Far From The Mountaintop: Black America Still Reaching For MLK’s Dream

This article is the first in a Huffington Post series examining the state of Black America.
WASHINGTON — Elijah Cummings, 62 years old, has lived and seen the best — and the worst — of what this country means, offers and does to a black man. He knows the promise and pain of Black America.
His parents were Southern sharecroppers who moved to Baltimore for a better life. The budding civil rights movement was active in the city, and schools and public facilities became integrated when he was a boy. They were excellent, and he went on to become student body president at Howard University, earned a law degree and now serves as a Democrat in the House, representing the city in which he grew up.

Avoiding Progressive Purgatory

A liberal ex-girlfriend browbeat me yesterday on the phone over the “debt” she felt I owed progressive social policies.
This is nothing new, but she was particularly pronounced- maybe because we hadn’t talked in a while.
To her credit, despite being a die-hard Democrat, she’s highly intelligent and an accomplished advisor to businesses (established and start-ups.)
I wonder how someone like her can be a Democrat, but somehow she pulls it off. Her resume should have her squarely on the Republican side of the ledger.
Sadly, that doesn’t stop her from attempting to “convert” me away from conservatism, which she equates to effectively supporting policies contrary to my best interests.
She fails to see that embracing leftist moral relativism and it’s anti-capitalist creed would do nothing to help me as an individual.
Undermining traditional marriage alone in Black America’s two-parent desert means a suicide pact dooming us to even more rudderless children and horrific headlines.
Extolling the virtues of Obama (yeah right!), social security, unemployment insurance, and affirmative action (as if they don’t need serious reform) ensures she one day won’t have any businesses left to advise.
Middle-class Black liberals preach a lot of socialism but always overlook their ironic role as beneficiaries of capitalism.
She worked hard to have marketable skills yet advocates government giveaways for low-income American Blacks without marketable skills.
She helps other people make money but supports tax polices that undermine producers of wealth and jobs.
She wants race-based preferences in education and employment while also blasting the boogeyman of White privilege.
I have plenty of White friends who feel anything but privileged these days, with millions more screaming in agreement.
I can’t support the progressive policy purgatory.
The America I grew up in has been ruled by them since the 1960s and has subsidized a wave of vulgarity, violence, and general dysfunction, the likes of which put old Soviet Russia to shame.
My ex-girlfriend really thinks that joining her bandwagon would be a step forward for me.
Sadly, the world she invites me to join is a wasteland where folks like her do all the right things to succeed in a capitalist system, while not demanding the same of those they try to help.
I want far, far more for Americans in need than life sentences to a progressive purgatory where nothing improves except the lot of do-nothing overseers.
That’s why I’ve avoided it for years!

Jonylah Watkins: An Angel Died In Chicago

The death of this six month old angel, Jonylah Watkins, reminds me of a night years ago in Georgia, far removed from the Chicago minivan where she was hit five times.
Speculation is her father was the intended target.
On this night I’m recalling, while talking on the phone, a lot of high-caliber gunfire exploded nearby.
So nearby that I dove and crawled for my pistol like it was a war movie.
Because I lived in a Southern state, I was able to legally keep firearms at home and, with my license, carry concealed if I chose.
This angel died while having her diaper changed! Will anyone demand her killer’s head on a platter?
Will Black lobbyists for chocolate Klansmen take at least one day off to protest this outrage?
Imagine if she weren’t Black in a low income area? Suppose she was the bouncing blonde pride and joy of a young White man- would public response differ?
This latest shocking sacrifice is laid once again at the feet of Black America, a community that often ignores homegrown horror stories to focus on bad cops or White boogeymen in distant boardrooms and elected offices.
I have said there should be a mandatory federal sentence for killing juveniles.
While state laws can be introduced to accomplish the same, a federal life sentence means just that: life without the possibility of parole.
That’s not always the case with life sentences under state law. Plus, streets so unsafe that babies die demand the highest level of prosecution.
Sadly, some Black folks’ sick love affair with criminals means infants can die so long as we don’t come down too hard on their killers.
Sympathy goes in the wrong direction with such “thinking.”
Thank God Chicago has a brother-like activist/Congressional candidate, Paul McKinley, to shake heaven and earth until people most affected wake up and take action.
An angel died in Chicago… and it seems she won’t be the last!

