Oscars Backstage 2013: The 10 Best Things Said Offscreen At The Academy Awards (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

This year’s Academy Awards may have been full of zingers and inappropriate Seth MacFarlane jokes, but some of the best banter took place backstage in the interview room where all the winners were harassed by a sea of reporters.

Questions ranged from the boring (“How does it feel to be a winner?”) to the completely off-topic (“Are you able to attend this teeny-tiny press event in Timbuktu next week?”) to the provocative (“Did you like the Boob song?”) to the very direct (“Are you impressed with yourself?”)

With the winners riding a wave of excitement, shock and alcohol, the very best things said at the Oscars were most likely not aired on television. Herewith are the top quotes of the night from behind the scenes:

Andy Griffith, who died on July 3, 2012 at the age of 86, wasn’t included as a part of the televised memoriam.

Academy Awards Winners List 2013: Winners From The 85th Annual Oscars

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Ben Affleck, Anne Hathaway, Daniel Day-Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Bradley Cooper and more stars celebrated Hollywood’s biggest night on Feb. 24 at the Oscars. (An Academy Awards winners list for 2013 can be found below.)

Hosted by Seth MacFarlane (“Ted”), the 85th annual Academy Awards included a wide array of box office hits. For the first time ever, the Best Picture category included six films with grosses over $100 million, including “Argo,” “Django Unchained,” “Les Miserables,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” “Zero Dark Thirty,” another Best Picture nominee, was in striking distance of nine figures as well. (The other Best Picture nominees, “Amour” and “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” were limited releases.)

The history making didn’t end there. The Oscars 2013 ceremony also included opportunities for Day-Lewis and Affleck to enter the record books. Day-Lewis, nominated for “Lincoln,” won his third Best Actor Oscar, an Academy Awards record. Affleck, meanwhile, became only the fourth director in the 85-year history of the Academy Awards to see his film win Best Picture without a subsequent nomination for Best Director. (The last time this happened was at the 1990 ceremony when “Driving Miss Daisy” won.)

DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten showed up to the singer’s party this year, as did supermodels Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum.

A look at those boldface names – and all the other industry darlings who showed up to party – here in the gallery.

Robin Roberts’ Oscars 2013 Red Carpet Appearance Is Stunning Surprise (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Robin Roberts made a triumphant return to the Oscars on Sunday, hitting the red carpet in a stunning blue velvet dress by Marc Bouwer.

Roberts, who just days ago resumed her “Good Morning America” hosting duties after a prolonged medical leave, took a private jet to Los Angeles so that her still-fragile immune system would not be compromised. She had made it a personal goal of hers to be able to host the Oscar pre-show for ABC, since it was at the 2012 Oscars that she began feeling signs of fatigue. She would soon discover that she needed a bone marrow transplant.

Seth MacFarlane Academy Awards: Actor Hosts The 2013 Oscars

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Seth MacFarlane joins the ranks of Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, and Frank Sinatra Sunday evening as he hosts the Academy Awards.

Certainly Billy Crystal, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope are the three that stand out as the paragons of class and effectiveness and comedic balance in the history of the Oscars,” MacFarlane told the AP last week. “I’m going to go out there and certainly be mindful that that’s what works but also try and inject some of what I do into the mix and hopefully come out with something that is fresh and surprising and has an edge but doesn’t completely thumb its nose at the Oscars.”

MacFarlane was seen as a risky choice by some for his boundary-pushing sense of humor.

Christoph Waltz Oscar: Best Supporting Actor At Academy Awards Announced

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor at the 85th annual Academy Awards, besting four other former Oscar winners.

Waltz’s Oscar win capped off one of the more competitive races in Academy Awards history.

Waltz, who plays a German bounty hunter in Quentin Tarantino’s Spaghetti Western homage, had previously won Best Supporting Actor awards from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (Golden Globes) and BAFTA. Pairing with Tarantino has been a bingo for Waltz; he also won Best Supporting Actor for “Inglourious Basterds,” Tarantino’s revisionist World War II drama, at the 2010 Oscars ceremony.
