Official: Cadillac executive appointments have global flair

By Jonathon Ramsey

Don Butler and Steve Majoros

Filed under: Cadillac has rearranged its executive suite in order to take full advantage of its sales momentum. Don Butler is moving from his role as US VP of marketing to a newly created position with the title VP of global Cadillac strategic development. It will be his job to “drive the next phase of Cadillac growth internationally,” planning strategy and developing new markets.

He will be replaced by Steve Majoros, an exec poached from Chevrolet’s ad agency of record, Campbell Ewald. Majoros, who has the Chevrolet campaigns “Like a Rock” and “American Revolution” on his resume, will oversee Cadillac’s US and international marketing.

Another component in the brand’s renewed global focus includes conducting an ad agency review. Announced last month, Fallon Worldwide remains Cadillac’s agency of record, but others, said to include Campbell Ewald, will be bidding to make the creative that helps Cadillac expand sales percentages by triple digits here and in China. Gadsden flag, called Tea Party symbol, removed from New York military armory

A group of New York veterans is preparing to march into court after a town ordered the Gadsden flag removed from a military armory.

The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., has removed the Gadsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag from the New Rochelle Armory after the city council refused to let a veterans organization display the flag, World Net Daily reported.

The United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association of New Rochelle is fighting the decision, ordered by City Manager Chuck Strome after complaints that the flag is a symbol of the Tea Party movement, according to World Net Daily.

But Strome did an about-face after Peter Parente, president of United Veterans Memorial, sent Strome the history of the Gadsden flag, which is flown beneath the U.S. flag on many military sites, according to World Net Daily.

Then the New Rochelle City Council overruled Strome, voting 5-2 to have the flag removed.

According to the Washington Examiner, the council objected to the flag because they said Parente is a member of the Tea Party and wants to display the flag to push a political agenda.

Parente said no one in the veterans group is a Tea Party member. “I’m a proud Republican,” he told the council, according to the Examiner.

Now, the veterans have found an ally in the Thomas More Law Center and are ready to go to court.

“Their outrageous decision to confiscate a cherished symbol of our War for Independence smacks of pure partisan politics,” Richard Thompson, chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, told World Net Daily.

“Many Americans fought and died for our independence under that flag, and the law center will take available means to return the Gadsden flag back on the veterans’ flag pole. As one Revolutionary War hero said, we ‘have just begun to fight,'” he added.

According to the U.S. Navy website, beginning Sept. 11, 2002, all U.S. Navy ships have flown the First Navy Jack flag. The flag, first used by the Continental Navy in 1775, consists of a rattlesnake superimposed across 13 alternating red and white stripes with the motto, “Don’t Tread On Me.”

According to the site, Commodore Esek Hopkins used the First Navy Jack as a signal to engage the British in the American Revolution. The Jack in today’s fleet represents a historic reminder of the nation’s origin.

Pennsylvania field holds secrets of 1780s British POW camp

The mud of a south-central Pennsylvania cornfield may soon produce answers about the fate of British prisoners of war — and the newly independent Americans who guarded them — during the waning years of the American Revolution.

A few miles east of York, the city that briefly served as the fledgling nation’s capital after the Continental Congress fled Philadelphia, more than a thousand English, Scottish and Canadian soldiers were imprisoned at what was then known as Camp Security.

The fight to preserve the plot where those soldiers and their captors worked and lived has lasted almost twice as long as the Revolutionary War itself. And the end is in sight — if its backers can raise the last few hundred thousand dollars needed to pay for it.

“This is an extraordinarily important site, because so few of these camp sites survived,” said Steve Warfel, a retired curator of archaeology at the Pennsylvania State Museum who is involved in the project. “It’s a very important piece for understanding the revolutionary period, and how people were treated when they were incarcerated.”

A 1979 archaeological study found numerous artifacts that confirmed local lore about the prison camp’s location. Two years ago, the local government, Springettsbury Township, took possession of an adjacent, 115-acre property and last year The Conservation Fund paid a developer nearly $1 million for the 47-acre parcel. Now the Friends of Camp Security faces a May deadline to pay off the fund so it can turn the smaller plot over to the township as well.

