By The Huffington Post News Editors

It was five years ago today that Jay-Z put a ring on it.

On April 4, 2008, the “Watch the Throne” rapper and longtime love Beyonce wed in an intimate ceremony, surrounded by family and close pals such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Bey’s fellow Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Since then, the hip-hop power couple went on to become proud parents, giving birth to baby Blue Ivy in January 2012. As of late, they can be seen doting on their adorable daughter, mingling with high-profile friends like the Obamas and generally conquering the world. Fashion Darling Frank Ocean Now Modeling For Band of Outsiders

By Justin Fenner

If his front-row presence at the Fall 2013 shows in Paris wasn’t indication enough, it’s getting clearer that the industry loves Frank Ocean. Band of Outsiders‘ Scott Sternberg verified that affection by casting Ocean in the brand’s Spring 2013 Polaroid campaign.

Ocean posed for the images in looks from the brand’s Spring 2013 collection at the Los Angeles Times building earlier this month. Four of Sternberg’s shots were released Wednesday, but the brand plans to unveil a total of 23 images on its Instagram and Tumblr accounts in the coming days.

The singer joins a roster of stars including Michelle Williams, Amy Adams, Jason Schwartzman, and Andrew Garfield, among others, who have posed for the campaign in the past. A look at the first batch here in the gallery.

Weekend Box Office: ‘Oz: The Great And Powerful’ Has A Huge Opening

By The Huffington Post News Editors

“Oz: The Great and Powerful” took a major lead at the weekend box office Friday as the film opened at 3,912 theaters. The James Franco-led “Oz” brought in $24.1 million, a total which THR reports puts the film on pace for a weekend gross in the range of $69 to $74 million, with some sources expecting totals to reach $80 million. “Oz,” which received a CinemaScore of B+ from moviegoers, had a production budget of $215 million. The reboot of the classic “Wizard of Oz” tale also stars Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz, and has reportedly already been given the go-ahead for a sequel.

“Oz: The Great and Powerful” blew away its competition on Friday, with the second place film, “Jack the Giant Slayer” making more than $20 million less than “Oz.” “Jack” made $2.5 million across 3,525 theaters on Friday, bringing its total domestic gross to $36.3 million since its release. “Jack” has had a disappointing box office run so far, as the film had a production budget of $195 million.

Also opening this week was “Dead Man Down,” a thriller starring Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard. The film had a rough opening, taking the number three spot on Friday with $1.8 million at 2,188 theaters.

Zach Braff Talks Filming ‘Oz’ In Metro Detroit During Reddit ‘AMA’

By The Huffington Post News Editors

Actor Zach Braff had some kind words for Detroit during a Thursday AMA with fans on Reddit. But he also had criticism for Michigan’s film industry in his “Ask Me Anything” discussion.

The actor, best known for his roles in “Garden State” and “Scrubs,” got a chance to check out the Detroit area while filming “Oz,” which was released Friday. Directed by Michigan native Sam Raimi, it functions as a prequel of sorts to “The Wizard of Oz” and stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. In the film, Braff plays a flying monkey.

Here’s what Braff had to say about Detroit during his AMA:

Michelle Williams’ Hair: Actress Growing Out Short Hairdo

By The Huffington Post News Editors

She’s rocked the short hairdo for six years now, but Michelle Williams says she’s finally ready to move on. The Oscar-nominated actress, who is promoting her new film “Oz the Great and the Powerful,” confessed to E! News that she was finally ready to grow out her trademark close-cropped short hair.

“I think I’m ready. It’s on its way, slowly but surely,” the 32-year-old actress says in a video interview. “[The transition is] why I’ve stayed with short hair for so long. The mid-stage is insufferable. It’s really hard on your self-esteem.”

Williams added that she was taking a break from work in the process. “I’m really happy to not have anything looming — except my hair. I’m really working on my hair growing out,” she said.

Stoking the Star-Maker Machinery

The AnOther magazine party at London‘s Café Royal was a celebration of the Michelle Williams-fronted Spring-Summer issue. That’s what the invite said, at least. But with no Michelle Williams to raise a glass to, the lavish dinner, thrown with aplomb by Jefferson Hack, was really just a chance for the style set to let off some mid-fashion-month steam, even if the overall atmosphere at the London shows this season has been lighter and less stressed than usual. Kristen McMenamy, Amanda Harlech, Cara Delevigne, and co. (not to mention the party’s sponsor, Belvedere Vodka) were doing their damnedest to kill the week’s mellow vibe, but it was nonetheless the talk of the evening. So what gives? “The shows are on time!” Natalie Massenet, the new head of the BFC, told us. “That instantly relaxes people and eases the tension. People do like order and organization—and a good time, like now, which is what you can do if everything runs smoothly, and if a job is not only wrapped up on time but well done.” Drinks all around.
