Justin Amash’s Revolution

By Breaking News

Justin Amash SC Justin Amash’s Revolution

The Republican congressional leadership didn’t even want to bring Michigan Rep. Justin Amash’s anti-surveillance amendment up for a vote. The Obama administration certainly didn’t want it to pass.

Yet last week, Amash managed to force a debate on the House floor that should have happened more than a decade ago in the aftermath of 9/11. His amendment would have denied funding to the National Security Agency’s vast data-mining program.

Amash’s opponents hid behind classified information and misguided emotionalism. “Have 12 years gone by and our memories faded so badly that we forgot what happened on Sept. 11?” asked Rep. Mike Rogers, a fellow Michigan Republican who chairs the House Intelligence Committee.

“We oppose the current effort in the House to hastily dismantle one of our intelligence community’s counterterrorism tools,” White House press secretary Jay Carney echoed in a statement.

Wisconsin Rep. James Sensenbrenner, a past chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and a co-author of the Patriot Act, was one of the 93 Republicans who voted with Amash. Sensenbrenner argued that Congress never intended for the government to sweep the phone records of all Americans.

Obama OFA Speech: ‘There Is No More Important Question For This Country’ Than The Economy

By The Huffington Post News Editors

By Mark Felsenthal and Roberta Rampton
WASHINGTON, July 22 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama told supporters on Monday that he plans to focus his agenda clearly on the economic challenges of the middle class, a theme he will lay out in a speech on Wednesday and follow up with detailed proposals in the coming months.
“There is no more important question for this country than how do we create an economy in which everybody who works hard feels like they can get ahead?” Obama told a small group of donors to Organizing for Action, an advocacy group led by some of his former advisers.
“I’m excited about the speech – not because I think the speech is going to change any minds – but because it gives us an opportunity to refocus attention on the thing that the American people sent me to focus on,” he said.
The White House started heralding this week’s speech – in Galesburg, Illinois – with an email Sunday night from senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer saying he had “just finished reading” a draft and wanted to explain “why it’s one worth checking out.”
Obama has focused much of his energy in the first six months of his second term on an array of domestic and foreign issues. But on Monday, he told a gathering at a downtown Washington hotel that economic issues would now take priority over others, specifically mentioning gun violence and his plan to address climate change.
“So many of the issues that we care about are more likely to progress if people feel good about their own lives and their economic situation,” he said.
The White House has been buffeted recently by controversies over surveillance of citizens’ phone and Internet activity by U.S. intelligence agencies and Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservatives groups seeking tax-exempt status.
Obama and his advisers have been frustrated with the attention on what spokesman Jay Carney cast as “fake scandals” and want to take back the offensive. …read more

Obama’s Parrot Carney Lied About How Bad Obamacare Is

By Emma Karlin

Jay Carney Whine Steward SC Obama’s parrot Carney lied about how bad Obamacare is

Most people find it difficult to lie; but most people are not White House Press Secretaries like Jay Carney. He finds lying quite easy to do. This week, he flippantly dismissed Republican charges that Obamacare has forced employers to move away from full time employees because of the law’s oppressive requirements.

With the kind of straight face only a studied liar could put on, Carney countered the charges by saying, “The data reflects that there is no support for the proposition that businesses are not hiring full-time employees because of the Affordable Care Act,”

Now here’s the truth.

The actual statistics prove just the opposite is true. A Wall Street Journal report tells us that for the year so far, an average of 22,000 part time workers have been hired each month. This has given us a complete reversal of the 2012 ratio, when 171,000 full time workers found employment each month.

Companies with more than 49 employees will be required to provide their workers with government-approved healthcare or face a fine, once the law is fully implemented. In response to this impeding attack, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has weighed in saying, “Small businesses expect the requirement to negatively impact their employees. Twenty-seven percent say they will cut hours to reduce full time employees, 24 percent will reduce hiring, and 23 percent plan to replace full time employees with part-time workers to avoid triggering the mandate.” Because of Obamacare, not only is 7.5% unemployment the new normal; but calling a 30 hour work week full time employment has become normal as well.

Clearly, the small business community is very worried about Obamacare. Only 17% have added employees in the last two years, and less than a quarter of small business owners think they will be adding employees in the next two years.

Among all Americans, a staggering 77% think Obama’s economy is on the wrong track; and a stunning 61% of these small business owners have no plans to hire anyone in the next twelve months. Perhaps most telling in this report on Obama’s economy is that 90% of them want to ease EPA regulations and see more drilling for oil on American soil.

