‘The Crazy Ones’: Sarah Michelle Gellar Tracked Down Robin Williams To Win Her CBS Comedy Role (VIDEO)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams are heading back to TV with CBS’ “The Crazy Ones” this fall, and the former “Buffy” star apparently loved the role so much that she was prepared to take matters into her own hands to get it.

On a recent visit to Fox and Friends, Gellar admitted that she kind of stalked Robin Williams to express her interest in the part. “I happen to have known his best man at his wedding, so I tracked down his best man and said ‘you might want to mention to Robin that I’m a big fan and very interested,’ and that’s sort of what got the ball rolling,” she laughed.

The single-camera comedy series, executive produced by David E. Kelley, centers around Simon (Williams) and Sydney Roberts (Gellar), a dysfunctional father-daughter duo who run an advertising agency. Gellar had a shortlived return to TV with The CW’s “Ringer” in 2011, but this will be Williams’ first lead television role since “Mork and Mindy,” which premiered in 1978.

Pa. woman gets life in fiance's stabbing death

An eastern Pennsylvania woman sentenced to life in prison in the stabbing death of her fiance on their wedding day says she still loves him.

Thirty-two-year-old Na Cola Franklin was convicted of first-degree murder in the August death of 36-year-old Billy Brewster after an argument at their Whitehall Township apartment hours before the ceremony.

Easton’s The Express-Times newspaper (http://bit.ly/12uIhzV ) reports Franklin said Tuesday before she was sentenced to the mandatory life term she hadn’t meant to kill Brewster.

Franklin told the victim’s mother in court, “I love him. I do still love him. I love him more than myself.”

Defense attorney John Waldron has vowed an appeal. He argues Brewster came home drunk from an impromptu bachelor party and attacked Franklin.

Awkward Engagement Photos: Couple Shares Hilarious ‘Outtakes’ (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

After getting your engagement photos back from your photographer, you probably shared the best shots on Facebook and emailed them to your entire family. But what about those other shots that didn’t quite make the cut?

One couple compiled all of their engagement photo “outtakes” into a hilarious slideshow and posted them to Imgur and Reddit on Sunday. Bride-to-be alib207 wrote on Imgur that her future sister-in-law took the photos, and that although the majority of the photos turned out beautifully, the best part has been looking at the “super awkward pictures” they didn’t use.

“I think these pictures will serve as a reminder that the imperfect moments at the wedding may end up being some of my favorite memories,” alib207 wrote on Reddit.

The loss of a spouse is one of the most difficult things to get through in life. But one widow found a way to cherish the happiest memory of her husband in his absence.

Was This the Wedding of the Year?

By Randy Miller

It’s only August, and already Vogue Australia has dubbed it “the fashion wedding of the year.” Anyone who follows Caroline Sieber and Fritz von Westenholz’s pals on Instagram (which includes Derek Blasberg, Lauren Santo Domingo, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld) might find it hard to disagree. For those checking their feed, a stream of ultrastylish shots came flooding through this weekend when the Austrian stylist walked down the aisle in Vienna donning an off-the-shoulder Chanel Haute Couture creation. And since images of the affair were much easier to come by than an invitation, we’ve been feasting our eyes on visuals all afternoon – see the ones that made our album!

Tony Whitmore: West Wittering engagement photo session

West Wittering, Sussex, engagement session

A couple of weeks ago I photographed Lini and Huw’s wedding in Arundel, but I realised that I haven’t shared their engagement photo session yet! I met up with Lini, Huw and their furry bundle of chaos called Svetlana on West Wittering beach. It was Svetlana’s first time on sand and she took to it like a dog to… well, sand I guess.

The location was a last minute arrangement due to a change of plans, and was recommended by Lisa Devlin. Thanks Lisa! It’s a wide, open beach with great sand banks and a series of colourful beach huts. But, being wide and open, it’s also very exposed to the wind. It was a blustery day, and we came away feeling rather sandblasted. At one point Svetlana just curled up on the sand in protest. But we managed to make some great photographs and Lini and Huw were really pleased with them. It took me ages to clean all the sand out of my camera equipment and test it all thoroughly. But it’s worth it when you can make great images!

