Taxpayer-funded Promotion Of Islam Draws Criticism

By B. Christopher Agee

Islam symbol SC Taxpayer funded promotion of Islam draws criticism

While Christians continue to see their freedom of expression limited (if not completely erased) by extreme leftists in the legal and political realms, taxpayers are funding an extensive Islamic outreach program coordinated by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Disregarding the fact that America is trillions of dollars in the hole, the left has long decried almost any outward embrace of Christianity, ostensibly because it indicates a tacit endorsement of the faith.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, that stance did not stop the NEH from moving forward with a program called “Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys,” through which 842 libraries in all 50 states will receive a variety of Islamic-centered material.

All the institutions involved must also set aside time for community discussion of the faith and culture of Islam.

Republican Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina spoke out against the program, saying it is “wasting taxpayer money.”

While unnecessarily spending tax revenue on such a project is upsetting enough, one should not be shocked at government’s misuse of our money.

Jones explores the deeper, more disturbing reason this program should not exist.

He said the interest of fairness – on which leftists seem to feel they have an ideological monopoly – is not served by the NEH effort and suggested adding books that display “America’s rich Judeo-Christian heritage.”

Twenty-five such books were offered to a college library in Jones’ district, though the facility has not yet confirmed it will add them to its shelves.

“I want to treat [the subject] fairly,” Jones said, “and I think too many times the Christian faith is not treated fairly.”

The head of a local Christian Coalition chapter in the area was another vocal critic of the program.

Jerry Schill cited “the government’s role in keeping God out of the public square and the obstacles that Christians face when it comes to prayer and the ability to publicly proclaim our faith,” noting this Islamic outreach program “seems more than odd.”

I’m sure his sentiments will receive significant support among not only Christian conservatives but rational Americans of any ideological stripe.

College Suspends Student For A Semester Over Facebook Post

By B. Christopher Agee

Facebook 3 SC College suspends student for a semester over Facebook post

A graduate student at New Jersey’s Montclair State University is facing a semester-long suspension and a permanent note on his transcript based on some Facebook comments not unlike what almost everyone has said at some point in his or her life.

The story began a few months before the suspension, when Joseph Aziz commented on the weight of a heckler at a Young Americans for Liberty event.

He has since apologized for the comments, explaining they were made out of frustration “with what I perceived as an attack on the speaker whose appearance my group sponsored.”

After the comments, which were posted on YouTube and included the allegation the heckler’s legs looked like a “pair of bleached hams” became public, school administrators disciplined Aziz and prohibited him from making any other social media comments about the heckler.

Recently, Aziz made a seemingly innocuous comment about the same individual on the page of a private Facebook group. When a group member sent the comment to the university, officials jumped at the chance to suspend him and forever sully his college transcript.

“Are you so focused on non-productive activities such as Facebook and ‘trolling’ that you have misplaced your priorities?” asks a college administrator in a letter to the student.

The college is relying on New Jersey’s rather strict anti-bullying “bill of rights,” though equating any impolite comment with bullying in need of punishment is completely outrageous.

At its worst, this appears to be nothing more than an inconsiderate act by a young man.

Unfortunately, his school wants to make sure a relatively minor lapse in judgment follows him for the rest of his life.

A molecular biology student, Aziz said “the ability to advance in my career is severely hindered without a graduate degree,” adding that a transfer to another school “is also difficult since a disciplinary suspension is noted on my transcript.”

We now live in a brave new world of constant government intrusion as individuals face punishment for private speech that should unquestionably be protected by the First Amendment.

Though I often criticize groups like the ACLU for actually arguing for limitations on our freedom, one civil liberties group has rightly come to the student’s defense.

“As an agency of the government, Montclair State has no power to order students not to discuss any topic or person on independent social media sites like Facebook,” argues an official with the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.

So far, the school has shown no signs of reversing this foolish decision and likely won’t – at least without constant pressure from freedom-loving patriots fed up with this vast overreach of power.

Young Children Suspended For Harmless Hand Gesture

By B. Christopher Agee

070419 BoysGuns vl widec vertical Young children suspended for harmless hand gesture
In the wake of several high-profile mass killings perpetuated by lone lunatics with guns, there is no denying Americans are embroiled in a contentious debate over how best to deal with such violence.

Barack Obama and the gun-grabbing left have their ideas, as do conservative patriots concerned with protecting our Constitutionally protected liberties.

