Comic-Con: The X-Men Reunited

At the start of this afternoon’s Fox panel at San Diego Comic-Con, The Wolverine director James Mangold started things off with a bit of a dig at that other solo Wolverine movie — “It ended up with a lot of other mutants in it as well,” he joked.

Well, the funny thing is, this panel also ended up with a lot of other mutants! As in, practically the entire cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, and Omar Sy. Director Bryan Singer and producers Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Hutch Parker were also in attendance.

Blomkamp's New Film Elysium Looks Great

Sony previewed the new trailer as well as 10 minutes of footage from their upcoming sci-fi thriller Elysium for IGN and other select members of the press Monday, with director Neill Blomkamp, producer Simon Kinberg and stars Matt Damon (via satellite from Germany) and Sharlto Copley in attendance. The trailer will debut online tomorrow.

Kasdan, Kinberg Talk New Star Wars Movies

IGN attended last night’s Final Draft Big Break screenwriting awards, where the screenwriting program giant also honored writer-director Lawrence Kasdan with their hall of fame award. Several other notable Hollywood writers showed up at the event to pay tribute to Kasdan, including John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven), Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood), and Simon Kinberg, the latter of whom is working with Kasdan as a writer/producer/consultant on the new Star Wars trilogy as well as some of the standalone Star Wars movies that are in the works.

We were able to carve out a few minutes apiece with Kasdan and Kinberg to talk about Star Wars: Episode VII, which they are consulting on, as well as their overall experience so far being part of these new Star Wars movies. (And, no, they didn’t spill all the beans on them! Let’s stay realistic here, folks.)