Having an engagement (or “pre-wedding”) photo session is a great idea, as it helps you get comfortable in front of the camera. Most people aren’t used to being the centre of attention in that way, and it’s important that you feel relaxed and natural on your wedding day. An engagement session is a great way to practice that. It’s also an opportunity to get to know each other a bit better, and have an idea of the sort of thing I might ask you to do. That’s why I include a complementary pre-wedding photo session for all my wedding photography clients.

Pippa Middleton’s Style For Fashion Wedding Is Pretty Enviable (PHOTOS)

By The Huffington Post News Editors

It was all a hoax! Or at least that’s what the media’s been saying about Kate Middleton‘s July 13th “due date” after spotting her sister Pippa across the continent over the weekend.

While the royal baby decidedly didn’t arrive, Pippa was in Vienna attending yet another social function, the wedding of Chanel ambassador Caroline Sieber and Fritz von Westenholz. Luckily fashion blogger Christina Dz of Epitome of Quiet was there to snap a bevy of photos during the glam affair, including a few of the bride’s Chanel wedding dress.

As for Pips, she chose an eye-catching fascinator (natch) paired with a coral dress and matching jacket by Matthew Williamson before making an outfit change into an elegant black gown. After her fashion-forward turn in Tabitha Webb for the Coronation Festival last week and her recent round of chic wedding looks, we’re starting to think the 29-year-old’s getting the hang of this almost-royal thing.

Video: Watch how one man finds contentment in his Fiat 2300 S Coupe

By Jonathon Ramsey

Filed under:

At least once a day we hear about the glory of cars of years past, whether for their light weight, their simplicity, their manual transmissions or the way you could order options without ordering packages. But we know that we – and yes, even we here at Autoblog – romanticize plenty of it; that light weight meant atrocious NVH, those options sheets didn’t include any of the things we take for granted in a Ford Fiesta today.

Nevertheless, there are those classics that make it worth it – for them it is no problem to endure the constant draft of bad window seals, the need to add another quart of oil every couple hundred miles. Petrolicious has found one such car and owner, Pierantonio Micciarelli and his Fiat 2300 S Coupe in Milan, Italy. His Ghia-bodied two-door can’t be driven during the day and cost him 800 euros in gas for a 2,500-kilometer trip to a wedding, but the payoff is that moving beauty that makes him “feel like an emperor.”

But there’s no reason to listen to us tell it – enjoy Macciarelli tell his own story in the video below.

On Day He Was to Marry, Teacher Charged With Rape

John Azabache was supposed to be getting married Friday. Instead, he ended up getting arrested for allegedly raping one of his 16-year-old students. Math teacher arrested on wedding day for allegedly raping 16-year-old student

A New York state high school math teacher whose wedding was slated for Friday instead spent the day at a local courthouse for allegedly raping a 16-year-old student earlier this year.

John Azabache, 31, was scheduled to exchange, “I do’s” with Amanda Rae DeLuccia, Friday, around the time he muttered those very two words to a judge inquiring whether he understood the charges against him and the terms of an order of protection mandating he steer clear from not only his now former bride-to-be and two of her relatives, but also the victim, according to The Journal News.

Donning handcuffs and a freshly pressed ensemble consisting of a blue button-down shirt and gray slacks, a clean-shaved Azabache reportedly pleaded not guilty in Ossining Town Court, where Justice Nancy Quinn Koba set bail at $50,000.

“It all just came out at the last minute,” the bride’s 92-year-old grandmother, Josephine DeLuccia told The Journal News and Lohud.com. “He always seemed like a nice guy. I don’t know what happened. You men are all alike. You stink. I hope they send him to jail forever.”

The near-centenarian addedher granddaughter told her Friday morning, “Nanny, don’t worry about me. I’m strong; I’ll survive,” and also shared she planned to hang at the movies with friends, rather than marry the alleged rapist. The Journal News reported most guests received the no-go concerning the wedding on Thursday evening.

“I’m brokenhearted for her,” the grandma cried. “She doesn’t deserve this. She’s such a beautiful, smart girl.”

Azabache hails from Port Chester, while DeLuccia, his ex-betrothed-to-be, makes her home in White Plains, both tony towns in Westchester County, just north of New York City.

