Suspect in Daniel Pearl murder reportedly arrested in Pakistan

Pakistani authorities say they have arrested a suspect in connection with the 2002 beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, ABC News reported.

Officials told the network that the suspect, identified as Qari Abdul Hayee, was captured during a paramilitary operation by the Pakistani Rangers on Sunday in Karachi, the country’s biggest city.

The U.S. State Department has not yet confirmed the arrest.

“We have seen news reports that Pakistani security forces in Karachi arrested the former chief of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), Qari Abdul Hayee, on March 17,” department spokeswoman Elizabeth Gosselin said in a statement.

“We cannot confirm those news reports and refer you to the Government of Pakistan for more information. The United States is firmly committed to identifying all the perpetrators involved in Mr. Pearl’s murder and bringing them to justice. We refer you to DOJ for further questions,” Gosselin said.

Pearl, a reporter with the Wall Street Journal, was kidnapped in January 2002 while on his way to interview a Pakistani militant. He was later decapitated in a video that was sent to U.S. officials and posted online.

Department Of Justice Investigated Wall Street Journal Over Bribery Allegations In China

The Justice Department investigated The Wall Street Journal over claims that employees at the China bureau bribed Chinese officials for information, the newspaper revealed on Sunday.

WSJ reported that during a wider investigation into News Corp. over phone hacking allegations in 2012, someone went to the DOJ claiming that one or more of the newspaper’s employees had given gifts to Chinese officials in exchange for information for articles. News Corp. found no evidence to support the allegation, according to the newspaper’s sources.

“A person close to the company said the alleged China matter hasn’t been raised by U.S. investigators in some time, but wasn’t more specific,” the WSJ reported. “It isn’t clear if the Justice Department considers the matter resolved or still open.”

John Cruz, a former HSBC (global Swiss Bank) Senior Vice President for Relationship Management has charged Obama’s Department of Justice under Eric Holder as handing them a virtual “slap on the wrist” for being a criminal enterprise. HSBC agreed to pay a fine of $1.92 billion dollars for money laundering profits from Mexican and Columbian drug cartels, which is the least offensive crime they commit on an ongoing basis, to end the matter and DOJ involvement.

A Senate hearing on this matter was held last week in what has become standard operating procedure (SOP) for the Obama administration on the corruption of the “Rule of Law.”

In effect, Mr. Holder believes that some “banks” are too big to prosecute for illegal and criminal activity, as it will cause irreparable harm to the national and world economy. It makes no difference that this action gives tacit approval to the financing of global terrorism or drug cartel efforts to spread their poison onto our streets (and allows the American people to pay a heavy price for this lawlessness in increased criminal activity.) Chicago’s horrendous murder rate comes to mind as just one consequence…culminating in over 510 homicides in Chicago last year alone, with a majority fueled by the illegal drug trade.

The following excerpts are from Eric Holder’s revealing testimony before the Judiciary Committee as relayed in an article from WND (video of John Cruz, parts 1 and 2, at the end of the article is worth watching):

“Banks the size of HSBC are “too big to jail,” as a member of the Senate panel put it.

“I am concerned that the size of some of these institutions becomes so large,” the attorney general confessed, “that it does become difficult for us to prosecute them when we are hit with indications that if you do prosecute, if you do bring a criminal charge, it will have a negative impact on the national economy, perhaps even the world economy.

“And I think that is a function of the fact that some of these institutions have become too large,” said Holder.”

Holder’s later testimony showed the callous indifference to the workings of a criminal enterprise that has engaged in money laundering, financing of terrorism, and outright fraud. A criminal enterprise that is masquerading as a legitimate bank that can affect the entire world’s economy is in desperate need of investigation and prosecution as relayed by Sen. Grassley:

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, asked Holder to explain why federal and state authorities decided not to indict HSBC after it admitted funneling cash to Mexican drug cartels, helping rogue regimes avoid sanctions and assisting Saudi banks tied to terrorism.

The senator said, “I’m concerned that we have a mentality of too-big-to-jail in the financial sector of spreading from fraud cases to terrorist financing and money laundering cases – and I cite HSBC.”

Holder replied: “The concern that you have raised is one that I, frankly, share.”

However, Holder said he was not specifically referring to HSBC, because it would not be “appropriate.”

