Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 36 points for the Knicks, who were looking for a 4-0 sweep in the first round series, but fell short after rallying from a 20-point second half deficit. The hero? Jason Terry, who scored nine of his 18 points in the overtime period to carry Boston to the win. Jeff Green added 26 points for the hosts, who now trail 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.

THE FACTS: Power forward Carmelo Anthony and shooting guard J.R. Smith each scored 31 points as the New York Knicks cruised to a 101-91 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Anthony added a game-high 14 rebounds and two assists in 30 electric minutes, while New York small forward Iman Shumpert chipped in eight points and a career-best 11 boards. Point guard Kyrie Irving paced Cleveland with 31 points and six assists, but only made 11-of-27 field goal attempts. The Atlantic Division champion Knicks hold a three-game lead over Indiana in the race for second place in the Eastern Conference with three contests to play.

Notebook: Bulls 118, Knicks 111 (OT)

THE FACTS: For the second time in two weeks, the Chicago Bulls ended a lengthy win streak by its opponent at home. With a season-high 35 points from Nate Robinson, the Bulls beat the New York Knicks 118-111 in overtime Thursday, ending the Knicks’ winning streak at 13 games. On March 27, the Bulls ended the Miami Heat‘s 27-game win streak, also at the United Center. Jimmy Butler scored 22 points and had 14 rebounds, while Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 15 boards for the Bulls. Carmelo Anthony had his sixth straight game of at least 35 points but needed overtime to do it, finishing with 36 to go with 19 rebounds. J.R. Smith had 28 points and 14 boards for the Knicks.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Carmelo Anthony had 36 points and 12 rebounds, J.R. Smith hit a pair of shot-clock beaters in the final 2 minutes and the New York Knicks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 125-120 on Sunday for their 12th straight win.

Smith connected on a 23-foot jumper from the right wing as the 24-second clock expired to put New York up 117-113 with 1:30 to play, then swished a 3-pointer with 56.8 seconds left that all but sealed New York‘s 50th win of the season.

Smith drained two shots including a 3-pointer in the closing moments and the Knicks extended their winning streak to 12 games with a thrilling 125-120 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Smith finished with 22 points but it was the play of Carmelo Anthony that sealed things for New York. Syracuse Final Four Berth Secured With 55-39 Win Over Marquette In Elite Eight (PHOTOS)

WASHINGTON (AP) — Using its trapping, shot-challenging 2-3 zone defense to perfect effect, No. 4-seeded Syracuse shut down No. 3 Marquette 55-39 in the East Regional final Saturday, reaching the Final Four for the first time in a decade.

Coach Jim Boeheim and the Orange (30-9) haven’t been to the national semifinals since a freshman named Carmelo Anthony led them to the 2003 championship.

Fittingly, a matchup between schools from the soon-to-break-apart, rough-and-tumble Big East became quite a struggle to score. Syracuse was led by senior forward James Southerland‘s 16 points.
