beyoncé’s little sister may have upstaged Berry’s baby bump (gasp!).

Of course, Halle Berry looked jaw-droppingly gorgeous in her plunging LBD that hit the style trifecta, showing off her décolletage, hugging that burgeoning bump and highlighting her toned legs at the same time. But Solange, whose covered-up jacket and pants was the complete opposite of sexy Halle, stole the style show. Her tailored Oxford shirt and blazer were conservative and prim, but her cloud-adorned pants added a touch of whimsy and her sky-high heels added just the right amount of sex appeal.

Roberto Cavalli Shares Candid Thoughts on Karl Lagerfeld

Eat Drink Man Woman

When he’s in the city where he first made it big, Michael Kors tends not to throw fancy dinner parties. “At the beach, certainly. But in New York, it’s work, work, work,” the designer told Style.com on Saturday night, at an intimate sit-down he was hosting at the Four Seasons’ Grill Room for the likes of Hilary Rhoda and Mario Testino. There was a bit of work involved, but not of the usual sort. The occasion was the launch of a new partnership between Michael Kors and the UN’s World Food Programme, for which the label has created two new styles of its best-selling Runway watch; for each one sold, 100 meals go to hungry children.

Halle Berry, who’s helping promote the cause, made her first outing since the announcement (well, TMZ discovery, to be precise) that she’s got a second child on the way. Of Kors, she said, “He’s all about walking the walk.” The two will be hitting the ground together at some point for a site visit, probably in Africa, the actress said, but haven’t decided where and when. “I’m pregnant, so I can’t go to places where I have to get a lot of vaccines.”

For both charity-minded stars, the initiative represents a global expansion of their philanthropic efforts. (Kors has been working with God’s Love We Deliver, a New York organization that provides meals to the ill, for about two decades.) “The World Food Programme has no borders,” Kors pointed out. “Regardless of war, drought—they have the trucks, the planes, the people on the ground, and the access to the food.”

An impressive operation, to be sure, and one that deals with problems that can seem worlds away from soigné evenings like this one, where the major dilemma was the address mix-up that caused some models to arrive a few minutes late. Confessed Constance Jablonski, “We went to the wrong Four Seasons!”

‘The Call’: Halle Berry’s Latest Film Debuts At Number Two

By The Huffington Post News Editors

By Lisa Richwine and Chris Michaud
March 17 (Reuters) – Walt Disney Co’s “Oz the Great and Powerful” worked more box office magic in its second weekend, following up its strong debut a week earlier with $42.2 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales.
The “Wizard of Oz” prequel starring James Franco topped a stronger-than-expected performance from “The Call,” a new thriller about a 911 operator played by Halle Berry who tries to save a kidnapped teenager. “The Call” earned $17.1 million from Friday through Sunday, according to studio estimates.
“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” a new comedy featuring Steve Carrell and Jim Carrey as dueling Las Vegas magicians, finished the weekend in third place. It conjured up $10.3 million at North American (U.S. and Canadian) theaters – several million less than expected.
Domestic ticket sales for the big-budget, effects-filled “Oz” dropped 47 percent from its opening weekend, according to the box office division of Hollywood.com. Movies typically see a 40 percent to 60 percent decline in their second weekend of release.
“Oz” added $46.6 million over the weekend from international markets. Its global total after 10 days reached $282 million, a strong start for a movie that cost $200 million to make plus up to $100 million more to market.
“The Call” handily beat pre-weekend forecasts of a debut of around $10 million. The $15 million production overperformed on strong word-of-mouth, showing itself to be “a real crowd-pleaser,” said Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Corp’s Sony Pictures studio, which acquired the film from Troika Pictures.
“People like this film a lot, and it’s going to be a big success for us,” Bruer said, adding that “the film could end up doing anywhere from $40 million to $50 million, which would be huge.”
Burt Wonderstone,” meanwhile, fell short of some pre-weekend forecasts, which had pegged the debut at $12 million to $15 million. The film had a modest budget of about $30 million, according to Warner Bros. …read more

Oz Remains Great and Powerful at Box Office

Sam Raimi’s prequel Oz the Great and Powerful remained the No. 1 movie in North America for the second weekend in a row. Its global total to date is an estimated $281.8 million.

Debuting in second place was the Halle Berry thriller The Call, while the star-studded comedy The Incredible Burt Wonderstone wasn’t magical in its meek third place opening.

McAvoy Claims Nightcrawler Back For Next X-Men

Actor James McAvoy let it slip that X2: X-Men United’s Alan Cumming will reprise his role as Nighcrawler in the upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.

McAvoy unwittingly made the revelation during a chat with Heat Radio. “You got me,

Nicholas Hoult will be back, and he’s just blossoming massively over

,” said McAvoy. “Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Alan Cumming, Peter Dinklage I hear mentioned – I don’t know if that’s happening – ‘Huge’ Jackman is coming by, he’s massive, 7’5″ and muscly.”

It should be noted, however, that perhaps McAvoy is incorrect and was simply rattling off names. After all, he did admit the other day that he still hasn’t even read the script for the movie. We hope, though, that McAvoy’s right since we’d love to see Kurt Wagner back on the big screen.

Halle Berry Confirmed for Days of Future Past

HitFix has the news, with Berry telling the site, “I love Storm and I’m happy I get to be a part of it this time.” Deadline is also confirming the casting this morning.

Halle Berry in Talks for Days of Future Past

It sounds like we can cautiously add Halle Berry to the list of returning X-stars in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, Indie Wire says the actress will “most likely” be reprising her role as Storm in the upcoming comic book sequel — “practically 90 percent sure,” the report says. Negotiations are underway.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence told E! Online that her makeup for Mystique will be getting an upgrade for the new film. Instead of full body paint, which reportedly caused her severe skin irritation on the set of First Class, she’ll be strapping on a body suit. “It will be from neck down so it will cut out time and the blisters,” she said.

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Megastar Jennifer Aniston arrived at the Oscars tonight (Feb. 24) and looked absolutely glowing in a strapless red gown. Fiance Justin Theroux walked hand in hand with his leading lady, who is also a presenter at tonight’s awards ceremony.

Aniston’s “Wanderlust” co-star Paul Rudd is also a presenter, as are Salma Hayek, Melissa McCarthy, Liam Neeson, John Travolta, Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg and Ted, and most of the cast of “The Avengers.”

Though neither Jen nor Justin is nominated for an award tonight, they have their hands full with their own big day.
