The Brooklyn Nets shocked the NBA last month when the team swung a trade with the Boston Celtics to acquire Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry. The trio arrives in New York with championship rings, 25 combined All-Star game appearances, MVP and Sixth Man of the Year awards, as well as countless other accolades. The group was introduced Thursday at a press conference at the Barclays Center. When billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, alpha oligarch and partner of Jay-Z, comes to New York, he typically nabs the 52nd-floor penthouse suite at the top of the Four Seasons hotel in midtown Manhattan, which goes for $35,000 a night. It has nine rooms, and when I meet Prokhorov, he’s relaxing his 6-foot-8 frame on a couch in the dining area. Two Russian billionaires are the possible bidders for metals magnate Mikhail Prokhorov‘s 37.8% stake in the country’s largest gold miner, Polyus Gold International Ltd. (PGIL.LN), in a deal being reviewed by regulators at the U.K.’s takeover panel, business daily newspaper Vedomosti reports.