When it comes to dealing with innocent children, though, almost everyone agrees we must diligently pursue a path to ensuring they can attend a safe school. Leave it to school administrators to take that idea to a level of absolute idiocy.

Such is the case with a disturbing trend of suspending very young children for making a hand gesture countless kids before them innocently made.

As you might have guessed, I’m referring to the thumb-index finger combination meant to playfully represent a gun.
Recently, three six-year-old students were suspended in two separate incidents at elementary schools in Maryland.

What used to be an almost expected behavior – especially among young boys – is now grounds for serious punishment. It’s obvious first-grade aged kids do not intend to make any threats against others; they are just playing!

Nevertheless, overreactions abound and the children are sent home without fully understanding why.

While the suspension of the first child was overturned, about two weeks a school in the same state imposed the same suspension on two schoolmates for the same reason.

A child psychologist weighed in on the decision, saying, “I do not believe maliciousness was involved here.”

While he understood “that’s not a type of play they are going to endorse,” he added, “that’s where we educate the time and place for doing things.”

I might support a ban of the imaginary finger gun when used as an annoying greeting by adults, but targeting children for playing is a giant step in the wrong direction.

Any attempt to create an environment devoid of any potentially offensive gestures is not only utterly impossible but will create a generation of Americans unable to handle the real world. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that horse has already left the barn.

Students Subjected To “White Privilege” Propaganda

By B. Christopher Agee

Obama Running Low On Fuel White Guilt SC Students subjected to White privilege propaganda

By now, it should come as no surprise that America’s public schools are being used primarily for the dissemination of radical leftist ideology to the next generation.

Well-meaning parents are too often completely uninformed about the vile indoctrination their children receive from teachers and administrators.

For example, most traditional parents instill in their children the sentiment of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who dreamed of a day children “will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

One school in Wisconsin, however, is teaching students to pay special attention to skin color and how Caucasians supposedly benefit from “white privilege.”

The school calls its course “American Diversity,” though a cursory perusal of accompanying material shows that the true intent is to incite hatred and jealousy against whites.

Students are given leftist propaganda, including an article by a University of Texas professor describing “the fiction that people have control over their fate,” adding “I will carry this privilege with me until the day white supremacy is erased from society.”

A course assignment featured obviously loaded questions, including “Why is the colorblind model of America ineffective?” and “Explain the iron of the phrase ‘United We Stand.’”

There is plenty of more offensive material contained in the course, including an assigned trip to Walmart to determine how many toys “represented black kids” as opposed to those that “represented white kids”; but I believe the examples heretofore examined present an appropriate overview of the leftist agenda at work.

Media intervention resulted in a reprieve for students being subjected to this trash as administrators conduct an evaluation of the course. Though it’s marginally refreshing to know this curriculum is not currently being taught, there is no reason anyone should have supported it in the first place.

This is nothing more than a divisive attempt to gin up racial hostility by minorities convinced they are perpetual victims and whites made to feel they are inherently evil oppressors.

Teacher Sues After School Bans Inspirational Quotes

By B. Christopher Agee

Ronald Reagan Teacher sues after school bans inspirational quotes

Like most conservatives, I generally feel our current culture is far too litigious. Many in today’s society will immediately react to any disappointment or difficulty by filing a lawsuit instead of merely accepting that, sometimes, things just happen.

One New York public school teacher, in my estimation, does not fall into that category.

She recently filed a suit in response to a letter she received from the school’s superintendent months earlier instructing her to remove a litany of inspirational quotes from her class.

The self-described Christian reported getting an eight-page letter detailing which materials she must take down to avoid offending anyone.

A Ronald Reagan quote in which he states “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under” is indicative of the speech deemed unacceptable by the school.

Robert Muise of the American Freedom Law Center is the teacher’s attorney and has harsh words for those limiting his client’s free expression.

He said the school is treating the existence of affirmative posters in the classroom “like it’s some sort of pornography,” adding that administrators went too far in stripping the teacher’s room of any mention of faith.

Officials “literally went through her classroom with a fine-tooth comb and removed anything that had anything to do with Christianity,” Muise said. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”

In addition to quotes on her desk and classroom walls, administrators also forced the teacher to remove a box available for students with prayer requests. The school’s Bible club would collect the requests and include them in prayers during meetings.

