Performer Keyshia Cole’s husband, NBA player Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, has spoken up about his arrest this week, telling the media that he got into trouble only because he was defending his wife from a “disrespectful” man.
Gibson, who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, surrendered to police Monday after being charged with second-degree battery. The 27-year-old is accused of “breaking another man’s jaw with a punch during an argument at a nightclub” in New Orleans, The Associated Press reports. The altercation reportedly took place in early July.
As TMZ notes, Gibson has spoken up in defense of his behavior. He told the celebrity news website that his wife had been performing at an event in New Orleans when a man approached her and spoke to her in a “disrespectful” way.

What do you think of when you hear the name Cloudberry Kingdom? Whimsical Victorian-era JRPG? Cutesy browser-based tower defense game? Well surprise! It’s actually an old-school 2D side-scrolling platformer that runs you through a merciless gauntlet of procedurally generated levels. Not only can its various blocks and hazards be arranged in potentially infinite combinations, the difficulty can be ramped up all the way to “Masochistic.” It’s a brave approach, if nothing else. When our only means of avoiding doom consists of running and jumping, the entire experience lives and dies by the level design.
The good news is, CBK’s built-in level generator works extremely well, at least in a broad sense. Levels were never broken or unbeatable, and in fact, I routinely encountered sections that felt so deliberately assembled I actually doubted a randomized algorithm could design something so perfectly cruel. When you reach the end of an extremely challenging level only to discover a last-second laser from space means you’ll have to rethink your entire run in order to get the timing right, it’s hard not to take it personally, you know? Still, aside from the occasional level that far exceeded the difficulty of the previous and subsequent levels, the challenge always increased at a steady, satisfying pace. And damn can it be satisfying!

Seeing as how PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD is a high-def version of the amazing 2009 PSP game PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, all developer Double Eleven had to do was not screw up the port of this excellent tower defense. Luckily, it didn’t, and PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD is as fun, addictive, and challenging as ever.
You’re Tikiman and you have to build towers to thwart monsters cruising through the forest looking to eat your Tikibabies. You do this by walking up to trees and spending gold to craft cannons to fight ground troops or anti-air guns to attack flying beasts. Defeat the villains, get more gold, and build more weapons or unlock new armaments so that you survive the set number of waves.

If it is true that conservatives (i.e. patriots) must unify to defeat Obot forces arrayed to destroy America, then the governor of New Jersey is a sellout at best, a traitor more likely. Defenders of liberty, which depends upon America’s founding principles, ought to be outraged.
Gov. Chris Christie, the latest Democrat in Lincoln clothing, last week called Sen. Rand Paul’s thinking on national security and civil rights “dangerous.” He condemned Paul and others for engaging in “esoteric, intellectual debates” critical of government surveillance and the war on terrorism.
In doing so, Christie continues his tradition of holding hands with Obama and schmoozing for position in view of 2016. If debating security versus liberty and working to strike the appropriate balance is a heady discussion confined to a small group with special knowledge (the definition of “esoteric”), then Christie must believe that most Americans are too dumb and too uninformed to participate; and Sen. Paul’s efforts to enlighten The People amounts to a misguided and dangerous endeavor. This makes Christie an arrogant elitist. No wonder his finds Obama kindred.
Strange to learn the governor sides with Obama against efforts to preserve liberty and in favor of policies that shred the Constitution, as if The People are accessories. Why? Christie makes the age-old mistake: he trusts human nature. He believes if government is given enormous power, it will use that power to protect us, not turn on us. History contradicts this illusion time and again, and the Founders made clear. This is precisely why the core of Americanism is limited government: a central government restrained by the rule of law, the consent of the governed, and three co-equal branches checking and balancing the power of each branch. Sen. Paul understands human nature and the core of Americanism.
Sen. Paul took to the floor of the Senate not long ago, filibustering for 13 hours, challenging Obama on the use of drones, and forcing the president to issue a statement promising not to kill Americans with drones on American soil. Killing Americans overseas is something Obama reserves as a presidential prerogative. Indeed, Obama has been responsible for killing civilians overseas using drones, many hundreds, perhaps thousands of men, women, and children. But you’ll never hear about that on MSNBC or from the press office of the New Jersey governor.
Sen. Paul has also challenged the Obama/Christie idea that the federal government has a right to spy on citizens. He has simply called for review and appropriate adjustments to accomplish the dual purposes of protecting American liberty and providing for national defense. Overreach by the NSA and other agencies under the control of a man like Obama are sufficient reasons for alarm, and significant majorities agree with Sen. Paul and others who work to strike the right balance.
Christie appears only interested in working to promote his political career, even if it means attacking those he should be working with in the interest of saving the country. Instead, he appears at the GOP nominating convention to egotistically engage self-promotion …read more
Embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner has requested that the city represent him and pay his legal expenses in his defense of a sexual harassment suit brought by a former employee.
This is a post I had several years ago here on Worthy and I am just sharing it again (I know it’s long…) –
God has promised to reward us in Hebrews 11:6 with understanding if we would “diligently” seek Him. Answering His call to personal holiness, picking up our crosses and following Him is how we seek Him. To those who obey this mandate Jesus said He would give to them “to know the mystery of the kingdom of God” (Mark 4:11). “To know” we are required to “diligently seek” if we are to have any hope to find, just as we must actively knock if the door of understanding is to be opened unto us. We must humbly acknowledge our ignorance and ask for understanding if we are to be enlightened by God’s Holy Spirit. That is because nothing is more blinding or hindering to our receiving truth than the “light” one proudly thinks himself to have, as such light most often prove to be strongholds that cause men to bunker down in defense of their own historic position or greed. But even when such are willing to consider that the part they know may not be completely correct, they must remember that all our seeking, knocking, and asking must be with an intention of true faithfulness if we are to receive anything from God. Even then, it is still only when “our hearts condemn us not” of sin that we can have true “confidence” toward God. It is in that place and condition that “whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight” (I John 3:21, 22).
Justified in the Spirit
The revealing of God’s precious truths is often times progressive, as is witnessed to God’s names being revealed over time to humanity. Therefore we can see throughout history how so many others of God’s truths have been given one tidbit at a time is not rare. Holy men of old often prophesied of future events in fragments, “here a little” and then in another text, perhaps even another prophet, “there a little.” This method of enlightenment is in exact accordance with what the bible teaches us. I Corinthians 13:9 tells us straightforwardly that we all only “prophesy in part.” However, when we allow the Holy Spirit to help us properly assemble these parts by His illuminating touch, these fragments give valuable insight into otherwise veiled truths of scripture. Such is true for a verse which would otherwise be a puzzling piece of scripture –
“For without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, [God was] justified in the spirit, [God was] seen of angels, [God had] preached unto the Gentiles, [God was] believed on in the world, [God was] received up …read more

