The Brooklyn Nets shocked the NBA last month when the team swung a trade with the Boston Celtics to acquire Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. The trio arrives in New York with championship rings, 25 combined All-Star game appearances, MVP and Sixth Man of the Year awards, as well as countless other accolades. The group was introduced Thursday at a press conference at the Barclays Center. Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov made a surprise appearance after jetting in from Moscow and he made it clear what his expectations are. “I will [only] be proud when we win the championship,” Prokhorov said. “For me there is only one place: First place.” …read more

THE FACTS: Paul Pierce scored 29 points, helping the Boston Celtics withstand a furious second half comeback by the New York Knicks and escape with a 97-90 overtime win. Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 36 points for the Knicks, who were looking for a 4-0 sweep in the first round series, but fell short after rallying from a 20-point second half deficit. The hero? Jason Terry, who scored nine of his 18 points in the overtime period to carry Boston to the win. Jeff Green added 26 points for the hosts, who now trail 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.

J.R. Smith Ejected: Elbow To Jason Terry Ends Game 3 For Knicks’ Swingman (VIDEO)

BOSTON (AP) — New York Knicks swingman J.R. Smith was ejected from Friday night’s playoff game against Boston for elbowing Celtics guard Jason Terry in the face.

Terry was guarding Smith with about 7 minutes left in the game when Smith swung his elbows widely, catching Terry in the face. Terry popped up and had to be restrained by teammates, coach Doc Rivers and referee Dan Crawford.

The officials immediately called a foul, and after video review ruled it a Flagrant 2, meaning an automatic ejection.