Nothing about the property today suggests it was once teeming with prisoners. The first group arrived in 1781, four years after their 1777 surrender at Saratoga, N.Y. More arrived the next year after the battle in Yorktown, Va. By April 1782, there were 1,265 men at the camp, along with 182 women and 189 children — family members and others who accompanied the prisoners.

The first group was kept under less strict conditions and could be hired out to nearby farms, where among other things they were put to use chopping firewood and hunting wolves. The Yorktown veterans were much more strictly confined, kept inside a circular stockade that had been constructed from 15-foot-high log posts.

The 1979 dig, which focused on a small area, produced metal items such as buckles and buttons that are associated with British soldiers of the period, suggesting that could have either been the Camp Security stockade or the adjacent Camp Indulgence village where low-risk prisoners stayed.

That survey also turned up 20 coins and 605 straight pins that may have been used by prisoners to make lace.

Ken Miller, an associate professor of history at Washington College in Chestertown, Md., said Camp Security‘s historical significance comes from its role in a network of camps in Pennsylvania and elsewhere that held more than 10,000 prisoners during the war.

“Nobody’s really appreciated the extent to which the war reached the American interior in places like York and Lancaster and Reading and Winchester, Va., and Frederick, Md.,” Miller said. “These prisoners put the …read more

Divide And Conquer – The Two-Party System

By Bradlee Dean

“There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.”– John Adams

Here we go again …

The so-called “right” has been capitulating to anti-American socialists/communists who attempt to force their agendas on the American people. Rand Paul voted in favor of confirming Chuck Hagel AND John Kerry, 100 Republicans are petitioning to back homosexual marriage as the Supreme Court looks at the issue this month, and eight Republican governors have betrayed the people and have come out in support of Obamacare.

Nowadays, America’s “right” is as corrupt and destructive as the “left.”

Today’s conservatives are yesterday’s liberals; and as the un-American agenda goes forward, who loses?

The American people do.

No matter “what side of the aisle” a representative stands on, they all swear the same oath:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Those who serve in our military swear a similar oath.

Why is it that the American soldier fights, bleeds, and dies to uphold the Constitution while the representatives in American government are allowed to desecrate their honor by undoing the freedoms (under the laws of our constitutional republic) for which the soldier sacrificed?

We have one Constitution, not two – but the American people have been dumbed-down to believe that when the left is in power, they can trample the Constitution; and when the right is in power, they can trample the Constitution. They both act as if they are a law unto themselves.

The first president of the United States, George Washington, prophetically warned:

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders & miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security & repose in the absolute power of an Individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.

Simply put, America would not have a “left” if the “right” had been doing the right thing all of the time.

It would do America well to go back and see the flags that were flying during the American Revolution.

“No king but King Jesus” and “Appeal to Heaven” were their rallying cries. They must be …read more

George Washington: The Humble Statesman

By AK Fielding

George Washington 2 SC George Washington: The Humble Statesman

In 1789, Americans unanimously elected George Washington as their first President.  Since then, many presidents have come and gone; yet, Washington holds the honor of being the only president in the history of the United States to garner such loyalty and affection from the American public.  Washington was an admirable man because of his excellent leadership qualities; but another outstanding quality of this great leader, often overlooked, was humility.  Even at the pinnacle of his power, Washington maintained a humble stance towards his role as the President of the United States of America.  As President, he never wavered from assuming the role of a public servant over that of a mighty ruler – a position that most modern presidents have often ignored.

Washington did not seek the presidency himself but accepted the honor as a service to his country.  In his First Inaugural Address, Washington noted that, “I was summoned by my Country, whose voice I can never hear but with veneration and love.”  As such, the first President reflected a Statesman more than reflecting a Politician.  Perhaps the most significant difference between a “statesman” and a politician is that the former wished to serve his country; the latter is more interested in serving himself at the expense of the country.  Indeed, even when the opportunity presented itself, Washington was quick to decline from accepting “any share in the personal emoluments” or monetary gains for himself.  For Washington, the opportunity to preside over the nation presented the chance to serve Americans instead of depriving them of their liberties.

