Dialog box in korn shell scripting

Does dialog box works on all kind of shells? I am using korn shell in Linux .
For me dialog is not working 🙂 is there any particular syntax or do we need to have particular OS version or shell env?

How to wire 2 motors for both polarity reversing and series/parallel

I’m looking to upgrade my sons ride-on toy to handle stronger motors. The ride-on toy has a wiring harness rated for 30A. What I want to accomplish is the same thing but for handling 60A of 12V current. There is a HI/LO shifter/switch that simply changes the motors from series to parallel and also a polarity reversing switch for reverse.

I have switched the stock 550 size motors to a higher torque set and they draw about 50A when climbing small hills, the stockers pull just under 30A. He can run around by himself but if he takes a passenger then he starts tripping breakers.

What I had in mind is using the factory on/off accel pedal, shifter w/ reverse to handle the 12V signal leads for some 60A relays. The accel pedal is easy and I have that drawn up, but using separate relays for the series/parallel switching is challenging at least for me, since I need to incorporate a reverse.

There is also a small ground wire that is connected back to motor POS + to allow for braking.

Here’s a sketch of what I’m working on…the factory wiring is on the left and what I have been working on is on the right. The Polarity reversing relay is a borrowed pic and could serve as a reverse either solo or using two relays. Not something I have but is something I have found that handles high current.

The factory shifter has a dual-layer buss bar in the housing which routes the circuits as needed which makes this project slightly difficult to replicate.

I have ample room to run extra wires and what I would like to retain is the factory shifter for the switching if all possible.

I have toyed with hall-effect scooter throttles and ESC’s but all require a minimum of 20V. Could this idea of using relays work or should I try for some high-current motor controllers?

All help and criticism appreciated.

Biomechanical UFO In Hi Res NASA Photo While In Orbit Around Earth!

I combined the photo that was taken during and after the UFO and it is below in giff format. The photo before the UFO was of a different angle so I didn’t include it. The photos prove that its not something stuck to the window, the shadows on the UFO show it is an object far away.

Old NASA files hide UFO research treasure if you dig deep enough and persist. This is a great example of that very thing. A giant odd shaped UFO is in the background. The shape indicates that its biomechanics in nature. I mean its created using living mechanisms that are programmed to grow a certain way. Much how the ship in the Sci-fi show Farscape had a living spaceship, this too is similar except this one is real. I think biomechanics ships explains a lot of sightings people have of odd shaped or irregular shaped UFOs. SCW

Embers Of Poldermans Case Still Smoldering

He was widely published and active in the field, serving as a member of the European Society of Cardiology committee for practice guidelines and as the chairperson of the ESC guidelines on pre-operative cardiac risk assessment and perioperative cardiac management in non-cardiac surgery. He was also the lead author of the influential (but controversial) 1999 New England Journal of Medicine DECREASE study on the use of bisoprolol during vascular surgery. Kate Vim Mode: Papercuts (+ bonus emscripten-qt stuff!)

I was a long time Vim holdout and often wondered to myself, “just why do those nutheads use vim?” until I googled and read the blog I just linked. After trying Vim out for a few days, I was completely hooked, but didn’t want to leave KDevelop with its awesome Intellisense/ code completion/ navigation features. Thankfully, Kate has a Vim mode, so I could get the best of both worlds

However, I’d often run into small but jarring inconsistencies with Vim, or sometimes find missing features, and so I set about trying to fix as many as I could. Since these were usually very small and unimportant things, I’ll just go ahead and list them, Graesslin-style :)

Vim mode is one of those rare and happy pieces of code which you can very easily write tests for: just add the starting text; the list of keypresses; and the expected, final text. Kuzmich Svyatoslav wrote a big battery of them a while back, and my first ever patch was an incredibly trivial little one that fixed a hole in the test framework and a bug that the hole obscured.

After that, I:

  • Improved the test framework to enable us to test Insert Mode features;
  • Fixed the inner curly bracket text object to be more like Vim (rather than deleting everything between the curly braces on a diB, Vim usually attempts to leave the closing curly bracket on its own line);
  • Added { and } motions to Visual Mode;
  • Fix a few bugs with Erlend’s very handy “comma text object” extension;
  • Fixed numerous bugs with t/T and , & ; involving them getting “stuck” behind occurrences of the character to search for, and also made them “counted” so that one can do e.g. 3ta, and also mirroring Vim’s behaviour where if we can’t find the required count of characters on the line, we don’t move at all;
  • Stopped the transition from Visual Mode to Normal mode from resetting the cursor position if we exited via ESC or Ctrl-c;
  • Fixed a bug with the nifty “block append” feature;
  • Fixed a nice bug with replaying the last command via . when the last command was an insertion that had a Ctrl-o in the middle of it (all the characters after we exited the Ctrl-o were treated as commands, with predictably zany results!)
  • Ensured that the bracket text object worked in Visual Mode;
  • Made the very handy Key Mapping feature “counted”, so you could perform your chosen Mapping several times in a row, and also made them count as one edit that could be reverted with just one request to Undo;
  • Made p & P move the cursor to the end of the pasted text instead of leaving it at the beginning (whoops!), and similarly for gp/gP which places the cursor one past the end, hopefully respecting Vim’s slightly obscure exceptions and corner cases (e.g. p and P act as gp and gp when in Temporary …read more

