Edgar Wright Says Pym's in Ant-Man 2

He won’t be in Avengers: Age of Ultron (and thus won’t be resposible for the villainous robot’s creation in the movie), but it looks like Dr. Hank Pym will soon make his big screen debut in another Marvel movie instead.

In a chat with io9, director Edgar Wright confirmed that Pym will be in his Ant-Man movie, currently slated for a 2015 release.

“But given that Wright has described Ant-Man as a film about a ‘badass secret agent’ in the past, it seems reasonable to imagine the film’s main character will be Scott Lang, the reformed criminal who inherits the Ant-Man headgear and identity,” io9 speculates.

Edgar Wright: Ant-Man Script is All Done

Director Edgar Wright confirmed this week that he and co-writer Joe Cornish have completed their Ant-Man script, which recently called for a facelift in order to fit into the modern Marvel Cinematic Universe.

was very good in terms of like, ‘Okay, we’ll see you in two years!’ The thing is, that character’s been around since 1962, so he’s not going anywhere. The later we leave it, the better the special effects will be.”

IGN recently caught up with Edgar Wright to discuss forthcoming feature The World’s End, and while we had the writer-director on the line, we took the opportunity to quiz him about superhero flick Ant-Man, the first film in the third cycle of Marvel movies heading into cinemas.

Speaking of the ways in which his effort will differ to other comic-book movies, Wright said: “It’s a way of doing a superhero film within another genre. I wanted to tell an origin tale in a slightly different way. It’s part of the Marvel cinematic universe, but it also feels like its own piece.”

Rumors About Marvel's Phase 3 Movies

The rumor mill has hulked out over Marvel Studios‘ Phase 3 movie slate.

The report comes via Latino-Review and should the rumors pan out (they do have a sweet track record) then consider these pretty giant SPOILERS AHEAD.

Like, seriously, don’t read any further if you don’t want to know.

You’re really going to go through with this, aren’t you?

OK, well, we warned you.

According to Latino-Review, Marvel’s The Avengers 2 will see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk shipped off Earth by the MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) version of the Illuminati. Marvel Studios Phase 3: Doctor Strange

We’ve known since San Diego Comic-Con 2012 that Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man would be one of Marvel’s future films following their Phase Two slate of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige says that Ant-Man will have company as part of what he dubs Marvel’s Phase Three: Doctor Strange.

In a chat with MTV, Feige said, “Doctor Strange, which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. … He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is Ant-Man, which keeps us excited.”