To be sure, Washington had many flaws; but for the new Americans, his humbleness overshadowed any discrepancies he possessed.   Indeed, his humility was as much, perhaps even more so, a part of his greatness.  For example, he admitted that he had received “inferior endowments from nature” and was quite “unpracti[s]ed in the duties of civil administration.”  Incredibly, even after winning the Revolutionary War against the greatest world power at the time, Britain, Washington remained “peculiarly conscious” of his many “deficiencies.”

Again, in his Second Inaugural Address, Washington maintained the same humility that was the hallmark of this great man.  Instead of a flowery speech, he was succinct and stated that if he ever “violated willingly or knowingly the injunctions” of the Constitution during his term that “(besides incurring constitutional punishment)” he should “be subject[ed] to the upbraidings of all who are now witnesses of the present solemn ceremony.”  Washington remained steadfastly faithful to the vision of the American Revolution throughout his presidency.

Of all American presidents, Washington most assuredly had the perfect opportunity to abuse his presidential authority.  Yet, instead of getting intoxicated with power and destroying the nation, he maintained his humbleness throughout his term.  Even when a deep political cleavage became apparent in his administration, Washington maintained a neutral position on most matters.  His vision was always to keep Americans united in the principles of liberty.  He managed to perform the arduous task of remaining above political factions by sheer …read more

What Would Ben Franklin Say About An America In Decline?

By John Tamny, Forbes Staff

Writing about the successful American Revolution in his masterful 1998 book, A History of the American People, historian Paul Johnson opined that the British weren’t incompetent as much as the Founders were brilliant. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, Monroe, and Franklin were in the eyes of Johnson the greatest collection of minds in one place in the history of mankind. …read more

Jay Parker: American Revolutionary

By capblack

Jay Parker SC Jay Parker: American Revolutionary

There are two types of revolutionaries: those who tear down countries, and those who build them up.

Jay Parker is the revolutionary who builds his country up. In the 1960s, he chose principled patriotism and organizations like Young Americans for Freedom while liberals profanely protested and joined less reputable groups.

“Courage To Put Country Above Color” tells this epic story and how his behind-the-scenes presence closed what I call the ”conservative gap” between the Reagan Administration and like-minded American Blacks, most notably his friend and future Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Mr. Parker tackled the very touchy issue of exposing communist infiltration and backing of some of the New Left’s Black showpieces. This same courage was later demonstrated while assisting South African capitalists at war with Soviet-supported, popular liberation fronts.

Apartheid was an absolute denial of the citizenship of Black South Africans, but handing the region over to the Soviets was a line Mr. Parker wasn’t prepared to cross.

This brought him considerable heat from liberal elites and challenged my thinking as someone who youthfully opposed Reagan’s constructive engagement policies back then, despite being a conservative.

Instead of an American communist revolt, Mr. Parker spent his life fighting to preserve the American Revolution and extend its promise more fully in modern times.

We rarely hear about this type of American Black revolutionary, if at all.

His example of placing country above color is one of the reasons I founded American History Month as a conservative alternative to what’s become Black (Liberal) History Month.

In addition to Booker T. Washington (and even liberal champions of the Constitution like Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall), I am indebted to Mr. Parker.

He showed me American Blacks can be revolutionaries who build up traditional values and free markets, instead of tearing them down.

Our revolution is part and parcel of the one that freed the Thirteen Colonies from British rule.

Happy American History Month!

Video: Only Days Left Before 50 State Open Carry Demonstration On Feb. 8th!

By Bobby Powell

Alpena Mi – I got up at 0700 after only an hour of fitful sleep and traveled 120 miles to the only open spot in a concealed weapon licensing class. The only reason I got in at all was because I “know a guy”, as CPL classes in Michigan are booked solid for at least two months – and spent the entire day brushing up on the law, taking written exams to prove I knew it, and then spending another three hours qualifying on the gun range for my Michigan Concealed Pistol License.