Ex-Tribune staffer accused of conspiring in Anonymous hack

A former Tribune Company employee could face as much as 25 years of jail time over federal charges accusing him of conspiring with members of the hacker group Anonymous to hack into a Tribune website.

Matthew Keys, who according to his LinkedIn and Twitter profiles is deputy social media editor at Thomson Reuters, has been charged with one count each of conspiracy to transmit information, transmitting information and attempting to transmit information to damage a protected computer, according to a federal indictment filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.

If convicted, Keys could face 25 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 for each count, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.

Keys was previously employed as a Web producer for the Sacramento-based television station KTXL Fox 40, which is owned by Tribune. He was terminated in October 2010, and in December 2010 he gave Anonymous members log-in credentials for a computer server belonging to Tribune, and encouraged them to disrupt the website, the DOJ said.

Video: Drones Will Target Conservative Americans

For many of us, Rand Paul’s filibuster was a surreal moment in time, beckoning back to better days when Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was considered a masterpiece of film because it embodied the values of our nation. Today, “violence porn” films like Django Unchained are considered the top of the heap because they, sadly, embody our corrupt and violent society.

“Old Bull” Republicans like John McCain and Lindsey Graham thought Rand Paul’s filibuster was stupid and irrelevant.  That it was ridiculous to think that Barack Hussein Obama, who has from almost Day One of his presidency spurned the rule of law—often blathering about “if Congress won’t act, I will”—would drop a hellfire missile on an American sitting in a cafe.

But this wasn’t some manufactured issue, as the Left is famous for. Michael Isakoff uncovered a secret DOJ memo last month that gave the Obama administration the authority to kill any U.S. citizen, at any time, anywhere, without proof, without due process, accountable to no one.

And in fact, Anwar al-Awlaki, an American citizen, was taken out by a drone for basically being a propagandist for Al-Qaeda. Whether, being an American citizen, he should have been given due process is debatable. But two weeks after al-Awlaki was killed, his sixteen year old son, Abdulrahman, also an American citizen, was killed with a drone. His crime was being related to an identified terrorist. And in fact, then-Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs blamed al-Awlaki’s son for “not having a more responsible father” for his being vaporized by a missile.

And then there was the news that the Obama administration had ordered a fleet of “public safety” drones, able to pick up cell phone traffic, able to identify whether the target—that is, an American citizen—is armed or not—with the ability to be easily outfitted with missiles.  Experts estimate this fleet of “public safety” drones to reach 30,000 by the end of Obama’s “third term.”

This in itself would have remained innocuous enough, but there was this odd “War on Domestic Terrorism” that the Obama administration was waging against conservatives.

For example, the Department of Homeland Security published a study titled “Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, which identified potential domestic terrorists as those who are “reverent of individual liberty.” Those who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority.” Those who believe there is a “grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.”

This of course sounds very much like beliefs espoused by conservatives, specifically the Tea Party, so it was valid for conservatives to be concerned.

Rand Paul, more pointedly, cited in his filibuster further ludicrous “behaviors” of potential domestic terrorists: Those who have guns with high capacity magazines and weatherized ammunition. Those who have more than a seven day supply of food. Those who pay in cash. And probably the most ludicrous: Those who are missing fingers.

Video: Obama Lets China Steal Top Secret NASA Technology

At 2 a.m, on June 17, 1972, five men dressed in business suits and wearing surgical gloves were in the process of bugging the Democratic headquarters at the Watergate office complex. Caught in the act, they were later identified as Nixon’s “Plumbers,” part of a nationwide operation to ensure Nixon’s reelection that included wiretapping, burglary, private investigators, and mafia-like shakedowns.

Nixon put a halt to the Watergate investigation, giving marching orders to the Plumbers to keep quiet and told his cronies in the CIA and Department of Justice to stall the FBI investigation.

Last month, we found out that two NASA facilities—Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, and Ames Research Center near San Francisco, California-were gorged with Chinese national engineers, who had access to top secret defense technology, who then took this information back to their handlers in communist China.

Congressman Frank R. Wolf, through information gathered from whistleblowers, not only found that secret defense information was stolen, but that the Obama administration, including DOJ, may have shut down the investigation.