The superintendent admonished the teacher, saying “Under no circumstances should you participate in the club’s meetings or activities.”

All this amounts to a breach of her liberty, she contends.

“I believe that my First Amendment rights were violated,” she stated, adding she feels called to “fight to protect the rights that people have died to give me.”

Muise said the students’ rights were also abridged.

“This was just students leading prayers and they removed the prayer box from the classroom,” he said. “That’s a violation of their rights.”

He called the incident “an example of what we are seeing across the country.”

Our founders created an amendment specifically to protect an individual’s right to express his or her faith. In just the last few generations, that uniquely American freedom has been twisted and used to silence any such expressions in the utopian task of absolute inclusion.

The left seems to view any vestige of Christianity – no matter how slight – as an outright endorsement of the faith. Meanwhile, students are subjected to lessons detailing just about any other religion in the name of multiculturalism.

New Non-profit Helping Visionary Vets

By B. Christopher Agee

army soldier1 New non profit helping visionary vets

With far too many veterans facing unemployment, talking heads have long lamented the dearth of opportunity in America for its heroic servicemen and women.

Respected conservative talk show host Don Smith is putting actions behind his words with the creation of All American Veterans Services.

I recently had the chance to speak with Smith about the non-profit organization for which he serves as chief executive officer. He explained that AAVS was designed to provide all the support an aspiring entrepreneur might need in transitioning from military life to the business world.

The group has secured committed partners, including Legal Zoom and Regus, to donate professional services such as filing necessary paperwork and securing office space.

Veterans interested in participating can submit their business ideas online at allamericanvets.com, Smith explained, noting the search is underway for the first recipient of the unique business start-up package. Those inclined to do so can also use the site to make a monetary donation.

In contrast to many other charitable organizations, Smith said he takes the term “non-profit” seriously and that the group commits 100 percent of all donations to those AAVS was designed to help.

In coordination with its first fundraising drive, Smith said all donors during the month of January will be entered into a contest with prizes, including autographed copies of recent New York Times bestselling books.

Though a primary mission of AAV is to guide veterans in the process of establishing their own business, Smith said the organization is committed to helping soldiers in any way possible.

The group will provide job placement services, family counseling, and access to housing assistance programs, all at no cost to its clients, he added.

Though I tend to refrain from generalizing any particular group of people, America’s military heroes are among the most deserving of any among us and are often the most neglected.

Smith recognized that disparity and developed a phenomenal organization tasked with correcting it – one veteran at a time.

American Pastor Faces Federal Suit For Stance On Homosexuality

By B. Christopher Agee

Cross SC American pastor faces federal suit for stance on homosexuality

Believe it or not, a Christian pastor in Massachusetts is facing a federal lawsuit for crimes against humanity for embracing a Biblical view on sexuality!

The pastor, Scott Lively, is being targeted by Sexual Minorities Uganda – easy to remember by its acronym, SMUG – based on a missions trip he made to the African nation in 2009.

Speaking of smug, leftist billionaire George Soros is representing the organization through his own Center for Constitutional Rights.

During his visit, Lively spoke about homosexuality in a Biblical context and, around the same time, Uganda’s leaders considered a bill that would make homosexuality an offense punishable by death.

No one seems to be suggesting Lively actively participated in any of the discussion among the nation’s rulers, though the militant homosexual lobby doesn’t need to establish causation in order to vilify those with whom they disagree.

“We want him held accountable for the escalating homophobia and persecution in Uganda,” a SMUG spokesperson said.

The foreign group is able to file a lawsuit in America, against an American citizen, under the Alien Tort Statute. Soros became involved, according to Liberty Council Founder Mathew Staver, to further his own agenda.

CCR wants “to silence the speech of Christians,” he said, including “people who are pro-family and people whose views they disagree with.”

Staver said this suit could have chilling implications for future missions work by conservative Christians.

“If this case is not dismissed, we will be having an American pastor that lives in the United States on trial for alleged crimes against humanity,” he said. “This suit should cause everyone to be concerned because it is a direct threat against freedom of speech.”

Staver said he wants to hold CCR responsible for filing an unjustified suit.

He explained that lawyers are using a “vague international law to silence – and eventually criminalize – speech by U.S. citizens on homosexuality and moral issues.” The incident reveals the group’s intention to “establish new precedent” that would “override our Constitutional freedoms,” he added.

