Fluor Awarded Operations and Maintenance Contract at Arizona Solar Power Facility

IRVING, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Fluor Corporation (NYS: FLR) announced today that it was awarded a five-year operations and maintenance services contract by Arlington Valley Solar Energy II, LLC (AVSE II), a member of LS Power Group, for the company’s new solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Arizona. Fluor booked the undisclosed value into backlog in the first quarter of 2013.

“Fluor is looking forward to continuing our work on the AVSE II project as we complete the construction phase and move into operations and maintenance,” said Matt McSorley, senior vice president of Fluor’s Power business. “Fluor has a 35-year legacy of providing O&M services to our customers in the Power sector, and we are pleased to expand our work in the renewable energy market.”

The nominal 125-megawatt PV facility, which Fluor is currently constructing, is located on approximately 1,160 acres of land in Maricopa County, Arizona. When complete, the facility will supply renewable energy for the region and help reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

In October 2011, AVSE II awarded Fluor a lump-sum engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to design and build the facility. Fluor is also responsible for the EPC of the Centinela Solar Energy Facility, also owned by LS Power Group, in Southern California.

Foster Wheeler Awarded Technical Consultancy Services Contracts by Apache Khalda for the Qasr Compression Project in Egypt

ZUG, Switzerland–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Foster Wheeler AG (NAS: FWLT) announced today that subsidiaries of its Global Engineering and Construction Group have been awarded contracts by Apache Khalda Corporation LDC (Apache Khalda) for the provision of technical consultancy services to oversee the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the Qasr Compression Project in Egypt. The Qasr Compression Project will provide additional compression to the existing facilities at the Qasr gas condensate field, in the Western Desert, approximately 525km west of Cairo.

The Foster Wheeler contract value was not disclosed and will be included in the first-quarter 2013 bookings.

Foster Wheeler will assist Apache Khalda in the management and administration of the EPC phase of the project as part of a joint project management team. The EPC phase is expected to be completed in the first- quarter 2015.

NuScale Power Submits Letter Of Intent To Compete for U.S. Department Of Energy’s Funding Opportunity Announcement

PORTLAND, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– NuScale Power LLC announced today that it has submitted a Letter of Intent to respond to the recent Department of Energy (DOE) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to accelerate the deployment of the company’s small modular reactor technology.

As the only U.S.-based company established solely for the deployment and commercialization of its SMR technology, NuScale has developed unique and proprietary break-through technology for an innovative, simple, safe, economic, and scalable small modular reactor. Using proven light water reactor (LWR) technology, the NuScale Power Module is cooled by natural circulation, is entirely self-contained and installed underwater and underground to maximize safety.

The NuScale design also represents 100 percent factory-fabricated modules, including containment, and is fully transportable by truck or rail to deployment sites. It takes advantage of the “economies of small,” enhancing potential market acceptance through improved safety, efficient operation, and attractive economics. At 45 MWe per operating module, the NuScale SMR design is attractive to markets that no other LWR SMR design can reach. KBR to Provide Licensing, Basic Engineering Package and Proprietary Equipment for New Ammonia Plant in Sulawesi, Indonesia

HOUSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– KBR (NYS: KBR) today announced it was selected by PT Panca Amara Utama (PAU) to provide licensing, engineering services and proprietary equipment for a new grassroots ammonia plant in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

PAU‘s plan for a world scale grassroots plant with Ammonia capacity of 2000 Metric tonnes per day, will be built by Toyo Engineering Corporation and will be designed using KBR‘s Reforming Exchanger System and Purifier Technology. KBR‘s proprietary technology and equipment has demonstrated higher reliability and efficiency than conventional designs and offers the lowest proven energy consumption in the industry.