My classmates ranged from an older (about 70) 1st MarDiv Marine to a young couple in their early 20′s. We were all there for one purpose: to be certified to carry a concealed pistol in Michigan. But why?

Northern Michigan is a beautiful place; and it is also a place where folks stop to help you back out of the snow drift that suddenly jumped out in front of you (me), where the owner of a LOCAL tire store drives your wife and son (mine) back to the car they had abandoned when the tire blew, puts on a used tire for them and charges only $30, and where most people don’t even lock their doors unless they are leaving town for an extended trip. Every now and then, a snowmobile will get stolen (or someone will get busted for drugs, petty theft, or shoplifting.) But by and large, there is not much in the way of violent crime here.

Other than a general desire for personal protection, I can’t say why the others were there; but after the world intruded on our little paradise in the form of threats of my murder and the rape of my wife simply for something I said, there is no way I can NOT carry a gun. I RESENT having to carry a gun up here. It’s totally cheesing my calm, but I refuse to be a victim or to allow my family to be anyone’s victims either. Until the people who made these threats are in jail, I will be forced to carry a gun for our protection.

Since the government has no interest in tracking down and prosecuting those who have made threats against not only me, but every NRA member, Tea Partier, and Republican – basically anyone who isn’t all up on Obama’s jock – in the United States (OR in allowing us to defend ourselves), it is up to every free man, woman, and child to take up that responsibility themselves.

Part of that responsibility is standing up to protect our God-given rights as enumerated in the Constitution, and thousands of Michigan gun owners are going to join me on the capitol steps in Lansing this Friday, Feb. 8th. Even more exciting is the fact that this Open Carry demonstration is going to take place simultaneously in each of the fifty states. With one voice, we are going to say: “No More! No more blaming an entire culture for the horrific acts of of a few deranged DEMOCRATS as an excuse to limit access to guns or take them away entirely. No more stupid, unconstitutional laws that are passed without even being read by those who vote on them. NO MORE!”

Now that Obama has been reelected, he is going to pull out all of the stops in order to institute a demonically inspired, Communistic Tyranny on these fifty individual, free, and Sovereign states. Not one to shy away from doing whatever the hell he pleases through the use of Executive Orders, you all can expect one to gut the Second Amendment any time.

This demonstration is the most important event in which I have ever taken part or covered as a reporter. It is the most important event in which YOU will ever take part, as I believe it is our last opportunity to use our voices to defend our rights. If the Obama administration actually does institute the Draconian gun laws many observers expect it to, the time for talking will be over; and a new American Revolution will be the result.

I’m not advocating violence against any person or entity in any way, shape, or form; I never have, and I never will. I am simply stating what I fear will come true, no matter how badly I wish it wouldn’t.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I produced this episode, and the last one, with a Samsung Galaxy 7-inch tablet and Youtube’s video editor. And I did it like a BOSS! “Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome” Baby! If I have to, I’ll WALK to Lansing with a sandwich board around my neck. If they want to stop me, they’re gonna have to shoot me.

The family of Frank Pruitt received his award. Pruitt died recently.

The Legion of Honor was created two centuries ago by Napoleon Bonaparte.

Video: Three Good Reasons Americans Need Their Guns

By Bobby Powell

SOURCE: The Truth Is Viral

We live in a violent world.

American citizens are much more likely to be killed by lightning than by international terrorism. That’s a given; but the odds of being killed in a violent crime increase dramatically here at home, among our shopping malls and movie theaters. Mass shootings like the ones in Newtown and Aurora (isn’t it sad that we now know these beautiful small towns by a singular name, forever equated with unparalleled tragedy?) are horrific for sure; but nobody says anything about the fact that there is a Newtown-type body count on the streets of Chicago every single weekend, or that more people were murdered in that city last year than the total number of soldiers and Marines who died in Afghanistan during the same time period. Nearly all of the victims in Chicago were killed with handguns.

Even in the tranquil woods of Northern Michigan, there is need to be concerned for one’s personal safety (this writer’s in particular, as I have been the target of numerous death threats over the internet and over my office telephone because of my support for conservative commentator Michelle Malkin and the 2nd Amendment.)

