Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run – ($1.99)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run Revealed

Nickelodeon has revealed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fanatics worldwide will be able to get their hands on a new TMNT mobile game tomorrow, April 18. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run offers a tubular take on the endless runner genre. Gamers play as all four turtles (plus a few special characters) as they dispatch ninjas and other enemies across the New York City skyline.

Take a look at the game’s traler and motion-comic intro:

Gameplay details, straight from Nick:

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run, players assume the role of their favorite Turtle as they outrun the Kraang’s tractor beam, battling enemies with Ninjutsu combat along the way. As enemies are defeated, players earn coins that can be redeemed for awesome power ups, weapons and gear.  Collecting energy orbs fills the player’s Energy Meter and keeps the Kraang away.  Once the Energy Meter is filled, players enter “Turtle Time” – a special combat mode where game play is zoomed in and slowed down, and players must tap in rapid succession, striking multiple enemies simultaneously in a thrilling fight sequence to increase coin collection.

Downloading LEGO City Undercover Requires External Hard Drive

LEGO City Undercover makes its way to Wii U on March 18. However, if you’re planning on downloading the game from Nintendo’s eShop, there’s something you should know – the game requires that your Wii U has an external hard drive.

Nintendo has provided no official explanation for why the game would require an accessory to be downloaded, or if it has simply not clarified between Basic and Deluxe systems, but we have asked for comment and details. In the meantime, check out our LEGO City Undercover review for more information on the game.

Rich loves LEGOs. In fact, he has various Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars LEGO sets running along the front of his entertainment center. He’s contemplating picking up the TMNT sets too. Join him on Twitter (@RichIGN) and celebrate everything LEGO!

NInja Turtles Co-Creator Slams Megan Fox's Casting

The co-creator of TMNT is not a fan of the casting of Megan Fox as April O’Neil in producer Michael Bay‘s upcoming Ninja Turtles reboot.

In a post on his blog, Peter Laird wrote:

“My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two Transformers movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) Jennifer’s Body. It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O’Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that’s what they want. Who knows? I can’t get myself too worked up about it.”

TMNT: Out of the Shadows Brawler Coming to XBLA and PSN

Activision and Redfly’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, will release on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this summer.

Out of the Shadows is a four-player online co-op brawler with a “skill-based combat system built around combo-driven action.” That could mean anything, but the concept is nice, especially after the Turtles in Time remake proved that simplistic combat doesn’t do the trick anymore.

Out of the Shadows is not based on Nickelodeon’s ongoing, excellent animated series, but exists in its own “hyper realistic 3D-style” world inspired by the show. For a clearer look at what that means, check out these images of Raphael, Donatello, Michaelangelo, and Leonardo below.

Megan Fox Joining Michael Bay's TMNT

Michael Bay, who is producing the live-action reintroduction of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (called simply Ninja Turtles), has posted the following short message on his website today:

TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!

Michael Bay

Fox, of course, starred in the first two Transformers films for Bay before they had a public falling out and she left the franchise. But all seems forgiven now.

Stay tuned for more on this as we hear about it… Cowabunga!

The X-Files Returns to Comics

IDW Publishing, a comic book publisher that’s been restoring the name of licensed comics as of late with great offerings for TMNT, Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Transformers, G.I. Joe and more, is adding another beloved property to that list: The X-Files.

Agents Mulder and Scully are set to return in comic book form in June 2013, and will continue the story from where X-Files: I Want to Believe left off. The last time they appeared in comics was the IDW/Wildstorm crossover series 30 Days of Night/X-Files in 2009. Previously published through DC’s Wildstorm, the new X-Files comics will be joined by reprinted collections of previous volumes of X-Files comics that ran from 1995 (from the now defunct Topps Comics) through to the DC-era.