I have never heard of a legitimate Christian pastor calling for the death of a homosexual, and I am absolutely sick of the left’s constant misrepresentation of my faith’s belief.

Rather than hatred and retribution, two reactions common among the humanist left, the overwhelming majority of Christians want nothing more than to lead those living in sin – be it homosexuality or otherwise – to a loving and forgiving God.

Exclusive Interview With Pro-life Icon Father Frank Pavone (Part II)

By B. Christopher Agee

abortion is not health care1 Exclusive interview with pro life icon Father Frank Pavone (Part II)

(Editor’s note: Read Part 1 here.)

Though his ministry through Priests for Life has grown exponentially over the past two decades, Pavone said that has sometimes made the work more difficult. He talked briefly about an incident in 2011 that resulted in the restriction of his priestly duties before a recent vindication from no less than the Vatican.

“Every priest in the Catholic church operates under the authority of a Bishop or some other kind of religious superior,” he explained, “and we don’t get to choose who those superiors are. Bishops who have the responsibility to oversee the ministries will sometimes have concerns about a ministry that is growing very large, very influential, so we’re at a transition now where our mission and our work has really outgrown our structure.”

The Bishop under whom he operated “had concerns and wanted to look at that structure and see how it could be better suitable for what we were doing, so he asked me to come back [to the Diocese of Amarillo, Texas] for a while,” Pavone said.

He said that Priests for Life appealed that decision to the Vatican, which ultimately came down on the organization’s side.

“We said to the Vatican, ‘We think we’re being treated unfairly here, take a look at this. Help us out,” he explained. “They said I did not have to be restricted and, at the same time, I want people to understand that we fully cooperate with the church authority so our ministry can have the most effective structure and that can help us continue to grow, which is what is happening.”

Though there might be occasional backlash, Pavone said it is immeasurably important for faith leaders to remain dedicated to sharing the Biblical truth about abortion.

“To fail to speak out on abortion is to fail to defend the dominion of God,” he added.

Pavone said that Christians of all denominations should be united in the call to end abortion and invited anyone who could attend to an interdenominational prayer service he will be leading in Washington, D.C.’s Constitutional Hall later this month.

The event will coincide with this year’s March for Life on Jan. 25.

“We’re going to have representatives from almost every Christian denomination,” he said. “There are a lot of them, but we can come together and say ‘Jesus is Lord and He’s Lord of human life.’”

Though he is dedicated to ending abortion, Pavone said he is also adamant about providing care and compassion for those who have already undergone the procedure.

“One of the biggest things we do is to provide healing and reconciliation after abortion and anybody who’s been involved in abortion – man, woman, friend,” he said. “However you may have been involved, know that we in the pro-life movement and the church are on your side. This is not a movement of condemnation; it’s a movement of compassion and we want to bring that merciful forgiveness to everybody that comes to the Lord with repentance.”

Exclusive Interview With Pro-life Icon Father Frank Pavone (Part I)

By B. Christopher Agee

Abortion is murder Exclusive interview with pro life icon Father Frank Pavone (Part I)

Father Frank Pavone, executive director of Priests for Life, is arguably the most influential pro-life advocate in the world.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with him about his introduction to the movement and his advice for how concerned individuals can make a difference in ending abortion.

“I was a teenager and I hadn’t really thought much about the abortion issue,” he said, “but in 1976, I ended up going on the third annual March for Life in Washington, [D.C.] That event – because of its size, the diversity of the crowd, their palpable, intense focus on praying and working for the protection of the unborn – awakened me to the abortion issue and to the pro-life movement in a way that changed the course of my life.”

Indeed, Father Pavone has spent the majority of the last four decades as a fearless advocate for the unborn. He said his biggest opportunity to stand up for the unborn came in 1993. ”I was very happily ordained as a priest and serving in a parish in New York City,” he recalled. “The alarm went off in my mind, so to speak, and my conscience, to dedicate myself to this. What I had to do at that point was to ask the permission of my bishop, who at that time was Cardinal John O’Connor.”

His superior was “very passionate about the pro-life issue himself,” Pavone said. “He was at that time the leading voice in the Catholic church on that issue, so going to him to ask for permission to do this ended up being a very easy road. He said ‘Yes,’ and set me out on this path…as the first full-time director of Priests for Life.”

