THE FACTS: Darren Collison scored 25 points off the bench Wednesday as the Dallas Mavericks avoided their first losing season since 1999-2000 with a 99-87 victory against the New Orleans Hornets at the American Airlines Center. Dirk Nowitzki added 16 points and nine rebounds and Shawn Marion had 15 points for Dallas (41-41).

The win kept Memphis (55-26) in the hunt for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs and also snapped a streak of 12 straight winning seasons by Dallas (40-41).
