Radwanska defends 'beautiful' naked photo-shoot

Polish tennis star Agnieszka Radwanska on Friday defended her controversial nude photo-shoot which saw her dropped by a Catholic youth movement, claiming the pictures were in good taste.

Radwanska, 24, who makes no secret of her strong Catholic faith, was photographed in the “Body Issue” of ESPN Magazine in profile without a stitch, sitting in a lawn chair by a pool filled with tennis balls.

While not explicit, the nude proved too much for a Catholic group known as Krucjata Mlodych (Youth Crusade), which runs a campaign dubbed “I’m not ashamed of Jesus”.

The young Catholics, who claim more than a million followers, dropped Radwanska last week for what they said was “immoral behaviour” in the ESPN spread, which can be seen at espn.go.com/espn/bodyissue.

But world number four Radwanska insisted the pictures were a celebration of the “beauty of the bodies of the best athletes in the world”.

“My tennis colleagues Serena Williams, Daniela Hantuchova and Vera Zvonareva have all participated in the past,” Radwanska wrote on a statement published on her Facebook page.

“The pictures are certainly not meant to cause offense and to brand them as immoral clearly does not take into account the context of the magazine.

“Moreover, they do not contain any explicit imagery whatsoever. I train extremely hard to keep my body in shape and that’s what the article and the magazine is all about.

“It has been suggested by some members of the press (among others) that I was paid for the photo shoot. This is absolutely not the case. Neither I nor any of the other athletes were paid.

“I agreed to participate to help encourage young people, and especially girls, to exercise, stay in shape and be healthy.”

This year’s beaten Wimbledon semi-finalist previously appeared in a television commercial sponsored by the group in which she spelled out the word “Jesus” with tennis balls and urged young Poles not to be ashamed of their faith.

Other athletes in the buff in the special issue include Puerto Rican motocross champ Tarah Gieger and nine-time major golf champion Gary Player, the oldest model at 77.

Home to the former pope, John Paul II, Poland remains one of Europe’s most devout nations. More than 90 percent of the population declares itself Roman Catholic.

Rock-solid love: Australian woman marries a bridge in France – and even gets the mayor’s blessing

FOX News Video below.

An Australian woman has taken her desire for the ‘strong and silent’-type to a new extreme when she married a bridge.

Jodi Rose married Le Pont du Diable Bridge in Céret, southern France after falling head over heels for the ‘sensual’ 14th century stone structure.

Ms Rose, or Mrs Le Pont du Diable, has spent the past decade travelling the world recording the vibrations in bridge cables with contact microphones and using them to create experimental music.

After visiting dozens of bridges all over the world for her Singing Bridges musical project, she decided this was ‘The One’.

Although her new husband may struggle to express his feelings, newlywed Jodi said ‘his being is very present, and I feel at peace in his strong embrace.’

‘He makes me feel connected to the earth and draws me to rest from my endless nomadic wanderings. He is fixed, stable, rooted to the ground, while I am nomadic, transient, ever on the road.

‘He gives me a safe haven, brings me back to ground myself, and then lets me go again to follow my own path, without trying to keep me tied down or in thrall to his needs or desires. I am devoted to him.’

The pair made their vows at the groom’s entrance. Rose wore a custom bridal gown and veil, and commissioned rings for both her and the bridge.

‘He understands that I love other bridges – and men – ours is a love that embraces the vagaries of life, as materialised in the swirling currents of the river that flows beneath his magnificent body,’ Rose wrote on her website.

‘The Devil’s Bridge is everything I could desire in a husband – sturdy, trustworthy, sensual, kind and handsome,’ she added.

Their union is not legally recognised in France, but Rose claims their marriage is as strong as any other.

‘This is not a decision I undertake lightly, just as our curves complement, we truly bring joy to each other, and the strength of his pylons will always carry me home.’

Ms Rose, who says she is completely devoted to her new husband, have yet to explain how she determined the sex of the bridge.

Habit Formation: The 21-Day Myth

By Jason Selk, Contributor

The habits of highly successful people allow them to consistently perform behaviors that breed success. Everything from eating well to responsible spending to task completion and beyond requires habits that make such behaviors part of our daily life. Michael Jordan spent his off seasons taking hundreds of jump shots a day. Cy Young award-winning Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay routinely does a 90-minute workout before practices. The young Venus and Serena Williams would wake up at 6:00 am to hit tennis balls before school. Highly successful people have learned to develop good habits, and it takes discipline, courage and hard work on a daily basis to keep those habits in place. It makes perfect sense to adopt habits that will facilitate success, yet, why are some so difficult to adopt?

Cover Stories: The Best and Worst-Selling Magazines of 2012

By Justin Fenner

Movie stars and magazine covers go hand in hand, but according to new numbers from the Alliance for Audited Media, some of the best newsstand sale numbers for 2012 belong to musicians and supermodels.

For example, Lady Gaga‘s September cover of Vogue has been the title’s best-selling issue of 2012. Gwen Stefani was Harper’s Bazaar‘s best-seller in September, and Brooke Shield‘s cover of Architectural Digest was also a hit on the newsstand.

At the low end, Kim Kardashian and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe failed to deliver high sales for Glamour, and Vogue’s Olympic-themed June cover – starring athletes Hope Solo, Ryan Lochte, and Serena Williams – was the title’s worst-selling issue of the year.

A look at whose covers sold well – and whose didn’t – here in the gallery.