Malkin had been the target of thug rapper “The Game” and hundreds of his followers on Twitter whose vile epithets and threats of rape and murder were just too much for this writer to remain silent. The Game had tweeted that Malkin and FOX News should be boycotted. Fair enough. I called for the same in reference to his album “Jesus Piece” and was suddenly “Malkined.”

Hundreds of The Game’s fans began tweeting obscenities, and there were a few death threats thrown in as well; but what really drew my attention was one Twit’s threat to rape my wife, who is battling Stage IV Colo-rectal and Liver cancer. These threats have been reported to the proper authorities, and I am anxiously awaiting the results of their investigation.

Since I can’t have a police officer stationed outside my house 24/7, and any help from 911 would most likely arrive too late, I have once again applied for a concealed pistol license (CPL) so that I can protect my family wherever I go without drawing stares and freaking people out with the .40 caliber cannon I carry.

However, since Michigan is an Open Carry state, I suppose I will have to suffer the occasional disapproving glance until I go before the gun board next month. That’s what law-abiding citizens do; they apply for a permit if they wish to carry a concealed weapon. How many criminals does the anti-gun lobby expect will do the same?

But the Second Amendment is not about personal protection or hunting. The Founders were wise enough to enshrine our Natural Rights in the Constitution. They knew that there would always be evil men who would do anything to gain absolute power, and they wanted to give their posterity the means to defend themselves from Tyrants who would wield that power like a club given the opportunity.

Nate Wessler, an attorney on the ACLU’s Targeted Assassinations team, told this writer after the President had ordered the deaths of American citizens Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan without so much as charging them with a crime that Obama was now “Judge, jury, and executioner.” Writing as Publius in Federalist Paper #47, James Madison proclaimed “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands… may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

Taken together, the truthful statements of these two men define the new paradigm in the United States: a once proud Constitutional Republic where justice and the rule of law reigned supreme, but which has devolved into a state where the President can now order the extrajudicial killing of an American citizen in secret, behind closed doors.

The Republic has fallen, and a Tyranny now stands in its place. It is only a matter of time before the evils that have been visited upon the innocent peoples of the Middle East through Obama’s support of al-Qaeda are turned inward, against the American citizenry at large.

This video and the accompanying article are not the ravings of a paranoid gun nut. Dozens of states have told the federal government that they will not allow the indefinite detention of their citizens in accordance with the NDAA. Michigan, my state, is the latest among them.

On December 5th of 2012, the Michigan House of Representatives voted 107-0 to nullify that treasonous federal legislation. Sheriffs from all over the country are standing up, mailing letters to the President and Vice-president informing them, literally, that they will not comply with new gun legislation that violates the 2nd Amendment, quite literally saying “over our dead bodies.”

Seriously people, your local elected representatives (don’t count on anyone in Washington for help) are beginning to realize that this country is about to fundamentally change; and they are taking steps to protect the citizens in their state, in their county, and in their town. Fears of a new American Revolution abound; and if history is any indication, we are on the very brink of one.

Report: Obama's limo to carry tax-protest license plate [w/video]

By Jeffrey N. Ross

The United States of America was created in part behind the belief that we should not have taxation without representation, so it is rather ironic that Washington, D.C. must deal with this same problem that helped spark the American Revolution.

For years, residents of Washington, D.C. have had license plates with “Taxation Without Representation” written on them to protest the fact that they have to pay taxes but have no voting power in Congress. Starting this weekend, President Barack Obama will join in the protest by adding the plates to all presidential vehicles including the Presidential state car – a Cadillac known simply as “The Beast.”

Since it is not a state, voters in the District of Columbia are able to elect delegates to the US House of Representatives, but said delegates do not have the ability to vote on the House floor. A similar state of affairs exists for voters in the US Virgin Islands, Guam and American Samoa. This won’t be the first time a president has used the plates to support those living in the District of Columbia. President Clinton had the “Taxation Without Representation” plates on his veihcles, but his successor, President George W. Bush, did not.