2014 Audi RS7 Sportback Debuts in Detroit with 560 Horsepower & 189 MPH Top Speed

Although there are many introductions and reveals of new vehicles during this year’s International Auto Auto Show in Detroit, not many of the vehicles on display come packing a coupe-look with 4 doors, a rear hatch and a potent 560 force-fed V8 engine under the hood – In the all-new 2014 Audi RS7.

The new Audi RS7 is aimed at taking the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Benz CLS63 AMG head on and has the goods to get the job done. The luxury hatchback features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine with 560 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque taken directly from the larger Audi S8. The RS7 in its base form will reach an electronically limited top speed 155 mph but equipped with a dynamic plus package consumers can reach a dare-devil 189 mph.

The new Audi RS7 is not only poised in shear performance but it is also relatively efficient getting up to 25 mpg by means of a cylinder-on-demand system where the V8 engine deactivates up to 4 cylinders by closing corresponding valves.

Dynamics at their most beautiful – the Audi RS 7

Audi is expanding its RS model lineup: The RS 7 Sportback, which is making its debut at the North American International Auto Show 2013 in Detroit, stands for dynamics at their most beautiful. The large five-door coupe uses a 4.0 TFSI engine producing 412 kW (560 hp). The sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) takes just 3.9 seconds, and the speed governor can be deactivated upon customer request to permit a top speed of up to 305 km/h (189.52 mph). Despite this superior performance, the Audi RS 7 Sportback consumes on average just 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 km (24.00 US mpg).

Aesthetic design, innovative technology and impressive sportiness: The RS 7 Sportback, the large five-door coupe from Audi, combines many strengths to produce a fascinating character. Its strong heart is the 4.0 TFSI, which takes Audi’s downsizing strategy to the high-end category. The twin-turbo V8 displaces 3,993 cc and develops awesome power, with 412 kW (560 hp) available between 5,700 and 6,700 rpm. A constant 750 Nm (553.17 lb-ft) of torque are available between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm.

Because the high-revving four-cylinder engine has been rigorously designed for low load-change and flow losses, it develops this power quickly and spontaneously. The cylinder heads have the exhaust side on the inside and the intake side on the outside. The two twin-scroll turbochargers, which produce up to 1.2 bars of relative boost pressure, are located together with the intercooler in the inside V of the cylinder banks. Consequently, the gas paths are very short and response very good. The RS-specific engine management and unthrottled intake system also contribute to the dynamic character of the twin-turbo V8. Switchable flaps in the exhaust system make the engine sound even fuller at the push of a button or under strong acceleration. Audi also offers an optional sport exhaust system.

The RS 7 Sportback sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 3.9 seconds. Audi limits the top speed in the standard configuration to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Top speed with the optional dynamic package is 280 km/h (173.98 mph) and
305 km/h (189.52 mph) with the dynamic package plus.

Yet the new top model of the model series consumes on average just 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 km (24.00 US mpg). This top value is due in part to the standard start-stop system and innovative thermal management.

The most innovative efficiency technology in the new Audi RS 7 Sportback is the cylinder on demand (COD) system. At low to medium loads and engine speeds, it deactivates cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 by closing their valves via electromechanical actuators. The 4.0 TFSI then runs as a four-cylinder engine until the driver accelerates more strongly again. The operating points in the active cylinders are displaced toward higher loads, increasing efficiency.

All of these operations take just a few hundredths of a second and occur so smoothly and quickly that they can hardly be felt or heard. Active engine bearings, another high-end solution from Audi, use out-of-phase counter-oscillations to compensate for the slight vibrations that occur during four-cylinder operation. The COD technology reduces NEDC fuel consumption by roughly five percent, and even greater savings of approximately 10 percent are possible when driving at moderate speeds.

