Deadly Premonition Could Come to PC

The entrancingly bizarre Deadly Premonition may finally make its way to PC, following a Director’s Cut re-release on PS3 earlier this year.

Publisher Rising Star Games has made the game available to vote for on Steam Greenlight, giving potential players the chance to decide the game’s fate. It promises better graphics, a new scene from Swery65 (Deadly Premonition’s creator), new bonus DLC and Achievements/Steam Trading Cards over the recent PS3 Director’s Cut.

If you haven’t tried Deadly Premonition yet, looks like they’re just going to keep releasing it until you do. And you should – it’s the kind of game that just doesn’t get made anymore, the deeply flawed and deeply fascinating product of one man’s vision. Wouldn’t you say so, Zach?

Deadly Premonition Brings the Weird to PlayStation 3

2010’s low-budget, bargain-priced, beyond-bizarre Deadly Premonition is finally heading to the PlayStation 3 in Director’s Cut form. For PS3 owners unfamiliar with the cult hit, here’s the Cliff’s Notes recap: The one-time 360 exclusive is an open-world murder mystery/ survival horror hybrid set in a Twin Peaks-like town; an eccentric FBI suit chats-up quirky townsfolk, gathers clues, combats shadowy ghouls, and argues the merits of DVD movie extras with an imaginary friend named Zach.

None of this, however, is as strange as its critical reception. It earned a 2/10 on IGN, while other scores hit as high as 100 on Metacritic. While many critics couldn’t look past its lackluster production values and clunky gameplay, its campy charm captivated others. With Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, developer Access Games is aiming to add to that latter group by fixing what alienated the average gamer, while retaining the alluring weirdness that clicked with its modest, albeit rabid following.
