TravelCenters of America Opens Broaster Chicken at TA Travel Center in Tekonsha, Michigan

WESTLAKE, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)– TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, has announced the opening of a Broaster® Chicken restaurant at the TA location at I-69, Exit 25 in Tekonsha, Michigan. The new location will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, and will employ approximately eight crew members.

Broaster Chicken® uses their unique method of cooking — a technique that was invented by the Broaster Company‘s founder. Broasting is a revolutionary method of preparing chicken and fish with special marinades, seasonings and breading, then finishing it in a unique pressure-fryer designed to cook the food in its own natural juices. Broaster Chicken has a world famous taste, texture and delicious flavor.

Guests at the TA Tekonsha Broaster Chicken will enjoy Broasted chicken, wings, chicken tenders, corn dogs, spicy or regular boneless wings, potato wedges, Broasted fish, and a selection of side dishes.

The Broaster Chicken quick-service restaurant offering complements the highly regarded full-service Country Pride® restaurant at this location.

TravelCenters of America Completes Its 1,000 th on-Island Bulk Def Dispenser Installation and $100 Million Investment in Fuel Islands

WESTLAKE, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)– TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters), operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, has announced the completion of installation of its 1,000th bulk on-island Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dispenser.

The on-island installations include an industry-best dispensing technology that provides professional drivers with a more efficient fueling process. Called the “DEF+1″, the dispensers pump both diesel fuel and DEF. Drivers can authorize diesel and DEF transactions at the same time at the same dispenser, pump both products in any order, and pay for both fills at the same time. The “DEF+1″ dispenser also saves time because it eliminates the need for drivers to leave the diesel island to accommodate both fills. In addition, drivers with refrigerated trailers can dispense diesel to their vehicle, diesel to their refrigeration unit and DEF to their DEF reservoir, in a single transaction without leaving the fuel island.

“Our installation of on-island DEF dispensers not only uses the latest, most efficient dispensing equipment available, we also took the time to eliminate product and equipment failure risk for drivers by using underground storage and piping. In addition, our DEF installations were completed hand-in-hand with the installation of new, higher-speed diesel dispensers; our investment in these technologies, totaling about $100 million, was made to serve our customers better than anyone else on the interstate,” said Tom O’Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters.

TravelCenters expects that, with the exception of two sites where local zoning has delayed completion of planned installation, 100% of its operated locations will offer on-island bulk DEF by the end of May 2013, and that all locations will offer on-island bulk DEF by the end of June 2013. WESTLAKE, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)– TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters) operator of the TA® and Petro Stopping Centers® travel center brands, has released an update to its TruckSmart® Mobile App. The update, 2.4.4, provides professional drivers with new and more user-friendly features.

TruckSmart’s update includes the ability for drivers to create and save their ‘favorite’ TA and Petro locations for quick and easy viewing. Additionally, guests can see the local Hometown Favorites prepared by full-service Petro Iron Skillet® and TA restaurants on each location’s amenities page. And, amenities icons can now be pressed and held for more detailed descriptions. Drivers can also call the Reserve-It™ Parking Reservation number with the touch of a button.

“We receive a lot of calls from drivers who love using the app,” said Tom O’Brien, President and CEO of TravelCenters. “The new version implements many of their suggestions and adds other features, too,” he added.

All of the features that have made TruckSmart an industry-leading app have remained, including the Instant Shower feature. With the app, UltraONE® Driver Rewards Program members can reserve a shower through the app, pay for it with credits or Points, be placed in the queue, and receive an email when the shower is ready … all without stepping foot in the travel center.

UltraONE account information is still readily available on the Balances screen, which now shows YOUR Rewards Program ‘visits,’ and the number of available parking spaces and showers at each site are always available. One-touch calling to RoadSquad Connect™ anywhere, anytime, emergency roadside service remains at the user’s fingertips.

More than 180,000 users have downloaded the free TruckSmart app to their iPhone or Android smartphone. Drivers without a smartphone on these platforms can access the app through any HTML5 browser at www.trucksmartapp.com.
