Music to Our Ears

The Bible refers to the second coming of Christ many times, from Genesis to Revelation. It is mentioned 1,800 times in the Old Testament and another 300 times in the New Testament. Statistically, one in every 25 Bible verses refers to the Second Coming. For every prophecy in the Bible about the first coming of Jesus, there are eight prophecies about the second coming of Jesus. One message is clear in Scripture: Christ will come back again to this earth. …read more

Pope presides over Easter Vigil service

Pope Francis is celebrating a trimmed back Easter Vigil service after having reached out to Muslims and women during a Holy Week in which he has begun to put his mark on the Catholic Church.

Francis processed into a darkened and silent St. Peter’s Basilica at the start of the Saturday service, which recalls the period between Christ’s crucifixion on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter Sunday. One of the most dramatic moments of the Easter Vigil service — when the pope would share the light of his candle with others until the entire basilica twinkled — was shortened this year as were some of the Old Testament readings.

The Vatican has said these provisions are in keeping with Francis’ aim to not have his Masses go on too long.

RNC Chairman Tells GOP Not “To Act Like Old Testament Heretics” On Same-Sex Marriage

Republican Elephant 2 SC RNC Chairman Tells GOP Not “To Act Like Old Testament Heretics” On Same Sex Marriage

I was appalled when Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman came out last week and endorsed same-sex marriage because his son is a homosexual. Portman decided that supporting his son’s sinful lifestyle was more important than what his faith says on the subject.

However, after hearing what Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee told Susan Page from USA Today, I am ready to drop my affiliation with the GOP and take my vote to either the Libertarian or Independent Parties.

Page asked Priebus about the GOP 2016 platform and whether it would endorse same-sex marriage.

Page: “Karl Rove said in a Sunday TV interview that he thought it was possible, that he could imagine the 2016 Republican presidential nominee supporting same-sex marriage. Can you imagine that? Is that conceivable to you?”

Priebus: “I’m not sure, you know that I can’t look through that crystal ball, but I think you see people like Marco Rubio and Rand Paul are talking about states’ rights and the Tenth Amendment. Obviously you hear a lot of that in our Party. My position is that marriage is between a man and a woman but my other position is that you treat people with dignity and respect, love and grace, and so I think they’re all compatible with each other. I don’t believe we need to act like Old Testament heretics either…”

European women marry, give hope to Samaritans

The Samaritans, a rapidly dwindling sect dating to biblical times, have opened their insular community to brides imported from eastern Europe in a desperate quest to preserve their ancient culture.

Five young women from Russia and Ukraine have moved to this hilltop village in recent years to marry local men, breathing new life into the community that has been plagued by genetic diseases caused by generations of intermarriage.

Husni Cohen, a 69-year-old village elder, said the marriages are not ideal, since there is always a risk that the newcomers may decide to leave. But in a community whose population has fallen to roughly 360 people, he saw little choice.

“If this is the only solution to our problem, we must take this road. We Samaritans don’t have enough women to marry, so I can’t tell our young men not to marry and not to start a family,” he said. He warned, however, that if the families don’t adhere to the Samaritan religion and traditions, “then our future is in danger.”

For Alla Evdokimova, so far, so good. She left Ukraine, married and joined the community two years ago. “I came here and found a big family,” said Evdokimova, 26.

The Samaritans have lived in the Holy Land for thousands of years. They are probably best known for the parable of the Good Samaritan in the New Testament Book of Luke. Samaritans believe themselves to be the remnants of Israelites exiled by the Assyrians in 722 B.C. They practice a religion closely linked to Judaism and venerate a version of the Old Testament, but they are not Jews.

In the fourth and fifth centuries, the Samaritan population is thought to have topped 1.5 million, but religious persecution and economic hardship had nearly erased it by the early 20th century. Today, there are 750 Samaritans — split between communities in the Israeli city of Holon, near Tel Aviv, and near the West Bank city of Nablus on Mount Gerizim, the group’s holiest place and site of its yearly Passover sacrifice. The Samaritans, who hold both Israeli and Palestinian residency rights, try to steer clear of politics.

Their numbers have been further reduced by the decision by 10 women in recent years to marry outside the community, resulting in excommunication. Today, males outnumber females roughly three to one.

With a limited pool of potential partners, it is common …read more

The Wrath Of God

By Dale-Dawson

Hagee SC The Wrath of God

I make no apology for writing about God and things in the Bible that (I think) relate to the current world in which we live and the mess we have created and are continuing to compound.  If you are offended that I bring GOD into the equation , I am (shallowly) so sorry but simply will not apologize.  It is what it is, and we are where we are in history.

I check out many informational websites and TV programs, both secular and Christian on a daily basis.  Recently, I watched a sermon by one of my Christian heroes, John Hagee, who pastors a large church in Houston, Texas. I like Hagee because he does not ‘mince words.’  John Hagee does what very few (whether Christian or secular talking heads) do.  HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS from a Biblical perspective.

In his preaching/teaching, he said that the United States had “crossed the line” (spiritually) when our current Administration in Washington, under the leadership (?) of President Obama,  endorsed ‘same sex’ marriage.  I applaud Hagee’s stand because most ‘religious’ tax-exempt organizations are way too concerned about their tax-exempt status to actually take a stand on anything.  That is because the IRS, the ACLU, our current President, and his administration have intimidated them into a state of fear, numbness, and ineffectiveness.

Our so-called “leader” is now considering going to the Supreme Court to have California’s 2008 ban on same-sex marriage ruled unconstitutional.  If it wasn’t so pathetic, it would actually be humorous that a President who has ignored our founding document, the rule of law, our Congress, and the will of the (taxpaying legal) people in his first four years would suddenly embrace our Constitution. That would (or should), to any thinking individual, whether liberal or conservative, appear to be the peak of hypocrisy in a national leader.

If you know anything about the Bible, you are, or should be, familiar with the destruction of the Old Testament cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of God’s disgust with how the majority of the inhabitants of those cities had turned from following Him in pursuit of their own perverted sexual lusts.  Maybe you muse at this bit of history, but I doubt that there is much to laugh about in the eyes of God.

Our nation has silently stood by while over 55 million babies have been murdered since our Supreme Court said it was OK (in Roe vs. Wade) to kill kids in the womb. More recently, the courts have said that it is OK to kill them once their heads are exiting the mother’s body, so long as the little person is pushed back in so that the “doctor” can stick a surgical instrument into their defenseless brain to kill them.  Do you still support this ideology?

We have stood silently by as our egomaniac  leader has pushed his socialist agenda on our nation.  We have continued to sit back on our fat apathies while allowing our nation to step completely outside the will of God.