Benghazi, The Muslim Brotherhood Connection, And The Libyan Intelligence Report

By Marinka Peschmann

sharif libya letter Benghazi, the Muslim Brotherhood Connection, And the Libyan Intelligence Report

Appearing in CFP.

About two weeks ago, new information came out that claimed the Muslim Brotherhood and recently deposed Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi were involved in the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack that killed four Americans including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

The new information, a Libyan Intelligence document, was reportedly prepared by Mahmoud Ibrahim Sharif, Director of National Security for Libya, and was addressed to the nation’s Minister of Interior. The Obama administration did not release the report; neither did the various Republican Committees investigating Benghazi. It became public in the West thanks to prolific author and Middle East/Islam expert Raymond Ibrahim. Ibrahim reported that the intelligence document came from Arabic websites and was leaked to the Kuwaiti paper, Al Ra’i. It has since been authenticated by the Libyan government’s chief of the Department of Security in Tripoli.

As Ibrahim wrote:

“[The Libyan intelligence document] discusses the preliminary findings of the [Benghazi] investigation, specifically concerning an “Egyptian cell” which was involved in the consulate attack.” Based on confessions derived from some of those arrested at the scene” six people, “all of them Egyptians” from the jihad group Ansar al-Sharia (“Supporters of Islamic Law), were arrested.

According to the report, during interrogations, these Egyptian jihadi cell members “confessed to very serious and important information concerning the financial sources of the group and the planners of the event and the storming and burning of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi…. And among the more prominent figures whose names were mentioned by cell members during confessions were: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi; preacher Safwat Hegazi; Saudi businessman Mansour Kadasa, owner of the satellite station, Al-Nas; Egyptian Sheikh Muhammad Hassan; former presidential candidate, Hazim Salih Abu Isma’il…”

Here’s the kicker. According to a translation of the entire Libyan Intelligence report provided by Walid Shoebat (a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood and author of numerous books including Why I left Jihad: The Root of Terrorism and the Return of Radical Islam, and Why We Want to Kill You: The Jihadist Mindset and How to Defeat it), the report stated: “In addition, there were extremely crucial information as to the financial sources of this group and the planners and executers of the operation which carried out the breaking and entering of the American Consulate in Benghazi and killing all occupants including the desecration of their bodies in revenge for the film which was produced by the Crusaders who produced the film that insults the Messenger, Peace and Prayers be upon Him (emphasis mine).” See the entire translation at the end.

Oh, the anti-Muslim film, the infamous YouTube video surfaces again? This is disinformation on several levels.

Why? Because the Libyan Intelligence report, dated September 15, 2012 (four days after the Benghazi attack), backs up the false claim that a YouTube video—an anti-Muslim film — was the cause of the Benghazi attack, the same lie that the Obama administration (including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former United Nation Ambassador Susan Rice, White House spokesman Jay Carney, and then Central Intelligence Director David Petraeus) told the world. Since then, …read more

Snowden 'chose not to release' most damaging data

Edward Snowden possesses data that could prove far more “damaging” to the US government but the fugitive leaker has chosen not to release them, said a journalist who first broke the story.

Glenn Greenwald told Argentina’s La Nacion paper that Snowden, who is currently stranded in Moscow, had only sought to alert people that information they thought was private was being exploited by US intelligence agencies.

“Snowden has enough information to cause more damage to the US government in a minute alone than anyone else has ever had in the history of the United States,” he told the paper in an interview published on Saturday.

“But that’s not his goal,” said Greenwald, who published a series of stories in Britain’s Guardian newspaper based on top-secret documents about sweeping US surveillance programmes that were leaked by Snowden.

His comments came as Russia waited Sunday for a promised request for asylum from Snowden.

The United States wants the former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor returned to them to face trial over the leaks. Moscow has so far rejected that demand.

Snowden, 30, has been stranded in the transit zone of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, after the US withdrew his passport on his arrival from Hong Kong three weeks ago.

Snowden on Friday dramatically summoned Russian activists to his temporary base, to say he wanted to claim asylum in Russia until he could safely travel to Latin America for a permanent sanctuary.

He withdrew an initial request earlier this month after Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would have to stop releasing information embarrassing to Washington if he wanted to stay.

After Snowden made his statement Amnesty International reiterated its support for him and denounced what it described as US government persecution of him.

Human Rights Watch accused Washington of trying to block Snowden’s attempts to claim asylum and said that was in violation of his rights under international law.

Representatives from both organisations attended Snowden’s presentation.

