The Huffington Post has perfected the smear technique of expressing shock and anger at things that conservatives say which make complete sense and are factually based. “Hannity’s Awful Reaction To Obama’s Trayvon Martin Comments” was the headline over Fox News host Sean Hannity’s reaction to President Obama comparing himself to Trayvon Martin. Hannity said he wasn’t sure how to interpret Obama’s remarks because “he was part of the Choom Gang and he smoked pot and he did a little blow” and “we know that Trayvon had been smoking pot that night.”
Obama, of course, was not deliberately comparing himself to Martin because of their common interest in smoking dope. But the comparison by Hannity was not unreasonable, since Obama was in fact a heavy dope smoker, a member of what his biographer David Maraniss called the Choom Gang; and Martin was smoking dope before he was killed by George Zimmerman following a violent confrontation. Obama had also admitted doing cocaine, or “blow.”
It was an opportunity for Obama to say something important, such as that young blacks should avoid the drugs that got Martin into trouble, and that black parents should strive to keep their children out of trouble. Instead, Obama harped on racism.
The alleged “awful reaction” of Hannity would only be awful if Hannity had said something about Obama and Martin that was not true. But it is true and worthy of comment because of the effect that marijuana may have had on Martin the night he was killed. The subject came up during the Zimmerman trial.
The influence of marijuana in the Martin-Zimmerman confrontation has taken on more significance in the wake of the exchange that CNN’s Piers Morgan had with Martin’s friend, Rachel Jeantel:
Morgan: What about drugs?
Jeantel: Drugs. OK, weed, marijuana. In my area, we say weed. My area, we—for Trayvon, I can explain one thing, weed don’t do make him go crazy, it just make him go hungry.
Morgan: But he did—
(Laughter)
Jeantel: Like it’s the best thing I can say. It made him hungry.
Morgan: Did he take a lot of weed?
Jeantel: No.
Morgan: How much would you say?
Jeantel: Like twice a week.
Morgan: Twice a week?
Jeantel: Yes.
Morgan: Is that normal for teenagers in your community?
Jeantel: Yes. Real normal.
Writing in The New York Times on July 11 under the headline “Reefer Madness, an Unfortunate Redux,” a professor named Carl L. Hart ridiculed the idea that Trayvon Martin was aggressive and paranoid from smoking marijuana, and that his marijuana use led him to attack George Zimmerman. Hart, an associate professor of psychology at Columbia University, claimed there wasn’t enough dope in Martin’s system to affect his behavior.
But marijuana can have lasting effects on the brain, depending on how much he had been smoking and for how long. During the trial, Shiping Bao, the medical examiner who autopsied Trayvon Martin, testified that marijuana “could have” altered Martin’s mind and body the night he died.

One Boston Massacre terrorist is dead, under suspicious circumstances. We saw the second terrorist—Dzhokhar Tsarnaev—literally shut down an entire metropolitan area for over twenty-four hours. And now he’s under lock and key, whisked away from the public eye.
America saw what martial law looked like as light-armored tanks roamed the streets and hundreds of special forces conducted a house-to-house search, looking for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, apparently a punk kid.
Except martial law was never declared. Except America wondered: if one nineteen-year-old kid could shut down an entire metropolitan area, what could a small contingent of al-Qaeda jihadis do? Was this the future of America under a President who declared in 2008 that he would make peace with the Muslim world?
What exactly is going on? Is there some type of cover-up? Why was the initial suspect (the Saudi national Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi’s) apartment searched? Why was he declared a “person of interest,” then suddenly widely reported to be being deported, to which ICE stated the information was “categorically false.” Janet Napolitano, in a fiery exchange during congressional hearings, refused to answer whether the information was true or not.
But according to a Congressional Source, the information is in fact categorically true—that Alharbi is in fact linked to the Boston terrorist attack.
It was reported on April 18 according to an FBI source that the Obama administration had classified the specifics of the deportation. It was also reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had classified the matter under section 212 3B, “Security and related grounds/Terrorist activities.”
We know, according to radical Islamist expert Walid Shoebat, that Alharbi has at least a dozen members of his clan connected to al-Qaeda, including members behind held at Gitmo.

An expert on terrorism says the Saudi national who was the original “person of interest” in connection with Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing is going to be deported from the U.S. next week.
The foreign student from Revere, Mass., is identified as 20-year-old Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi.
“I just learned from my own sources that he is now going to be deported on national security grounds next Tuesday, which is very unusual,” Steve Emerson of the Investigative Project on Terrorism told Sean Hannity of Fox News Wednesday night.
The Reuters news agency reported President Barack Obama met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal on Wednesday, noting “the meeting was not on Obama’s public schedule.”
After that meeting was mentioned, Emerson told Hannity, “That’s very interesting because this is the way things are done with Saudi Arabia. You don’t arrest their citizens. You deport them, because they don’t want them to be embarrassed and that’s the way we appease them.”