The standard eight-speed tiptronic is specially tuned to the sporty character of the Audi RS 7 Sportback. Drivers can choose between the modes D and S or change gears themselves using the shift paddles on the steering wheel or the selector lever, which sports a unique RS design. While the lower gears of the tiptronic are closely spaced for sporty response, eighth gear is tall like an overdrive to reduce fuel consumption.

The Audi RS 7 Sportback comes standard with quattro permanent all-wheel drive for its decisive advantage in traction and driving safety compared with its two-wheel-drive competitors. At the heart of the quattro system is a center differential with a high locking rate and a separate oil cooler to regulate its temperature. It distributes the power as needed within a wide range between the front and rear axles. In the standard configuration, 60 percent flows to the rear and 40 percent to the front.

An intelligent software solution called torque vectoring supports the work of the differential at the cornering limit with minimal braking of the wheels that are under a reduced load. Audi also offers the optional sport differential for the rear axle, which uses two superposition gears to actively distribute the power between the wheels.

The Audi RS 7 Sportback comes standard with polished, 20-inch forged lightweight wheels in a seven twin-spoke design. The five-door high-performance coupe also rolls on optional 21-inch cast wheels in a choice of three designs.

Powerful brakes are located behind the large wheels. The four internally vented discs feature a weight-saving wave design and measure 390 millimeters (15.35 in) in diameter up front. Pins decouple the steel friction rings from the aluminum brake caps. Black painted six-piston calipers – optionally available in red – grip the discs. Audi also offers optional 420 millimeter (16.54 in) carbon fiber ceramic discs with anthracite gray calipers. The electronic stabilization control (ESC) has a Sport mode and can also be deactivated entirely.

Equipped with the air suspension, which harmonizes perfectly with the dynamic character of a sport coupe, the new RS 7 Sportback is sporty, yet still comfortable. The RS 7 adaptive air suspension lowers the body by 20 millimeters (0.79 in). Adaptive damping, another of the system’s features, adjusts the suspension’s response to the condition of the road, the driver’s style and the mode selected in the Audi drive select system, with which the driver can alter the function of key components in multiple steps.

Audi offers the taut sport suspension plus with dynamic ride control (DRC) as an alternative to the air suspension. It uses steel springs and three-stage adjustable dampers that are connected to one another via diagonal oil lines and a central valve. Another option, which can also be integrated into Audi drive select, is the dynamic steering with its steplessly variable steering boost and ratio. As with the standard electromechanical steering, its characteristics are specially tailored for the RS 7 Sportback.

The body of the Audi RS 7 Sportback includes up to 20 percent aluminum and includes many parts of high-strength and ultra high-strength steels. Its high rigidity is the foundation for the precise handling, excellent workmanship and quiet cabin free of intrusive noise.

The character of the Audi RS 7 Sportback is immediately obvious. A series of specific design details give a sporty edge to its flowing coupe design. These include the distinctive bumpers and high-gloss black protective grille with honeycomb structure at the front of the car as well as add-on parts in matt aluminum. At the rear of the car, which features a power extending spoiler, the diffuser and the two large, elliptical tailpipe trims of the exhaust system catch the eye.

The RS 7 Sportback is available in a choice of ten exterior colors, including the new shade Nardo gray and the exclusive finish Daytona gray, matt effect. Two styling packages – matt aluminum and carbon – further customize the appearance. With these, the front center air inlet also sports a quattro badge. With the carbon styling package, the front splitter and the diffuser are somewhat more boldly shaped. Other options include the exterior mirrors with exposed carbon housings and the all-LED headlights, whose designer trims are tinted for a unique look.

The elegant dynamics carry over to the cockpit of the Audi RS 7 Sportback. The dial instruments have black faces, white scales and red needles. A 3D RS 7 logo in the tachometer is a further accent. The key, the flat-bottomed, three-spoke leather steering wheel, the illuminated door entry sills and the displays for the MMI and driver information system also sport RS badges. The driver information system includes a shift light, which indicates when the rev limit is reached. Displays for boost pressure and oil temperature plus a lap timer round out the RS 7-specific menu.

Colors and materials provide for further differentiation. The footrest, pedals and soft keys in the standard MMI navigation plus terminal shine in an aluminum-look finish. The decorative trim below the retractable monitor sports a piano finish.

Carbon inlays are standard, with four additional materials available as options. The headlining comes standard in black cloth, with options for lunar silver or black Alcantara. Of course, the Audi RS 7 Sportback can also be personalized using the Audi exclusive program.

RS sport seats with pronounced side bolsters, integrated head restraints and RS 7 logos are standard. They are covered in a combination of black Alcantara and leather, and the center sections feature diamond quilting. The seats can also be covered alternatively in high-grade, honeycomb-quilted Valcona leather in either black or lunar silver. Audi offers optional power-adjustable comfort seats with memory function. The two rear seats are powerfully contoured. Luggage capacity ranges from 535 to 1,390 liters (18.89 to 49.09 cu ft) depending on the position of the rear seat backs.

