ESRB Rates The Sly Collection for PlayStation Vita

An ESRB rating dug up by CVG indicates that The Sly Collection — the 2010 HD re-release of PlayStation 2’s Sly Cooper trilogy — will be coming to PlayStation Vita. (We loved the PS3 version.)

If true (and it almost certainly is, as the ESRB doesn’t rate games out of thin air), this will mark the second Sony-owned HD collection to make its way from PS3 to Vita; the Jak & Daxter Collection was recently confirmed to be coming to Vita after a rumor surfaced last month indicating that it was a possibility. However, to verify, we’ve reached out to Sony for comment and are waiting to hear back.

ESRB Rates ‘Best of PlayStation Network’

If a new ESRB rating is to be believed, a fresh PlayStation 3 compilation is incoming called Best of PlayStation Network Volume 1.

According to the ESRB information, the compilation contains four games – Fat Princess, Tokyo Jungle, Sound Shapes and When Vikings Attack – though there’s no word on how much the collection may cost or when it will be available. The overall rating is T for Teen.

Assuming this collection is real (the ESRB’s job is to post real game ratings, though we’ve reached out to Sony for official comment), do these four games really represent some of PlayStation Network’s best games? Well, yes and no. We here at IGN gave Fat Princess a 9.0, Tokyo Jungle an 8.0, Sound Shapes a 9.0 and When Vikings Attack a 6.5. That makes for an average IGN score of 8.125, or “Great” on IGN’s scale.

ESRB Rates Jak & Daxter Collection for PS Vita

This morning, a rather interesting link from the ESRB’s website has been circulating. It appears that the Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated the Jak & Daxter Collection for PlayStation Vita.

The Jak & Daxter series was a well-known and popular commodity on PlayStation 2. Developed by Sony-owned developer Naughty Dog — the studio previously responsible for Crash Bandicoot and since responsible for Uncharted and The Last of Us — Jak & Daxter was one of a number of PlayStation-exclusive 3D platformers on PS2, along with the likes of Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper.

ESRB Will Launch PSA Campaign to Educate Parents

A newly introduced national campaign will encourage parents to better monitor the games their children play by reviewing the Entertainment Software Rating Board’s video game ratings.

The campaign, which will see the development of new Public Service Announcements in addition to the PSAs already in use by the ESRB, will also encourage parents to take advantage of the seldom-used parental controls on video game consoles.

“The video game industry makes games for people of all ages, but that doesn’t mean all games are appropriate for everyone,” says U.S. Senator John Thune.

“The more parents know about the wealth of dynamic tools the video game industry has developed for monitoring game play, the more empowered they will be to make informed decisions about which video games are appropriate for their family,” adds Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