White Boogeymen And Black Supervillains

I have searched the Hood high and low looking for its supervillains. This search has yielded a Rogues Gallery of colorful characters, most of whom are themselves Hood residents.
The White Boogeyman has yet to cross my path.
While conservative men, immigrant businessmen, and capitalism generally are Black America’s preferred scapegoats; homegrown hell-raisers get a pass.
Our supervillain lens seems set to ignore the supervillain culture urging youth to be ever more vulgar and violent.
This lens also does cultural editing where daily Black shooters I call chocolate Klansmen are deleted in favor of the occasional police officer or non-Black citizen shooting one of us.
Black supervillains have it made.
They have their own high profile lobbyists, like Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and civil rights organizations like the NAACP to propose softening penalties for their crimes.
Any wrong they do can always be blamed, no matter how improbably, on the likes of Mitt Romney or…Rush Limbaugh.
Black supervillains are never at fault for what they do and thus enjoy unlimited license to destroy even more generations while the Black mainstream contents itself to look for White boogeymen.
This deadly serious game of White Boogeymen and Black Supervillains has nearly destroyed the inner city, has Black popular culture on life support, and promises to forever remove most American Blacks from contention as competitors in this marketplace.
It’s hard for me as an anti-crime activist to ignore the surplus of Black supervillains around me in the inner city, in favor of distant White boogeymen.
Loving thugs who refuse to repent is literally costing us everything!
Crime fighting, like charity, begins at home!

Colion Noir: Urban Safety Champion

Colion Noir’s pro-Second Amendment YouTube videos have been among my favorites for awhile. I’m excited to see he’s now a contributor on NRA News, produced by the National Rifle Association.
As a young urban man, his advocacy is a refreshing counterpoint to gun-grabber propaganda and chocolate Klansmen glorifying mindless violence.
His rebuttal of a politician’s ridiculous call for ink pens as a defense to active shooters is a classic:
His self-defense crusade is part of what I call the “Urban Safety” movement, which promises to be to 21st century Black America what the civil rights movement was in the late 20th century.
He also asked the urban safety question of this new century in his video “Why Are Black ‘Leaders’ Anti-Gun?”:
Our challenge is basic survival within low-income communities (sometimes whole cities if we’re talking Chicago or Detroit) where thugs have run wild for generations.
Distant corporate Democrats can’t raise taxes high enough to spend us out of this problem.
Until we mobilize culturally and literally (through legal firearms ownership) against chocolate Klansmen and external tyranny, the killing continues.

Alec Baldwin Uses “C-Word!”

Liberal heartthrob Alec Baldwin allegedly had a world-class Dem Crow attack where he recently called a Black New York Post photographer, among other things, a “coon.”
As if “drug dealer” and “crackhead” weren’t enough to call an American Black who’s also a retired NYPD officer?
Alec Baldwin used the “C-Word!” Will Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus ignore daily urban fratricide to banish him from Hollyweird liberaldom?
Not likely.
It warms my heart to see a high-profile member of the so-called “party of the little man” show just how little he always thought of the little man.
If true, don’t expect the pigmentary politburo ruling my figurative side of town (Black America) to fall over themselves chastising him.
That’s reserved for the likes of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and other conservative white men whom liberals of all colors feel are America’s only racists.
I wonder what Baldwin’s lame excuse will be for this tirade, while worried millions of dollars may possibly slip through his fingers?
Exhaustion?
Demonic possession?
OD?
Bi-polar disorder?
At day’s end (and I could be grievously wrong), nothing will happen because he’s a Hollyweird Democrat, and the mainstream media would have to demonstrate rare integrity to punish him on the merits of this allegation.
We’ll see.
If he did deploy the “C-Word”, he quoted from the old school Democrat handbook on what to call Black folks.
Way to go, Alec!
To quote a civil rights activist, Jesse Jackson, who may be allowed to address this case, “Keep Hope Alive!”