According to a whistleblower speaking to Aviation Week, the Chinese nationals obtained high-level, cutting edge technology, including:

… Missile defense technology…High-performance rocket engines, fuel and oxidizer tanks from an “ASAT” (anti-satellite weapon), guidance and terrain-mapping systems from the Tomahawk cruise missile and a radar altimeter from the F-35…

Upon allegations that defense secrets at the Ames facility were breached, an FBI investigation was launched and completed, the information then being turned over to Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Fry. Fry began to prepare indictments and convened a secret grand jury. However, literally minutes before Fry was to begin the proceedings, and without explanation, he was replaced by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elise Becker, and the investigation suddenly stalled.

According to Congressman Wolf, Department of Justice and White House officials intervened in the investigation to shut it down.

Congressman Wolf and other members of Congress put together a confidential report, Destruction of NASA from the Inside: A Summary Report of Criminal and Political Activity, delivered to the Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, which states that NASA has been hemorrhaging top secret technology not only China, but Saudi Arabia as well.

Eric Holder has of course denied that they quashed the investigation, but Congressman Wolf’s probe puts the DOJ right in the middle of what could be the biggest loss of U.S. technology since the Rosenbergs funneled information about the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union.

Nixon shut down the Watergate investigation to ensure his reelection. The Obama administration is alleged to have shut down the NASA investigation to ensure that the funneling of top secret defense technology to communist China continues.

Impeachment for “high crimes and misdemeanors” would be only the beginning…

Obama Abusing The Declaration

In response to being called out on the carpet for his tyrannical methods, Obama stated publicly, “I am not a dictator.”

Whatever Obama says, you can rest assured he is doing the exact opposite, calling “evil good and good evil” and putting “darkness for light, and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:20).

To add to Obama’s list of abuses, his administration attempted to justify drone strikes on his own people. The American people are now beginning to realize we are no longer speaking of what happens in Third World countries; it is happening in our own backyard.

What is it that defines a dictator?

Parallel the abuses of tyrant King George III in 1776 to what is happening to the American people under Obama’s administration, and you will see the same tyrannical measures stemming from the same tyrannical ideology.

Replacing King George with Obama, the Declaration of Independence states:

The history of the present [president of the United States] is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted. …

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Operation Fast and Furious: Obama, as an accessory to criminal activity, including murder, asserted executive privilege where law as well as court precedent clearly shows it unlawful.

Obama has used criminal measures to attack American immigration law and illegally usurped constitutional laws by unashamedly announcing he will issue work permits to illegal aliens.

As the chief law-enforcement agent, Obama has refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act as well as the Voting Rights Act against a domestic terrorist group, the New Black Panthers.

Obama has been held in contempt of court for refusing to lift the Gulf of Mexico oil-drilling ban.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained;

With no constitutional jurisdiction in the area of states laws regarding illegal immigration, Barack Hussein Obama sued states such as Arizona and Alabama for their laws preventing and prosecuting illegal immigration.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

Czars, anyone? He has sent his EPA, IRS, DOJ, and other gangsters to sue private American businesses and citizens, steal private lands, and assault churches as well as private groups that oppose him.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

Obama set criminal precedents as he moved the United States military from the congressional chain of command and used them in Libya with no regard to the violation of the War Powers Act. Shorts Are Piling Into These Stocks. Should You Be Worried?

The best thing about the stock market is that you can make money in either direction. Historically, stock indexes have tended to trend up over the long term. But when you look at individual stocks, you’ll find plenty that lose money over the long haul. According to hedge-fund institution Blackstar Funds, even with dividends included, between 1983 and 2006, 64% of stocks underperformed the Russell 3000, a broad-scope market index.

A large influx of short-sellers shouldn’t be a condemning factor to any company, but it could be a red flag from traders that something may not be as cut-and-dried as it appears. Let’s look at three companies that have seen a rapid increase in the amount of shares sold short and see whether traders are blowing smoke, or if their worry has some merit.

Letting your emotions get the better of you
February was a month to forget for McGraw-Hill investors as the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against its subsidiary, Standard & Poor’s, alleging it knowingly inflated its ratings on mortgage bonds as credit quality was visibly deteriorating. Word that the DOJ was seeking $5 billion in damages quickly lopped off $5 billion in market value from McGraw-Hill and sent its peer Moody’s screaming lower as well. But is this an overreaction? I’d like to think so.

To begin with, many DOJ lawsuits end in out-of-court settlements for far less than the original amount the DOJ was seeking. Unless this case goes to trial and a judge levies the full balance against McGraw-Hill, then investors have allowed their emotions to get the better of them in this case.