Through his capacity in that organization, Pavone said he delights in the ability to reach a large audience in support of the sanctity of life. ”The most rewarding thing is when I’m out on the road as I am 80 percent of the time, traveling to communities large and small, and run into people who say, ‘Father Frank, I got involved in the pro-life movement because of your programs on TV or hearing you on the radio,’ or the priest who says to me, ‘I started teaching about abortion more.’ We see the fruits constantly right there at the local level and that’s what tells the most.”

One of his primary missions, he explained, is to localize the abortion issue and help individuals become more involved in the pro-life movement. ”The gratifying thing above all, and what we are aiming for above all, is that the ordinary person sitting in his or her living room, working at his or her own job, feels that they can do something to stop abortion,” he said. The real work, he noted, begins close to home.” All abortion is local,” he said. “We have to work on Washington…but abortions aren’t taking place in the halls of Congress. The first thing is to become informed about what is happening in one’s community. Is there an abortion facility nearby? Is there a pregnancy center nearby? For most people, the answer to those questions is going to be, ‘Yes.’”

Some examples of what concerned citizens can do, he suggested, include increasing the visibility of crisis pregnancy centers offering abortion alternatives and sharing the resources provided by pro-life organizations such as Priests for Life. ”It may just take a few moments each week to read an email or a newsletter to keep on top of things,” he said.

Pavone spoke candidly about the growing support – or at least toleration – of abortion among many self-identified Christians. ”I’m convinced that a lot of that comes from [the fact that] the word ‘abortion’ has really lost all or most of it’s meaning to a lot of people,” he said. “They know in a generic way it’s the ending of a pregnancy. Well, okay, but have they ever heard the description of an abortion procedure as it is described in the medical textbooks that abortionists themselves write? If they did, they would be disgusted.”

There exists in some Christian churches Bible study courses aimed specifically at the pro-choice crowd. ”This is absolutely offensive to the faith and it’s offensive to reason,” he said. “It’s easy to abuse Scripture and twist it and abuse the faith, but what is not easy is when you actually look at what an abortion is or you read the words of those that do them. Then you’re faced with the reality…abortion is an act of violence.”

Teacher Reportedly Desecrates Flag In Classroom

By B. Christopher Agee

American Flags SC Teacher reportedly desecrates flag in classroom

A spokesman for a South Carolina school district announced an investigation into one high school teacher who allegedly took down an American flag and stomped on it in front of students.

“It was not a spontaneous act but one he worked into the lesson,” the representative said, adding there is “sufficient evidence that the teacher needed to be put on administrative leave and a full investigation needed to take place.”

The parent of one student in the class during this display reported that the teacher took down the flag, saying, “This is a symbol, but it’s only a piece of cloth. It doesn’t mean anything,” before tossing it to the ground and repeatedly stepping on it.

Without releasing the teacher’s name and offering few additional details, the school spokesperson expressed a view likely shared by the majority of my patriotic audience.

“So many of our veterans have made sacrifices for that flag,” he said, noting there are currently “men and women deployed in service to our country and we do that this very seriously.”

Unfortunately, our public school system has become such an incubator of anti-American leftism that a school source speaking so candidly in favor of honoring our flag is almost shocking.

The executive director of watchdog group Accuracy in Academia shares in my sense of incredulity.

“I’m astounded by this,” he said. “What you usually hear is students suspended for actually wearing an American flag.”

He also expressed disbelief that a teacher in a relatively conservative region of the country would be so disrespectful of Old Glory, saying he “would have expected something like that somewhere in the northeast rather than below the Mason-Dixon line.”

Though large cities in deep blue states like New York and California generally contain rabid leftists in higher concentrations, this case shows they can pop up anywhere to spread their vitriolic criticism of our nation’s heritage.

University Seeks To Limit Free Speech With ‘inclusive Language’ Campaign

By B. Christopher Agee

Maryland SC University seeks to limit free speech with inclusive language campaign

Administrators at the University of Maryland are using a $15,000 grant to prod students toward using politically correct language.

The idea for the campaign was born when a staff member reported hearing “non-inclusive” language and apparently though the situation warranted behavior modification.

“I think so far it has created some interesting conversations on campus,” the employee said.

Though colleges are hotbeds of knee-jerk leftism, I’m sure at least some of those “interesting conversations” center around the nerve of any individual deciding which words are acceptable and which are not.

