Is This Young Harrison Ford's Clone?

If Harrison Ford had been in Looper rather than Bruce Willis, this guy could have been his younger self. He could be his kid or grandson, or even his clone. Watch this young dead ringer’s impersonation of Star Wars-era Ford as Han Solo. With Lucasfilm reportedly developing a young Han Solo movie, this video may as well be his screen test:

In the meantime, cast your vote for our picks for the right actor to play young Han Solo in the purported standalone movie.

Who is the Next British Action Hero?

When none-other-than Bruce Willis name-checks British actors as his favourite current action stars – specifically Daniel Craig and Jason Statham – it’s a huge compliment. Especially in a period when the American veterans – Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis himself – are all doing their utmost to prove they’re not expendable onscreen. But are Craig and Statham alone in flying the flag? What about the next crop of UK action stars? IGN short-lists 15 actors, of various age and experience, to raise the action man stakes, and keep the British end up.

In case you were wondering what Bruce Willis is up to these days, the answer is this: he’s been reprising the role of super-cop John McClane in a new Die Hard movie, entitled A Good Day To Die Hard. The plot has him in Moscow in search of his wayward son, but instead he runs into terrorists trying to steal a nuclear weapon. He does track down his son, who turns out to be a CIA operative. Action-packed family fun ensues.

Of course that’s just one version of the plot. In the second, perhaps more relevant version, Willis shares screen time with no less than 14 different Mercedes-Benz models, including the C-Class and E-Class sedans, the G-Class and GL-Class SUVs, the Sprinter van, a Maybach 57, the legendary Unimog and even a Zetros heavy-duty truck.

Sure, there are rival brands in the film, too, like the line of BMW 7-Series sedans (presumably used by the bad guys) in the opening of the trailer. None are featured quite as prominently as the three-pointed star’s wares, which display logos throughout the film. We’re willing to cut Mercedes a bit of latitude here, since its vehicles are popular thoughout Europe and Russia. So are heavy-duty trucks from brands like Tatra, and their absence is more than a bit conspicuous.

That won’t stop us from watching the movie, since it’s not likely to be up for an academy award in 2014 anyway. Still, we can’t help but wonder when the shift from including product placements in movies, to filming movies around product placements, occurred.

Daniel Day-Lewis Was Almost in Pulp Fiction

Just imagine for a moment Daniel Day-Lewis as Pulp Fiction’s Vincent Vega rather than John Travolta because it almost happened.

Vanity Fair‘s retrospective on the making of Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-winning film includes this revelation:

Casting proved to be one of the biggest challenges in making the movie. Harvey Weinstein was dead-set against giving the role of Vincent Vega to John Travolta. “John Travolta was at that time as cold as they get,” says Mike Simpson, Tarantino’s agent at William Morris Endeavor. “He was less than zero.” Simpson had given Weinstein a “term sheet” of Tarantino’s demands, which included final cut, a two-and-a-half-hour running time, and final choice of actors. “One of the actors I had on the list was John Travolta,” says Tarantino. “And it came back: ‘The entire list is approved . . . except for John Travolta.’ So I got together with Harvey, and he’s like, ‘I can get Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Penn, William Hurt.’” By then, according to Simpson, “Daniel Day-Lewis and Bruce Willis, who was the biggest star in Hollywood, had both gotten their hands on the script and wanted to play Vincent Vega.”

Bruce Willis Returns for Sin City 2

Director Robert Rodriguez revealed this week that Bruce Willis will reprise his Sin City role as Hartigan in the upcoming comic book sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

“Bruce is back. He’ll be seen,” Rodriguez hesitantly revealed to MTV in a recent interview. No other details were divulged, but suffice it to say Hartigan’s presence in the film wouldn’t be totally out of the question considering that Dame is a prequel.
