We have 2 window wells on either side of our 2 storey 1400 sg/ft home, the previous owners dugout the gravel in the window wells because apparently they didn’t believe that the gravel/loose stone was supposed to as close as it was to the bottom of the window. The good thing is the one window well drains just fine but needs to be tidied up with some more loose gravel, the not so good thing is the east facing window well doesn’t drain completely and has pools of standing water in it. This will become a huge problem in the winter if that water freezes and expands and crack the foundation.
Now I dug out where the drain line should have been, but either it was removed or it was never there. But I live in Edmonton, AB and it is my understanding that all houses will have a weeping tile system in place and the window wells will have a drain line.
My question to anyone that may be able to help is, if there was no drain line does that mean I need to dig out until I hit the weeping tile? That is if there is one on that side of the house. Or can I just auger a hole to the gravel footing and install a drain line? Or does it have to connect directly to the weeping tile?

By Russell Flannery, Forbes Staff China once again this year can boast one of the world’s best-performing economies, yet a weak stock market has made it difficult for investors to make money. To learn about where investors should look for relatively good returns, I recently talked to seasoned Asia hand Danny L. Lee, a managing director at Bain Capital Asia. The Guangzhou native moved to the U.S. as a teenager and graduated from Columbia before later finding his way back to Asia in 1997. After working at Lehman Brothers and AB, he has settled down since 2006 at Bain, where he’s helped to make some of the company’s $1 billion of investments in Asia. Greater China-related companies in its portfolio include Hong Kong-listed GA Pac, a rival of Tetra Pak, media firm Sinomedia, and Gome Electrical Appliances, one of China’s biggest electrical appliance retailers. Excerpts from the conversation follow.

Businesses and privacy advocates are squaring off over a proposed law that would make California the first state in the nation to give people the right to see all the information companies have on them and to find out who the data is shared with.
Groups such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the American Civil Liberties Union say California Assembly bill AB 1291 would help consumers decide whether they wanted to continue doing business with a company, based on the way it handled their personal information.
To opponents such as the California Chamber of Commerce and TechAmerica, the bill is too broad in defining the information covered and would open businesses up to frivolous lawsuits.
On Monday, lawmakers amended the bill, introduced in February by Democratic Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal, to increase its chances of getting through the Legislature. To opponents, the changes were not enough.

Citing significant progress made in joint talks over its proposed acquisition of Grupo Modelo, brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev said all the parties, including the Justice Department, jointly asked the court to extend a stay due to expire March 19, as they will probably complete their negotiations.
Anheuser-Busch, which is trying to acquire the remaining 50% stake in the Mexican brewer it doesn’t already own for $20.1 billion, originally agreed to sell Modelo’s existing 50% interest in Crown Imports to co-owner Constellation Brands , but the FTC objected because of antitrust and anti-competitiveness concerns.
AB InBev subsequently modified the proposal and agreed to sell Compania Cervecera de Coahuila, Grupo Modelo‘s brewery in Piedras Negras, Mexico, and grant perpetual brand licenses to Constellation for $2.9 billion. Modelo’s U.S. business would be completely divested to ensure independence of supply for Crown Imports. It would also provide Constellation with complete control of the production of the Modelo brands for marketing and distribution in the United States.
AB, Grupo Modelo, Constellation, Crown, and Justice have been in discussions to resolve the antitrust concerns. They requested that the court extend the stay until April 9. If the parties reach an agreement, they will file a proposed consent judgment and related documentation with the court, though Anheuser-Busch InBev offers a reminder that it cannot guarantee the discussions will be successful.

California voters are poised to become the largest electorate to decide whether to support a constitutional amendment that would overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling.
California Assemblymember Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) introduced a bill, AB 644, Wednesday to put a measure on the state’s 2014 ballot urging Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to overturn the 2010 Citizens United ruling, which lifted restrictions on political spending by corporations and labor unions. Independent spending in federal elections has exploded since the ruling.
“It’s one thing for a legislator to say he wants this,” Wieckowski said. “It’s another thing for Congress to have direct instruction from the voters. There comes a tipping point where people are upset with billionaires having a disproportionate impact on our electoral system.”

I’m trying to call a variable with a variable in the name without having to make a third variable.
For example:
path=AB
legAB=50
leg$path
I want to be able to call leg$path variable and get the value “50”
I am aware that if I created another variable I could do this using the ${! } notation:
var=leg$path
echo ${!leg}=50
However, I want to be able to miss out this last step. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Dan

If there’s one thing about the Super Bowl that’s truly predictable, it’s the presence of Anheuser-Busch InBev. The beer giant’s flagship brand, Bud Light, will run not one but two 60-second ads during the big game, and it’s also transformed a New Orleans hotel into “Bud Light Hotel.” Meanwhile, fellow AB brand Budweiser will also make its usual appearance: It will run a 60-second ad depicting a newborn Clydesdale horse, and the company is currently asking social media users to help name the…