Azabache, an Ossining High School educator, is reportedly accused of having sex with a 16-year-old female student twice between March 1 and July 1, although the crimes are said not to have taken place on school grounds or during school hours, but somewhere else within Ossining.

The alleged victim’s family tipped police to the incidents on Wednesday. The Ossining School District was alerted Thursday, according to Lohud.com, and Azabache was arrested Friday, or the day he was scheduled to be married.

Azabache was reassigned from teaching and barred from school grounds, pending the outcome of the legal process, said Ossining Superintendent Raymond Sanchez.

Tony Castro, Azabache’s lawyer, told the Journal News after Friday’s court proceeding: “I just want to note that what he’s being charged with does not involve any forcible compulsion. It involves an alleged incident with a minor, someone who is just under 17 years old.”

Asked about the wedding, Castro reportedly added: “I assumed it was called off. Frankly, that is nothing I discussed with him.”

Century-old photos pose a war puzzle

By hnn

Intriguing photographs have surfaced of a young woman wearing the uniform of a New Zealand military officer in the Somme region of northern France where the horrendous battle of World War I was fought.

Her identity is not known. In one of four photographs which are almost 100 years old, the woman, wearing the distinctive “lemon-squeezer” New Zealand military hat, salutes while holding a cane in front of a tree in a walled garden. In contrast with the usual battlefield pictures, she is standing in a relaxed setting outside a house with shuttered windows.

The woman, who wears a wedding ring, is shown both in uniform and wearing a blouse and skirt, in the four grainy black and white glass negatives found in the village of Hallencourt, which was a base behind the lines during the 1916 battle….

Rock-solid love: Australian woman marries a bridge in France – and even gets the mayor’s blessing

FOX News Video below.

An Australian woman has taken her desire for the ‘strong and silent’-type to a new extreme when she married a bridge.

Jodi Rose married Le Pont du Diable Bridge in Céret, southern France after falling head over heels for the ‘sensual’ 14th century stone structure.

Ms Rose, or Mrs Le Pont du Diable, has spent the past decade travelling the world recording the vibrations in bridge cables with contact microphones and using them to create experimental music.

After visiting dozens of bridges all over the world for her Singing Bridges musical project, she decided this was ‘The One’.

Although her new husband may struggle to express his feelings, newlywed Jodi said ‘his being is very present, and I feel at peace in his strong embrace.’

‘He makes me feel connected to the earth and draws me to rest from my endless nomadic wanderings. He is fixed, stable, rooted to the ground, while I am nomadic, transient, ever on the road.

‘He gives me a safe haven, brings me back to ground myself, and then lets me go again to follow my own path, without trying to keep me tied down or in thrall to his needs or desires. I am devoted to him.’

The pair made their vows at the groom’s entrance. Rose wore a custom bridal gown and veil, and commissioned rings for both her and the bridge.

‘He understands that I love other bridges – and men – ours is a love that embraces the vagaries of life, as materialised in the swirling currents of the river that flows beneath his magnificent body,’ Rose wrote on her website.

‘The Devil’s Bridge is everything I could desire in a husband – sturdy, trustworthy, sensual, kind and handsome,’ she added.

Their union is not legally recognised in France, but Rose claims their marriage is as strong as any other.

‘This is not a decision I undertake lightly, just as our curves complement, we truly bring joy to each other, and the strength of his pylons will always carry me home.’

Ms Rose, who says she is completely devoted to her new husband, have yet to explain how she determined the sex of the bridge.

In ruins of deadly Arizona fire, a wedding ring

Amid the devastation left by the Arizona wildfire that killed 19 Hotshot firefighters and destroyed dozens of homes, an Ohio couple experienced a tiny miracle.

Larry and Patti McCracken of Euclid lost their dream retirement home to the June 30 fire in Yarnell, Ariz., but recovered a sparkling token of their 50 years of marriage when they returned Monday, looking for anything they could salvage of their property.

After searching for hours, one of their daughters found Patti McCracken’s wedding ring underneath a foot of charred rubble. Patti McCracken had gotten in the habit of not wearing the ring because it no longer fit.

Her husband promptly took the ring and proposed marriage again and she — again — said “yes.”

Now, she wears it on her pinkie finger.