Obviously, profane and outright hurtful language should not be used in polite society; and almost any individual without a psychopathic disorder does not need to be reminded of this fact.

Campaigns such as this one, though, seek to silence anyone using phrases – regardless of intent – the left deems insensitive.

Some examples of problematic language, according to signs posted around campus, include “illegal alien,” “that’s so ghetto,” and “no homo.”

Leave it to a self-identified Libertarian and president of the university organization Students for Liberty to accurately describe this campaign by campus thought police.

“It is important to be civil with one another, but this goes too far in taking language that most people would not find offensive and making us feel guilty for using it,” he said.

He said that to perpetuate the First Amendment right to free speech on American campuses “requires the ability to say things without guilt.”

Unfortunately, guilt is one of the few weapons the leftists in charge of most universities have in their arsenal – and what a highly effective weapon it is!

Violent, Mentally Ill Inmates Shown Graphic Violence And Sex

By B. Christopher Agee

hollywood sign Violent, mentally ill inmates shown graphic violence and sex

Despite the consistent protests of at least one female guard, inmates at a maximum-security prison in Iowa have been allowed to view movies with graphic depictions of violent murder and sex.

The prison is home to mentally ill criminals, including murderers and sex offenders; and officials apparently feel they deserve an opportunity to watch movies like “Deranged,” which depicts a woman being violently raped and tortured.

A female correctional officer said she has been trying to end the practice – which she contends contributes to inmates’ aggression – since she began working at the facility a decade ago.

Inappropriate movies aired multiple times daily in a common room with as many as 45 convicts viewing, she said, adding that inmates would often expose themselves and harass her during the films.

She claims her superiors reacted by denying her request and even blaming her for the prisoners’ actions.

The guard presented evidence of disciplinary action taken against her when she dared to turn off a movie containing scenes of sex and violence.

“If I had not lived through it myself, I wouldn’t believe this,” she said, explaining that inmates threatened to kill her after administrators barred explicit movies in response to her continued complaints.

Though she was pelted with urine and sustained a barrage of insults, officials would not transfer her to a safer assignment until more than a year had passed, she added.

A former warden at the prison basically disregarded the guard’s concerns, declaring that the facility is “an institution of adult males and much of what we show can be seen on general television broadcasts.”

It is outrageous to contend that prisoners deserve to view anything readily available to the general population; furthermore, suggesting something is harmless merely based on the fact it is disseminated over public airwaves is incredibly naive.

While the vast majority might view graphic movies without being influenced, those who have already proven themselves to be violent and/or mentally ill should not be presumed to handle such material in the same manner – especially after being deprived of most outside stimuli.

How anyone can fault a female officer for feeling unsafe in that environment is beyond my understanding.

Filmmaker Labels Damon Film “Classic Propaganda”

By B. Christopher Agee

Matt Damon SC Filmmaker labels Damon film Classic propaganda

Judging by his ignorant and radical leftist rants on subjects such as public education, it’s probably no surprise Matt Damon opposes hydraulic fracturing, the highly effective process of extracting natural gas that some critics say is environmentally unfriendly.

Damon’s latest politically-charged movie, though, has prompted one of his peers to call him “a liar” for claiming it isn’t an outlet for his own ideological views.

Promised Land,” co-written by Damon, is “political from the beginning to the very end” and perpetuates the left’s misinformation about the process commonly known as “fracking,” said director Phelim McAleer. The filmmaker called the move “classic propaganda.”

McAleer’s own movie “FrackNation” presents the positive side of fracking, and he is vocal in his criticism of Damon’s portrayal of the drilling method.

Dispelling the leftist claim that fracking leads to contaminated water supplies, McAleer points to historical data that far predates any such drilling.

“In America hundreds of years ago, Native Americans named three different locations ‘Burning Springs,’” he said. “Quite simply, this is because of the naturally occurring gases – like methane – that are found beneath the earth’s surface with water.”

He went on to say that “there is no evidence that suggests that fracking has led to an increase in this phenomenon.”

A billboard campaign McAleer began in New York addresses the actor/activist directly, stating, “Matt Damon: the water has been on fire since 1669.”

When news broke that the United Arab Emirates, an influential member of OPECpartially funded the film, Damon’s already shaky credibility took yet another serious blow.