But on Saturday, officials in Moscow said they were still waiting for Snowden’s request.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Snowden would have to submit his application to the Federal Migration Service (FMS), Russian news agencies reported.

The head of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) Konstantin Romodanovsky said Saturday they had received nothing. If they did, he added, it would examined according to the usual procedures.

Washington has reacted sharply to the possibility that Moscow might offer Snowden a safe harbour.

“We would urge the Russian government to afford human rights organisations the ability to do their work in Russia throughout Russia, not just at the Moscow transit lounge,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

“Providing a propaganda platform for Mr Snowden runs counter to the Russian government’s previous declarations of Russia’s neutrality,” he added.

US President Barack Obama spoke to Putin by telephone Friday on issues including the Snowden affair, the Kremlin and White House both said, but no further details were forthcoming.

The United States has already rebuked China for allowing Snowden to leave for Russia from Hong Kong.

At his meeting with activists, Snowden vowed he did not want to harm the United States.

US warns Moscow as Snowden seeks asylum in Russia

US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden said he wanted to claim asylum in Russia until he can travel on to Latin America, as Washington kept up the pressure with a warning to Moscow.

In his first encounter with the outside world since becoming stranded at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport three weeks ago, Snowden met Russian rights activists and lawyers.

He is still looking for a safe haven from US attempts to extradite him to face espionage charges for disclosing extensive American surveillance activities.

Washington warned Moscow against allowing Snowden to stay in the country and continue his embarrassing revelations.

President Barack Obama spoke by phone with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Friday, as previously scheduled. No details were released but the White House had said Snowden would be discussed.

“Providing a propaganda platform for Mr Snowden runs counter to the Russian government’s previous declarations of Russia’s neutrality,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

“It’s also incompatible with Russian assurances that they do not want Mr Snowden to further damage US interests.”

Carney renewed a US call on Russia to expel Snowden so that he could be returned to American soil to face trial for leaking US national security secrets.

Amateur footage aired on television showed Snowden dressed in a grey shirt and looking relaxed as he read out a statement.

“I announce today my formal acceptance of all offers of support or asylum I have been extended and all others that may be offered in the future,” he told his audience, which included representatives from Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.

“That moral decision to tell the public about spying that affects all of us has been costly, but it was the right thing to do and I have no regrets,” said the 30-year-old former National Security Agency contractor.

Snowden, who has no official travel documents, said he hoped Russia would accept his renewed asylum request so he could then work out a way to travel legally to Latin America.

Although most countries to which he has applied for asylum have rejected his request, Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua have all indicated they would be open to offering Snowden a safe haven.

Human Rights Watch senior researcher Tanya Lokshina, who attended Friday’s meeting, said the US embassy in Moscow had asked her to pass a message to Snowden.

The message was that they did not consider him a whistleblower and he had broken the law, she said.

But Snowden, in his statement, said the US intelligence service’s covert surveillance activities violated not just the US constitution but the UN declaration of human rights.

In denouncing what he saw as illegal activities, “I did what I believed right…”, he added.

His statement was posted online by the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

Latin American leaders defended their right to offer asylum to Snowden at a summit of the regional bloc Mercosur held in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo.

That included the right of safe passage for those granted asylum to the country offering them refuge, said a Mercosur statement.

Mercosur also condemned an incident earlier this month when several European countries denied airspace to Bolivian President …read more

President Obama: "We've Seen the Character of Our Country Once More"

By Matt Compton

President Barack Obama makes a statement at the White House (April 19, 2013)

President Barack Obama makes a statement at the White House following the capture of the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing, April 19 2013. Seated in the background are Jay Carney, Lisa Monaco, Christine Abizaid, and Ben Rhodes. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

After a daylong manhunt that saw police searching door-to-door through Boston, law enforcement officials captured the remaining suspect believed to be responsible for Monday's bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. He was ultimately found in Watertown, Massachusetts.

In a statement from the James Brady Briefing Room after the arrest, President Obama commended the response from the state and local police and federal investigators.

“We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to all our outstanding law enforcement professionals,” he said. “These men and women get up every day, they put on that uniform; they risk their lives to keep us safe — and as this week showed, they don't always know what to expect. So our thoughts are with those who were wounded in pursuit of the suspects and we pray for their full recovery.”

While tonight's arrest closes one chapter in this tragedy, we're still left with many questions about these young men. President Obama pledged to put the full weight of the federal government behind finding answers.

“I've instructed the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security and our intelligence community to continue to deploy all the necessary resources to support the investigation, to collect intelligence, and to protect our citizens,” he said. “We will determine what happened. We will investigate any associations that these terrorists may have had. And we'll continue to do whatever we have to do to keep our people safe.”