Another factor worth considering is the health of McGraw-Hill’s underlying business. The company reported another year of solid growth with 13% revenue growth and 32% diluted EPS improvement year over year. Looking ahead, McGraw-Hill anticipates 15% EPS growth in 2013 as the company focuses on tightening its costs, making earnings-accretive investments, and delivering more value to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases. I’m inclined to believe that short-sellers are playing with fire here.

Don’t stand in the way of cybersecurity
Attempting to stand in the way of companies that are developing the latest consumer and enterprise-based security software is like trying to stop a speeding locomotive with bales of hay. President Obama has made it very clear that he intends to step up cybersecurity requirements in the U.S. after multiple government agencies were hacked, which is putting security companies across the board in the spotlight — including AVG Technologies.

AVG‘s most recent quarterly report, released two weeks ago, showed strong year-over-year growth with revenue rising 28% to $95.2 million and adjusted EPS improving to $0.32 from $0.21 …read more

When Hate Crimes Aren’t Hate Crimes In Obama’s America

In Barack Obama’s Department of Justice, “hate crimes” where the perpetrator is Black are ignored; and those where Whites or Hispanics stand accused are rocketed through the federal courts.

Of course, this is not a novel observation; but a recent case coming out of Compton, California in which an Hispanic gang committed an “interracial hate crime” underlines the ridiculous disparity in how “hate crimes” are handled by the DOJ.

Recently, two members of a street gang calling itself the “NKs” (which stands for N%%^#$ Killers) were indicted for chasing an African-American juvenile through the streets for the “crime” of living in “their territory.” This took place on December 31, 2012. They “yelled racial slurs (and) demanded the youth and his friends move away and broke a window.” There is no more to these “charges.”

Describing this “dastardly” crime, an FBI agent (doubtlessly speaking in somber tones) said:“No one should tolerate violence based on the color of their skin or live in fear based on the hatred of others.” If Obama’s federal government lived by this rule, it would be a beautiful thing; but promoting racial hatred and shielding those who commit hate crimes is his real goal.

Consider these crimes, none of which were treated as hate crimes:

In Jacksonville, solely because he was White, several Black men kicked a mentally disabled White man to death.

In Massachusetts, four Black men stabbed a White man to death because they wanted to kill a White man.

In Indiana, a Black man shot gunned seven White people to death because he has a “deep rooted HATRED of White people.”

In North Carolina, four Black teenagers kidnapped, raped, and murdered a White woman and admitted doing so “for racial reasons.”

In Alexandria, Virginia, a Black man searching for a victim walked into the front yard of a White home owner and, while shouting racial epithets, slit his eight year old great-grandchild’s throat.  At the time of this attack, he had been previously arrested for attacking a White man with a hammer for no apparent reason while calling his victim “whitey.”

What makes this case especially infuriating is that the FBI withheld information about the perpetrator, and this disgusting conduct was supported by a Democrat city council member who commented: “What they did was proper. We already live in a racially charged world.” Yes we do, and Obama’s DoJ is making things worse.

A gruesome beating is the apparent result of Mr. Alexander Landau’s lawful refusal not to allow Denver, Colorado police to search the trunk of his vehicle four years ago.

The trio involved alleged he tried to grab one of their service weapons. A botched cover up ensued (a sure sign of wrongdoing), and a jury awarded Mr. Landau nearly a million dollars.

They won’t lose their jobs for this outrage; but one has since been fired, and another was reinstated after termination for alleged lying in another brutality case.

These scenarios usually end with a drug dog being summoned and walked around the vehicle. If he doesn’t smell any contraband, the driver is allowed to leave.

Compounding this travesty is the fact that the Obama Justice Department refused to prosecute the officers for civil rights violations.

I guess he’s not a “Black Face in a High Place” (like the president’s prized progressive professor Henry Louis Gates) and doesn’t merit attention.

The city of Denver should terminate these officers and file state charges against them. Here’s a cause tailor-made for liberal civil rights activists and conservative civil liberties advocates to unite around.

A citizen, specifically a Black male, was beaten within an inch of his life for following the law regarding a warrantless search of his personal property.

Add to it a liberal DOJ washing its hands of a gross miscarriage of justice with potential racial overtones, and I’d hope the streets will be packed.

