Police Talk Down Woman Who Was Apparently Attempting Suicide Outside Of ‘Kick-Ass’ Comic-Con Event

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Police rushed to the scene of an apparent suicide attempt in San Diego, Calif. after onlookers realized a woman hanging from a 14th floor balcony was not part of a Comic-Con marketing stunt.

The woman, who the Los Angeles Times reports was wearing green pants that suggested she was part of the “Kick-Ass 2” party that was being set up in the parking lot adjacent to the building she was hanging from, was initially thought to be part of some elaborate campaign for the movie. A character in the film wears a similar outfit.

That was not the case. “The call came in as a jumper,” a member of the San Diego Police Department told the paper. “A female hanging from a balcony. There was something thrown from the balcony and she was crying. After some negotiations, she was taken into custody.” Authorities said the woman would be taken to a county mental health facility.

Comic Book Movies Showcased at CinemaCon

Three different comic books serve as the basis for some of Universal’s biggest film releases this summer: Kick-Ass 2, R.I.P.D. and 2 Guns. All three movies were part of Universal’s presentation today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the studio showcased their summer 2013 slate to theater executives, distributors, and press. IGN was on hand for the studio’s presentation.

The studio showed slightly extended red band trailers for both Kick-Ass 2 and 2 Guns, but there really wasn’t anything new that IGN readers wouldn’t have already seen in the trailers released for both films. 2 Guns debuts August 2, while Kick-Ass 2 opens August 16.

But after 20 years of continuing to use him as an alibi for all manner of problems, their significant others want to finally meet this him, so they hire an out-of-work actor to play the part.

Jim Carrey's Top 10 Movies

Jim Carrey is one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, but he’s also an actor who seems to go through phases of manic activity and relative silence. Luckily, Carrey is coming back into the spotlight in a big way in 2013. In The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, which opens today, Carrey plays a rival magician to Steve Carell‘s titular character. Many are already praising Carrey as the best thing about the movie (including us). And later this year, Carrey will don a cape and tights to play Captain Stars and Stripes in the highly anticipated superhero sequel Kick-Ass 2. That’s to say nothing of projects in the works like Dumb & Dumber To and Bruce Almighty 2.

Is Mark Millar Going to Kill Kick-Ass?

With Kick-Ass returning to screens this summer in the appropriately titled Kick-Ass 2, it seems that character co-creator Mark Millar has been discussing his plans for a third instalment.

BEWARE OF POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

Speaking to SFX, Millar revealed that the third story will be the last one, which isn’t great news for Kick-Ass himself.

As Millar explains, “I told Universal

this and they asked me, ‘What does that mean?’ I said, ‘It means that this is where it all ends.’ They said, ‘Do they all die at the end?’ I said, ‘Maybe’ – because this is a realistic superhero story.

Marvel Eyes Carrey and Sandler for Guardians?

Marvel Studios is reportedly eying a pair of big name comedy stars for Guardians of the Galaxy.

According to Latino-Review, Marvel is said to be checking the availability of Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. The site’s unsure which roles Carrey and Sandler might be under consideration for, but it’s possible it could be voice-over roles such as Rocket Raccoon or Groot.

Carrey’s certainly no stranger to comic book movies having starred in Batman Forever, The Mask and the upcoming Kick-Ass 2.

Furthermore, Latino-Review claims that three other actors have read for the lead role of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord: Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games, Ghost Rider), Cam Gigandet (Priest, Twilight), and Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars, The Help).
