NRA’s New Commentators Pander To Women, Minorities, Veterans

By The Huffington Post News Editors

WASHINGTON — The National Rifle Association this week debuted a new lineup of special commentators — three young adults whose biographies are tailor-made to appeal to three groups the NRA is targeting with special outreach programs: minorities, women, and military veterans. Colion Noir, Natalie Foster and Dom Raso each will produce regular, short video segments on issues that include gun control and politics for NRA News Network.

Foster, a Los Angeles-based gun blogger, founded Girls Guide To Guns, a blog that combines posts about the joys of shooting semi-automatic weapons with advice, such as how to look “extra cute at the [shooting] range.” Pandering to women is nothing new for the NRA, which has long maintained special programs aimed at increasing gun ownership among women, which the gun industry views as a huge market.

The veterans’ outreach is covered by Raso, who the NRA said is a former Navy SEAL. In 2011, the NRA launched a veterans recruitment program called “Life of Duty”, which offers free annual memberships to active duty military, police, and first responders.

Russell Simmons Is Dead Wrong About The NRA

Russell Simmons SC Russell Simmons Is Dead Wrong About The NRA

Russell Simmons and his brother Run (of Run DMC fame) were part of my formative years!

Their optimistic, sometimes political music provided a perfect swan song for the gun violence that crack brought in the 1980s.

New York’s draconian gun laws disarm the innocent while the guilty arm themselves to the teeth.

It’s sad to hear Simmons recently say “Black people ain’t got time (for the NRA)” when Jam Master Jay (born Jason Mizell), DJ for his brother’s group, was murdered in 2002.

Mr. Mizell had been previously shot in one of his legs. Could accessible, legal gun ownership have saved his and other NY gun crime victims’ lives?

Perhaps Black folks’ lives aren’t important enough in the “enlightened” North?

Simmons should support Black gun ownership if for no other reason than the sad fact that so many rappers now find themselves targets of angry thugs.

Even Afrocentric female rapper Queen Latifah narrowly escaped an armed carjacking attempt in 1995.

When will Black liberals finally stop allowing thugs to run loose in the Hood?

The irony of the situation isn’t lost on observers who note that many of these same rappers’ lyrics and stage personae also bellow “angry thug!” to the marketplace.

Simmons should want his Black listeners to be able to legally defend themselves since they can’t afford armed bodyguards and police escorts like him.

Safety is a civil right too, and the Hood whose fads made Simmons a multi-millionaire is also the most unsafe place in America.

All brothers like new NRA spokesperson Colion Noir are doing is trying to bring some equality into the picture.

Equality is what it’s all about, isn’t it?

Especially when inner-city thugs in major cities like New York and Chicago enjoy an unequal right to shoot unarmed Black citizens obeying gun laws that leave them defenseless.

Black people without bodyguards don’t have time for uneven odds killing us daily!

Russell Simmons is wrong about the NRA.

Dead wrong, according to inner-city headlines.

Colion Noir: Urban Safety Champion

By capblack

Colion Noir’s pro-Second Amendment YouTube videos have been among my favorites for awhile. I’m excited to see he’s now a contributor on NRA News, produced by the National Rifle Association.

As a young urban man, his advocacy is a refreshing counterpoint to gun-grabber propaganda and chocolate Klansmen glorifying mindless violence.

His rebuttal of a politician’s ridiculous call for ink pens as a defense to active shooters is a classic:

His self-defense crusade is part of what I call the “Urban Safety” movement, which promises to be to 21st century Black America what the civil rights movement was in the late 20th century.

He also asked the urban safety question of this new century in his video “Why Are Black ‘Leaders’ Anti-Gun?”:

Our challenge is basic survival within low-income communities (sometimes whole cities if we’re talking Chicago or Detroit) where thugs have run wild for generations.

Distant corporate Democrats can’t raise taxes high enough to spend us out of this problem.

Until we mobilize culturally and literally (through legal firearms ownership) against chocolate Klansmen and external tyranny, the killing continues.

Colion Noir is a champion of this growing mobilization.