I support good cops, but very little good has emerged from what these officers did to this young man. Cases like this heighten tension between cops and urban males, not to mention sour liberty lovers of all colors.

But, in this strange era of tribal loyalty to a disinterested chief executive of color, “little” Black people are routinely sacrificed to save face- especially in 2009, when reducing possible reelection blowback was top priority.

Just a reminder that America’s first pharaoh has feet of clay on issues his tribe foolishly feels he champions.

Not in this case.

And many more like it.

Down The RICO Rabbit Hole: John Reynolds And The Hospital For Special Surgery

To state that the federal RICO statue has long since slipped the bounds of Congress’s original intent is hardly a novel observation.  Although the U.S. Attorney’s Manual points out that “the purpose of the RICO statute is ‘the elimination of the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations,’” the very same paragraph of the Manual proclaims that “the statute is sufficiently broad to encompass illegal activities relating to any enterprise affecting interstate or foreign commerce.”  The varied range of successful federal prosecutions premised on the RICO statute only proves the point, and numerous industries, including health care, have thus come within the statute’s reach.  In fact, in a recent article in the United States Attorney’s Bulletin, an official with the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime and Gang Section (which must approve all federal RICO prosecutions) writes about the growing use of the RICO statute to attack coordinated schemes that jeopardize the health care fraud trust fund, discusses specific RICO health care fraud cases brought in the Southern District of Florida and the Southern District of New York, and describes DOJ’s efforts to include more health care offenses as potential RICO predicates. …read more

Unlike the most famous figure–007–Mr. Obama and Mr. Brennan feel they answer to no one for their actions.  They randomly identify anyone as a terrorist without any proof, even Americans without due process. The most controversial target of the Obama regime was an American born teenage son of Nassar al-Awlaki, a known American-born terrorist. Abdulrahman Al-Awlaki had no ties to terrorist organizations yet was killed by a drone on Oct 14, 2011. He was targeted by the Obama White House while the Eric “The Cleaner” Holder Justice Department shields the Chicago good-fellas by justifying the assassination.

Despite the efforts of Congress and the courts to force the Obama Family-controlled White House to release a DOJ memo concerning Drone killings,  it was leaked to the Obama-friendly NBC news. The 16 Page memo provided details for the justification of the Obama hit squad to select “enemies of the state” for execution. If they happen to be Americans, so be it, even if they are not indicted and represent no actual threat to Americans. But of course, these are not the unfortunate results of collateral damage. They are deliberate hits!  The lap dog media of Don Obama would never dare report this unless they want to risk a visit by the goombas from justice.

The actual memo is scary and vague, even though the targets are represented as al-Qaeda leadership and associates. The meaning of “associates” is unclear and could mean just about anyone. According to U.S. Judge Colleen McMahon, the Obama administration “had engaged in public discussion of the legality of targeted killing, even of citizens.” But, she wrote, they have done so “in cryptic and imprecise ways, generally without citing … any statute or court decision that justifies its conclusions.” It’s the Harvard way, as Obama and his minions believe themselves to be above the law. Obama must have skipped the class explaining due process.

Bizarre

White House jester Jay Carney didn’t want to discuss the memo but justified the strikes as being ““legal, ethical and wise” and added that they were constitutional and used to save lives.”  In 2007, Obama condemned the Bush administration for their handling of the war on terrorism and promised torestore proper legislative and judicial oversight to counterterrorism operations.”  It never happened, and the lame steam media has short-term memory problems when it comes to Democrats. So it will never be asked. However, in a rare moment of clarity, a NPR reporter dared to asked ““Why does the government believe it’s legal to kill Americans abroad, but not inside the US?…There’s no Constitutional distinction — it’s just that capture is not feasible [inside the US]? If imminence is one of the major tests, a plot in the United States would be more imminent than something abroad?” The jester just danced with useless rhetoric.

WASHINGTON — In an unclassified memo leaked from the Department of Justice, it is apparent that the Obama administration favors drone strikes and will kill American citizens even if it is slightly apparent that they are participating in terrorist activities.

This was first reported by NBC News on Tuesday and shows the almost wanton abandon of the Obama administration and its DOJ. The memo continues to go on and say that if the American citizen in question had not recently renounced terrorist intentions or had recently participated in plotting terrorist activities, a drone strike is warranted.