It's been a long week, and the events in Boston have in some ways overshadowed another tragedy — the explosion that took the lives of at least 14 people in West, Texas and wounded more than 200. Before the President closed, he made sure to remind the people of that community that they hadn't been forgotten.

“Our thoughts, our prayers are with the people of West, Texas, where so many good people lost their lives; some lost their homes; many are injured; many are still missing,” he said. “I've talked to Governor Perry and Mayor Muska and I've pledged that the people of West will have the resources that they need to recover and rebuild. And I want everybody in Texas to know that we will follow through with those commitments.”

Barack Obama between flags SC White House Admits Obama Budget Has Middle Class Tax Hike

Last Friday, April 5, White House spokesman Jay Carney confirmed at a press briefing that Barack Obama’s budget would raise taxes on middle class Americans. The confession arose from an exchange between Carney and Major Garrett of CBS News, in which Garrett noted that the implementation of chained CPI as the method of measuring the consumer price index would hurt middle-class Americans:

MAJOR GARRETT, CBS NEWS/NATIONAL JOURNAL: “A follow-up on Jim’s question — you do not and the White House does not dispute that if the chained CPI were put in — to be put into effect, it would raise taxes on middle-income Americans?”

JAY CARNEY: The chained CPI, which is a technical adjustment to how we measure the consumer price index –

North Korea urges foreigners to vacate South Korea

Scores of North Koreans of all ages planted trees as part of a forestation campaign — armed with shovels, not guns. In the evening, women in traditional dress danced in the plazas to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the late leader Kim Jong Il‘s appointment to a key defense post.

Despite another round of warnings from their leaders of impending nuclear war, there was no sense of panic in the capital on Tuesday.

Chu Kang Jin, a Pyongyang resident, said everything is calm in the city.

“Everyone, including me, is determined to turn out as one to fight for national reunification … if the enemies spark a war,” he added, using nationalist rhetoric common among many North Koreans when speaking to the media.

The North’s latest warning, issued by its Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, urged foreign companies and tourists to leave South Korea.

“The situation on the Korean Peninsula is inching close to a thermonuclear war due to the evermore undisguised hostile actions of the United States and the South Korean puppet warmongers and their moves for a war against” North Korea, the committee said in a statement carried by state media on Tuesday.

There was no sign of an exodus of foreign companies or tourists from South Korea.

White House spokesman Jay Carney called the statement “more unhelpful rhetoric.”

“It is unhelpful, it is concerning, it is provocative,” he said.

The warning appeared to be an attempt to scare foreigners into pressing their governments to pressure Washington and Seoul to act to avert a conflict.

Analysts see a direct attack on Seoul as extremely unlikely, and there are no overt signs that North Korea‘s army is readying for war, let alone a nuclear one.

North Korea has been girding for a showdown with the U.S. and South Korea, its wartime foes, for months. The Korean War ended in 1953 with an armistice, not a peace treaty, leaving the peninsula still technically at war.

In December, North Korea launched a satellite into space on a rocket that Washington and others called a cover for …read more

Eyeing Syria, White House woos regional rulers

When President Barack Obama meets over the next month with leaders from Mideast and other regional nations, he will have a timely opportunity to try to rally the Syrian opposition’s main backers around a unified strategy to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Jordan, Turkey, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates — whose Sunni Muslim leaders will meet separately with Obama starting April 16 — are all believed to be arming or training rebel forces seeking to overthrow Assad’s regime. But disparate political, geographic and religious considerations have led to conflicting approaches to which rebel factions to back and what kind of support to provide.

Infighting among mostly Sunni opposition groups and their failure to agree on a power structure to take over if Assad falls has been an important factor aiding the Alawite president as he clings to power two years into a civil war that has left at least 70,000 dead. Alawites are an offshoot of Shiite Islam, and the civil war has largely broken down along sectarian lines.

As resolute as Obama and most U.S. allies are that Assad must go, officials are increasingly worried about what Syria will look like if the regime falls before opposition groups can agree on a governing structure. That has resulted in extra U.S. pressure on regional allies to convince the opposition to unite.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the high-level visits by leaders from the four nations reflect Obama‘s “deep personal interest” in the region and his commitment to the policies the U.S. is advocating.

“He will use these opportunities to discuss the complex developments in the broader Middle East,” Carney said. “Not just Syria, but including Syria.”