The Audi RS 7 Sportback comes with a generous list of standard equipment, including xenon plus headlights, a tire pressure monitoring system, the parking system plus, three-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control and the Audi sound system in addition to features mentioned previously. High-end options include a head-up display, a comfort package, the dynamic package and the dynamic package plus.

The Bluetooth online car phone is an ideal complement to the standard MMI navigation plus. Its UMTS module delivers the tailored Audi connect services to the on-board monitor, and a WLAN hotspot connects the passengers’ mobile devices. Topping the range of audio modules is the Advanced Sound System from Bang & Olufsen.

The Audi RS 7 Sportback also leads the pack when it comes to driver assistance systems. One of these is the adaptive cruise control with stop & go function including Audi pre sense front. This keeps the powerful coupe at the proper distance from the car ahead and in many situations can help to avoid accidents or mitigate their consequences.

Audi active lane assist helps the driver to keep the RS 7 Sportback on course. The park assist handles the steering when parking. 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit AWD Review & Test Drive

If you like to reach your favorite off-road destination in a tuxedo, then check out the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit AWD sport utility vehicle.  Besides Jeep’s fabled off-road prowess, this new Grand Cherokee is dressed to the nines outside and inside with the latest luxury, convenience, safety, connectivity and infotainment systems.

My test 2013 Cherokee Overland Summit came fully loaded.  New standard equipment includes front park assist, power folding outside heated/self-dimming mirrors and headlight washers.  My Overland Summit came equipped with the new optional black colored Nappa leather seats with saddle accent stitching on the seats and the black Berber floor mats.  The dashboard upper lid is also covered with leather featuring the single stitching saddle thread.  The front bucket seats feature 8-way power adjustments with lumbar support, perforated inserts for heating and cooling functions.  More about the sumptuous interior later as the exterior styling of the Overland Summit gets new bling.

On the inside the Overland Summit features unique Black Olive burl wood trim blended into the instrument panel.  The distinctive polished trim wraps into the upper panels of both the front and rear doors surrounding passengers with the highest levels of craftsmanship.  The wood trim is also used on the standard, leather-wrapped, power tilting/telescoping/heated/beefy steering wheel.  The center stack, center console and air-vents are covered in chrome and satin aluminum giving the interior a further infusion of luxury.  The stick shifter is of course, also covered in leather with the top part showing a black with white lettering Jeep signature.  More interior refinements include heated second-row seats with air-vents out the end of the center console, two-driver memory settings for seats, steering wheel and side mirrors, rear pull-down center armrest with dual cupholders, electronic, dual-zone A/C system, power windows/door locks with front express up/down, dual-pane one-touch panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, electronic vehicle information center located between the rallye style gauges, Uconnect 730 N CD/DVD/MP3/HDD/NAV GPS navigation, 9-amplified speakers with subwoofer, Sirius satellite radio, 6.5 in. touch screen display, 506-watt amp, storage pockets in each door, a deep lighted glove box, grab handles above each door, dual map lights, dual lighted vanity mirrors, cargo area light, rain-sensing wipers/washers, rear wiper/washer, two-tiered storage box and padded armrest and thick cut-pile carpeting.

Also standard on the Overland Summit is the Advanced Warning System and Adaptive Cruise Control group which consist of Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Sport Monitoring and Rear Cross-path detection systems.  Am I missing anything?  I don’t think that any other premium sport utility vehicle comes with more luxury, convenience, and new high-tech safety features.  What really sets the new 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit a part from any other SUV in the segment is Jeep’s fabled off-road ability.

Let’s start with the power and torque to easily cruise on the highway and bust through the toughest off-road trails.  You have a choice of the award-winning 3.6 liter VVT all-aluminum, DOHC Pentastar V6 engine that generates 290 hp at 6,400 rpm and 260 lb.ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm.  Excellent fuel mileage specs of 16/city and 23mpg/highway.  The 5.7 liter V8 engine with fuel-saver technology delivers 360 hp and 290 lb.ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm.  The VVT system on both engines delivers performance, towing capability and fuel efficiency.  4X4 models achieve 13 mpg/city and 20mpg/highway.  With the V8 engine fuel-saver technology seamlessly alternates between smooth high-fuel economy four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and V8 mode when more power is requested.  This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic and the 3.6 liter V6 engine is mated to a smooth-shifting five-speed automatic.  Both transmissions feature Autostick which allows you to hold each gear and make the changes, up or down, when you want it.  The V6 engine offers a trailer-tow capability of up to 5,000 lbs. and up to 7,400 lbs. with the 5.7 liter V8 engine.  That’s plenty of towing power from either engine.  My test Grand Cherokee Overland Summit 4X4 had the V6 engine that provided me with plenty of power and towing capability for all of my needs.