THE PRESIDENT: Well, everybody please have a seat. Welcome to the White House on this beautiful afternoon. And congratulations to the San Francisco Giants on their second World Series title in three years. (Applause.) They're making this a habit. (Laughter.)
I want to start by recognizing all the fans of the Orange and Black with us today, including San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is in the house. (Applause.) One of your number-one fans in Washington, Leader Nancy Pelosi is here — season ticket holder. (Applause.) All the members of Congress that we’ve got here today — we’re glad you guys are here.
We want to recognize as well Larry Baer and GM Brian Sabean for building yet another championship team. Give them a big round of applause. (Applause.) And of course, we’ve got somebody who keeps on looking younger every time I see him, the “Say Hey Kid” Willie Mays in the house. (Applause.) And, of course, we’ve got a big — give a big congratulations to Manager Bruce Bochy, who just last week joined greats like John McGraw and Joe Torre as one of only 21 managers to win 1,500 games. That is an incredible honor. Give Bruch a big round of applause. (Applause.) Congratulations.
Now, it wasn’t that long ago that these guys were already here celebrating their last World Series title. Some things apparently don’t change. The Giants still won behind stellar pitching and smothering defense and timely hitting. And even though they used a different closer down the stretch, this one still had a “beard to fear.” (Laughter.)
On the other hand, some things do change. In 2010, it took five games to close out the World Series. This year it only took four. (Applause.) There are some new faces standing behind me, some new nicknames. You got the “Reverend.” You’ve got “Blockbuster.” We’ve even got new haircuts. Where’s Tim? (Laughter.) There he is. See, you don't even recognize him anymore. (Laughter.)
And of course, there were new moments to write into the history books as well. During the regular season, Matt Cain threw the franchise’s first perfect game with a record-tying 14 strikeouts. Buster Posey returned from injury — I wish I was that young — you just kind of snap back — comes back, hits .336 with 24 homeruns and earns the National League MVP. (Applause.)
In the playoffs, the Giants dropped the first two games to the Reds, forcing them to run off three straight wins to stay alive. And then against the Cardinals, they had to come back from a three to one hole to win in seven games. In all, this team faced elimination a total of six times in the playoffs. It’s no wonder that your own fans still refer to Giants …read more

Privacy and digital rights groups have dug in for a longer fight against massive surveillance programs at the U.S. National Security Agency, even after the House of Representatives voted last week against an amendment to curtail the agency’s data collection.
The House last Wednesday narrowly defeated an amendment to a defense spending bill that would have prohibited the NSA from the bulk collection of phone records from U.S. carriers and cut off funding for the phone records collection program as currently designed, but digital rights groups have said the close vote gives them hope of weakening support for the NSA programs in Congress.
Lawmakers have introduced several bills to curb the NSA data collection, and privacy advocates may push for another amendment to a bill on the House or Senate floor, said David Segal, executive director at Demand Progress, a digital rights group.
The vote last Wednesday “demonstrated that a majority of rank-and-file members agree with us, while the institutionalists — leadership, committee chairs — disagree,” he said by email. “So it could be difficult to move things through the committee process … but there’ll be some relevant floor votes in coming months.”