He pointed to other developments related to the Arab Spring and Obama‘s visit in March to Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories as other topics the president would likely discuss with the Arab leaders. Secretary of State John Kerry also is returning to the Middle East on Saturday for meetings on Syria and Israeli-Palestinian peace.

Additionally, senior Obama administration leaders at the White House, State Department and Pentagon held a high-level meeting Friday that focused on Syria among its top national security priorities, according to two officials familiar with the discussion who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose the talks to the media. Senior U.S. officials have been meeting regularly to discuss a range of options on U.S. involvement in Syria, …read more

Sequester Lies

By Leon Puissegur

Sequester SC Sequester Lies

Liar, liar, Obama is a liar! There is no other way to put it. In an encore, not to the song by the Three Dog Night, but to an earlier article I wrote, Barack Obama stated on a show that the White House did not stop the tours; they had nothing to do with that. Just a few hours after Obama makes that statement on national Television, Jay Carney, the White House Press Secretary states, “The tours are run by the White House, no one else does that.” Can you now say, Liar, liar, Obama’s a liar? How many other times in just the past few months has he come right out and told a bold face lie to the people of the United States? Let us take a quick look, First, Benghazi, where Obama stated for weeks that it was an attack caused by a video placed on U-Tube. Now we know that Obama knew of the truth within hours of the “Terrorist Attack” but continued the LIE because his faithful news media would help him. “Liar, liar, Obama’s a liar!

It was back in August of 2011 that Obama gave the idea of having a “Sequester” if a debt solution could not be put forth. Now Obama is going out and making statements that the Republicans can stop what he designed. Now let us look at something here, Obama “Orchestrated” the Sequester, now he blames the Republicans but he can fix it if the “Republicans” work with him. Liar, liar, Obama’s a liar! You see it was Obama who came up with the idea of the Sequester. It was a plan from the White House made up to make the “Republicans” look bad when it did happen. Here it actually was not supposed to happen because Obama had it in his head that he would get his way and collect even more taxes. So it kind of backfired on him.

Now fast forward to today and all the alleged cuts that are going to happen due to the “Republicans” not doing what Obama wants! That should stick out in your mind; “not doing what Obama wants.” You see this all goes back to his fixation with Karl Marx and his desire back in the 1980′s to cause civil unrest and destroy the United States so he, Obama, can lead the people out of the mess he created! Remember this from an interview with one of the few people that have ever come forward to discuss Obama’s ideology while he was at Occidental College in the 1980′s? (LP-Leon Puissegur; Dr. Drew-Dr. John Drew)

LP; “During that time did Obama display the Marxist ideology?”

Dr. Drew; “We were confiding in each other the way people fight with each other people with major historical struggles in communicating, very down to earth, very honest. Media’s Paul Ryan Budget Bashing Is Misplaced

By Breaking News

Paul Ryan Official SC Medias Paul Ryan Budget Bashing Is Misplaced

Though Congress and the president have still not finalized this year’s federal spending plan, they are nonetheless moving ahead with next year’s.

House Republicans, under the leadership of Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., have produced a document that balances the federal ledger in 10 years. Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., are lagging behind, but they have an excuse. They are out of practice, having failed to produce and pass a budget for more than 1,400 days. They are also apparently stuck, unable to find the $1 trillion in new taxes they want to fuel yet another increase in spending. President Barack Obama, meanwhile, is on the sidelines. The White House missed the statutory deadline for delivering its budget document to Congress and is, technically anyway, in violation of the law. Guess what is getting all the attention?

In a rational world, the Senate Democrats having passed no budget for almost five years and White House being late with its own would be at least as interesting as what Chairman Ryan has proposed. Unfortunately Washington is not a rational place, so the Ryan document has commanded the most attention.

It is a cheerful document. In addition to getting the budget in balance in 10 years it repeals the funding for Obamacare while pushing for much-needed reforms in other aspects of the federal government. The Ryan budget goes a long way toward accomplishing what the Heritage Foundation defines as the six essential goals of budget policy: Get to balance in a decade without raising taxes; defund Obamacare in its entirety; overhaul entitlement programs like Social Security in a way that keeps the promise made to America’s seniors while forestalling its impending bankruptcy; fully fund national defense; roll back discretionary spending; and lay the groundwork for fundamental tax reform with federal revenues at the post-war historical average of 18.5 percent of U.S. GDP.

That is not to say the Ryan budget accomplishes all these things—but it comes closer than what either the Democrats or President Obama have proposed thus far because they have proposed nothing. We do know, thanks to White House spokesman Jay Carney, that whatever Obama proposes it will not balance—ever.
