Apple Loses Big & NHL 14 Gets A Release Date

Today we have a “no dlc” announcement from our guys at Bethesda. See if you can guess the name of the game we’re referring to. Hint, it has dragons. And who want’s more hockey? Because being Canadian, I highly approve that NHL 14 has now been given a release date. Finally, Apple made a booboo and has been sanctioned to suffer the consequences. To get the full DL on what went wrong, give today’s Fix a little watch. Ok dokes?

Here are the stories covered in today’s Daily Fix:

If you were hoping more DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was still on the way, you’re out of luck; Bethesda has announced only “minor updates” will be provided in the future as the studio ramps up production on its next project.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Delayed on Wii U in UK

Warner Bros. has announced that upcoming superhero brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us has been delayed by a week in the UK.

CVG reports that the game will now be available on April 26, rather than on April 19 as was originally planned.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game will still be released on the original date. No reason for the delay has been announced, though the Wii U version of the title also won’t be receiving the DLC season pass that has been announced for other platforms.

While it’s not ideal, on the plus side the delay is only for a week and it’ll give you more time to get up to speed on the story leading up to the events of the game.

No Further Skyrim DLC Planned, Team "Moving On"

If you were hoping more DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was still on the way, you’re out of luck; Bethesda has announced only “minor updates” will be provided in the future as the studio ramps up production on its next project.

In a post on the Bethblog, the company explains that its next major project is ready to make the leap from pre-production to a state where it’ll require a lot more hands.

“For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs,” it explains.

“Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.

Atelier Totori Plus Review

I’ve always appreciated what the Atelier roleplaying series strives to do, even if I haven’t always been thrilled with the ways in which it’s done it. Though the dialogue and voice work have never been terribly effective, many of these games’ characters still beg to be remembered, and few more than one Totooria Helmold, the star of Atelier Totori Plus. Earnest and open-hearted to a fault, her deeply personal motivation is the glue that, along with an intensive crafting element, holds this laid-back RPG together. And thanks to the Vita’s beautiful screen, the world around her looks better here than ever before.

Atelier Totori Plus is a Vita port of Atelier Totori that doesn’t disappoint in the least. It brings all the content of the original to gamers on the go, along with a few bonuses to sweeten the pot. Among other things: all the DLC characters from the PS3 incarnation, and more excitingly, a new post-game dungeon that Atelier Rorona fans will no doubt recognize. None of theses extras are game-changers mind you, but they do add an appreciated splash of extra variety whether you’re a new or returning player.

Metallica Pack Pulled from Rock Band Music Store

The Metallica Pack 01, featuring the songs “Ride The Lightning”, “And Justice For All”, and “Blackened”, has been pulled from the Rock Band Music Store. It will also be yanked from first-party marketplaces in the immediate future.

“After that, they will no longer be available for purchase,” reads a statement published on the Rock Band Facebook page.

“When licensing songs for release for any platform, including DLC, agreements include term limits on how long the content may be sold on a given platform. This isn’t specific to Rock Band – it’s something that exists in pretty much all licensing agreements. Now, over five years since the release of the first batch of Rock Band DLC, we’re reaching the end of some of the earliest licenses we secured.”

Activision and Treyarch Set to Deliver One of Its Most Creative & Ambitious DLC Offerings to Date with Call of Duty®: Black Ops II Uprising – Available First, Exclusively on Xbox LIVE on April 16

A Volcanic Town Overflown with Hot Lava. A Reimagining of Call of Duty®: Black Ops’ “Firing Range” Map. And Zombie Mobsters in Alcatraz. Yep…You Read That Correctly – Uprising’s All-New Zombies Adventure “Mob of the Dead” Brings Together Iconic Hollywood Mobsters and Pits Them Against the Undead in the World’s Most Inescapable Prison

SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Call of Duty® fans are set to receive another premium offering of Downloadable Content (DLC) with Call of Duty®: Black Ops II Uprising on April 16. The game’s second, epic DLC pack of the year from award-winning studio Treyarch and Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI), will be available first, exclusively on Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft beginning on April 16, with other platforms to follow. Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising will include four new exotic multiplayer maps, plus an exciting new Zombies experience called “Mob of the Dead” that takes players to Alcatraz with four of the actors behind some of Hollywood’s most iconic mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Joe Pantoliano, and Michael Madsen.

“With Uprising, the team has really outdone itself again,” said Mark Lamia, Treyarch’s Studio Head. “In addition to creating four amazing new multiplayer maps, the Studio has been hard at work on the Zombies front to surpass what we accomplished with ‘Call of the Dead.’ What they’ve done this time around is nothing Zombies fans have seen before – and if you don’t believe me, just wait until you get into Purgatory.”

Following tradition of the original Call of Duty: Black Ops fan-favorite Zombies mode “Call of the Dead,” Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising‘s wildly creative new “Mob of the Dead” Zombies experience finds the four prohibition-era mobsters, Billy Handsome (Liotta), Al “The Weasel” Arlington (Pantoliano), Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca (Palmentiri), and Michael “Finn” O’Leary (Madsen) serving time in Alcatraz Prison, only to discover that being behind bars is the least of their problems. With plans to break out of Alcatraz foiled by the rise of the undead, the quartet of inmates will have to lean on their mob-derived skills with firearms, blunt instruments and improvised weaponry as they battle the zombies infesting and overrunning the island. Gearbox Teases Next Borderlands 2 DLC

At the end of its PAX East panel today, Gearbox showed off a video hinting at Borderlands 2’s next downloadable content.

In the video, Tiny Tina was joined by original Borderlands Vault Hunters Mordecai, Lillith and Brick playing a game called Bunkers & Badasses, which appears to be the Borderlands universe’s version of Dungeons & Dragons. After some instructions from Tina and a few jokes, the video ended without any additional information.

While Gearbox is staying quiet for now, we do know that one more campaign add-on is due in the Borderlands 2 Season Pass before the end of June. During their panel, Gearbox said the next campaign will be the “biggest yet” and is being developed entirely by the internal Gearbox development team.

Dishonored: Knife of Dunwall – Hitting the Mark or Missing the Point?

When it comes to DLC, attaining the perfect balance between value for money, gameplay coherence and narrative consistency is an imperfect science. The additional content should feel like a genuine addition to the overall experience, rather than a missing part of an incomplete whole. It should never appear exploitative or cynical; tacked-on or throwaway.

In this respect, Arkane Studios’ first stab at Dishonored DLC with Dunwall City Trials was a mixed bag. It was Dishonored dismantled: the individual parts that make up its highly-regarded whole portioned and packaged as a series of challenges; some throwaway, others fiendishly replayable. While specific parts fell a little flat, the overall package proved itself worth the modest entry price; though in retrospect it could have made a generous unlockable addendum to the main game.
