MELBOURNE, Fla. & ROCHESTER, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Harris Corporation (NYS: HRS) , an international communications and information technology company, has received a $29 million order to provide a nation in Asia with Falcon III® wideband tactical radios. The radios will provide the country’s armed forces with critical country-wide data communications and improved mission capabilities as part of an overall modernization effort.

The nation is acquiring the company’s new RF-7800H high-frequency wideband manpack and RF-7800W High-Capacity Line-of-Sight radios. The new RF-7800H is the world’s first HF radio with high-speed wideband data capabilities. These advanced capabilities allow users to efficiently transmit large data files such as video images over very long range beyond-line-of-sight links. The radio is 20 percent smaller and lighter and offers data rates that are 10 times greater than other HF radios.

MELBOURNE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Harris Corporation (NYS: HRS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have developed and successfully deployed a new tool that will help track and report anomalies in critical weather satellite information. Weather forecasters, emergency managers, scientists and other environmental data users throughout the western hemisphere rely on the accuracy and availability of this information to rapidly analyze and disseminate weather information to the public.

The Product Anomaly, Ticket, Relationship, Organization, and Notification (PATRON) tool was created for the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite — R Series (GOES-R) Ground Segment but was immediately implemented to support other environmental satellites in operation today. PATRON is a trouble reporting and tracking system for satellite weather products created by the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service’s Office of Satellite Products and Operations (OSPO). Any abnormal occurrences in the process of receiving instrument data from the satellite, processing and formatting the data into usable weather products, and distributing the weather products to end users are considered anomalies.

As part of its trouble reporting capabilities, PATRON has a relational database that contains the definitions of all NOAA satellites, onboard instruments, ground system computers, products generated from the data of each instrument, and the subject matter experts related to each product. By integrating all of this data, PATRON enables users to analyze the impacts of product-related anomalies across the entire system.

PATRON was developed collaboratively by Harris, the GOES-R Ground Segment prime contractor; the GOES-R Ground Segment Project Data Operations Support Team; and the OSPO/Satellite Products and Services Division. A four-month, agile development approach was used, which included participation by operators who are using the tool.

The new Falcon RF-330E delivers voice, data and situational awareness to the squad member and is the smallest and lightest soldier radio addressing the requirements of these key Department of Defense programs.

The RF-330E is a lightweight, wireless radio for connecting front-line soldiers to the tactical Internet to facilitate command and control. The radio delivers real-time position location information and multiple talk groups, while also supporting additional combat applications.

The RF-330E utilizes the same widely fielded battery and charging systems as the Harris Falcon III® AN/PRC-152A, easing the logistical burden, reducing sustainment costs, and lightening the soldier’s load. The radio leverages Harris’ expertise as the leading tactical radio provider to the U.S. Department of Defense, while taking advantage of the broad range of tactical radio accessories already available.

The increased ceiling provides the U.S. government with greater flexibility in acquiring Harris radios, accessories, systems and services to assist international partners with their mission-critical communication needs.

Under the contract, Harris provides military and land mobile radio systems to international partners of the U.S. State Department and U.S. Department of Defense. The contract is part of the U.S. government‘s Foreign Military Sales program, which supports coalition building and interoperability through sales of defense equipment, training and services.

MELBOURNE, Fla. & BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– HarrisCorporation (NYSE: HRS) has received a $42 million contract from Chester County, Pennsylvania to deploy and maintain an emergency communications system that will deliver superior coverage, interoperability with surrounding radio systems and the capacity to meet future growth. Harris, an international communications and information technology company, will install a Project 25 (P25) Phase II system – the most advanced technology available – to meet the county’s needs.

Harris will install remote transmitter and receiver sites and modify the microwave system that connects the remote sites to the 9-1-1 operations center in the county Government Services Center and the South Coatesville Site. In addition, Harris will replace the county’s 9-1-1 consoles and equipment for the emergency responders, including new mobile radios, portable radios and control stations for emergency responder applications. Harris also will maintain the new system for eight years after implementation is complete.

The Harris P25 Phase 2 system is part of the VIDA® network, a unified Internet Protocol-based voice and data communication system based on APCO P25 industry standards. VIDA delivers full IP management features, including interoperability without intervention of console operators, IP consoles, and other benefits inherent in open IP architecture systems.

The authorization represents a major milestone in one of the world’s most ambitious efforts to integrate health information, involving two major healthcare systems that are pioneers in electronic medical record keeping.

Harris completed the Critical Design Review process and achieved Authorization to Operate for the initial deployment of the Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) suite that will support information sharing between the VA and the DoD. The SOA will enable new types of clinical collaboration and integration of legacy data in standard interfaces that help users to exchange information in real time, without needing to change source data or displays.

The Authorization to Operate enables Harris to deploy the solution in facilities in San Antonio, Texas and Hampton Roads, Virginia. The rollout approach helps to optimize the capability before deploying it more broadly to VA and DoD facilities worldwide.

This authorization milestone is part of a multi-year, $80 million healthcare integration contract awarded to Harris in March 2012. The contract helps the VA and DoD streamline administration and record keeping, exchange health information, contain costs, track and manage care and enhance outcomes for millions of active duty and retired military personnel and their families.
