Superman/Batman Movie a Reality?

Fans will be getting the Batman/Superman film they have been clamoring for, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter. Man of Steel director Zach Snyder is reported to take the helm. While it seems that Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman in the film, no actor for Batman has yet been rumored. Man of Steel scribe David Goyer is set to pen the script.

Also rumored: a Flash film for 2016 and a JLA movie for 2017.

The Warner Bros. panel is happening at San Diego Comic-Con, and full details are expected to be released then.

Nolan & Bale Not Back for Justice League?

Last month, it was reported that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale were possibly returning for Warner Bros.’ Justice League movie. However, it now sounds like they may not be back after all.

Scoop masters Latino Review were on the Schmoes Know Movies podcast to discuss the matter. They say the studio was revved up to welcome back its Dark Knight duo for their upcoming JLA pic, with Nolan producing and Bale potentially reprising his role as Batman. However, Warners is now reportedly having trouble getting Nolan onboard, as the director doesn’t want JLA messing with the continuity of his Batman films. There was even some hesitancy surrounding Man of Steel’s Superman appearing in the film (Nolan is a producer on that picture).

LEGO Batman: The Movie Review

By Jim Vejvoda

Utilizing the cutscenes from the video game LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite sees Batman and Superman teaming up to save Gotham City from the combined villainy of Lex Luthor and the Joker. Robin and members of the JLA also pop up at various points in this tongue-in-cheek, family-friendly animated take on the World’s Finest.

If you’re a fan of the game then there’s no reason you shouldn’t like this movie, but also no reason why you’d probably watch it since it’s pretty much what you’ve already seen except without the interactivity of actually playing the game. So we’re going to treat this as an experience for those who are unfamiliar with the game, love DC superheroes or just want a fun kid’s movie to watch.

Deadpool Movie: "Tough to Get By a Studio"

What’s up with the Deadpool movie? Who knows. Last we heard back in October, director Tim Miller and scripters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had turned in their screenplay to the studio. But there’s no go date and Fox has been quiet on the project since then.

Ryan Reynolds Has “Little Interest” in Playing Green Lantern in JLA

Ryan Reynolds, who has long been attached to play the title character, recently guested on Empire Magazine’s podcast where he discussed the project… though he doesn’t sound very optimistic about it getting made at this point.

Batman/Superman Film Should Happen Before JLA

The Internet is constantly abuzz with superhero movie rumors these days, but one of the biggest at the moment is Latino Review is reporting that Christian Bale will reprise his role as Batman in the Justice League of America movie, despite his Bruce Wayne effectively hanging up the cape and cowl at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. The site also claims that Christopher Nolan will oversee development of JLA in a sort of godfather role.

It remains to be seen if these rumors will pan out. However, the rumor has us wondering all the more if it’s really such a good idea for Warner Bros. to be jumping from this summer’s Superan reboot, Man of Steel, straight into a JLA ensemble movie. We’re of the opinion that it might be better to to build slowly towards JLA and first offer fans a movie that almost came to pass a decade ago – a Superman/Batman movie. As DC’s two biggest heroes, they’ve enjoyed a long history together in the company’s various World’s Finest comics and similar projects. In this feature, we explore why it might be better to go the World’s Finest route first and save JLA for later on the calendar.

Is Warners Scrapping the JLA Script?

The outlook is not so good for Warner Bros.’ Justice League of America movie. Rumor has it that the studio may be back to square one.

According to a story from Badass Digest, Warners has reportedly scrapped Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall’s script for JLA, with numerous sources citing the same problem: “It’s terrible.”

Some insiders even speculate that the superhero pic may be dead in the water.

Last we heard, the studio was waiting to move forward on Justice League until the release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, but it sounds like that may also mean a whole new screenplay for JLA as well.

No JLA Until Man of Steel Proves Itself?

The fate of Warner Bros.’ planned live-action Justice League of America movie might be riding on how Man of Steel does at the box office.

Variety claims (via Bleeding Cool) that “Warner’s top brass has indicated that they are awaiting the results of Man of Steel, which opens June 14, before moving further ahead.”

This makes sense considering the so-so commercial performance of the character’s last big screen outing, Superman Returns. Also, with Man of Steel being tonally more in line with the Nolan Batman films and JLA expected to be more “comic book-y,” it would seem like the studio would want to gauge audience reaction to this new take on Superman before making this incarnation the centerpiece of JLA.

Batman Reboot Pushed Until 2017?

Rumor has it that the Dark Knight‘s next solo movie is four years away.

Batman-on-Film says it’s heard that Warner Bros.’ Batman reboot won’t be released until 2017 at the earliest.

The real issue, claims BoF, is Justice League of America, which will reportedly serve as the introduction of this new post-Nolan Batman. Should JLA flop, it may spell big trouble for Warners’ plans for this new incarnation of the DC character on the big screen.

Meanwhile, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has shot down the notion of him playing Batman in either JLA or the Batman reboot. “I don’t think you should believe in any of (the rumors),” the actor told MTV. “If there’s something I’m going to be in, I’m going to tell you about it.”