It’s very unlikely that the traditional media we know today at all resembles the entity our founding fathers wished to protect in their day.
It’s not even very likely that it resembles the group admired by Edmund Burke when he is said to have coined the term “the fourth estate” in reference to the press in the middle of the 19th century.
Based on their writings and the documents they co-authored, our founding fathers wished to preserve a free press for the purpose of preserving a free people. The current remnant of a once-free press is now simply an extension and arm of the government, which means that they aren’t really a “free press” at all. They have come to be, knowingly or not, for the state, or the current ultimate powers of the U.S. federal government.
To put Burke’s term into context, it’s necessary to look at the history of medieval “estates of the realm,” which formally recognized the three “estates” of the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners. Burke and Thomas Carlyle, who popularized the term “the fourth estate,” recognized the press as a group of distinction that played an important role in lending a democratic voice to the people of a true republic. It now seems, unfortunately, that those days are gone and that once again, only three estates are represented, with the press, or media, being encompassed by the estate of the nobility. In more modern and recognizable terms, those in our government and “media” are often referred to as “the elite,” even if only in terms that denote the self-perception of many in this estate.
Sean Hannity declared in 2008 that “the media is dead”; but in a historical sense, it was already dying long before then.
Ever since Cronkite’s field coverage of the Vietnam War, the mainstream media has continued on a downward spiral. The difference between the journalists of that era and the so-called “journalists” of today is that the inquiring public news consumers’ sense of objectiveness and sincerity from these anchors has now been decimated. Many journalists of the recent past at least seemed sincere in their dedication to reporting truth. Today, the messages of the media mainstream are blatantly and admittedly laden with hearsay, inaccuracy, half-truths, and whole lies.
Still, Hannity seems to be on to something, as the media has continually sunk to new lows over the course of the last five years. It can be seen in Newsweek’s post-print fake cover honoring Obama’s second inauguration as “The Second Coming,” penned by Evan Thomas, who once described Obama on MSNBC as “sort of like God” in being above the traditional political fray. We should also remember CBS Political Director John Dickerson’s plea in a January 2012 Obama-Biden ad to “Go for the Throat! Why if he wants to transform American politics, Obama must declare war on the Republican Party”… and declare and wage he has.

This unequaled display of rudeness by US Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) on the Sean Hannity show wasn’t just bad manners.
He’s a Muslim, and citing his religion is instructive for this reason: his pugilistic attitude is expected when one Muslim brother feels he’s defending another Muslim brother, in this case Obama.
While the president says he’s a Christian, many American Black Muslims still see him as a brother Muslim and zealously defend him.
One American Black Muslim proudly told me he believes Obama secretly uses a prayer rug in the privacy of the Oval Office.
This view isn’t unique.
Ellison’s performance was light years beyond normal Obama frenzy because there was a crusading religious dimension to it.
In the Congressman’s mind, Hannity was an unbeliever unfit to utter even a single word against a brother Muslim (Obama).
Viewers can’t help but note the jihadi swagger on full display in this episode. Ellison gleefully interrupted the host at every juncture in the interview, if it can be called one.
Representative Ellison has inadvertently answered what the president’s true faith is in many skeptical minds.
This wasn’t yet another Black Obama supporter genuflecting before his political image. This was a Muslim defending a brother Muslim by literally taking over the Sean Hannity show!
I’ve studied the Black experience within Islam my entire adult life and know when someone is waving his verbal scimitar (rhetorical sword) around at an unbeliever.
How sad the Congressman doesn’t see himself as an American somewhere within this inflamed identity displayed on Fox News.
While he will get high fives at radical mosques, he actually harmed the American Muslim community by acting more like an Al Qaeda mouthpiece than a Congressman!

Sean Hannity‘s cable television showdown this week with a Democratic congressman has become more than just a verbal schoolyard brawl. It’s a fundraising opportunity.
Democratic and Republican advocates are using Tuesday’s Fox News Channel appearance by Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison to raise money, even as the newly minted feud continues. Hannity said he planned to continue a discussion about Ellison’s career on his show Friday.
Ellison opened his appearance on Tuesday’s show by calling Hannity “the worst excuse for a journalist that I’ve ever seen,” and their discussion descended from there. Hannity, who accused the congressman of “ranting,” ended the gripping back-and-forth after eight minutes because “our audience deserves better.”
The congressman appeared upset by a Hannity commentary just before his appearance that ridiculed President Barack Obama‘s speeches about fiscal negotiations.
Video clips of the confrontation spread online, and it swiftly became a partisan talking point. Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin tweeted that Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, waged a “verbal jihad,” or holy war, against Hannity. Martin Bashir, on his liberal MSNBC talk show, called the appearance “the utter evisceration of Sean Hannity on his own broadcast.”
The lobbying group Progressive Change Campaign Committee sent out a solicitation to its supporters, urging them each to donate $3 to Ellison’s campaign account or send him a thank you note. By Friday afternoon, the solicitation had raised $21,600, co-founder Adam Green said, with an additional $3,000 for a foundation supporting liberal congressional candidates.
Another liberal group, Democracy For America, also sent out an email to its supporters seeking donations in Ellison’s name, spokesman T. Neil Sroka said.
“If you attack a hero of our movement, we’re going to come back even stronger,” Sroka said.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Republican Party posted a clip of the appearance on its website and asked for contributions. According to the website, nearly $47,000 of a fundraising goal of $50,000 had been pledged.
Hannity returned to the issue on his show Wednesday and Thursday, referring to an “epic meltdown” by the “incoherent congressman.” A “Hannity” report Thursday explored Ellison’s ties to polarizing personalities such as Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan.
