John Lewis Comic-Con Appearance Draws Long Line Of Visitors (VIDEO)

After a month that saw Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) at an emotional peak in Washington over the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act decision, the Congressman entered a completely different venue to promote a unique book educating Americans on his civil rights struggle.

Fox 5 San Diego reports that Lewis was at Comic-Con this weekend to promote “March” — a graphic novel he co-wrote with aide Andrew Aydin, describing his life fighting through segregated times in the South.

Roll Call adds that reaction to Lewis’ arrival included lots of praise, as more than 100 folks camped out in anticipation of his appearance.

Mitch McConnell Targeted In March Madness-Themed DSCC Ad

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee started its 2014 campaign season with an attack on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) this week, launching a March Madness-themed ad campaign pinning him as a Washington insider, Roll Call reported Thursday.

The ad, which simulates a tightly contested basketball game, accuses McConnell of “playing for the Washington special interests” against Kentucky, which is “trying to move up” but is “blocked by McConnell.”

The 60-second radio ad, which will air locally from March 28 to April 3, is the DSCC‘s first ad campaign of the 2014 cycle. The DSCC has not disclosed the exact size of the ad buy, but told Roll Call that it cost “five figures or more.” The ad’s theme takes advantage of the basketball tournament’s timing, as Louisville faces off against the Oregon Ducks on Friday night.

Scott Romney Considering 2014 Senate Run In Michigan: Report

The Romney name may appear on the ballot once again in 2014. Roll Call reported Friday that former presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s brother Scott is considering a run for retiring Sen. Carl Levin’s (D-Mich.) seat.

According to the report, a Michigan GOP source close to Scott RomneyMitt Romney’s older brother — has expressed interest in running. Aaron Blake of the Washington Post later reported that he had been told the same.

Scott Romney, 71, a Michigan State University and Harvard Law alumnus, currently works as a corporate attorney at the law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP in Detroit. He made a public political appearance at last year’s Republican National Convention, announcing Michigan’s delegation.