Obama Phone Ladies, Crackheads, And Black Professionals On Life Support

The Black Democrat Coalition is a startling sight!
There are Obama phone ladies elbowing crackheads out of the way in neighborhoods more dangerous than Baghdad.
Maybe the view improves when we look toward middle-class Black liberals, who love Obama phone ladies and crackheads so much they live miles away from them!
“Between 2005 and 2009, the year the Great Recession officially ended, the average black household’s wealth fell by more than half, to $5,677, even as their white peers held about $113,000 in assets. Nearly one-quarter of African-Americans have no assets besides a car,” -Salon.com
Nope, not looking much better there either. The same article in Salon.com states that according to a “…Pew report released in July ( 2012), nearly 70 percent of blacks raised in families at the middle of the wealth ladder fall to the bottom two rungs as adults.”
Hmm, looks like the kids of black professionals have a great shot at becoming Obama phone ladies and crackheads.

This is what Black progressives and their pale Politburo offer: the chance to vote to be a slave with no quality of life.
This is an even more bitter irony given that our ancestors were forced to be slaves. They didn’t run to the polling place to elect “massa” and brutal overseers.
It seems Black America can anticipate another term producing even more Obama phone ladies, unemployed thugs, crackheads, and Black professionals on economic life support.
“Progress” like this is fatal!
My not voting for Obama either time offers small comfort.

Brent Bozell For RNC Chair

A radical notion is sweeping through Republican ranks- so radical that I almost dare not type it… but here goes:
Brent Bozell for Republican National Committee chairman!
There, I typed it. Should I seek cover from inevitable liberal tempests stirred in tea pot boiling between their ears?
It’s highly unlikely I’ll ever run from what those loons say or do.
The second Obama victory has establishment Republicans frantic over how to re-brand themselves to woo socialist sympathetic voters.
US Senator Ted Cruz’s recent op-ed on “opportunity conservatism” is a welcome alternative to growing “Me Too! Republicanism 2.0.”
Free market advocacy centered upon upward mobility for average Americans parallels calling for Bozell to be RNC chairman.
The GOP is America’s conservative political party– at least theoretically, though some senators’ fiscal cliff votes make one wonder.
A Republican Party led by Brent Bozell could in no way, shape, or form be accused of being Democrat Lite. This alone terrorizes an active appeasement lobby.
Republicans of the hand-wringing variety want liberals to like them. They fret over how to be more appealing to Americans whose vision will destroy America if fulfilled from both sides of the aisle.
Brent Bozell has built a cottage industry exposing liberal schemes. This candor is sorely needed as some seek to make the GOP elephant a burden bearer for even bigger, more costly government.
His unquestioned credentials as a champion of traditional values are also sorely needed in this perilous hour.
The same man who founded the Parents Television Council in 1996 is someone well suited to counterattack the mainstreaming of endless liberal deviancy.
His 65,000 strong FCC complaints filed against Janet Jackson’s half time show wardrobe “malfunction” in 2004 was a rare event in today’s co-opted culture: an appeal for public decency.
Children watch the Super Bowl and shouldn’t be subjected to rated R-level adult content. When was the last time you heard a public figure take such a principled stand?
America has shifted left-ward and cast her lot once again with those whom conservatives feel are intent upon making her a third-world country to satisfy some 60s notion of social justice.
Brent Bozell as GOP chair would send a clear message that Republicans have at long last found their backbone and will defend free markets and the values that create them without apology.
I grew up in a failed Soviet client state, Black America, that outlived the old Soviet Union. I’d hate to see the rest of the Republic suffer a horrible fate.
Brent Bozell has my vote for RNC chair.
