Stella McCartney Fall 2013

By Christina Perez

Never mind that Bono, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, and Jessica Alba were sitting front row. And never mind that the setting was Paris‘s gorgeous, gilded Opéra Garnier. The clothes on Stella McCartney‘s Fall 2013 runway were plenty spectacular on their own.

But don’t go thinking that means glitter and glitz. Nope, this was pure McCartney, and that means clean, functional, comfortable, and very, very chic. The designer drew inspiration from her past on Saville Row, melding that world’s pinstriped wool and large-scale plaids with oversized cuts and asymmetrical shapes, striking the perfect balance between masculine and feminine all at once. “It was a redirection of Stella classics,” the designer explained. “Things I do instinctively and effortlessly, so paying homage to Britain and its classic tailoring and inserting a new femininity, bringing a sensual woman into it all.”

Jessica Alba Attends Fashion Week In Robe-Like Coat At Kenzo Show (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

We’ve seen lots of strange sights at Paris Fashion Week so far — Cher, Kimye, etc. — but Jessica Alba might take the cake for most puzzling fashion choice yet. Alba attended Sunday’s Kenzo show wearing what at first glance looked like a cobalt bathrobe, paired with a white long-sleeved dress underneath.

It wasn’t actually a bathrobe — it appears to be a piece from the forthcoming fall collection (here’s the black version). But we couldn’t help but cock our heads when we saw Jess in this look. Aside from the fact that it’s not exactly a crowd-pleaser, it just doesn’t look like something she’d wear.

While we’re accustomed to seeing the mother attend fashion week in more curve-hugging ensembles (see: Jessica in skintight leather), we’re definitely down to see the actress go more avant-garde. Our advice? Avoid looking like this.

5 Reasons Why You’re Not Getting (And Maintaining) Straight Hair

By The Huffington Post News Editors

It’s taken me a very long time to embrace the way my naturally curly hair spirals and grows in different directions. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I suffer from “hair envy” every now and then. And I have celebrities like Beyoncé, Jessica Alba and Eve to thank for my sudden lust for super straight hair.

These red-carpet stunners have recently stepped out wearing straight hairstyles that make me wonder if they’re using flat irons created by NASA. Not a single strand of hair appears to curl up in spite of standing just a few feet away from hot camera lights. Just the mere thought gets me frustrated as I recall spending hours carefully detangling my thick hair, blowdrying it section by section (and going back over spots because I’ve broken into a sweat) and trying my hardest to keep this sleek look for more than five days. Yet, in spite of falling short, the appeal of straight hair remains. Am I right, ladies?

“Most women want what they naturally don’t have,” says Johnny Lavoy, celebrity hairstylist and L’Oreal Paris consulting hair expert. “Super straight hair also appears to be healthier looking, because it reflects more light. Straight hair also adds the illusion of more length, and it’s a fairly simple way to dramatically transform your look without a haircut.”

Tommy Girls

New York may be the nerve center of all things fashion this week, but Tommy Hilfiger set his sights on Los Angeles for the opening of a new flagship on Robertson Boulevard. “It makes me very happy that we have the opportunity to present our new face on the West Coast to our fans,” the designer said at the opening last night, celebrating both the brand and its partnership with P.S. ARTS. Drew Barrymore, Monique Lhuillier, and Olivia Munn all joined host Jessica Alba, for whom the night was a bit nostalgic. “Tommy Girl was the very first perfume that I ever bought. I remember that I babysat and saved up all my money to buy it,” Alba said. “I’ve always wanted to be a Tommy girl.”

Taking the celebrations off-site, the crowd—including Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Kanye West—gathered after hours at a private West Hollywood club for an intimate performance by Alicia Keys, who started her set with “Empire State of Mind.” After asking the crowd, “Do you all want me to do ‘In L.A.?,” she quickly changed her signature chorus for the occasion. And then the true get of the evening took the stage, with Axl Rose receiving a personal introduction from Marky Ramone and Hilfiger himself, the hatchet clearly buried since their bar fight back in 2006.

Fashion's Finest and Hollywood's Brightest Brave the Snow For Dior's Couture Show

By Christina Perez

Judging by the number of bold-faced names at Monday’s Spring 2013 Couture show, the buzz surrounding Raf Simons‘s tenure at Dior doesn’t seem to be in danger of dying down any time soon. Joining Paris‘s usual front-row fixtures – Carine Roitfeld, Natasha Vodianova, Emmanuelle Alt, and Laetitia Casta –  was a host of leading ladies: Jessica Alba, Sigourney Weaver, Leelee Sobieski, and Chloë Grace Moretz. Despite the slushy Tuileries ground and Paris‘s chilly temperatures, there was also no shortage of stylish eye candy to admire – and we’re not just talking about the model-esque male ushers with giant umbrellas who helped each notable brave the snow.

Sobieski – who was a vision in red at Dior’s ready-to-wear outing in October – was no less striking in a Winter-ready navy blue boucle coat, turtleneck dress, and black moto boot ensemble. Also well prepared for the frosty air was Ulyana Sergeenko; the Russian designer and street-style favorite wore a full-length fur skirt to complement her newly lightened hair.

A peek at all the arrivals, right here.

Golden Globes 2013: The Very Best Looks From the Red Carpet

By Christina Perez

Last season’s runway rivalry didn’t quite reprise itself on Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet – but almost. Hedi Slimane‘s new vision for Saint Laurent found a muse in Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; the model-actress (and her Angelina-esque right leg) looked divine in Spring 2013’s gauzy, bow-necked halter gown. Meanwhile, Raf Simons‘s modern Christian Dior was out in full force on not one but two lovely leading ladies. Jennifer Lawrence – who took home the Globe for her work in Silver Linings Playbook – made a strong case for minimalism in the label’s Fall 2012 crimson Couture ballgown, while Marion Cotillard was a vision of modern-day sweetness in a custom asymmetrical strapless shift.

But Slimane and Simons weren’t the only big-name designers who made an impact on the red carpet. Zac Posen was well-represented; not only did the designer dress Naomi Watts in a gorgeous merlot gown from his Pre-Fall 2013 collection, but he also dressed the night’s big winner Lena Dunham in a raisin-hued gown complete with Posen’s signature body-flattering seaming. Oscar de la Renta, too, had a strong showing. Jessica Alba looked dreamy in the designer’s Pre-Fall 2013 sherbet-colored trumpet dress, while Zooey Deschanel glowed in a vivid red strapless number.

Click through to see all those – plus Jessica Chastain‘s seafoam Calvin Klein, Kathryn Bigelow‘s embellished Prada, Sienna Miller‘s pale pink Erdem, and more – right here in our roundup of the very best looks from 2013 Golden Globes night.