Besides the excellent power and torque ratings allowing you to easily cruise the highways and tough off-road trails with a trailer/boat or any type of active lifestyle accessories, the combination of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension system and the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control system lets you choose the 4X4 setting for the optimum experience on all terrains-also giving you a ‘cloud-like’ air-ride on the road.  My test Cherokee Overland Summit had both systems for the optimum off-road capability.  Selec-Terrain electronically coordinates up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems, including throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, traction control and electronic stability control (ESC).  The Jeep Selec-Terrain’s control dial allows you to choose from five driving conditions in order to achieve the best 4X4 performance.  Torque management to the drive wheels for maximum grip is achieved through the following settings: Sand/Mud-traction control and Quadra-Lift operates with sensitive response to wheel spin and torque is tuned for optimal performance; Sport-provides enhanced  on-road ‘fun-to-drive capability; Auto-automatically adapts to any on-or-off-road situation; Snow-vehicle traction control adjusts for ultimate performance over snow-covered roads; Rock-Quadra-Lift air suspension system raises to maximum height (10.7 in.) and the transfer case, differentials and throttle coordinate to provide low-speed control.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee also offers the Quadra Lift air suspension system, which features five height settings for optimum ride performance: Normal Ride Height (NRH): 8.1 in. of clearance offers improved fuel economy and improved aerodynamics during on-road driving; Off-road 1-Lifts the vehicle an additional 1.3 in. for added height in clearing obstacles (9.4 in.); Off-road 2-Delivers legendary Jeep off-road capability and provides an additional 2.6 in. of height for 10.7 in. of ground clearance; Park Mode- Lowers the vehicle 1.5 in. from the NRH for easy ingress/egress and roof-rack loading, NRH and Park mode are driver selectable, giving you control over vehicle ride height; Aero Mode-Lowers the vehicle .6 in. from NRH.  Aero mode is controlled by vehicle speed and adjusts for optimal performance and fuel economy.

Quadra-Lift adds up to 4.1 in. of lift span that is supported by four-corner air springs that provide a cushioned, premium ride.  Quadra-Lift operates automatically, or may be controlled manually via console controls.  With the front airdam removed, and the available Quadra-Lift air suspension system, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit 4X4 features a 34.3-degree approach angle, a 29.3-degree departure angle and a 23.1-degree Breakover angle.

Front and rear independent suspension systems feature isolated front and rear suspension cradles.  Variable rate rear springs deliver uncompromised on-road handling and comfort that complements the vehicle’s off-road prowess.  The rear suspension allows the spare tire to be stored inside the vehicle.

The Quadra Trac II two-speed transfer case actively manages torque and uses input from a variety of sensors in order to determine tire slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action.  The system uses Throttle Anticipate to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximizes traction before slippage occurs.  When tire slippage is detected, as much as 100% of available torque is instantly routed to the axle with the most traction.

The standard electro-hydraulic power rack & pinion steering system in the V6 model gives excellent feel for the road, is smooth and reacts to your inputs immediately.  It also increases fuel efficiency by 1mpg.  The V8 model uses the standard hydraulic power rack & pinion system.

Quickly stopping the new Grand Cherokee Overland Summit down from speed are large, 4-wheel steel disc brakes.  Up front are 12.9 in. vented discs clamped with dual-piston calipers.  The rear features 12.6 in. solid discs clamped with single-piston calipers.  Standard ABS, BA, Traction Control and ESC all work together to keep you in control when braking on slick pavement or when off-road.  The new 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit rides on huge 20X8 in. aluminum alloy wheels wrapped with Goodyear 265/50R20 in. Fortera HL all-season radial tires for a smooth, quiet ride with excellent traction.

Standard features not mentioned above includes, self-dimming rearview mirror, reading lamps in the rear, and a cargo lamp in the back.  Options not mentioned above in the Overland Summit automatic high-beam headlight control.

Standard safety features includes hill descent control, daytime running lamps, advanced multi-stage front airbags, front seat-mounted airbags, side-curtain airbags, LATCH system for child seats, Parkview rear backup camera, ParkSense rear park assist system, trailer tow group, hill start assist, trailer sway damping, security alarm , 5-3-point safety belts with front pretensioners/load limiters, front crumple zone and steel beams in each door.
